cbs-3 eye on the storm storm scan3 shows snow, ice and rain. of course what you see at this hour depends on where you liver. winter weather advisory is in effect as we eventually see much of the area changing over from snow to rain this morning. meantime, northwest suburbs some of the highest accumulations of snow, live look right now, montgomery county, and we can tell you part of bucks count have i seen to up 5 inches every snow all before the rain is packing it down. and here in the city, shaping up to be just a messy day, with slushy mixon the grounds right now all before it again changes over to rain. >> right now today is saturday january 24th, good morning to you thanks so much
6:01 am
for joining us i'm nicole brewer. we should mention some schools have canceled testing today. you'll she information at the bottom of your screen, also on line at cbsphilly.com. we will have live team three coverage for you of weather this morning, steve patterson in in bucks county. we'll check if with meteorologist carol erickson in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab in just a minute. first the very late west meteorologist, katie fehlinger, track the storm for thus morning katie? >> we have seen impressive snowfall totals out of the moisture rich systemment i can report at this hour, thankfully the brunt of the moisture actually beginning at least to pull away. now, we're still going to be left with lingering sort of just left over showers and rain and snow bands that come through here. sort of punctuated throughout the day. and you'll get few breaks, then start to seymour precipitation moving through. but bullet being of now through. let's go ahead take you out there. i want to show you how we've done so far in terms of the area snow amounts fleetwood. half foot has fallen, perkasie, just shy of that.
6:02 am
glenn moore, over 3 inches, the list goes on, at mt. holly at the regional headquarters for the national weather service, they have seen over an inch, and philadelphia international, while you've had a lot of moisture to work, with only inch of snow. certainly, plenty every rain on top of it all. here is another look for you at storm scan3, at the local level. notice, you might not have anything falling from the sky at this point at all. because this is little break in the action. the problem is that's not the complete back edge of this. again, worse of it, most moisture-rich batch of this storm is out. but we've got a while to go, before the true back hits the storm, we zoom all the way back to show the eastern seaboard until we start to seat back edge of this move through. so we've got to get through the midday. i say toward evening though, things looking a lot bert. now, for the rest of the day what do you need to expect in additional snow and ice possibly some rain mixing in for the pocono region, lehigh valley, and going to total we think up to half foot of snow up that way. soap, great snowman making, and snowball making, snow for you folks up that way.
6:03 am
wintery mix will persist through our northwest counties just outside of philadelphia. so slushy travel is the expectation. left over showers, and i could see some lingering snow and ice within that, as well for philadelphia, and the immediate vicinity there basically your i-95 corridor and surrounding counties, down toward the shore still this left over rain and likely some higher gusts as well, since you are close enough to the ocean to see some of the strongest wind. meanwhile, temperatures as they stand at this hour, well, they're all essentially flirting with freezing. and do you have keep in mind, the grounds may be cold nerve any given location, too that's why we want you to just slow it down throughout, very easily lingering ice concerns out there. but around the region as a whole, as i said, the worse of the moisture has already moved through. but we are still going to be left with lingering rain, snow, and ice showers that come through in some somewhat scattered nature as the day progresses, down the shore mainly chilly rain, we will get you to up about 40 degrees. in the poconos snow and ice continue.
