chopper three the inner northbound lanes near red lion road, they are still closed tonight. here is what it looked like earlier this morning water bubbling up, covering much of the boulevard, and making it simply impassable. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones joins us live from the scene in the northeast with the very latest todd? >> reporter: and chris just recently some of the inner lanes on this section of the boulevard were reopened, and that is easing ride home for awful lot of drivers. take a look at this picture here. this is what we're looking at a 16-inch transmission line that broke opened at 6:30 this morning and shut down this entire section of the boulevard. it tied up traffic the water service was the not impact. certainly though as day progressed here some of the outer lanes of the boulevard between grant and red lion did reopen, but replacing the the pipe will take a few more hours, meaning that right now the northbound inner lanes of this section of the boulevard

again, between grant and red lion will remain closed throughout the the rush hour this evening. now, late this afternoon two of the three inner southbound lanes, again of this section of the boulevard were reopened meaning right now, five of the six southbound lanes of the boulevard are opened. that is certainly eased congestion issues on this section of the boulevard. as you take a look behind me you can see traffic gets by with no problems. reporting live tonight from northeast philadelphia, todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right todd thank you. tonight we are hearing from the grieving family of the burlington county man kill in the deadly crash on the new jersey turnpike. authority say that 40 vehicles were involved in multiple pile up nears 8a in cranberry township middlesex county last night. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan spoke to the victim's stepson in bordentown. >> we're just trying to get through this. it is are sudden that it happened. >> reporter: aaron brown lost his stepfather darryl williams during a chain reaction crash

on the new jersey turnpike involving 40 vehicles. state police say that conditions were icy and two tractor trailers lost control around mile marker number 71 trying to break for an accident. that caused several more pile ups resulting in 68 people hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. williams was the only fatality, trapped in his car and pronounced dead at the scene. >> darryl was my mom's best friend and they loved each other dearly. it is really heavy right the now. >> reporter: williams death comes days after one of his pros proud moment. he was a star athlete on the football, wrestling and baseball teams. on saturday he was induct in the bordentown regional athletic hall of fame. >> he was the the the man and he walk in, he was so happy he was genuinely proud to be part of the bordentown which is something i'll never forget. >> reporter: joe sprague says williams volunteered with the williamstown regional wrestling team and was a inspiration to the team. >> he had that attitude

personality, charisma, infectious around anybody who was with him. >> reporter: fatal crash is still under investigation and head of the new jersey turnpike authority has called for a review of operations leading up to the incident in bordentown i'm cleve bryan cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, after an icy start to the day, it did warm up a bit, "eyewitness news" on kelly drive as joggers venture out for a run but now our meteorologist are tracking snow showers for later in the week. meteorologist kathy orr is outside on the sky deck with that first forecast for you kathy. >> it is a great night to be outside, there is some wind but it is very comfortable. in fact that will not stick throughout the rest of this week. the right now we are dealing with temperatures in the 20's and 30's, and we will go down even further, some of the coldest a air of the season moving in by the end of the the weekend. lets take a look at the what we have here, temperatures on the cool side, philadelphia down to 37. thirty-three in allentown. only 25 in the poconos. average high being 43 for this

delaware. chopper three was over the the scene this morning on south du pont high waste and bear road. the 61 year-old catherine keys of dover died in this crash. her husband and three others are hospitalized tonight. and an investigation is underway have after a flight from philadelphia made an emergency landing in houston. american airlines flight 1825 operate by u.s. airways landed with its nose gear stuck in the up position last night. there were 52 passengers and four crew members on board that plane. everyone exited on the the plane on shoots but no one was injured. developing right now prosecutors are charge willing a pennsylvania state police corporal with reckless endangerment in connection with the death of the trooper during a firearms training accident. trooper david kedra was shot and killed at montgomery county public safety training campus in plymouth township back on september 30th. prosecutors alleged that corporal richard a schroder

pulled the trigger while discussing the trigger mechanism. that weapon discharge killing trooper kedra. prosecutors say schroder recklessly endangered those present by not following safety precautions. new at 6:00 a cold case that captivates the region ten years later. the mother of richard petrone junior is speaking out about the the disappearance of her son and his friend danielle imbo. as "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter tells us the family hopes a new fbi task force will find them. >> coming up on ten years. it is like it was yesterday first of all, and it doesn't get any easier that is for sure. >> reporter: holding tight to her husband's hand marge petrone, and richard, remember their son richard junior, who disappeared along with his friend danielle imbo ten years ago next week. >> what as taken from frustrates and from me, you know, my son

i could never really put in words what that has done to me. >> reporter: it was nearly in midnight on the evening of february 19th, 2005 when petrone, and imbo were last seen here on south street leaving a bar and restaurant. >> we talk every single will day, two or three times a day. next day i never saw him again. >> he said we're treating it for murder for hire and that is what i think it was. it was a murder for hire. >> reporter: fbi has previously revealed they believe petrone and imbo were abduct and murdered by contract killers as they were heading home to mount laurel but the killer's identity and motive remain a mystery. >> somebody has to pay for this. you just can't kill two people for no reason. >> we're hoping for a break essentially at this point. >> reporter: fbi agent jj clayver says a special task force working out of agency headquarters here is now assigned to the case.

