h and west of the city but heavier rain through south jersey and delaware. take a look down the shore in ocean city where we did have heavy snow pouring snow late this afternoon, and now you can see the board are covered beach as well, light snow is still falling down the shore in ocean city cape may county. on storm scan three you can see where heavier snow is in these darker returns where this purple color is south jersey extending down through delaware and we will see pink a little bit of the mix of sleet there and north and west of the city light snow falling, as you can see a few darker returns, that is moderate snow but everything is swiftly moving north and east. we are seeing some deeper returns here through the the reflectivity of the radar showing some band of heavier snow through maurice river cumberland county, extending toward the the expressway. cape may seeing a pocket of heavy snow through southern parts of the cape may county between avalon and cape may point. this is where we are expecting some of our heavier accumulations especially through interior south jersey. if you are traveling in these

areas over next couple of hours please take it slow visibility is an issue, thinks where the the snow is falling a little heavier at this point and in reading we have half mile visibility same in lancaster. fog in philadelphia, point will eight of a mile. atlantic city half mile visibility and pottstown a mile and mount holly only a mile visibility with snow and fog. the winter weather advisory continues until will ten this morning. snow amount modest felt on inch and a half, magnolia glass co, half an inch, harrington in delaware .4 of an inch. blackwood, new jersey a trace but more to come throughout the evening commute. temperatures right now for the the most part below freezing with the exception of trenton and down through wildwood, but with temperatures so close freezing we're talking about a wet snow for the the most part. a coat to go an inch of snow expected to the poconos lehigh valley reading right on the borderline an inch or two for you and one to three as you get closer to the south jersey and central and southern delaware.

there will be an area where we see banning interior south jersey and extending down toward central delaware. we could see more than 3 inches of snow, up toward a 4 inches of snow. our storm is redeveloping off the coast and that is feeding moisture to the southern communities. speaking of south jersey and delaware lets go out to my collogue justin drabick with the live mobile weather lab on route one in new castle county. what does it look like down there. >> reporter: kathy, were you mentioning those heavier band developing to the south and it looks like we are driving into some of those or approaching them because the rates of the snow picking up here in new castle county. especially, southern new castle county where we are heading south on route one now approaching owe december a, delaware. here we are, one of the major road here so heavily traveled. temperature is 29 degrees. the you can see just wet road a and a lot of salt. crews have been on this. just look off to the side of the road and trees just caked on with snow. easily half inch maybe even 1

snow is falling in new jersey right now and drivers there are taking it slow. our team coverage continues with meteorologist carol erickson hoist live in pennsauken, this afternoon hi carol. chris, it is, january we should expect weather like this in our area but it is the timing of this clipper system that seems to make it worse. it is rush hour but it is also coming just days after some of the worst weather-related accidents that we have seen in this area, right now we're in pennsauken in to philadelphia. in problems, except for the memories of what can happen on wet road in the wintertime. right at the afternoon school bell, the snow began lightly but it weighed heavily on motorist especially those up able to get sunday's deadly ice storm out of their mind. >> i witnessed it firsthand only to come up 295 and it was unbearable. that there is is a big eye opener. >> reporter: road crews too who laid down a generous

heaping of salt hoping to prevent sudden horror of icy road, drivers can slide on but not stop on. professional bus driver joe believes road conditions are only part of the problem. >> the other people that are outside on the road you have to watch out for. >> reporter: that seemed to be a familiar theme with the people i was talking to, they are all blaming the other driver. now, again, this is route 70 going into philadelphia, we're at this little corner in pennsauken where we have route 38, coming out of the city traffic is moving a along fine there, and if you didn't see the the snow you wouldn't know there was a problem. there have been salt trucks out and about, they are every where, but still that snow is coming down and any untreated surface is getting covered with snow. just want to show you real fast this is what happened, we have a treated parking lot untreated ground and curb. depending on where you are, your conditions will be different. reporting live, in pennsauken, carol erickson for cbs-3