6:04 am
the ski resorts are completely loving this forecast. but commuters well, that's completely different story. for more on what it is like out there on the commute, we want to continue our team three coverage, and sends things out to meteorologist carol erickson battling the roadway conditions right now in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab. hype carol. >> reporter: katie, the road conditions, i think as the temperatures get closer to the freezing mark, and in some cases just above we're finding them little bit better. but i think probably the biggest change is not that 1 degrees. it is all of the extra crews that are coming out now. and you can see, a huge difference, because plows are everywhere. you've got private employs employing, now i'm on a section of route 541 right near the virtua hospital in mt. holly. and you can see the roads look ugh. they're little ice-covered here. they've got a lot of slush in this location. than is right near the hospital. but, in the hospital parking lots, you can see them right here he's cleaning out that parking lot and the walkways
6:05 am
for people who have to get in here. this is the kind of activity you'll be finding today. people are not necessarily paying attention to the road, or the driver with the right of way. because people will be walking on sidewalks, off sidewalks they'll be walking in the middle of the road if the sidewalk isn't done. so those are the kinds of things you'll be watching out for in addition to watching for an incredible variety of road conditions. now, this is a public road, right/here, right in front of the hospital. and you can see that it is very much slush covered at this point. as temperatures warm up, and few plows come down this road, you're going to be find that moved off to the side. hopefully the temperatures coming up. but right now over here at the hospital, they're tossing salt every place by hand up and down these steps. this is a day that is going to be requiring a lot of people to get up very early to try and make it safe for the rest of us to get out this morning. so as we drive along and we can turn on south street, south avenue here, but we're going to keep going because
6:06 am
straight ahead of us is route 38. and you will notice, that there is a whole big difference in the way the roads look, depending on how far off the beaten track you are. so as we get to up route 38, you'll see most of that, up and down the road all night long, the salt, the brine everything else, see how fast that car is going in probably going close to the speed limit. now, is that a good idea? probably not. because there is so much standing watt their if you're not slipping and sliding on the slush that's still out here, in way too many locations, you've got ponding water. this is a heavy dense way of just take a right here or there, there you go, and coming off and this is also where you can find a problem. when you sort of like this driver finding the lane that hasn't been very traveled, and he's in it, making his own little footprint in the sand if you will. but in this case, his two wheel drive making some footprint, i would suggest you get off that.
6:07 am
but whatever. anyhow, as we drive along route 38 not a problem here, but not every lane looks like every other lane. it is just a cautions that we've become way too accustom to unfortunately it seems this winter is trying to wake us up to winter. enough said about that. nicole we go back to you in the studio. >> carol, you and i both just keep hitting the snooze button, you know? we're not quite ready. we're almost through january. >> that's right. >> we can always count on to you tell us exactly like it is. thanks carol. >> in philadelphia, right now though, an inch or two on the grounds, in love park. you can see there few workers getting a early start out there today shoveling the sidewalks and keeping the city famous landmark clear. >> now, we're headed to montgomery couldn't, video coming into the news room overnight from plymouth meeting where you can see plenty of snow sticking to the grounds and also on parked cars there. >> well, let's stay in montgomery county now with closer look at the current
6:08 am
conditions. we continue our team three coverage on the storm with "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson. he's live via mobile three in frank cone ya township. steve, how is it looking? >> it is great. it is a balmy 35 degrees in franconia. hope everybody's nice and warm in the studio, by the way we are out here, i want to just show you the difference, between what is coming now what is on the road now and what came before. you can take a look down, if you look, take a look down below here. you can see kind of the accumulation, about 4 inches on the grounds, great powdery packing wet snow that's kind of come down. get good chunk there. see out on the road, carol really mentioned t there has been some incredible plow work that's been done. they've been taking care of the roads here. they've treated them. they've plowed them. >> this looks vastly different than what it did just less than an hour ago. traffic now moving probably at speed clip t should be at this
6:09 am
point. no real problems at least at this intersection, we have seen again some of the side street some of the less traveled areas that get less treatment of course are the most dangerous places. but again this is prime example whatever we've been seeing all morning, plows coming through there is one probably going to hit one of the parking lots in the area. then again, see across the street, see just how much snow has fallen overnight here. what is the worse part is what's really falling now what you can't see is the very light kind of wet rain that comes down, kind of gloss cents over everything, we haven't been back on the road in a little bit. but we can tell just by stepping and walking around on the sidewalk here, that things can get slick rather quickly. but again you see these roads have been treated. they're being taken care of, for the most part. and again traffic moving pretty smoothly. at least through the major thorough fares, major intersections, that we've seen this morning. we will continue to update you
