♪ right now at 11:00 the latest blast of winter has gun. "eyewitness news" in willow grove, montgomery county right now where the snow is coming down. you see it there. it is the first of a one-two punch for us. a similar scene in norristown. the snow arriving there just in the past hour. penndot crews are preparing for a long weekend on the roads working to keep them safe for all drivers.

the mobile weather lab on the road in wayne delaware county monitoring conditions there. the snow is starting to stick to the grass and also to the roads. over in new jersey, along route 70 and south cornell avenue in cherry hill, the roads there are glistening as wet snowfalls. good evening to you. i'm jessica dean. chris may is off tonight. some schools have canceled testing for tomorrow and you'll see that information at the bottom of your screen. and also online at cbsphilly.com cbsphilly.com. we've got our winter wet team in place. i'm here with meteorologist kathy orr in the went center. new information on the storm's track. >> absolutely. right now we're seeing snow in a variety of places. this storm is moving ahead of schedule. it will be out a little bit earlier than anticipated. take a look at storm scan3. see those oranges and yellows? that is rain heavy rain moving up through baltimore and washington. cecil county maryland now heading in wilmington. that is warm air and that is some heavy rain and that's push pushing in trying to make some of this snow change over to rain and we anticipate that will be

happening overnight. but right now reports of sleet and also freezing rain in south jersey. we have snow of course in the philadelphia area and suburbs wet juice is he flakes with temperatures above freezing in many locations and that warm surge beginning to push in as we take a closer look the snow continuing to move toward the north hasn't made it everywhere just yet. but it will. winter weather advisory posted for the and tyre john until tomorrow morning. and we're talking about know then some icing and also some heavy rain. this is what we expect during the day tomorrow. i should anticipate that this is going to linger as snow through allentown and reading into the morning on saturday. may mick with a little rain but staying mainly snow -- that means three to 5-inches there. lesser accumulations in our northern aren't western suburbs. as we move our way through philadelphia, and south jersey snow a coating to an inch changing oh ever to rain overnight so by tomorrow morning mainly rain through philadelphia south and east. mainly rain through south

jersey, of course tomorrow with winds gusting to about 25 miles an hour. now let's talk about the timeline here and what to expect. between now and 12am anywhere that we're not seeing the snow in particular like the poconos for example will be seeing the snow between 2:00 a.m. and sick am the heaviest precipitation will be falling. that snow will be changing over to rain from south to north. and then after about 6am to about 10am this is something knew. that light rain and snow will be tapering off. then the storm ends between noon and 3:00 with a final push of wet snow and rain. so it's ending ahead of schedule. that's the good news. our kate bilo live with the cbs3 mobile weather lab. the latest on the mainline streets. what's going on there in wayne kate? >> reporter: well, kathy lancaster avenue is generally just wet here in wayne. that's got news. let me take you outside the cbs3 mobile weather lab. the main roads just wet right now. but if you look in the parking lots or if you look at cars parked across the streets, you

are seeing snow piling up very quickly. it hit hard, it hit fast the flakes are big and we've seen this all across the area tonight tonight. take look at some video from about an hour ago we were in phoenixville and you can see the big flakes coming down the sidewalks quickly got slippery as the snow piled up on those colder sidewalks. we also went over to devon we saw cars parked in parking lots at shopping centers completely covered in snow. grassy areas mulched areas covered in snow as well. so even though the main roads for now are wet we do have more snow to come and it could lead to nasty travel conditions. let's take you through the area tomorrow morning. and take peek at what we're looking at. you can see as the rain starts to lift in we do expect the roads right around the philadelphia area and in south jersey to be dealing with mainly rain all rain. i-95 the schuylkill expressway atlantic city expressway but as youd when up north on to the northeast extension and on to i80, i78 that's where you'll be dealing with the threat for ice and snow. so 80 and 78 the roads you want

to try to avoid tomorrow morning morning. the northern flank of the northeast extension. back here live at the cbs3 mobile weather lab we're looking on lancaster avenue as we head towards saint david's you can see those heavy flakes coming down big fat flakes right now. again not sticking to the main roads but we did see some of the back neighborhood roads start to get covered we expect road conditions to continue to deteriorate through the rest of this evening. reporting live in wayne i'm meteorologist kate bilo. >> tonight we spent the evening with penndot crews who are preparing for a busy weekend with tonight's storm and also one of end of the weekend. our team coverage continues with natasha brown who is live at the penndot yard in norristown. natasha? >> reporter: jessica we can tell you that the snow has been falling steadily here in norristown for the last couple of hours or so. you can see here behind me that the salt pile is stacking up certainly no shortage of that tonight, and penndot crews are putting it to good use right now.

