11:02 pm
until 6:00 p.m. tuesday. you you can see for monmouth county and also for ocean county with winds gusting 350 miles an hour. the wind a big player in this noreaster. you can see the moisture trying to pull back towards philadelphia. remember we said this was a different type of storm because we were relying on it being pull back in the city for that hefty accumulation. we have a wild card, inverted trough through central and western pa is creating some lifting air. we also have rising air with area of low pressure. that is creating almost like a micro climate of high pressure which means dry conditions with that sinking air and it's not allowing the snow to move towards the west. until this dissipates we will really be seeing the thrust of the storm moving into the fill area and it may take a while through the overnight for that western edge to break apart. we are seeing some banding going on right now and some heavier snow along the shore and of course in that warning area.
11:03 pm

11:20 pm
philadelphia over 16 years and i've never seen a blocking pattern develop like this one. take a look at what's going on storm scan three. we have an inverted trough off of central pennsylvania. with it we have some rising air. we also have our storm system, our noreaster off the coast. also a strong system with rising air. in between we have syncing air and that sinking air is almost acting like a little air of high pressure. when you have the summing air we have something called sub stand dense and that's creating a dry edge. if you live in the delaware valley and you're not seeing anything going on right now what's happening is this front to the west is blocking helping to block the snow from penetrating south jersey and heading into philadelphia. and as long as we see this right here it's really going to hold back our noreaster from moving wees ward. so we're going to watching overnight as this snow wedge does dissipate allowing the snow to move inland but it could be
11:21 pm
a little too late, especially for our northern western suburbs. we're going to keep a careful eye. dry for now, some heavier snow you can see down the snow and our blizzard warning area, even where justin was in atlantic city we're going to see some snow accumulating. the farther you go toward the west i think you're going to be seeing a very sharp cutoff because of this current set up. let's take a look at some of our eye with it in watchers. temperatures are pretty cold. we'll go through south jersey where the temperature is 29-degrees and margo is saying a few flurries in south jersey. to the west in reading, not much going on. the temperature 28 and right now winds out of 9 northeast. here's a look at the snow amounts, lakehurst 4 inches fairlawn # .4, black but, 1.2.
11:22 pm
so not cumulating much so far with the exception of extreme earn jersey. philadelphia is 29, 19-degrees in the poconos. dover is 29. we'll see our storm intensify right on queue overnight pushing back the moisture but whoa have that blocking system going on. you can see our current models the anti-inflammatory just came in at 2.3 inches for the city the gfs just came in as 2.3 for the city. so hedging for lower accumulations especially in the city of philadelphia. you you can see 12 to 18 in that warning area. 8 to 12 even during toward atlantic city, parts of burlington county. four to eight as you you head toward the western part of burlington county. in south philly, delaware county toward the south and west you can see two to four inches where we do think that heavy snow will not penetrate overnight tonight. so we're still seeing some good snow accumulations through south
11:23 pm
jersey. you can see in philadelphia kind of split in two between four and 58 and 2 to 4 to the south and west. doylestown four to eight heading towards toms river and then along the shore, ocean county and monument 12 to 18. overnight the snow does get going and slowly progresses westward. the high tomorrow 30-degrees with some morning snow and on the exclusive i with its seven day forecast, wednesday is quiet, thursday more clouds a clipper moves in, some snow friday morning, not a lot and then saturday is quiet. sunday light snow, here we go again, monday the temperature 30-degrees. we will be watching this all night, believe me. we get an updated forecast any time with the cbs weather app. share your storm pictures with us. download the app now on i tubes and google play of course. katie and justin and myself will be with you tomorrow morning and we'll check any changes. it's a jersey storm and it look to appear that itself really
11:24 pm
going to stay that way. > thanks so much for keeping your eye on it. we will follow the weather throughout the night as things continue to develop. join i with it in for the latest on the storm. on the latest on traffic and school delays. we start extra early in the morning at 4:00. next we will take you into the i of the storm. new england also in the path, boston getting ready to face another big storm. we will goo there when eye with its news continues.
