malvern area. and they're out there no snow is falling at this point. we have seen through chester springs, and that sort every thing, that some snow had fallen overnight. but right now it is quiet giving these guys a perfect opportunity to get out and do something with these roads. >> some of them have drop office, that are fairly significant just with no shoulder and then down 50 feet. so this is one of the reasons that these people are out here to the extent that they are. now i want to also take you while we are following him the wet r graphic about counties to the south and east, going through some of the little bit warmer air. >> rain between seven a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and then the transition begins showers through there, by 8:00 p.m. until midnight change over to snow in a

earlier or stay home if you have to. so far we have pretty decent commute. just little after 6:00 a.m. little early don't have much in the way of volume starting to build in a little bit on 95 these are the southbound lanes at girard, headed toward center city area, you can see everything moving just fine, real now problems at all headed northbound. >> this is coming offer the ben franklin bridge off the vine st. way things moving fine. not a lot of wet roadways there at all. see everything looking basically pretty dry. so far for our morning commute, over in upper hanover, accident water street and state street, 422, an accident eastbound at keim street. actually pushed over to the shoulder do have delays and concellations at the philadelphia international airport. check with your airline to see if you are affected by that.

>> things to have slowed down. >> some are saying the calm before the storm. eye on the storm coverage continues with cleve bryan in pennsauken camden county. thousand looking out there? >> kind of peak a boo storm around 5:30, decent snow, cold little winnie maybe about 10 miles an hour or so roadways here looking great this is the area where 38 and 70 merge going into camden, for the commute into philadelphia. the roadways very clear dry traffic moving at normal pace. we know that overnight more than 2600 salt spreaders on new jersey dot roadways in camden county, have 70 pieces of equipment between spreaders and plows in place calling this all hands on deck winter storm every course the beginning part. so if you have ooh early morning commute smooth sailing into philadelphia.

>> let's update the breaking news this morning, the white house on lockdown after a suspicious device was found on the ground. a spokesperson now confirms the device is a drone. and does not pose a threat to anyone in the building. now the president and first lady are on a trip to india. they are not there. but again, a drone discovered on the grounds of the white house. we'll keep updates coming your way throughout the morning. >> into this morning, five people including two children. this home along the 800 block of east sanger street in lawncrest. first responders open doors and windows to help air out the home. told the children were taken to saint christoff areas to get checked out. the adults all went to jeannes hospital. and, what started as attempted robbery ends in a stabbing in hunting park. police say a man bumped a woman's car as she left a 7-eleven on mascher street. now, when she stopped we're told a man with a ski mask took her purse and then

stabbed her. investigators say the woman fired a gun but missed him. she then drove to a friends house here on wyoming avenue. we're told that woman is in stable condition. the family of missing bucks county teacher christopher tully says divers have recovered his body from the schuylkill river. the married father of three disappeared on january 6th after getting out of his parent car on ridge avenue east falls. tully worked at the middle bucks institute of technology for the last 12 years. and autopsy is pending. >> our time now 6:11, we do have our eye on the storm that could cripple the northeast blizzard warnings have been issued for 250-mile stretch. >> this storm, yes ask a monster, and could be historic. kately let you know exactly what it means for our area, on the other side. >> from the mobile weather

>> this is still basically storm that's in clipper mode if you will. starting to gather some moisture right now through virginia, just behind the name. there it is. see steadier rain across virginia, and yes we still got little rain out there because, it is still warm enough for it, far enough south. but here's what's going to happen. to the north and east, you've got the weaken storm still setting up a roadblock. then there is moisture and energy. that will drop in, around this trough, join up with this clipper, and turn it into almost a frankenstein-like monster where it has got a

mind of its own, will not leave us alone until tomorrow. winter storm warnings in the pink including philly being winter weather advisories further inland. so most of the delaware valley, is in a winter storm warning, but you know, regardless of the type of alert you've got you're still going to see pretty decent snow out of. >> this the lightest totals are still four-8 inches but talking six to up to a foot. 6 inches to up foot for philadelphia, and basically this vertical swat here down into southern new jersey, only few counties over the gradient gets tighter talking foot and a half in some of these spots and then it is a storm and a blizzards that could shutdown new york city. so if i dare say it, we're actually dodging the worse we are, because the blizzard conditions are confined to ocean, monmouth county on northeast, but this will still be very significant storm. the worse is tonight and early tomorrow morning about this time tomorrow morning still the worse of it, but a storm

