was driving this car police say that monday afternoon shortly before 5:00, he was driving south on sproles road near sunnyhill lane in villanova a the it is when this tree suddenly unrouted, landing directly on top of his car. mothersill in route to pick up one of his two children died at the hospital. >> gentlemen was just driving home, and the the tree comes down on the road without warning, you know and essentially it cost him his life. >> reporter: lieutenant andy block says the weather was a factor. >> contributing factor here was the win. we were experiencing wind in the area of 20 to 25 miles an hour with gusts up to 40. >> car crossed over median striking an on coming vehicle in, one else was hurt. most of the tree ended up in risers yard, destroying his fence and scarring his three small children. >> very are sobering experience to say the least, you know, you think about what if, what could have happened, and then when we learn the the outcome of the car accident last night, to think about the the person's family and what

the good news is the the days are getting longer and sunnies still out, that is a a plus. temperatures will be taking a break from that biting cold tomorrow but then, two chances of snow, will be moving our way. take a look at the numbers. morning low in philadelphia down to 20, right now it feels like 20 with the wind and allentown it feels like 12, and poconos it feels like four and reading it feels like 19, the with the wind. we are going to be seeing conditions slowly improving over the next 24 hours. on storm scan three you can see some snow that is associated with that weak system that is through chicago, moving through the midwest, the the good news is this is going to be staying to our north, so that the poconos could see a dusting and northern and lehigh valley. rest of us will be staying dry tomorrow. our weather will be all about the wind over the next 24 hours, lot the wind they lighten up tonight by 11:00 p.m. and they turn southerly. that will warm us many tomorrow morning out of the

south, millville at 16. 21 miles an hour sustain wind in wildwood. during the day tomorrow that southeasterly wind will make it feel very good as temperatures break the the 40-degree mark. look at what happens on thursday northwesterly wind return and it will get cold again, so we will get one day of a break and that wrapped warm up comes tomorrow and then thursday's clipper brings light snow and then all eyes are on the weekend for another potential storm, to bring the chance of snow, you may need to shovel, more on that coming up later in the broadcast when kate and i join you inside. >> all right kathy thanks very much. is there developing news tonight, jordan is vowing revenge after confirming the execution of the jordanian military pilot captured by the terror group isis. that video was posted by isis showing that pilot being burned alive, inside of a cage. the pilot was captured in december after his plane crashed, during a u.s. led bombing run against isis target in syria.

kindergarten vaccination rate which ranks in the bottom five in the nation. some feel vaccine is dangerous. >> there is no association that has been demonstrated, in the medical literature in the large studies that shows an association, certainly between autism a and any vaccines. that has been largely discounted. >> reporter: doctor steve own aronoff a chair of pediatrics at temple says mmr vaccine has been proven to be safe and effective. he said politicians like new jersey governor christie has caused unfortunate confusion by first saying parents should have a choice which was filled by a clarification from his office saying children should be vaccinated. >> i usually don't go to politicians for my medical advice. >> national average of children in kindergarten who have received the mmr vaccine is just under 95 percent. that is rate in new jersey, delaware's number is up at 96 percent. experts say part of the reason that pennsylvania's number is so much lower is the large

amish population which generally does not the belief in vaccinations. one example lancaster county which has a big amish population only 77 percent vaccination rates there. they are at risk for this measles out break. >> certainly some eye opening numbers there, stephanie, thanks very much. >> thank you. well, philadelphia police meantime are looking for a gunman who critically injured a man in southwest philadelphia. the the 22-year old victim was shot near 65th and pascal last night. authorities say victim drove himself to the police station for help and an officer drove him to the hospital and that is where he remains in critical condition. in montgomery county tonight authorities are releasing surveillance video hoping to find a suspect in the bomb threat. police are hoping someone recognized this man they say that he used a pay phone to call in a a bomb threat to the courthouse in norristown last week. the courthouse had to be evacuated but in the end no explosives were found. well, an alert for parents tonight in berks county but

authorities released this composite sketch of the man that they say attempted to lure children in the area. authorities say suspect is link to three attempted lurings in reading, burne township and wyomissing if you recognize that mandy pick in that sketch you are asked to call the the authorities. well mandatory paid sick levies now one step closer to becoming the law in philadelphia. today a city council gave unanimous a approval to the plan. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live at city hall with all of the details todd. >> reporter: natasha, under this bill most people work here in the city will no longer to have tea side between calling in sick and getting paid but not everyone is thrilled bit. when an employee is sick he or she should be a able to stay home and still get paid. that is the idea behind bill greenly's bill. >> all they have to does provide five paydays for work tore take care of their health or the the health of their family. i don't think that is too much to ask for any business.

across the delaware and it is a very pretty end to the day in philadelphia down the shore, this is my favorite, we get some of the most beautiful sunsets in the wintertime with those career skies, and atlantic city looking great this evening. on storm scan three it is clear for now but not for long. the cloud will be moving in from the west and we can see them already through erie and through pittsburgh and some snow in chicago. that will ride to our north but in the poconos you will see light snow, during the early morning hours. the right now in the city we are looking at a temperature or 29 degrees. not so bad. poconos at 18. wind coming from the south. those temperatures, in the middle part of the country through mid-atlantic down to the south in the 40's, those will be rising our way and by tomorrow we will be very close. that is what we are seeing today in raleigh-durham. future weather shows clouds rolling in during overnight the hours. you can see snow showers at 6:00 a.m. to the northern part of the lehigh valley and

poconos coat to go an inch in the mountains. it is gone by 9:00 a.m. we will see skies clearing out nicely with southerly wind and we will warm up quickly. so high pressure will be our friend tomorrow with that sunshine and temperatures in the 40's, then we will watch another clipper, we will keep saying this is winter of the clipper they are relentless but doesn't bring a lot of moisture, light snow shower, thursday morning and then we will watch this secondary low develop, but the the good news is, this development is too late for us, it swings well off the coast of nova scotia and we will just feel the chill by friday. very cold air reenforced behind it. it will be mostly sunny on friday with high temperatures only in the 20's. so lets talk about that clipper. the thursday morning, very light snow. the these are all of our computer models that we are looking at. you can see gfs saying a tenth here, .8 on a european model. coat to go an inch thursday morning at best with this next clipper. not a lot of moisture there overnight the low temperature 23 degrees clouds, will be building temperatures slowly

in 2010, we had monster storms, first major storm dumped over 2 feet on february 5th and 6th, ridley park delaware county pick up 30 inches of snow in just a few days late are we got hit again, another 15.8 inches felon february 5th and, 9th and 10th. so there we go two big storms in just one week. you may not ever see that happen again and again people had to cross country ski around the city as well. it wasn't just that year. check out these stats. other big storms we had in month of february. 2010 storm that was 18.5 inches. 1983 february 11th and 12th 21-point 367-89-2003 february 16th and 17th, 18.7. february 9th and 10, 15.8 but notice those dates. first half of the month. it is the next two weeks. average out 8.8 inches of snow in february. last year, we had two 2.4 in february. and most snowy february ever,

"eyewitness news" at 6:00 starts right now. we now know the man who was killed in a freak accident yesterday, it is a tree that crashed down on his car heading to pick up a child from school. good evening i'm chris may. i'm natasha brown guess case off. driver had no time at all to react, strong wind were blowing when the the tree felon sproles road in radnor. "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson talked with an eyewitness who watched as fire fighters tried to save the man's life. >> there was a loud crash, you know people say a train, you know, train crash. >> reporter: when this tree came crashing into david riser's yard he thought the worst was over. >> it was a pretty grizzly scene. >> reporter: until he saw that was under it. >> the car was on fire and they were working on the car.
