winter storm warning in effect in the areas you see shaded in the pink, and that's reading, allentown, points north, for up to three to 6 inches of snow, with some ice in there and winter weather advisory for philadelphia, snow here, but it is mainly you're going to be watching for the chance every getting some sleet or freezing rain, and just know that there could be icing in any location. future weather by 6:00 tonight, we start to see some snow moving into the area. and by the time we hit 11:00 we're starting to see some of the mix. thinking about coming in from the west, right through philadelphia we'll finish the time line, talk more about it, coming up, nicole? >> carol, thank you. we have some breaking news to share with you in philadelphia's lawncrest neighborhood. a woman is dead after crashing her car on roosevelt boulevard. this all happened just before 5:00 a.m. near adams avenue. only one vehicle was involved in that crash. the cause of the accident is under investigation. more breaking news, in mercer county, new jersey, firefighters bat al strip mall fire in ewing township. flames broke out after 4:00 this morning, race too

8:15 am
>> that's right. >> thanks so much. >> don't tell anybody. >> all right, it is 8: 14. 8:15 right now. let's sends it over to carol for more on the forecast, good morning. >> good morning to you nicole high, everybody. it is warmer than it was yesterday. how about that for a little gift? in fact, whether you factor in how cold it was yesterday with the windchill we are 29 degrees warmer than it was yesterday. because we had minus two yesterday morning. so doing the number line, we come 129 degrees difference. twenty-seven in philadelphia, 26 trenton 24 degrees in wilmington, it is 20 in the poconos, 25 down in wildwood. slightly warmer, isn't it? but, unfortunately, we have the weather falling apart in other regards. now, none of this is actually hitting the grounds. it will be, however, but the air mass is extremely dry. we have a storm system, on it way here, and that's going to be triggering some wintery-type weather in a variety of wintery forms as we go through the next day. and depending on where you are, from south to north, it
8:16 am
is more like winter to the north, than it will be to the south. at least in terms of the kind of precipitation that we're going to be findingment winter weather advisory through philadelphia start at 7:00 tonight until 7:00 tomorrow morning. that will be the particular time when you want to pay attention to these roads because we could be picking up some ice around here, not a lot. doesn't take a lot. though. you head up to the allentown and reading areas that's where the winter storm advisory is in effect, tricky travel there maybe three-6 inches of snow, possibility there but some sleet, maybe freezing rain, as well. coating to an inch, through the philadelphia area. that's the amount. one to 3 inches of snow and sleet as go just to the north and west, starting later tonight, and the first part of the day tomorrow. three to 6 inches through allentown and possibly about double that as you go through the allentown, or rather, through the poconos and areas to the north of that. again, even through the poconos, we could be finding some sleet and freezing rain mixed in. the computer model says that we could be picking up maybe even .10 of an inch of ice
8:17 am
through lancaster but some ice to the north and west of philadelphia, do not rule it out through philadelphia, and don't even rule it out through south jersey. know that the rain can fall on ground surfaces that are at or below the freezing mark, you will think it is rain, but the rain will know it is frozen by the time it hits the grounds and you'll be sliding be careful, we have seen disasters this winter, as a result of freezing rain, as you can at any time. snow amounts completely unimpressive. the highest computer model says at 1.2 inches through philadelphia. some of the others say none, to far far less than that. so that's not the issue. not the snow. it is the type of precipitation. and the timing after everybody is heading on home after superbowl party possibly. clouds out there for today by 6:00 computer model believes that there will be some snow actually hitting the grounds through 11:00 tonight we've got it through allentown reading, "eyewitness news" is on at this point so we will be continuing to update it at that point. we are looking right now at
8:18 am
some mix at 11:00 tonight some rain possible to the south, but remember the rain can be falling in areas where the grounds temperatures are at or below the freezing mark. we do get some rain around here. hopefully the grounds temperatures warm up, right along with the air temperatures, and that should be lead to go some rain, as we start the day possibility of sleet, freezing rain, through the poconos and then we get some rain, as this thing pulls on out of here. we start to clear out. and then we are going to be left with just some cold weather by monday night as those temperatures drop. today 35 degrees, clouds, with maybe an afternoon snow shower starting, but more likely as we move later on in the day. but just keep an eye out maybe earlier than that. thirty tonight snow, freezing rain and sleet depending on where you are careful on the roads, that's the watch word, and bring those pets inside. it will be a wet cold miserable night out there. and tomorrow, as well, 38 degrees temperatures drop, we end up with maybe brief snow shower at the end of this thing, but we could be finding slick conditions traveling.
8:19 am
22 degrees on tuesday, look how cold that is. we just about double that temperature wise on wednesday maybe thursday, again, we pick up a chance of a snow shower. you know this is the kind of wealth her you want to eat donuts, don't you? well, now some philadelphia students have come up with a very creative solution for all of the grease that is left over from frying donuts. i went to the philadelphia auto show, the auto show, to learn more. >> the versatile donut not just for breakfast any more, friday fry up, fill her up, the used cooking oil bin at the workshop school. that's a philadelphia public high school for kids with no fear of gears in fact, so unafraid of being automotive innovative, right in this room, that they built a car, that runs on old recycled veg table oil from federal donuts. now, donuts, we understand, next sentence, maybe not so much. >> it is not like a gas engine where it has spark plugs in it, fuel inject tifs. >> yes, of course, biodiesel
8:20 am
donut fuel injections from the fuel made right in this school. >> is the car more prone to want to do donuts in the parking lot? >> yes. >> and the first show off move for the students' car right at the philadelphia auto show. home to expensive cars, big checkbooks, and right there with them, the workshop school's biodiesel beauty. let's take a ride, or at least start it up with the school principal. >> i smell donuts. >> one of the benefits of using fed ram donuts oil. >> actually the car is very clean, no odor, zero emissions, but not a bently. >> stack this car up against the bently. >> well, student built this. it runs on federal donuts oil. and it gets 98 miles a gallon. i don't think a bently can claim that. >> almost 100 miles to the gallon from student built car? nicks team you eat a donut remember to count miles along with calories. >> you know, that's a great school. they were given a problem what do you do with all of this oil and they came one
8:21 am
that biodiesel engine for that car. they got it into the car show. so if you are headed to the philadelphia auto show, go by and see the workshop school car. they did a great job. >> i'm trying to think what i came one in high school? >> heating donut? >> that's about all i did carol, thank you. 8:21, we check on the roads with ann evans. >> good morning, carol. look telling blue route at the mid-county toils, weaver no delays on the blue route this morning, in fact, the area roadways, are in fine shape. no major accidents to tell but, or construction. and that is the latest from the cbs-3 traffic centerment i'm ann evans now, back to you, nicole. >> all right ann, thank thank you. talking about this storm all morning long. we do wands to -- want to reminds you following the storm coastally, morning team will start extra early for you at 4:00 a.m. to bring you the very latest on conditions across our region many we'll take a short break and be right