>> oh, this will affect so many people, katie let's get the latest. >> yes, talking millions of people impact in the very significant way from this storm. but, it is still just starting to show its hands to us. we do essentially have what, you know, do you have some circulation here but what still looks to be unorganized system. the scattered variety of moisture in the way of some rain some snow, but this will gather intensity gather moisture, then hang out for basically 24 to almost 48 hours here. and our area, so here is a look at the winter weather alerts across our region. you have winter storm warnings, they don't start until noon in hot pink, winter weather advisories further inland ocean monmouth county you will have blizzard warnings also, beginning at noon. good general synopsis how this times out. we will still have light snow around, some. you may see little bit after

tips working on my puns but yes, see, there is not too much out there yet. >> essentially still in clipper mode with this storm system. and we showed that you wider zoom. dow want to zoom it out again. see the heaviest moisture picking up through portions of maryland virginia, and even back through central pa. so there is some steadier snow and rain, yes still warm enough for some rain. that will we are finding that moisture beginning to pick up little bit. and it is just a matter of time before it just turns into this monster of a nor'easter. now, outside we go to the whitfield elementary school. you can remember, keep that running tab at the bottom of your screen for all of the schools, delays, concellations through any storm coverage, but, certainly fresh blanket of the white stuff out there on the playground. and on the canopy there as well. now, blizzard warnings, yes some blizzard warnings, taking effect, in other words, it is inevitable that ocean monmouth counties will be finding tropical storm plus force wind gusts out there

white-out conditions, once the storm really intensifies all of these watches warnings and advisories take effect at noon, by the way and philadelphia will have a winter storm warning and then the further inland oddly enough lesser totals that we will find, little backward from what we would normally expect to find, i think that's what you usually think of. >> not necessarily this time. what happens tonight and even as early as the evening rush, the storm will be intensifying, gathering some moisture, and energy, so that's when you start to see this heavy snow, pounding down at a half inch to up to inch per hour. >> wind gust also easily below it and drift it archlet so, six to 12 inches as we wrap it up tomorrow. >> outside 95, things still moving along just fine

yet. getting some of the light flurries right now but the roadways are very dry. we're at the area where 38 and 70 merge roadways are dry i slid my boot across the surface, we break-in traffic. and very good traction right now. we know that new jersey dot and the county public works were out all day yesterday and through the evening. pre treating the roadways, and really they're getting little bit of bonus right now by not having precipitation walk, wash away, the salt treatment. i will have my cameraman point up toward the street light so get a frame of reference to see about the intensity of the snow. again, very light flakes coming down, casino of swirling, as they come around. we have a little bit of light wind maybe about 10 miles per hour. but if you are commuting into the city this morning, you can expect right now to have traffic pretty normal, and if you have things do you have do today, get those extra supplies, check out your wiper blades, i know mine were

you can always connect with us, as well, on social media using the hashtag cbs-3 snow. we continue to follow breaking news, security scare at the white house. small drone was found on the white house lawn overnight. the secret service pick up the drone and the white house press secretary said it does not pose a threat to anyone in the building. by the way president obama and the first lady out of the country but their daughters are reportedly staying at the white house with their grandmother. that's the latest on that situation. we will continue to follow it. the president is getting updates on that security situation, while he's in india. today is day two of his three-day trip there. the president and first lady attended the country's annual republic day festivities. from there president heads to saudi arabia, tomorrow before returning to our nation's capitol. once again we have our eye on the storm some of you may be waking up to some snow on the gown, but the big event sent for -- set for later today. snow and whole lot of it. kately break it all down for you when we come back.

good morning, family here's a live look at 422 the clipper system is moving through the area. but it is on its heals. a monster storm that's threatening to dump a foot of snow around the area. we've got you covered. we're watching it four. we want to check in with kate any just a minute first back out on some of the roads right now. >> mike denardo from sister station kyw1060 cruising around south jersey, just checked in with cleve in south jersey said it was looking pretty good watch are you seeing mike? >> i tell you i've been driving around for three hours, and haven't had to flip the wipers on once. so, it is snowing but very lightly, and it really isn't affecting the road surface at all at this point. we are southbound, on the new jersey turnpike, just getting off at the connector bridge,
