from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". right now at 11:00 o'clock another frigid night all across the region. it's cold out there. but it's also the calm before the storm. storm scan3 shows the large system here covering a big portion of the midwest right now. and that is heading our way. and it's also expected to bring us a mixture snow, sleet and rain. good evening everyone. i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us tonight. it appears february will be starting out stormy. let's get right to meteorologist justin drabick. he's tracking the timing of this storm also the areas that could be seeing the most snow. justin. >> good evening, natasha. that's right. all is quite right now but we have arctic air mass in place much this storm will be able to strengthen enough to try to bring in mild air but i still think this cold air will be stubborn. many areas north of the city

sunday night into monday morning will see the potential for freezing rain. that will keep things tricky for the monday morning commute. clouds from the storm still to the west start to move into the region during the day tomorrow. but most of sunday stays dry. current air temperatures 22 at the airport in philadelphia and wilmington. 16 in allentown. not quiet as cold as it was last night. but still very chilly for this time of year. teens in the suburbs. quakertown willow grove at 19 degrees this hour. 17 both in pottstown and in doylestown as well. here we go. winter storm watches and warnings. will go in effect tomorrow night 7:00 o'clock. western chester, northern montgomery into bucks that's a winter storm watch. winter storm warnings for the areas in pink. berks county lehigh valley threw the poconos. northern suburbs best shot to see the wintry mix and most know will be up into the mountains. let's break it down for you. during the day sunday pretty much just dry. clouds on the increase temperatures actually above freezing in many spots. could see snow arriving late in

from neighbors. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is in mt. holly with the latest. >> reporter: cops rush the house just before 9:00 a.m. neighbors said 911 call leading them to discovery of two bodies inside the home. >> shocked was the word. i'm like what's going on? because you don't expect things like that in that neighborhood. >> it's a very quiet neighbor. kids out playing and they come running cops everywhere. so, you know, we all come to is he what's going on. >> reporter: neighbors watched as police conducted their investigation. the bodies brought out of the home in mid afternoon. this woman's daughter lives in the same duplex as the victims. her daughter describe watching police take two people out of the home after the bodies were found. one a woman led to a patrol car. the other -- >> they brought the young man out, um, he had on boxers shorts and he was full of blood. and that was it. they put him in the ambulance with handcuffs. >> reporter: mt. holly police and burlington county prosecutor's office would not comment on the case. unwilling to clarify whether the

investigation was being treated as a hmm side. neighbors seemed convinced that it was. >> it's surprising. very much so. very disturbing, too. >> reporter: the one thing police have told us so far is that they do not believe anyone in this area has anything to fear which means in all likelihood that they do not have a suspect on the loose. we're in mt. holly matt rivers cbs3 "eyewitness news". tonight officials in georgia are not releaseing many details on the condition of bobby chris tone in a brown. the daughter of late singer whitney houston was found unresponsive face down in bathtub and taken to an atlanta area hospital today. she was discovered by her husband in their georgia home. police say the brown was given c cpr until rescuers arrived. >> we don't know if this was a medical condition where she had problem in the tub or if it was any type of self initiated or overdose type of situation.

>> whitney houston died nearly three years ago. she was found unresponsive in a bathtub on the eve of the grammys in los angeles. also now philadelphia police are investigating the sudden death of a dui suspect who died while in police custody. officers arrested the 29-year-old about 4:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon and brought him to police headquarters. investigators say he was found unconscious in his cell at 10:15 last night. the suss spec's cause of death is currently under investigation investigation. and new tonight, friends and family are mourning the loss bensalem police officer. detective kevin cornish collapsed during a 5k in northeast philadelphia this morning. officers did cpr on him until emergency crews rushed him to aria torresdale hospital. he did not survive. islamic state militants meantime they have now released another video claiming they killed a moss statue this time the victim was japanese journalist kenji goto. the man diplomats have been

arctic air. we're talking about snow and ice in the forecast later tomorrow night. nothing tonight. nice and quiet outside with clear skies life look at the ben franklin bridge. just cold if you are heading out through the overnight hours travel conditions look good. just dress warm. there are the current win speeds sustained out of the west coming in about oh, 10 miles per hour or less. so much better than what we were the past 24 hours. but still those wind chill values are down into the lower teens in many locations. clear skies over us root now for the time being. that will quickly change tomorrow morning as clouds will spread in from west to east lower and thicken through the day but the precipitation stays to our west for now. looks like most of sunday stays dry. it's later on during the evening we'll start to see the moisture build in. as far as the storm goes for sunday late night into monday, mainly snow up into the poconos. that's where we see the most snow from the storm system. you get into the lehigh valley, berks county down through the city, a mixture of snow, ice and then rain and once again mainly south jersey into delaware mainly rain from this event as

the storm will be strong enough to try to bring in some of that warmer air. but still arctic air is pretty stubborn it will hang around. areas of freezing rain to deal with. during the day sunday just dry with more clouds. move into about 11:00 o'clock at night to midnight snow spreads from west to east. there could be periods of heavy snow initially as the storm moves inform the front end of the storm best shot to see a come lating snow. 2:00 a.m. rain/snow line shifts northward. the area in pink indicates that freezing rain and then plain rain for philadelphia by monday morning. and again the question is how far north does that rain get. i still think areas of chester and northern bucks, montgomery county stay freezing rain for a prolonged time. so there could be some decent amount of icing on the roads early monday morning. by the afternoon improving conditions that is a moisture moves out. so how much snow we talking about? initially at the start of the storm general al coating to an inch or so around philadelphia. and then the amounts go up the farther north you go into northern bucks montgomery, chester county about three to

six up through allentown and and that you get in the mountains that's where we see the most snow of six to 10-inches. of course we have to monitor the ice situation with freezing rain. how long does the cold air last? areas here shaded in blue and pink that's the area could see the most ice from this even. possibly a teppth of an inch maybe even more than that indicated by this model up into the lehigh valley northern suburbs through the lehigh valley best shot to see freezing rain overnight tomorrow night into monday morning. it is clear overnight here. less windy 22 degrees for center too for the low. little bit colder in the suburb increasing clouds through the day on sunday. snow arrives late at night. 35 degrees. for the afternoon high. we're trying to many what the up a little bit. but still below average for this time of year. monday it's groundhog day and we have a storm to deal with. look at fill's past predictions. 118 of them. 101 of them he saw his shadow six mr. weeks of winter. we'll have to so what happens on monday. most likely he'll see his shadow with the storm around and then sunday 35 degrees for a it whom monday kind of the same deal.
