center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". ♪ tonight at 11:00, we are tracking snow. a few flakes are falling in philadelphia as we bundle up against the bitter cold. in the pock notice, the snow is piling up. we are tracking this system on storm scan3 and we're eyeing the potential for even snow come the weekend. good evening i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. meteorologist kathy orr is in the weather center tonight with the most up to date information on these latest rounds of winter weather. kathy, what can we expect? >> for this evening and overnight we're talking about more light snow and on storm scan3 we're looking at it waves of snow moving through the delaware valley and as you look, you can see some brighter white spots and a little bit of rain mixing in as well especially as you go through delaware and parts of south jersey. where you see these lavender darker colors near upper dublin even trenton that is where we're seeing the snow sticking and coming down a little bit heavier

heavier. northeast philadelphia some light flurries but you can see in south philadelphia, a little bit of a deeper return and that is where we are going to be seeing some of those areas of snow more moderate. still expecting a coating to an inch that's just about it. temperatures fairly cold out l you can see 33 in philadelphia but 28 in allentown only 21 degrees in the pock notice. future weather shows that band of snow moving through. then break and then a few more snow showers coming through overnight. even during tomorrow morning. there could be some slick spots. so this is what we expect. a coating to an inch of snow across the region. not everywhere as it will be spotty overnight. as you head toward our extreme northern and western suburbs closer to that inch mark one to twenty fours of snow possible where it's been sticking most of the night in reading allentown and the poconos. so even though you may be seeing a few snow showers now we'll take little bit of a break overnight and then more snow showers possible during the early morning hours and into friday. allow extra time for your morning commute because there could be some slick spots. we go back to storm scan3.

this is the first round of the snow that we'll be seeing as you can see spotty snow showers throughout philadelphia. but after this system is out of here we have a better chance of seeing potential for at least moderate snow with this. it's an area of low pressure a lot of moisture near the baja of california will will travel eastward by super bowl sunday this could be a snow maker for us. we'll talk more about that coming up with the seven day forecast. jess. >> all right, kathy, thank you. we'll be tracking snow the latest forecast and traffic conditions all in the morning before you head out the door tune in "eyewitness news" starting at 4:30am right her on cbs3 and starting at 7:00 on the cw philly. breaking news about the man charged in the septa trolley attack. damon oliver was suspended from his job tonight witness intend to dismiss. oliver works for the philadelphia department of park and recreation despite app extensive criminal roar. and tonight the mother of the 17 year old oliver allegedly attack attacked wants to know why he was working for the city in that role. take look at this cell phone

video of the attack on the septa route 15 trolley last week. the victim named shea suffered a broken nose and a black eye. she'll have surgery tomorrow. yesterday police arrested oliver for that attack and we learned he has criminal history going back to 1994. he was found guilty in 1994 for aggravated assault he plead guilty to two simple assault charges one in 2003. the other in 2006. he's worked for the city since 2008. >> a little bit more harming he worked for parks and recreation. less public place for him to work. >> so why was a man with his criminal hit reworking for the city? spokesman for mayor michael nutter defended his hiring telling "eyewitness news" the business community the non-profit sector and the pub look sector need to help returning set sense to get the training and job opportunities they need to become part of our

growing economy. >> robbed again new at 11:00 o'clock tonight a church started by a philadelphia police chaplain is hit for the second time in a month. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown is live with more on what was stole license and what police are looking for now. natasha? >> reporter: chris the pastor of this church is actually been a police hierarchal lynn for the past six years or so now. and now more than ever she's depending on police to find the man who's burglarized her church twice in the last month. >> but i just think it's just awful that you think that it's okay to go in there and steal and rob. >> reporter: burglary in a place of worship. surveillance cameras aren't enough to deter a brazen burglary from targeting that is church in southwest philadelphia. not once but twice. >> i cried but i stopped crying and we're going to finish this. we started it and we're going to finish. >> pastor beverly clayburn's

tears determined to fine this man who first broke into the newly constructed church overnight and december 13th. the latest break in happen at 7:30am january 25th. he's seen hurdling a fence in broad daylight making off with $8,000 worth of copper piping and plumbing fixtures. >> the video is pretty good. i mean this daytime one. 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. when he enters. you see a good shot of his face and you also see a decent shot of the car park across the street he gets into. >> when the pastor isn't in the pulpit she's one of dozen police chaplain in the 12th district. now in the finishing stages of construction that began in july another blow to a community in need of and sir laying. >> we will not have some idiot decide that he wants to vandalize our community and put -- hold us at bay and make us be afraid. >> reporter: well, police tell us they believe this suspect is getting away in dark colored suv possibly a navigator.

meantime the pastor of the church tells us tonight that between these two burglaries they're now dealing with about $18,000 worth of damage to their church. at southwest detectives, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> what a shame. natasha, thank you very much. well also in you tonight police in bristol borough say that a man who appears to be utility worker is actually a criminal and he's stolen from the least one home around jefferson and third avenues. police say in that case the homeowner allowed the man inside inside. he stole money and medicine. the thief wore blue uniform with baseball hat with the words water department. >> tonight mayor nutter is reactioning that story you saw first on cbs3 "eyewitness news". allegations of on duty sex among members of the philadelphia fire department. investigative reporter walt hunter broke this story earlier this week. mayor nutter today expressed concern over those allegations. officials are weighing disciplinary action against systems 12 male members of the department suspected of engaging in sexual activities with a