>> we're hoping that this is the spark that we need. >> somebody has to pay for this. that is how i feel, you know, as long as my eyes are opened i will keep at it until somebody does. >> reporter: somewhere somehow, the the petrone's believe that after ten agonizing years the answers will be found. walt hunter for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well philadelphia police need your help as they look for a suspect held up a market in ogontz, on friday morning, the suspect, burst into the the nedro grocery store on west ned ro avenue. he held a female employee at gun point. he grabbed money from the cash register and took off, in the end, no one there was injured. >> taking a look at other surveillance video from the yummy diner on north fifth second street on january 21st 2 suspects robbed that diner. one of them had a gun and pointed it at employees. those suspects got away with cash. police are trying to find a suspect who stole a diamond ring from a kohl's store in an

dor a this happened last tuesday night. the suspect reportedly asked to look at the ring which is valued at $5,000 then took off. two rabid raccoons are confirmed in camden county. a dog killed a racoon in the backyard of the home in haddon township february 3rd, authorities say that doggies current with its rabies vaccinations and has received a booser from its veterinarian. two days earlier on february 1st a family dog killed a racoon in the yard of the camden city home. that dog was not up to date with its rabies vaccinations but has now received the the required shots. >> well, sixers unveiled their long awaited new blue fuzzy mascot the tonight. >> franklin, makes his debut after the the break, plus a little league controversy the team that knocked philadelphia's taney dragons out of the world series is under investigation kathy. >> we are looking at quiet weather, happening over the midwest and this is going to be moving our way so some light snow showers, but then

to raise money for uso programs in our area. it is a great night to be outdoors, no matter what you have going on because the temperatures are so comfortable. the sidewalk, for the most part are dry, all that ice has melted. that is good news. eyewitness weather watchers are showing temperatures around the region in the 30's which is a a nice change with high temperatures in the 40's today. right now williams is reporting a temperature of 37 degrees in levittown with a light win which is always nice earlier we had gusty wind a across the region. margot says in buena vista township in south injuries any win. temperature 34 degrees. pressure is rising. she says chilly but mild out, but chilly but mile, okay, i'll take it. no wind make for a nice evening. walk with just one layer. i like that advice. lets look at the pictures we have eaved today. lynn sent in this beautiful picture from cherry hill, new jersey with the sun getting lower in the sky.

a beautiful night every where with temperatures that are comfortable. take a look. we are looking at a a few cloud rolling through the region at jack frost big boulder. it is skiing night. look at everybody out there enjoying it with comfortable temperatures. they're in the the 20's but this is good skiing weather and good snow making weather. we have two chances for good snow heading toward the poconos at jack frost big boulder. storm scab three showing some cloud rolling through but nothing of consequence overnight, expecting a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. tomorrow will be a quiet weather day and then we will see the cold air continue to filter toward the the south. so for tomorrow you can see temperatures in the 30's. this one is freeze line at 32. so 32 or pea low to the north. you see milder temperatures to the south. tomorrow, will be in the 30's. we will watch low pressure clipper moved toward the region. freeze line dips to the south with arctic air that will be invading with this clipper. the thursday we will see light snow showers in the wake of this, much colder air for

friday, and even into the weekend. so with the clipper we are looking at light snow thursday afternoon and into the evening period, where we are seeing light blue, that is a coat to go an inch of snow, that is just about it with this system and in moisture starved. we will jump to friday which will be a cold day no big deal there. but then another system moving toward the region and providing some snow late saturday on valentines day, possibly early sunday with cold air in place. you can see the storm bombs up off shore. the best chance of getting heavy snow new england. we will watch for band being pulled back toward philadelphia area but we have a chance of more accumulating snow and that would be by saturday for valentines day. in the wake of this it is going to be very cold on sunday the forecast high only 19 degrees, and that will be coldest of the season and coldest day since last january 24th. overnight low temperature is 23 partly cloudy. during the day tomorrow mostly sunny a quiet day high temperature around 40.

southbound they have been intermittently blocking inner drive lanes as well. as of right now one lane gets by. so try to a a roid this area if you can and avoid usual rush hour delays at 95, schuylkill and vine you know what to expect. >> we do know, thanks very much. lesbian couple from south jersey, find itself in the middle of the custody battle with one of their sperm donors. >> as our pat ciarrocchi tells us this case may be something for at home artificial insemination. >> they felt the love having a family was their dream. they knew that they would need help. >> it takes an outside tore help us because we are a less bee on couple. we cannot the do it on our own. >> when these guys come to us and they are willing to help, it is owe exciting. yes, we will have our family. >> reporter: within four years each woman had given birth to a son. they thought documents sign by their two sperm donors relinquishing parental rights before the artificial

insemination would allow them to be their children's only parent. that change when both donor dad a interestly change their mind. >> it is not fair that we made these promises, sign contracts, and then be able to just change their mind. it is in the fair. >> we gave these men options. the options to say yes, i'll be your donor or no because i want a family. >> reporter: she and sheen a initiated legal action they lost both times in trial court because new jersey law on artificial insemination requires a physician's involvement the both boys were consumed by artificial means at home. now the two women are appealing. john keithing is their lawyer. >> you need to be careful. you need to seek legal counsel and do it whether you fall and the statute. it is safe tore make sure you have a physician to do it, so it is clear that the statute applies and you don't run risk ovenning up in this nightmare
