nicole. >> yeah, ukee, erika, we have been here for 20 minutes and you are right, you can confirm that unfortunately a man and woman living inside that home have perish in that fire. it is happening here on the 400 block of daily streets in south philadelphia. we're told that a police officer was first to arrive on the scene here and attempted to rescue those two people living inside, unfortunate thely the the fire here just too widespread, too strong for him to make that rescue as i mentioned those two people living inside perish due to the flames. we're told we're only two people inside there were no rescues made in this fire. of course, fire crew is a arrived shortly thereafter and was able to get this fire under control in 20 minutes but yeah, you are looking at video here and you can see this place is just gutted. so must have been a crazy fire. i did speak with the neighbor living next door and it didn't seem like there was too much damage to their

properties, so that is some good news but really just a sad, sad scene here a tragic fire again claiming the life of two people and sending them. police officer who was attempting to make that rescue to temple university hospital, we're told that he is okay. so again that is some good news but he did apparently sustain some injuries, some burns to his body. that is very latest live from south philadelphia, nicole brewer cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> nicole, thank you. also breaking news right now philadelphia police are trying town ralph a mystery what starts as a car crashing in the house end in a homicide investigation. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins us from olney to bring us up to date. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning. when police arrived on the scene they thought they were dealing with the car accident a van that had crashed into a house, one person was severely injured, bleeding in the front seat of the van, another person was outside of the vehicle also bleeding and he started talking to police.

the it wasn't until about 30 minutes later when both were taken to the hospital and within of these men died did police learn they have been both shot in the head. definitely a strange course of events here in olney unfolding overnight. the philadelphia crime scene unit a had been here all morning long and they have been since wrapped up and moved out but van remains here this morning. this van crashed at north american and clarkson in olney just before 1:00 a.m. police say there were five men inside. a 21 year-old was shot once in the back of the head and pronounced dead in the hospital. a 20 year-old man was shot once in the hand and once in the head and taken to einstein and he is in critical condition. again, did he not tell police while on the scene he was shot, at all. police found a gun in the car. they also found what appears to be drugs lets take a listen. >> the minivan did cause some structural damage to the private residents. some of the stones and some have the bricks have been damaged and the the the inside of the property the the

"eyewitness news" at the scene of the 4600 block of green street. fire fighters found one person unresponsive, inside of the home just after 2:00 this morning. that victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, and investigators are now searching for a cause.

philadelphia police are looking for the gun man who robbed a fairmount bar and made off with $1,000 in cash. the heist happened around 12:30 at urban bar at 21st and fairmount. police do not have a great description of the suspect but they tell us that in one was hurt. happening today president obama heads to philadelphia to speak before house democrats. he will speak at a dinner at the sheraton society hill. house democrats are on a three day retreat while hammering out their legislative a agenda to 114th congress. the vice-president biden will speak to them tomorrow morning. also today long time philadelphia city councilman jim kenny resigns so he can run for mayor. city rules prevent ken friday officially launching his campaign until he gives up his current job. kenny spent the the last 23 years as the the councilman at large. he will enter race for mayor against three other candidates with more expect to jump in before the may primary. accused trooper killer

eric frein will be formally arraigned in the pike county courtroom where prosecutors will argue their attempt to seek the death penalty. frein will take part via closed circuit tv from prison. he is accused of ambushing two pennsylvania state troopers last september, and then leading authorities on a 48 day manhunt. his lawyer says that frein intend to plead in the guilty. philadelphia city employee is behind bars unable to post $25,000 bail in the brutal beating of the teenage girl on a septa trolley this man damon oliver turns himself into detectives yesterday. police say he is the man shown in cell phone video attacking a 17 year-old girl on a route 15 trolley last week. we spoke to one of his neighbors about the allegations. >> coward. any man who touches a little girl is a coward. i got boys. my son took their hand on a woman there will be a problem. >> "eyewitness news" has learned oliver works for parks and recreations department. he was charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment

we are live in a deadly row home fire in the 400 block of bailey street. two people were killed and a police officer was injured trying to rescue the victim. fire broke out on the first floor at 1:30 this morning no word on the cause. police are investigating this crash in olney and the two men found the shot, in the head inside of a minivan. one victim is dead and other is in critical condition. vehicle crashed in the home on north american street around 12:45 this morning. it is 5:13. here's traffic and weather together katie. >> good morning everyone. it been a quiet day. later tonight the a different story. just a little bit of the different story because anything we see in the way have of snow is very modest. it is really going to produce more nuisance for folks trying to travel tomorrow morning more than anything. lets show you first outside in the live neighborhood network taking this live look down the shore in rehoboth, specifically outside boardwalk plaza. the basically any snow that managed to fall in recent days has had a chance to get pushed

is take a look at these headlights picking up the sheen on the snow. never approach our highways and byways lightly. even if we're not seeing those flurries just yet you can still have black ice. the speed sensors high up in the 50's no delays for mass transit and things at the the a airport are just fine erika. >> vittoria, thank you. develop right now fire fighters in san francisco are battling this deadly, huge apartment fire, it has been burning since last night. you can see massive flames right here shooting out of the building. just a huge blaze there. one person was killed and at least six others were hurt when the flames ripped through the apartments. the fire broke out just before 7:00 and it is still burning right now. it is too early to tell what sparked that fire. well, chaos caught on camera after a brawl breaks out inside city hall meeting in st. louis. this was the the scene last night at the the the first public hearing on police oversight board that was proposed after the shooting death of michael brown in nearby ferguson.