female member at firehouses and in a fire department vehicle. >> it's significant. very complicated. a lot of details and we're going to go through it as we would any other you know, claim or series of allegations. >> the mayor went on to say that there may be reforms of department policy as a result of the investigation. pennsylvania state treasurer rob mc cord announced he will resign from office on february february 12th to return to the private sector. this comes as the associated press reports federal authorities are looking into the campaign related activity of mc cord. the democrat pumped $2.2 million of his own money into his unsuccessful run for governor last year. the treasury department says it can't confirm the existence of any investigation. president obama is back at the white house tonight after quick trip to our city. he left philadelphia international airport a little over one hour ago. of course, the president was in town to fire up democratic

lawmakers. >> tonight we're learning more about what colleges are doing to stop sexual assaults on campus. the university of pennsylvania has announced the hiring of a sexual violence investigative officer. starting february 1st, his job will be to investigate alleged sex crimes on campus and also help prevent them. last year, the department of education gave some colleges some guidance on how to handle the issue. and dartmouth college in new hampshire pledging to tackle sexual assault and birch drinkers students are prohibited from drinking hard alcohol on campus and required to learn about sexual violence prevention every year. >> a child and her grandmother are shaken up in a road rage incident that was caught on tape tape. >> stop it! >> that woman jumped out of her car and attacked sherri norman you can hear her granddaughter

crying in the back seat this happened in north carolina. the grandmother recorded the confrontation on her cell phone. she says this woman almost ran her off the road while she tried to pass her on the left. >> she broke my handle on my car, and then i had my seat belt on and she grabbed my seat belt and my hair at the same time. >> that driver was arrested. she has been charged with reckless driving and assault. tonight we're hearing from the pennsylvania woman who helped get a controversial super bowl ad pulled from tv. >> so glad you made it home. >> the company go daddy yanked this spot which featured a puppy who had fallen off truck. he manages to find his way home only to find out he had been sold. helen of northeast pennsylvania found out about the ad and started an online campaign to get rid of it. she said she just felt compelled to act. >> my first reaction was sad. and then i was really angry and and that i knew i had to do something. i did not expect them to pull the ad. i was really hospital full but i

was realistic. so this whole thing is completely mind blowing. >> she and her sister-in-law volunteered to transport dogs from puppy mills to safe homes. on the health watch there's new evidence of a link between common household chemicals found in cosmetics and plastics and the early onset of menopause. research fine the effects on women's hormones could accelerate menopause by up to four years and that could put women at risk for a range of health problem. the researchers tested more than 100 chemicals and identified 15 of them as associated with early onset menopause. for more information on this, you can go to cbsphilly.com. we have new information tonight about the number of concussions in the nfl. the league said today the rate of concussions among players fell 25% this season. there were 111 concussions in games during the 2014 regular season and that's down from 148 in 2013 and 173 in 2012.

of weapons and elaborate staging make its wrestlers susceptible to injuries including brain damage. >> attorney harris, says the wwe scripped moves like slamming metal chairs into heads and holding matches in steals cages wwe knew or should have known of the risks and done something to prevent injuries. >> the nfl if you have concussion they make you sit out. if you have too many you can get back in the game and that should be happening -- you can't -- somebody has got to say stop! you know. somebody has to say stop instead of keep enticing them to get back in. >> this is brain damage. concussions can be devastating. this doctor is the director of pennsylvania brain injury. >> traumatic brain injury is the strong environmental rec factors for developing alzheimer's disease. >> evan depends on his mom to drive and help with bills.

>> i'm upset and i'm sad for him. never dreamed that you're going to have brain injury and that it's going to have a negative impact on you for the rest of your life. >> he has brain damage from being dropped on his head in one of his first matches. >> i'm terrified. >> of what? >> the future. i don't know what's going to happen. >> what am i going to do with the rest of my life. >> i'm scare. >> jerry mcdevitt represents the wwe which he says did not conceal medical information. he says the simulated combat never called for real injuries in the ring. >> it's in the best interest of the company to take care of its talent because if the talent aren't healthy they can't perform or they can't perform the company can't put a show on. >> reporter: he also says the wwe took action as soon as doctors better understood the potential dangers of concussions concussions. >> the company has taken a look at some of the moves and maneuvers. >> which ones of those can be eliminateed we've brought in some of the best sports medicine

more snow showers possible overnight tonight. if we zoom in i can show you exactly where we're seeing the snow through upper darby prospect park, along 95, and also along 295 some patchy snow showers through gloucester city and south jersey. so please just be aware of that. elsewhere we're just talking about some cold temperatures. so we will have slick spots. 33 in philadelphia. 21 in the poconos with light snow. 29 degrees as you move toward reading. state college 26. so we will be seeing temperatures falling below freezing early tomorrow morning perhaps few light snow showers. otherwise we'll be seeing the sun coming out that clipper really moving through new england and temperatures in the 30s. the big impact will be saturday with the cold and the wind. our clipper moves away. high pressure builds in we create a pressure ingredient and that means strong northwesterly winds. saturday morning waking up to frigid temperatures. wind chills below zero especially in the poke notice. we have wind chill advisory saturday morning. 15 to 20 below there.

for the rest of us saturday morning lehigh valley five to 15 below. even in the city and the suburbs five below to around zero and southern delaware and coastal new jersey only in the single digits with the wind chill. then watching this area of low pressure move toward us and some of our computer models coming in right now are suggesting a little bit of a northward track mixing some rain through south roars see and delaware. we'll have to continue to watch that but on this track at left a moderate snow cumulation in philadelphia. and we look at the probability of how much snow right now we're leaning toward a 60% chance of a mold rat accumulation which would be around three to 6-inches. right now heavy 20%. we'll see if we'll have to change that either way light or heavy over the next 24 to 48 hours as the storm really evolves. overnight some snow mixing with sleet and rain especially through south jersey and delaware. coating possible in most locations. the low temperature around 30 during the day tomorrow 36. it becomes blustery and on the exclusive "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast we will see really the cold bitter blast
