"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now as arson investigators are looking for clues. jan, good morning. >> good morning this neighborhood is really fortunate that this car fire didn't spread to a lot of the neighboring homes here. now, the bulk of the damage is to this vehicle and home behind me here, 6300 block every ditman street in talcony. this family's suv is totaled. the flames, fortunately damaged just the outside of the home. that second story overhang is burned slightly. but, this is what the fire looked like earlier this morning, the car was engulfed in flames. now there is photo was taken by a neighbor who called 911 just after 2:00 this morning.

she was in her kitchen and heard allowed bang. then saw the flames and then she ran to her neighbor's house to get the family out. meantime, another neighbor's barking dog woke her and her husband up. so they went to their neighbor's house as well. and it is a good thing these neighbors sprung into action. the family who lives here including a eight year old little girl were asleep inside. >> this car fire was happening right under a bedroom. now, everyone was able to get out safely. when fire crews arrived they got the fire out in just about 20 minutes. the family car is torched neighboring mini-van and deck were burned a little as well. that was the main concern here with this neighborhood, that this could have spread very quickly down the block. >> i worked on an ambulance for several years. so, you know, it was just -- i don't know if it was maybe mom instinct emt instinct, but just trying to get everybody you know, to safety. >> and the fire marshall is investigating not only this fire, but another car fire at torresdale and robbins as well, which is just about two

blocks away. fire investigators were using the arson sniffing dogs, that can detect accelerants. so that's three cars damaged at two different locations just within an hour this morning. this is an ongoing investigation, and back out here live on scene fortunately, again no injuries here. and no damage inside of these home, but you can see how close that burned out car was to the overhang, where there is a bedroom inside. we're reporting live in talcony, january car barrow. >> meanwhile, philadelphia police continue their manhunt for the suspect who viciously attacked a high school student on septa trolley. cell phone video caught the beating wednesday morning. seventeen year old shea, we're not revealing her last name, she got into the trolley at broad and girard. the attack happened after she says she accidentally bumped a man with her back pack. >> i'm from the emergency room, i see it every day but the last thing i opportunity see is see it on my child. >> estimated 100,000 student are in philadelphia riding

septa to and from school. the transit agency deploys 100 extra officers to ensure their safety. >> delaware state police are looking for several drivers who hit and killed a man on i495 last night. and then took off. we're told that man was trying to cross the northbound lanes of the highway in edgemore when someone hit him and knocked him over. then several other cars also hit him while he was still on the grounds. police do not have any descriptions of the cars they're looking for. >> right now 5:03. want to talk about this storm headed our way. katie, good morning. >> not just one but two separate systems that we will be dealing with here through the course of the weekends, one coming later on tonight the other one right at the end of sunday night into monday. so it is sort of like we're sandwiching the weekends around the system. we are right now at least in the clear. it looks like it will definitely stay that way for sure through the morning drive and for sure i would say through at least the first half of your evening rush. but we do start to see, you know, toward the tail end of

the evening especially through the overnight our next storm system moving on in. we can zoom it out one more time. here is the leading edge of the precipitation, still too warm for anything but plane old rain through kentucky or rather i should say tennessee over into north carolina but this will eventually run into colder air that we've got currently in place. so winter weather advisories take effect tonight they last us until midday tomorrow, across the board. so everybody's getting in on the snow this time. it is not just going to be snow. also we'll see rain, very likely the mixing of the ice inbetween with sleet and some of the rain freezing on contact. but for now, quiet. we start with sun we will see some clouds, those clouds will continue to thicken i want to gave you a time line. talking 9:00 p.m. tonight into midnight saturday. that snow begins to move from south to north. steadiest of the accumulating snow happens up until 5:00 a.m. so you'll be waking up to the white stuff. change over to rain. key point with that 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. range also start to see the sleet and freezing rain potential. if you are one of the folks that has to go to work on a

morning, everyone, new england patriots are pushing back on deflation gate. coaches and staff de anything any involvement in donating footballs during their game last sunday. don champion bridges you up-to-date. >> reporter: at a time when all of the new england patriots should be talking about a superbowl, the team finds itself on the defense offering up denial after denial. >> i was shocked to learn of the news report about the footballs, you know, i didn't alter the ball in anyway. >> the team is under investigation for donating footballs used in their victory over the colts sunday. quarterback tom brady admitted he picked out the game balls but doesn't know what happened after that. >> i'm very comfortable saying that nobody did it, as far as i know, i don't know everything.