6:10 am
about casino of what it is like in one of the worse parts here in montgomery county, as this rain continues to fall and gently covers the snow packing it toward the ground. and one of the things we haven't reported on yet how the snow is being packed in by all of the travelers all of the cars over some of these roadways, as this rain continues to fall. so that's something we're taking a look at this morning. live in montgomery county, steve patterson cbs-3 "eyewitness news" back to you. >> all right, steve, doing great job out there. keep it up. stay warm. you're a trooper. we appreciate it. >> also, seeing a loft great pictures from you out there this morning. this eyewitness cam picture was sent in from chief chuck pressler from bucks county ambulance and rescue unit, saying the snow was falling about an inch per hour at one point overnight. lots coming down. almost on the way out for shots, if you have any you would like to share with us, sends them into "eyewitness news" using hashtag cbs-3 storm. the "eyewitness news" team is staying on top of the storm this morning. our coverage continues throughout the hour, and we
6:11 am
will have updates on cbs this morning saturday. then at 9:00 we'll have a special one-hour edition every "eyewitness news" be sure to keep it tuned for us for the latest on the winter weather conditions. >> right now though, new this morning, severe weather may be the cause from an accident involving a police officer in north philadelphia. it happened at the intersection of broad and tioga around 2:00 a.m. now, that officer was taken to nearby temple university hospital. there is no word on his condition at this time. so just nasty day youth side. we've got snow we've got ice we've got rain. many of you will see slushy mixon the sidewalks and the roadways, as we take a live look from cbs-3 mobile weather lab, in other areas you may need your shovel, because there are upward of five, 6 inches of snow out there. katie is coming back with the latest, and we'll hear from some of the weather watchers coming up next. stay about us.
6:14 am
staples has everything you need for an attention-grabbing presentation. brochures, business cards and banners all at low prices, still need to grab your client's attention? [air horn sounds] staples has that stuff too. how much? make on-budget happen. make presentations happen. staples. make more happen. >> pin dot out in full force after spending much of yesterday laying salt and preparing local roadways. now, a look at conditions overnight here in chester county. the cbs-3 mobile weather lab sent this video back from devon where it was just a slushy mess here, along lancaster avenue. now, over the bridge, in cherry hill, new jersey, seeing some very slick roadways. this is the corner of route 70 south colonel avenue.
6:15 am
so remember, if you are headed out this morning just take it slow out there. and give those crews plenty of room to do their jobs. >> let's head out to limerick, montgomery county right now. mark abrams from cwy news radio 1060 on road patrol there this morning. mark, how is it looking out there in montgomery county? >> pretty good so far, nicole. we've got the main roads here, ridge pike pretty well plowed, and a lot of the roads out here, 422, has been hit pretty heavily by the plow crews and the salting. but do you have to watch it there. the temperature is right now in the car here 32 degrees, just the air temperature, we get down to the road, closer to the roads, it will be little cold. even though precipitation has stopped out here right now anything that is left here, could you run into some patches of aisles, so ooh to take it easy. a loft municipal crews have been out as well. over by royersford, talking to the one plow operator. he said it was pretty big event overnight. but they got about three and a
6:16 am
half, 4 inches out in royersford. but he said it was pretty manageable, and they hope to have everybody pretty much cleaned up by later on this morning, and i did take a run through some the street back there, in royersford, and doing good job getting things together. i think the most difficult part of it is when folks get up they'll be shoveling a heavy, wet snow, i don't know if this will be something that the snow blower can handle, might jam up a little bit but at this point roads in fairly decent shape so far, nicole is. >> seeing lots of plow trucks, doing good job, are you seeing people out there? are there a lot of people on the roadways at this hour? >> no, not really. just folks like us from news radio, let people know, what's going on, hands full of folks who are out doing heading to work and the like, a we all do have to head to work for those kind of things. i will note that there was one of the penndot trucks, i
6:17 am
stopped over by twp. line road, and ridge pike, he was pulled over here, with the engine problems, but he got some relief. he got right back into the fight. so, those guys, those guys have been out all night making sure that things will be passable for folks when they actually do get up and get out, maybe do their saturday morning routine breakfast shopping whatever. so, so far so good. as i said, the precipitation has stopped out here, so at this point the only thing folks will face is probably just a little bit of shoveling to get the sidewalks and the driveways cleared. >> all right, not bad for a saturday morning hopefully they can all stay home though and just relax inside. mark abrams, thanks for the report. we do appreciate it. >> you bet. >> all right, it is 6:17 right now. let's check in with katie for more on that forecast, see how things are shaping up weather wise. >> certainly our eyewitness weather watcher network has been in full effect here so far nicole. see if we can get this.
