7:15 am
the computer mod else that we could be dealing with a lot of snow and many of the other says we will definitely be dealing with some snow. the storm has not yet formed yet. we will get into all of that. we've got a system unbelievable sky this morning. well, blue skies, pink skies are, or even better i guess. but lets take a look at storm scan three right now. it is quiet. this is day to make your preparations, get the food, make hure your heating systems are working, pay the the heating bill if you need to, that sort of thing. bring those pets inside. make sure neighbors dot right and legal thing and bring their pets inside. no suffering in this system. because we've got plenty of warning on this one. 36 degrees in philadelphia 33 trenton. three wilmington. even though temperatures are right about freezing mark be really careful. the these temperatures can be above the freezing mark and you can still have ice on the ground. i just want you to know it is very possible to fall. i'm glad there wasn't a camera on me when i did that this morning. like a ton of bricks.
7:16 am
winter storm watch, in effect over the entire area. this goes from this monday a afternoon until tuesday morning. it the is for the entire area. so, if you see this know that there could be an issue for travel a at least. now we get this storm in two pieces, first one is easier piece of it it comes late are on tonight and overnight with some light snow and it will probably slow the morning commute the just a little bit. nothing compared to what could becoming though by the time we get to monday night as that storm, then gets off of the coast, and then picks up a a lot of energy and then it intensifies and that will be the problem, and then we will be finding as it intensifies additional snow is possible and the speed and the track will determine the amount and have in the been determine yet and that is one of the many reasons that this one is so hard to call. let's put the a clock on it. the a as we necessity right now, subject to change, and probably will change timing wise placement, sets. thinks 11:00 o'clock tonight do we see snow from the
7:17 am
clipper off to the west? it is possible. the as we get to 1:00 in the morning we will see some snow in the area as well. 4:00 o'clock do we see a lull except to the west? it is possible. and then by noon time tomorrow this is when we will start to see a transition thinking about happening off the coast. we will start to see maybe some rain some snow, maybe a brief bit of mix out there and we will be watching for this now this is monday at 11:00 o'clock at night, snow coming in the area. do you see some rain in the shore, some wind. by 4:00 o'clock in the morning object tuesday, heavy snow starts to come down according to this computer model as this thing is forming off the coast. we will keep it going at 7:00 o'clock in the morning. i keep mentioning how difficult it is to call this. these are all of the computer models or four of them. there are plenty of others. these are the the four big ones. notice the difference in the amount they want to put over us by 7:00 o'clock tuesday morning. they even add a little to a foot, through the euro computer model believes. almost 10 inches, on the gfs,
7:18 am
which is another big one. the other two, three to 5 inches. i think it is probably safe to say, let's put the a range of three to 9 inches of snow possible, a as we will narrow that down as we get closer. forty today. today is a day we can get out and do whatever it is we need to do. tonight the 23 degrees. this is when you start bringing those pets in checking on your elderly friend and neighbors. get them some food. don't make them have have to go out in this. and then monies specially as we get in afternoon the heavier snow will be here and on tuesday morning but it starts overnight tonight as well. and then by wednesday it is gone and it the is just really really cold. now is a very good time to down load and use the cb. philly weather app. you can get live radar you can get storms tracked as they move through our area and you can find this on google play and itunes. diana. >> thanks, carol. time right now is 7:18. lets see how traffic is moving here's ann evans in the the cbs-3 traffic center good morning ann.
7:19 am
>> good morning, diane a traffic isn't too bad out there but you have to be especially careful in the neighborhood and secondary roadways. they can be quite icy and many might be untreated. drive very carefully this morning watch out for ice patches on the roadways from snow that has melted and refrozen as ice this morning. we're looking at the ben franklin bridge, that is moving just fine this morning. no speed reductions. the betsy ross and commodore barry bridges are both reduced, 35 miles per hour still, some icy conditions on those area bridges. we will have move the traffic cam this morning, and this is to i-95, i-95, right at the blue route this morning, and we have no delays or problems on i-95, or the blue route. that is very latest from the cbs-3 traffic center, i'm ann evans now diana, back to you. thanks ann. carol answers your questions with this weeks ask the vet. >> could your pets go gluten free and all those anti sleep preparations still working. we will check that out with doctor jerry geffen, with

7:23 am
immune to frontline, that they have been just so much of it the out there, that the flees don't care bit anymore. >> over the years we worry about resistance to certain drugs. there has not been any evidence to show there is any resistance to the the front line. i recently attended a seminar on lym e disease carried by tics, which front line will kill and they have done studies and they show most of the time if the person is having flee and tics problems because they have such an overwhelming load that they need to exterminate in the area to kill the eggs and larvae still in the environment hatching, copping on the dog. they don't require to bite the dog to die but they have to run through the fur and pick up the toxins. so i think people are just seeing the cycle and they have to break the cycle will. >> and another big thing is gluten free as everybody is talking about it for people but now people are talking about it the for their pets because they think any allergies that they food allergy, must be a gluten problem so is there gluten free dog free.
7:24 am
>> there are dogs that get food allergies. usually to the protein part of the food and in the the wheat, it the is more of the gluten. dogs with gluten disease have digestive symptoms, vomiting, diarrhea. >> the not the the inching which is more commonly associated with the the protein. they can have diarrhea as well. >> so should pets put their, pet owners put their pets on gluten free because it is all of the rage with people or is that just being ridiculous. >> i think they can try it. there is in danger in it. it is very difficult to feed a complete diet of solely of hypo allergic food. even chewable medications of protein in them that well sit the dog off if they are allergic to food. it can be very difficult. >> okay. here's a question about, if your dog has a liver problem can you feed that liver problem, and make it less, or would you feed you are doing doesn't have any impact. >> problem with liver disease and dogs, it can be from back
7:25 am
tear, yeah viral parasite toxins. is there all kind of things for it. i think there are probably some benefits to certain diets, although diet is just one aspect of treating them. main thing toys fine the cause and treat that directly but certain diets can help the the body healing. you are what you eat as you say. it can be important. >> there is a prescription diet for that. >> yes, it is a liver diet and liver friendly. >> okay, all right. hopefully nobody has to deal with liver disease or any other kind of disease at all. i necessity you agree. she's a benjy breed, i think we can all agree on. that thank you for watching. doctor geffen for being here. miss m ivis we hope you are in a loving home very, very soon. we will see you next time. >> teachers in minnesota a have a new helper in the classroom. therapy dogs are helping young students read better and with more confidence. these are reading education assistance dogs or read, dogs like chloe, will sit and pennsylvania patiently listen to a store friday their first grade count are parts. nancy, and her therapy dogs

