but it's much different as you work your way to the north and west. chuck is saying in perkasie the temperature 32 degrees. that's just about it right now it's cloudy but we are seeing some changes in the weather and one of the changes that we are seeing are conditions that are getting rapidly more moist. you can see right here on storm scan3. precipitation moving in from the west and as you move toward the north, we are seeing some icing in the poconos and that will work its way south over the next couple of hours with colder temperatures. take a look right now. this is what we expect overnight. the showers will be arriving freezing rain changing over to snow north and west. there are some icing concerns there. a coating to an inch of snow in our suburbs. toward the lehigh valley up to a tenth of an inch of ice and icy commute especially in our suburbs you can see that precipitation tapers monday evening. so our advisories go until tuesday morning. even in philadelphia could be seeing the precipitation ending as an icy mix. ice and snow in the poconos. rain changing to freezing rain

and snow even in philadelphia could end as a little wet snow. and mainly rain through south jersey and delaware. we're talking about a big change that will be coming after this. in the wake of our storm system, we'll be seeing some colder air slowly work its way in for tuesday and for wednesday. after that, we will watch an area of low pressure really send temperatures crashing. you can see a huge dip in the jet stream late thursday with another shot of arctic air moving our way. but this doesn't necessarily mean a big snow this winter. in fact one of the things we look at nao and they say no to big snow. here's justin with more and that that. thanks a lot kathy. to get a good snowstorm here in philadelphia, a lot of ingredients have to come together, and we just haven't seen that so far this winter. one of the factors we look at is the north atlantic oscillation which is currently in its positive phase and it's been like this all winter long basically it's just an air pressure pattern in the atmosphere typically you have an air of hoe pressure off the east

coast, low pressure over the grade lakes. with the high pressure in this area, it doesn't act as a blocking high pressure. it doesn't lock in the cold air. it doesn't slow storm systems down everything is fast moving and very progressive you have your storms which are basically tracking in from the west they're faster weaker less moisture and the cold air is farther to the north. that's why new england has been getting hit hard with these snowstorms over the past few week. so so far this winter in the positive nao phase we've been dealing with no blocking high pressure systems. so fast moving systems the lack of cold air just doesn't last long here in the middle atlantic quickly moves out every time a storm system comes in, and certainly we've been seeing storms develop late off the coast so they miss up and impact new england and the forecast for the inform ao it looks like it stays positive through the rest of february. meaning a less chance for big storm. but it will get cold and for more on that forecast we'll zen it back to kathy. >> thank you very much, justin. overnight, foggy once the showers move in the fog will dissipate. the low testimony cher 36 in the