6:18 am
you can do it. there you go. all right let's get to it. 32 degrees the temperature sent in for us from michael over the last just 15 minutes really in mount gretna he reported with some rain falling right now. but he's already seen wet heavy snow in his location. notice, when you look around the weather watcher network in general, we've found temperatures that are very marginal with freezing. that's where that threat for some icy slushy conditions come into play here. let's take you on the extreme east here. tim mitchell sending in rain as well, within the last 15 minutes, seeing the rain still falling. 35 degrees, and notice, the breeze as well kicking in here, 15 miles per hour, straight up out of the northeast, as this nor'easter continues to pull away. let's go to one more, 34 degrees, the temperature sent in from bill laden in upper darby where he's actually seen it turn over to little bit of mix of rain as well. soap, with these temperatures, so close to freezing, yes you might see rain actually falling from the sky. but it will very likely cause you some slick travel out
6:19 am
there. although, as we just heard in mark's report, things have been looking very, very nice indeed out on a lot of the roadways, all things considered, at least. now, i want to take you out to storm scan. we have to check in there, too. to the wider zoom for you first and for most, where we've found the rain falling the snow falling the picketing taking place but do you see how the heaviest of that snow and rain is starting to pull away? so, there is definitely still moisture pent up here that's got to work its way through. and you're not going to be completely out of the woods here until we see all of this get out of here. that will will happen generally later this afternoon, but the brunt basically the snow amount, have essentially occurred, you might have little bit more tack onto that as the day progresses which we'll get to. meanwhile i have to talk about what's coming down the pike here too guys. once we get through the first storm, another one already brewing. it is just typical clipper system. it will move swiftly through bring generally some light snow to the area. but, the timing on that one is going to be a lot less than ideal because it does appear
6:20 am
it will be coming sunday night and just in time for the morning rush then on monday. meanwhile, looking back to what's going on with the current storm winter weather advisories all in the purple, winter storm warnings still in effect until 11:00 a.m. for basically our northwest suburbs outside of philadelphia. so that's where you will be getting in on the best snowfall totals, that certainly is what we've been hearing in all of our field reports from all of our trooper reporters out there battling the elements. 62 degrees look at the oddball out. one of these things obviously not like the other. the charleston temperature. once we get the front through temperatures will begin to bottom out in that location, too. but it gives you a sense of the stark contrast between these air masses. we also had so much moisture to work with, too. let's jump ahead to the clipper system i mentioned a moment ago. it will be sipping across the northern tier of the united states, as they tends to do sunday. so by sunday night we begin to see it moving n you can see thousand will generally be delivering light snow. it could be with us for the better part of the day. if i had to gave you a guess
6:21 am
pinpoint how much we would be talking at this point generally speaking, i would say, we are looking at window of one to three maybe locally up to 4 inches out of t because we are very likely going to keep just enough cold air that shouldn't be too much mixing mixing in if that particular track pans out. 39 degrees our expected high with some rain, some ice some snow. it will continue to come through in just scattered rounds of left over showers but it may still than wintery mix. don't bling, you might miss the break sunday, by sunday night that next clipper comes along delivering more light snow. once we get past monday, yes, it will be cold, but we should evening out quieter weather through the better part of the rest of next week. that means now really good time to be download g and using our cbs philly weather app. you can get live radar track the storms as they move through the area, and you can find that app for free right now on google play and itunes. nicole, back to you. >> kate, thanks. new this morning parents brave the freezing wet weather to stand in line for their
6:22 am