roads throughout the evening all the while dealing with rush hour traffic. >> it makes our jobs harder because as you know, rush around here slows down traffic speeds so our trucks got to go with the speed of traffic. >> reporter: hen dot has spread 25,000 tons of salt this year. guys that at this landscaping company have not spread that much but they did cover sidewalks all along germantown pike. their opinion on the snow. >> snow is money but snow is also hard work and long hours, so it is love/hate definitely. >> reporter: little earlier we mentioned how bad things were this past sunday. penndot officials a say if there was anything good to come out of that is that the roads were treated heavily that day so that salt and brine left over the roadways is residual meaning that the road tonight should be easier to keep clear. we are live in plymouth meeting, matt rivers for cws3 "eyewitness news". as kathy mentioned earlier, parts of the south jersey could get the most snow

snow is falling across the area this afternoon as we take a live look the at the schuylkill expressway at city avenue in philadelphia a our meteorologists are tracking this storm, they will be bringing us an update in just a few minutes. we are getting a a look at police dash cam video of what became a deadly traffic stop in bridgeton cumberland county. >> two civil rights organizations are asking for the case to be turned over to the new jersey attorney general's office. has withdrawn herself for personally knowing officer dave, but some feel that is not enough. >> we're demanding that prosecutor mcray recues he entire staff from this investigation, give it to the attorney general's office. >> reporter: many in the community are upset with how officers handled the situation and some have had bad experiences with officer daves. >> i was at a city council meeting a year ago complaining about this a same officer. nothing was done. >> reporter: the state attorney general's office gave me a statement todaying a cumberland county prosecutor's office is handling the investigation, and ultimately will present the case to the grand jury, unless the undisputed facts indicate that the use of force was just final under the law. the attorney general's office says that is part of their job to review the the investigation, after it is concluded, we understand from the the protesters that they will continue to meet daily

outside the prosecutor's office, to demand a change. we are live from bridgeton cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and on this snowy wednesday, we have several weather-related incidents due to slippery road conditions. the first we will go out to the schuylkill expressway right around montgomery in the eastbound lanes where you can see crews on the scene trying to get a disable vehicle out of the way of the eastbound lanes, westbound lanes moving just fine though so far. otherwise on the schuylkill expressway right around 30th street in the eastbound lanes you cane police activity over in the right-hand shoulder. as well as westbound doug bother but still moving slow. speaking of slow we have speed restrictions outside on the ben franklin bridge where you can see there is reduced visibility here from the philadelphia side all lanes are opened though heading westbound in the city and speed restrictions of 35 miles an hour. an accident out in new jersey on the route 42 freeway southbound for 42 off ramp to

well, the storm has been dropping snow for a while off to our west, this is eyewitness cam video from jim in harrisburg, it looks like a couple inches on the ground there. pretty snow, i beautiful scene in pennsylvania's capitol. it looks like a winter wonderland. >> it is. >> not so much a winter wonder land every where a across the delaware valley. >> no. >> no. >> we have a little bit of the transition for our clipper. harrisburg saw it moving in, bringing two to 3 inches of snow. for us we are seeing a redevelopment off the coast and that means it is driving the moisture from our northern and western suburbs. you won't see as much snow there as you will in our southern zones. take a look, we do have some snow, that fell earlier today in reading.

cutting down toward the the eastern shore and even the southwestern corner there of sussex county delaware drying out a little bit. we are seeing still the heavier snow right through south jersey and central and southern delaware especially as we head closer to the shore. we are seeing mixing going on there with some darker, pockets, through interior south jersey where we have some even a hansed banding as our storm is developing off shore. right now in philadelphia visibility over a mile, 1.5, improved right there in wilmington, atlantic city a mild visibility with some snow and some fog developing as well. as we look ahead temperatures will be falling well we low freezing overnight tonight. already 29 degrees in philadelphia, 32 in trenton. it is a wet snow but we will be seeing everything refreeze overnight tonight so please be aware of. that snow amounts so far, that have come in the weather center smyrna in delaware an inch. dover the same. wood side, .9 of an inch, clayton half inch and hough's church in berks county near

continuing for the next couple of hours, in south jersey especially. lets see he how conditions are outside, we will toss it the tout meteorologist justin drabick live from the weather lab in beared delaware, hi, justin. >> reporter: good evening, kate. if you joined us a half an hour ago at 5:00 we showed you delaware route one south and it was just wet even though temperatures are below freezing. we have got off route one and hit 72 and we're on wilson boulevard familiar with the a area between bear delaware and glass co, delaware. this is one of the neighborhoods. this is what we're talking about. the side streets are snow covered, half inch on these streets, maybe an inch on the grass area. temperature is below freezing right now coming in at 28 degrees from the cbs-3 mobil weather lab. untreated surfaces are snow cover. you can see that right here. you have to take it easy getting off those major road. lets talk about the road conditions on the the weather graphic, again throughout this evening we will give it a red light snow steady snow, with low visibility in delaware and south jersey.