i also understanded that i you know, was in the lockerroom preparing for a game. i don't know what happened over the course of the process with the footballs. >> nfl regulations mandate that game balls be inflated to between 12 and a half and 13 and a half pounds of pressure per square inch. officials checked the balls two hours before the game, but when later inspected they were reportedly 2 pounds low which made them easier to grasp. seattle seahawks players kevin williams will face the patriots in the superbowl. >> i mean, you still got to tackle. you still got to cover. you still got to rush the quarterback t don't matter how much air in the ball? if the team cheated the patriots could face $25,000 fine and potentially lose the draft pick. don champion, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and now we are hearing from someone who has been on the side lines. former eagles ball boy brendon armstrong oversaw guam balls before and after inspections back in the day. he says he never noticed any

start to move in for us. it is pack ago punch of moisture also look at the squawl line setting up here over the gulf of mexico. so also having to worry potentially about some nasty thunderstorms down that far south. but for us, it is a whole mixed bag of wintery precipitation. now i also need to talk about the ice threat, obviously huge last week. we want to address t now notice by 2:00 a.m. saturday, there is no ice to spot out there. you're going to have snow to create slick spots. but you do not need much ice for there to be a problem. let's move things forward. as we look ahead to the morning, that's when some milder air will move, in the sun comes up, we are going to start to see the change over from snow to rain. that's why we're worried that you might see a few hundred or even .10 of inch of ice that's all you need for major problems. >> so if you can swing it, just try to limit any casino of travel here on saturday. meanwhile, how much snow are we talking? because it will start to turn over to rain in philadelphia, the limit the totals to one to three, maybe no more than

because when we were looking at the shot earlier my producer as well, we didn't even have police on scene just yet. but this would be the eastbound side of the schuylkill. as you approach the area of gulph mills notice, the vehicle sort of slanted on the embankment here. police officers monitoring this is the ramp from gulph mills on toward the eastbound side of 76. but if you are head in the this area, do you want to be mindful this is out there. if i could just point out take look at the roads still going to have slick spots on the roads travel out and b be extra careful. we'll continue to keep you updated on. >> this really aren't any major delays on any other majors right now. err dismay. >> vittoria, thank youment breaking news now from talcony. arson investigators on the scene of two car fires in the same neighborhood. this is the 6300 block of ditman street in talcony where one car fire spread to another car and to a home. there was another car fire at torresdale and robbins. >> a vicious attack on a high school student on septa trolley is under investigation. the attack was caught on

katie, watching two systems this morning? >> the second one hasn't even formed on the radar but we really want to focus i would say more so on the one currently on way. it is packing serious punch of moisture right now across portions of alabama now into the panhandle of florida and it will eventually make that left hand hook, and head up the coastline and start to bring us some snow by later on tonight. so for now, storm scan3 nice and quiet. will stay that way throughout the day but then later tonight it starts to move in. we expect generally to start off with snow, everywhere, but enough mild air will eventually move in to help it turn over to a mix of sleet and probably freezing rain, by tomorrow morning. across that pink shaded area, then eventually turn over to plane old rain, so we may have similar situation as far as

slick travel john indication here for philadelphia, is that we're looking at one to 3-inch swat for philly. just because you're going to see the change overtake place. >> if your ' going up into the northwest suburbs could pick up double that amount just because you'll have some colder air in place. >> good morning everyone, so even though not seeing any precipitation right now roads still slick out there. this is the second overturned vehicle, situation, that we've had just this morning. this is a look at the schuylkill expressway, 76 eastbound, at the gulph mills onramp. >> travel in the area, notice some activity off towards the right hands shoulder, this is the shrek involved, slanted up on the embankment. not dealing with any volume, not even 5:30 just yet not real a concern. but, my concern is that the potential that this could happen to someone else.