child's education. registration at school lane charter school in bensalem for the next school year begins today at 9:00. how about that for timing? the school is so popular apparently, there is waiting list for the current year 360 students. eager parents started lining up yesterday afternoon hoping to provide their child with a bert education. >> the boys currently are in bensalem school district. i'm not happen which their education. >> for better education. right now they're in philadelphia school system. we just recently moved to bensalem. so trying to get them into really good school for their education purposes. >> doors were set to open at 9:00 this morning. because of inclement weather school officials allowing parents to wait inside starting at 6:00. >> it is 22:00 right now. did you get some gift cards for christmas that you just don't want? well, coming up how to re-sell them so you can get something you may really want. we'll be right
6:24 am
6:25 am
>> back on "eyewitness news" with live picture from the cbs-3 mobile weather lab looking at westhampton burlington county. this is orchard lane off wood lane road. meteorologist, katie fehlinger, and carol erickson along with the latest on the storm about 15 minutes away. >> right now 6:25, even though gift cards often make perfect gifts, it is easy for them to accumulate and go unused. in this morning's tech minute, kara tsuboi shows you ways to sell the gift cards and even
6:26 am
buy more at a discount. >> reporter: large on like market plate for gift cards. members can sell unused cards for up to 92% of its value. that will amount is determined by the retailers popular tip some gift cards are obviously in more demands than other. looking to purchase a card through the site it, offers up to 35% savings. lets people set their own prices for selling back gift cards, whether totally unused or even partially used. the mobile feet sure a great benefit since you can brouse for electronic gift cards while shopping in a store. buy one for less than its current value and you just saved big time as the cards can be electronically download dollars onto your phone. a nice feature of the website card hub is the ability to sell and buy gift cards from either facebook friends or people who live nearby. checking the box great way to rid yourself of local gift card or boutique. gives more deliberately -- delivery options for the cards. cnet.com for cbs-3 "eyewitness
6:27 am
news" i'm kara tsuboi. >> more eye on the storm coverage continues on cbs-3 "eyewitness news", this is live look for in you franconia, montgomery county as the lou he is couple of inches every snow there. plows have been out. we'll have live update for you complete team three coverage is coming up next.
6:30 am
delaware valley. started overnight. weather conditions are changing this morning. meteorologist, katie fehlinger here with the latest coming up. the nor'easter has moved on, the sun coming up, and some of ruscomb g back to work. take a look. we'll show you what montgomery county is like one of the hardest hit areas. up next. and, the cbs mobile weather lab out on the roads checking on the latest conditions. wet roads and plenty of slick spots out there you'll definitely want to take it slow if you're planning to head out this morning. today is saturday, january 24th, good morning to you. thanks so much for joining us. i'm nicole brewer, and thank you so much for joining us, katie, great to have you. >> my pleasure. >> second weekend in row dealing with winter weather. kind of mixed bag overall. >> yes definitely different situation. we've got a lot of moisture to work with, a lot of people already seeing very impressive snowfall totals, especially far north because you kept the cold air nice and long for good stretch of time. we were actually seeing some snowfall totals coming in as much as an inch per hour through some of the northern
6:31 am
counties, and we start things off actually by taking you right out to one of the fields cameras here, live look nicole live neighborhood network here at pleasant valley middle and high school. no school in session. but the cameras tells the story. winter wonder lands out there. 29 degrees very minimal breeze at this point. but we will start to see that i think kick up later tonight. now, back to storm scan3 notice, this is three-hour loop, brunt of the storm essentially departing. we are not in the clear obviously, still these left over scattered pockets of rain ice and snow. and i think that's generally the story today. through the midday, you're going to continue to find these left over little batches of rain, ice and snow. the wintery mixing, for lack of better term here, that will continue to move on through. because you see that back edge? it is just east of cincinnati, now into eastern kentucky, that's what's going get through before we can say okay we wipe our hands clean. until that happens yes we've got some time to kill. we have to get you through the mid afternoon at least before
6:32 am