air travel and we're here at philadelphia international airport and if you take a look at that board over split shows departures, most of them are on time. right now there are about a dozen delays when it comes to a arrival flights. only a few you for departures and only a couple of cancellations. new airport officials have been preparing for the winter weather since early this morning. crews have been deicing planes and putting a chemical mixture on the runways. snow started coming down around 2:00 p.m. here at the airport and arrival flights are experiencing a delay of about 74 minutes. but for those who are traveling, today here's a tip, your best betties to park your car in the covered garage so you won't return to a snow covered car. >> if you are looking to come and park at the airport you should really check down near the terminal f, because a lot of people want to park under cover owe parking garages are getting full near capacity. so, look at terminal will f

about his security after shots were fired near his home in delaware. secret service is investigating saturday's drive by shooting incident in greenville new castle county. during an interview on cbs this morning biden says officers found four shell casings spread over a large area. >> car must have been going by at a fairly high rate of speed. it appears somebody on the passenger fired a gun and my house is on the driver's side. it business hundred yard away. there is no evidence of anything hitting the house. i'm not at all worried. >> bidens were not their greenville home at the time of their shooting. israeli authorities called this a act of terror. man from the west bank stabs nine people on board a crowded city bus in tel aviv. it happen during morning rush there. police say that the man attacked a bus driver first and then several passengers. he ran away from the scene but was later shot and arrested by nearby security forces. in one died in this attack but several of the victims are in serious condition tonight.

where we are we are getting completely different reports. some folks in the north and west that didn't see a whole lot, other folks off to the south seeing quite a witt of snow. we will start off with this one, in delaware, middletown from jason. the look at how much snow he a a has got. that is 2 inches on the ground, a at least and you can see grass peeking out. we have had other folks, not seeing a whole lot, seeing clear road in this shot from allison. we're seeing kid out playing in the snow from aj, the the kid not seeing a ton of snow, not enough to build a snow man but they like to it day. keep photos coming and snow amounts we will check back in with weather watchers with kathy at 6:00. lets look at what is happening outside, you can see things are looking moving fine. we are seeing some snow on the ground, live shot the of the pennsylvania turnpike and you can see cars seem to be going by just a okay. road are just wet generally. this is schuylkill expressway right new and traffic not looking too bad, snow not playing a huge role on the main streets but back road especially off to the south of philadelphia, those are areas

that will see problems throughout the reminder of the evening. how much will we end up with when all is said and done ? storm under performed to the north, not going to see much north of philadelphia but general one to three from the city on south. down the shore that we are seeing some locally higher amounts. down the shore into portions of interior south jersey and kent county delaware where some spots may have three to 4 inches before all is said and done. you can see snow is still coming down a across portions of south jersey right now, here we are zoomed into delaware county, zooming out and taking a look at local radar you can see heavier snow down over cape may county, atlantic county, salem and cumberland ending over delaware and starting to erode around the city as well. may another hour of this and then snow moves out and we're clear at least for the next couple of days. then our focus shifts to saturday. temperatures right now, 30 the at the a airport. chilly out there. twenty-seven in reading. any wet road any snow that fell temperatures have fallen back below freezing mark. they will stay there all

night. that means everything will refreeze because we could see threat for black ice throughout the overnight hours. let talk about our next snow chance. lets start with the gfs model this model keeping this storm on saturday generally further east. you can see what we're looking at generally light snow in the city toward shore points, rain in the coast and amounts not all that much. in contrast take a look at this one the european model this moves up the coast on saturday and notice how much heavier the the snow is this is a heavy wet snow all along i-95 as track of this storm is just a little further west and track is going to play a huge role in this system. we will continue to monitor this coastal low. it could be a a significant snow fall for us. the it all depend on the track of the storm but there are limited factors. what we don't have fresh injection of cold air from the north and west. we don't have a blocking high to recurve this storm and the track is going to be huge here. a track little further west or east could mean a big difference in precipitation for any area across our region.
