>> well, tonight, sadness in this neighborhood is palpable, we have confirmed from septa that the child who was killed was a little girl. witnesses tell thaws she just ran out in front of the trolley and the operator could not just stop in time. cries of anguish came from a woman on the sidewalk along lancaster avenue at 51st street. i two-year old girl had been struck by a septa trolley. she was a passenger. >> i don't know a two-year old ran in front of the trolley and got ran over. her body was between both the trolleys. wheels in the front. >> reporter: child was trapped underneath septa tells thaws she had been in the company of a female guardian. >> i don't know how, you got away from them. i don't know. her body was lifeless in between them two wheels. >> reporter: fire department and paramedics responded

dramatic police chase caught on cameras police chasing a male robbery suspect from chester and montgomery count business that driver weaving and out of traffic. today cbs-3 spoke with the driver who was forced to swerve head on into on coming traffic. >> all i saw was this truck coming out, of the suv. i saw it the my instinct took over and i just took the wheel. if i hadn't of swerved he would have hit me and i probably would have hit somebody dead on. >> driver who was running from police was a suspect in the robbery at a coventry mall and he eventually escaped. new information tonight, on the death of long time 60 minutes correspondent bob simon. investigators now say that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash in manhattan that took his life. we have also learned the driver of the lincoln town car that he was in has been convicted of two moving violations over the past year and was cleared of nine suspensions for previous