that will completely clear away. winter weather alerts are posted still for essentially the northern tier of our area. the pink shaded areas indicating winter storm warnings. and we've got winter weather advisories also still extending into philadelphia county and delco. so southern new jersey and delaware, it is essentially still rain for you but here's generally what you can expect region-wide. generally, again that's the key word, throughout the rest of the day. up until noon, you will continue to find these pockets, of wintery mixing of rain ice and snow through 6:00 p.m., more scattered as the back edge of this system rolls through and then, six to midnight ending up with just a breeze kicking in and the clouds eventually starting to break. temperatures pretty critical here all basically flirting with or at the freezing mark. and that does mean, that things could still be freezing on contact as they fall from the sky. so, you want to just keep that in mind, and you're going to hear us prefer this all morning long, do you have slow it down. you have to leave the space between vehicles. but, generally speaking, i would say the worse is now
6:33 am
over. it is the aftermath that is now the concern with these left over rain and snow bands that will continue to rotate through, as this very large and very moisture-rich storm starts to rotate away, as well. so that said, we've seen pretty decent snow so far. certainly some heavy rain as women. for the latest on what you will actually find as you hit the road, we will sent things out to meteorologist car or erickson, liver with us with the cbs-3 mobile weather lab. hi carol. >> katie, we are in the parking lot of the national weather service in westhampton. and they do a phenominal job. and they have to have done the exact, well, here i am, but now we go back, here we see them cleaning up this parking lot here at the national weather service. soap yes, it snows where they also predict the snow. and they're doing a big clean up job here. now, right ahead of us, is wood lane road. this is a pretty heavily traveled area, along here, but i was just down at the wawa,
6:34 am
and one of the people that works there says that if we take a left here, we will finds a street that nobody has bothered to deal with. so we're going to see down here exactly what we find. and i think that is generally what you find this morning. you find areas that are just wet, see the pavement not icy, fine other areas where it is all slush, water on top of that, and melting going on underneath. so you've got some casino of crazy layer cake going on, none of which would you want to have a piece of. so just obviously take it very, very easy. now, as we come down here, and these are the counties services through here, the burlington county animal shelter, great dogs over here, as well, off wood lane road. we are now approaching the area where they say that a plow hasn't even seen it. and this car he felt, was the first one down there. so you may be the canary in the mine as they say and be the first one out on your
6:35 am
street as well. we're at 35 degrees right now. as we head up into this area, and let's see, you have to go one way or the over, we'll take a left here. and see whether or not what i what i heard, over heard, at the wawa okay, i was evesdropping, is actually true, that some of these roads right through here, after you get off very plowed one, you find a very unplowed one. and i think the trucks have come through. that's the other thing that we've noticed this morning. go down one side of a road, and you go oh, boy, this is horendous, you come back five minute later and a plow has been by. so the crews are out everywhere. the local people are out. that will was a private service that was cleaning up the national weather service lot. they've got them out at the hospitals, throwing around salt on the steps any place that somebody is likely to slip or sue. so you can see here we go, this this is the road at the man it weigh -- wawa said didn't look good. i've seen worse out here this
6:36 am
morning, some of the neighborhood streets are far worse than what we're dealing with through here. so that's the look this morning. it is one that is ever changing. and within minutes the same spot you went through looks completely different. but at least the temperatures are coming up this morning. nicole? >> that's good news for us, carol, thank you. we do appreciate that. more video coming into us overnight. this is phoenixville, chester county a loft icy roads, slick sidewalks there, as well. the same story goes in willow grove bees montgomery county, thick flakes were coming down throughout the morning, enough to make the roads slick there as well. reminder for but school concellations today. you will see them at the bottom of your screen. you can also get them for you any time at cbsphilly.com. for now we continue our team coverage in montgomery county. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live via mobile three in frank cone ya township. steve, what can you tell us about that?