7:27 am
7:28 am
7:29 am
just approaching 7:30 this sunday morning and here we go again, we have an eye on the storm, just in time for the start of your workweek. for the very latest on its track, lets get to meteorologist carol erickson. good morning carol. >> good morning to you. it has not formed yet but it will be and that is why we are watching for it now. today is the day to make preparations for what could be a very disruptive storm in terms of snow heavy amounts of snow and also some blowing and drifting snow. lets take a look outside right now and take a deep breath and relax. atlantic city looks beautiful but it will be off the coast,
7:30 am
that will be adding to our woes as this system moves out in the waters and then we will find this nor'easter coming up the coast. the sunnies up bright, gorgeous, as we go to cape may too. 35 degrees there. even though those temperatures are above freezing through cape may and through many other sections, just be really careful of the ice this morning, because even with temperatures above freezing you can have the ice still on the ground. storm scan three, notice in our area, not much going on at all but also notice off to the west, and that is some piece of energy that will be a little clipper system. it comes on through here, overnight tonight, first part of tomorrow with light snow, say one to 3 inches of snow and then it keeps going off the coast and it starts to redevelop. it is not there just yet. that is one of the reasons that the computer models are just looking at it at the present time. all we have are a couple of clouds and a nice looking, quiet day. 36 degrees in philadelphia. thirty-three wilmington. thirty-three in trenton.

we are looking at our weather watchers there weighing in this morning. they are up early. they know this is their calm before the storm. our temperatures that they are calling in with are in the the 30's above the freezing mark but as we know temperatures can above freezing and you can still hang on to that stubborn ice on the ground. be so careful out there. we have a 35-degree temperature at the present time. we are finding that storm still. what does he have to say with that 35-degree temperature? cloudy sunday morning snowy monday, and you have got that right on the head phil, that is exactly right. we have another temperature of 35 degrees, and we are finding fire marshall joey, and he says that out in somerdale, dreary, gray mornings, the the calm before the storm. we're all saying that. and then tim mitchell is weighing in at 31 degrees. he is very accurate. if you have got one of these, use it. clear skies for now with the westerly breeze and time to break out the snow blower. oh yeah. snow blower maybe you with a

there you go. so winter storm watch is in effect for the entire area, monday afternoon, through tuesday morning, we could be finding heavy snow, inches of snow, out of this. just the early word that computer models do not have the track the intensity, the exact timing but we do know it should be during this time frame that the heavier snow occurs even though we will be finding snow before that. but that is from a lesser bit of the system coming up at that point. maybe if a stand somewhere elsie can get this thing to change. future weather, we have some cloud over us right now and then as we go into time by midnight we will start to see some snow coming in here. this is light snow from the clipper. it is one to 3 inches of snow. we will get it tomorrow morning in spots. the and then by the time we get in the afternoon, thinks where heavier snow band will start to think about forming. it does it start with some rain along the shore? do you get a slight bit of in mix? do you get an area without anything?
7:46 am
that is entirely possible. this thing tarts to crank up off of the coast this is a look at midnight late machine night, midnight early tuesday morning. we've got snow we've got a mix, maybe along the the shore areas, before even colder air starts to get wrapped in. i notice everybody is changing over to snow. this is snow tuesday morning. timing will be changing on this. this is the very latest, but the very latest, can change as we move on through the day as more and more computer information starts to come in. but it looks like the heavier amounts of snow are going to be on that, late monday to tuesday timetable. we still get snow before that though. we've got light snow developing tonight, period of snow, on monday and then a slow morning commute. now the morning snow will be light. that is the clipper system. then the heavier snow starts to come in here. here's what we're dealing with. i will run this again and we will see if they change. the bottom row, these are the names of the computer models

and they continue to stack up this snow. by the time it is done by tuesday, within of them says we have a foot of snow in philadelphia. another within ace that 10 inches of snow. another one says 5 inches of snow. another one says 3.5 inches of snow. so, until they get their acts together and get more information in the system and figure out this storm that has in the yet formed and in the moved off the coast it is pretty hard to get an exact amount but i think you should at least prepare for some impact full times especially as we go, in machine afternoon into tuesday morning. partly sunny today, dry during our daytime hours, 40 degrees, perfect to do whatever you need to do. 23 degrees tonight. it starts to get cold and the snow starts to come in overnight. it the is light snow. overnight, first thing tomorrow morning and then heavier snow later on, tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night, and then tuesday morning and then maybe rate through the first part of the afternoon. that is the timing you will want to really be careful. bring the the pets in. watch out for everybody. and just take it easy out