long before the first drop of snowfalls hundreds of penndot trucks were busy brining and preparing the highways. >> preparator work began last night. we sprayed express ways, limited access highways last night. row. >> reporter: more than 330 trucks will canvass more than 11,000 miles of state hoy ways. coating the roads with salt in anticipation of snow accumulation with this latest weather event expected to bring a mixed bag of precipitation penndot is ready to tackle it on all fronts. >> it's going to be long operation for the crews. it's going to be critically important we get the salt down early. saltingsalting the highways we will begin in operation as the snow begins to fall. >> reporter: bags of salt and snow shovels are flying off the shelves at fairmount hardware. residents ready to clear a path when necessary. >> today a lot of people started coming in buying salt buying shovels. seems like kicks are kicking off for that kind of weather now. >> picking up some salt and a shovel. some calcium and a shovel just

responsibility of it. >> this is the most horrific thing i've seen happen to child in 45 years in this town. the ferrets caused severe damage to that baby's knows upper lip and cheek. authorities are now deciding whether to file criminal charges again the parents. a former volunteer firefighter is facing more than 160 criminal counts police say he sexually assaulted more than a dozen children. authorities say 20-year-old john corcoran of glenn olden repeatedly sexually assaulted 14 children heurism in age from eight to 14. those assaults happened over a two year period. investigators say he lured his victims with gifts and he would use them to make child pornography. >> use employs and tricks coercion in order to lure these children. he would promise them toys and money and other things in order to get them to do sexual acts. >> he's a creep. he's weird. he just gives off a very bad vibe to people.

i moon he's just a very strange individual. >> authorities learned about the alleged abuse after corcoran was arrested for a series of arsons. and police say there could be more victims. new tonight the husband of a missing woman is now back in delaware to face charges. cortez hamilton sr. charged with endangering the welfare of children and assault with serious bodily injury. he was found in end with his two children after an am barrel alert was issue earlier this month. the children's mother remains missing. disturbing discover in kensington. two women ages 41 and 38 were found dead in a car in the parking lot of auto zone on aramingo avenue. drug paraphernalia was found in that car. police believe they might have died of drug overdoses. >> chopper three over philadelphia's point breeze neighborhood tonight where a car collided with a septa bus. this happened at 20th 20th street and washington avenue. no one in the car was injured.

conditions. we have snow, we have sleet. we have rain. and where you see a little bit of this orange and red, that is actually heavy rain trying to push in to philadelphia and change that precipitation over to rain it's going to have a tough time but we do expect it to happen overnight. you can see across the delaware valley, we have some snow in allentown. snow in reading and even some icy conditions as you move toward the south and toward the east. so changeable conditions depending on where you live. our "eyewitness weather" watchers are showing us a variety of weather. we have some ice, we have some snow. even a mix in south jersey gary is saying we have a wintry mix in warminster. the temperature is 32 degrees. take a look at some of these pictures that they're sending us us. phil says in germantown philadelphia the chestnut hill area snow falling there. we also have a little bit of an icy mix. delores is reporting in newark, delaware sleet on the sidewalk and the flower bed taken few moments ago and john says in

philadelphia we have a little bit of a dusting of snow as of the 11:00 o'clock hour. so a variety of weather depending on where you live. all temperature depend. take a look at these numbers. right now in physical the temperature is thirty four degrees. we have 35 in allentown. 33 in wilmington and 34 in dover and in wildwood we're looking at rain at arthritic degrees. that warm air trying to push in and by the overnight we do expect the temperatures to rise so that by three 4:00 o'clock in the morning we change over to rain possibly a little icy mix even in philadelphia and wilmington and that icy mix heads toward the lehigh valley but the heaviest snow in allentown and reading in the poconos where we stay mainly snow throughout the event. and then by saturday morning seeing mainly rain. continuing through the morning and then by about 10:00 o'clock it becomes patchy and comes to an end. temporarily one more batch of snow and maybe rain moving through during the afternoon and then we dry it out finally. now as far as precipitation is concern, everyone likes to talk about the snow.

we have snow and sleet in some areas like hammonton and we have rain mixing in mainly rain in vineland. but hammonton basically just an icy mix to rain. and then we'll look a little bit farther to the north and west a coating to anism of snow in wilmington. even glassboro medford and philadelphia before we see the mix and then the rain and higher accumulations through willow grove, king of prussia norristown you saw natasha there and also kate was in wayne. one to 3-inches there before the change over and three to five the heavier precipitation allentown reading in the poconos where we will keep it mainly isn't he and mainly sleet with icy concerns overnight. some icing possible before transition over to some rain as you move through quakertown, allentown seeing possibly a tenth of an inch and then on the back side, mainly rain tomorrow during the day and you can see the 10:00 o'clock hour most of our computer models saying in philadelphia close to an inch of rain. as far as the impacts overnight icy spots especially north and west reduced visibility slow travel and especially south and