6:37 am
>> reporter: nicole, it is cold, it is wet outside. why not do a weather hit from the truck? we will take a walk outside. i'll show you aroundment take a look at the grounds 4 inches accumulated overnight, most of that, though, as we've been saying, has moved on. what we have in the air little bit of flurry, little bit of wet, kind of rain, sleet, mixture settling over this pack in snow. and then if you can push back to the road, i don't know how far we can get out there at this point, but you can see the plows. almost seen more plows than i have at this intersection than cars this morning. there have been so many that have been taking care of the roads, the parking lots, and specially these major intersections, where we have a lot of cars moving through at this point. but again no major problems to report. only on those very untreated side street, the bridges the overpasses, the places where snowfall totals accumulate. and these crews cannot get to. but we've seen many many crews, this morning.
6:38 am
also seeing some great folks out here, we've got pam bruner from franconia. hi franconia cafe. she saw us out here, decided to come on over, brought some java with her. why not chat for little bit? how has it been this morning? you guys get up very early. you're in there, the shop opens at 5:00 o'clock. what was the drive in like this morning? >> it was little treacherous coming down. they didn't have too many things plowed up and open. but we got in, good to have four wheel drive. >> reporter: we were talking maybe 36 degrees now? it almost feels kind of balmy right? not bad at all? >> no, it doesn't feel too bad at all. would you think for all of the snow on the grounds it would feel colder. >> reporter: how has the driving been lately? we see the roadways are clear we've been talking about how many plows there have been out this morning. but now this wet weather is kind of over this pavement and untreated stuff. how has that been? have you had any problems this morning getting out? >> nothing too serious. but definitely want to be pre
6:39 am

saturday session. just ahead on cbs this morning, saturday. nicole? >> all right anthony, elaine thanks so much for the preview. see you at 7:00. right now, it is 6:46. let's check in with katie. morning, kate. >> i good morning nicole. you know what, we've had real great observations, and pictures coming in from our eyewitness weather watcher network. sam warden sending in, i love his caption can't probably see this, very small but picnic time. i don't know what picnic he's going to, but you know what, one of our funny men he likes to give us funny comment. i appreciate that, and a smile to the face, storm coverage. great shot too. see exactly where we are from douglas ville here michael trot hand. at us422 near royersford, in the shot with us, snow coming down, gee to another picture beautiful black and white view. this taking it 6:10 this morning from phil, i know he's in philadelphia, and beautiful view for us us there as well. just really excellent pictures
6:47 am
coming in from you guys. we love to see them. let's take a look at the snowfall totals that you as well as have been sending into us, not necessarily in order here, from lowest to highs but gives you a sense whatever we found in a lot of the different areas. eagles ville, swellings ville willow grove norristown, become g up at least two and a half inches, in some spots pick up more than that. yes, we have done very well, so far this morning. with the snow, dow want to show you what's going on currently on storm scan3, and i have to tell you the brunt at this point, has essentially moved through. let's take you next to the radar, we will show you what we've got going on out there. so we are looking at three hour loop here. heaviest of the precipitation whether it was rain, snow, or ice, it has basically now become more of a new england concern. what we have left at this point, pretty much the brunt is through still going to find these residual pockets though, of wintery mixing. that's the easiest way to put it. essentially left over rounds, of scattered but locally
6:48 am
