7:01 am
of divides our area as well, areas to the north are more likely to be finding the wintery component on there is and the rest every us could be dealing with through the philadelphia area points south, with some rain, but you also could be finding some that far wintery stuff going on as well. >> i look at the surface observations way out in harrisburg lancaster none that far is hitting the grounds, air mass is very dry it, will take through the day to get the air mass ready for this snow, to fall it, will start as little light snow, then we can be finding these transitions over the snow, sleet, and rain, and freezing rain, than sort of thing. that's why pay very close attention to the temperature in your area. because you could be finding rain coming down, and it can be freezing on surfaces, as we go through the overnight time period. but, during the daylight hours, i think you're finding it out do anything you want. twenty-seven in philadelphia, 25 trenton, 23 in wilmington right now milder than yesterday, temperatures will be getting above freezing,
7:02 am
35 degrees, we could be picking up few other degrees as well, could be up to 38 degrees today. which would be nice. as we move through this evening, by 5:00 o'clock tonight this computer model says through allentown reading and the poconos maybe start with little snow. rest of the area by 10:00 o'clock tonight clouds through philadelphia, and off to the west, this gets little bit closer, we've got almost a wrap around to the top with some snow through new york city. but by the time we hit say midnight that's when some of this moves in, these temperatures will be dropping overnight, so just be careful can be raining until it hits the surface, and then it can be freezing, so chance of some freezing rain is not out of the question. we will watch and the un impressive, the casino of precipitation we're get that can make it little trickier. time it all out. talk about all of it, get out safely coming up. nicole. >> thanks, carol. just reminder cbs-3 "eyewitness news" will be on extra early tomorrow morning

7:14 am
second but first check out this live look at chicago right now. you can see snow is falling there. making for some tough driving conditions. this is part of the system, that's headed our way later today. and carol has lots more on the details of that storm system. carol, good morning. >> good morning similar view to what i see in the mobile weather lab. >> yes, did look like that. >> we're not going to be looking at that much snow. but we will be finding wintery precipitation, and it is also going to be maybe helped along by temperatures that will be right at that freezing mark, and just below overnight. starts out gorgeous, red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. oh wait a minute. ya, we do have little bit of red sky out there. so sailors and other are watching this forecast today. but it is a beautiful start to the day, and it is a lot more comfortable than it was yesterday when we had sub-zero windchills. today, temperature of 27 degrees, right now and we will be adding maybe as much as 10 degrees to this today. twenty-five trenton 23 degrees in wilmington area right now. you can see on storm scan3
7:15 am
this is the big view, and storm system through chicago and moving on over, so, two sides to this. the northern side and the southern side. we will be getting some rain around here, we just is have to make sure grounds temperatures are above the freezing mark when the rain comes n otherwise you ends up with freezing rain, regular rain freezes on contact. so that's going to be the tricky area right through that i-95 corridor. and it is one of the reasons that we're going to be watching for a went winter storm advisory. we do see that through the areas to the north, winter storm advisory three to 6 inches every snow possible through there through other sections, where it is in purple, you could be finding just that winter weather advisory. but it is enough that if you see temperatures below the freezing mark, and precipitation comes in that we can be finding tough time on the roads. now, how does this storm breakdown? generally, we are looking at mainly rain, as go well to the south of philadelphia. snow ice rain, through the philadelphia area, is very possible, and mainly snow to the north of philadelphia.
7:16 am
so depending on where you are you will be finding variety of different kinds of weather conditions. coating to an inch philadelphia, maybe right just to our a gist end suburbs then going to the northern suburbs of philadelphia, one to 3 inches of snow, and maybe some sleet mix in the, there as well, and possibility of some freezing rain you get to allentown, reading, three to 6 inches, and if you don't get a lot of sleet and freezing rain tamp down the amount, could be seeing six to 10 inches through the poconos. so, the farther north go, the more snow you see the more wintery it is, temperatures colder there. we will be finding some rain. we'll time it all out as well. ice, where do you sea ice? well this computer model says mostly to the north and the west of philadelphia, be careful through philadelphia tonight though because we could be finding temperatures at 30 degrees with wet weather moving in and that is the recipe for problem, and i'm sure the road crews are out working hard on this one. all of the computer models says basically nothing in terms of snow coming up for
7:17 am
us. let's put this into motion, and we start with some snow at 5:00 o'clock today. then by the time we hit 10:00 o'clock we start to see maybe mix coming in, and bee watch that through the midnight hour, we see some rain, trying to come in here, is it freezing rain, not entirely sure. so be careful. it could be regular rain, but grounds temperatures could be below freezing or at freezing, and that's when it could stick. so be extremely careful as go out tonight as we watch this wrapping up as rain tomorrow morning, and then transition maybe to couple of snow showers, later on in the afternoon tomorrow. temperature of 35 degrees, today, with an afternoon snow shower to start. >> this but by tonight, we see the snow, the freezing rain, and the sleet coming on in here with a temperature of 30 degrees. so depending on where you are, your road conditions, and your walking conditions, will be different. just expect, expect it is going to be slippery out there, just take it easy, and of course bring those pets n then as we look at this system, as we go through the day tomorrow, it might ends with a kim of snow showers look at the temperature
7:18 am

7:23 am
may ends up doing things like allergy testing which trudy has had done. >> does allergy testing really pinpoint, and what if it showing it something like grass, and you can't avoid that. >> so the goal, avoidance is right, very difficult, goal of allergy test to go try to custom formulate an allergy immuno therapy set which means either allergy shots or sub link all therapy drops under the tongue, to train the immune system to ignore those allergens. >> successful? sounds like laborious and costly. is it? >> it can be although, managing things like recurrent skin and ear infections and itch can also be costly both to quality of life as well as visits to the vet. >> totally agree. so you can, if you are dill rent, get the proper care, you can find what your dog is allergic to, to stop, or just cut down on the itching? >> yes yes allergy shots drops, don't work for every dog, certainly they do work for many many dogs.
7:24 am

7:25 am
recurrent, we need to get to the underlying cause such as underlying al err. >> i then food is often a really big one is there a number one food that somebody should just put their pet on just generically if it has allergies? >> did to depend what the pet has ether before. so we may recommend things like prescription or rye strict dollars diets for that diagnostic periods time. >> may have to spends to up two months on restricted die. >> the absolutely, yes. >> depending on what your dog is allergic to. pet can be a problem for the pet and the owner. dermatologist from pen vet thank you so much for trying to get this scratch on itch. we'll go back to the news desk. >> well, hey speaking of dogs, this is one dog gone popular photo. check it out. astronaut's official massive has gone viral. he said he snuck his dogs into the photo studio to get some shots of them together. looks like they're having great time.