steady, rain ice or snow showers, that come through. so, that does mean that obviously not out of the woods just yet. when we zoom it all the way out, you got huge storm here. i mean, not the most organized system we've ever seen, essentially looks like it is just a big old slug of moisture moving up the coast. it doesn't have that classic comma shape to it. and frankly very miss behaved storm system for forecasters. this is rough 11 to forecast, but doing well it looks like in terms of how much snow it called forment back edge here, you can see how things begin to gradually clear out. so once that back edge is through, we will do the same. we will eventually see the clouds break for not necessarily sunshine, but maybe little bit of starlight through the overnight. now we have got to look ahead to tomorrow night. you can't bling or you might miss the break. already another system waits in the wings guys, by tomorrow throughout the day it will be rolling quickly say sipping right along, through the northern tier of the us. as clippers tends to do. and it will eventually roll through our area, so sunday night, monday morning
6:49 am
especially looking particularly dicey. never good news when it comes to the timing after monday morning drive. so, you know, we will be obviously here for to you get you through t but it is looking as though we have good shot to pick up several inches of additional snow region wide this time. let me walk you through future weather too. as i mention the bulk of the moisture beginning to pull away. what's this? all the sudden more moisture pops up. you will find additional rounds of snow, ice throughout late this morning. now, into the early afternoon late morning early afternoon probably catch a break, but his is like the last gasp as that back edge pushes through. and because it will be at two 3:00 p.m. by that point most of us, ends up with just rain showers at that point. and then it starts to clear out. so by 6:00, 7:00 p.m. start to see the clouds break. all going to start to see that breast kick in. let me go region by region for you here. >> total up to 6 inches or so around the lehigh valley,
6:50 am
berks count region poconos snow and ice continue, maybe ends withing just little rain as i showed you second ago. down a bit further to the south. >> slush the best words what your commute is like, left over showers will also roll through. again, really the rest of the region wet slushy, through philadelphia, the i-95 corridor essentially, and then down toward the shore points lingering rain, all you really will be left with at this point. gusts to up 25 miles per hour, blustery, raw kind of day, with the rain. how much additional snow might we actually finds here? we've seine sinkly what we're going to see already. so you might get one more inch on top of what's currently out there. maybe up to half inch. even as far south as upper berks, western chester county. so might add more to the totals for you, but the bulk already taken place, fallen to the gown. meanwhile visibility a lot less than ideal. further north you travel they've gotten better down toward the philadelphia international airport. actually seeing clear as day here down in wildwood at those
6:51 am
particular observation sites across the bay into dover too. skiers rejoice. this is good stuff for you. you have got the nice heavy snow. it will make for some slick slopes. but as we look ahead not sunday, my bad sun initially snowfall coming at night then monday some light snow headed our way from that clipper i mentioned just moment ago. so brief little break between systems, monday is our clipper, by it nature it will zip through quickly this one might hang out for most of the day, then tuesday wednesday thursday, look pretty quiet gradually rebounding thermometer, friday, chance, still seven days away, but could see another rounds of snow. guys, if you love watching weather, your totally into this storm. you can be featured just like all the other folks were in our newscast by becoming eyewitness weather watcher. sign up right now cbsphilly.com/watchers. nicole, back to you. >> katie thanks. many identity thieves do their work on line, some still rely on old-fashioned methods like digging through the trash. that's why shreading your documents is so important. in this week's angie list

aftermath issues here on storm scan3, still see it, heaviest moisture pulls away, but more on the horizon off to the south and west. so here's the general time line. key word general. because it may depend on location what you find. but up until noon, because temperatures still cold enough, we will be looking at the wintery mix of rain, ice snow residual showers through the rest of the day and it is primarily rain though, as temperatures climb and then we do clear out this evening and we're done with it later on tonight for sure. >> all right katie thanks so much. reminder for you we plan extra hour of our eye on the storm coverage begins at 9:00 right here on cbs-3. we will also have updates throughout cbs this morning saturday. we hope you'll stay with us, we hope you'll stay warm, and sa
