d. the the got news is i think everyone knows is what coming and they are getting prepared. take a look at our wind chills. right the now they are low across the delaware valley. in philadelphia it only feels like it is around 11. in the poconos below zero. elsewhere to the north and west in the single numbers. we have a winter weather advisory and that is for snow. that advisory begins tomorrow afternoon, and continues to 7:00 a.m. sunday and for the the entire region. here's the future weather. you can see band of snow will be moving in tomorrow afternoon the hour around 1:00 o'clock. one ban moves through and that goes through early afternoon and here we go at 6:00 a ban moving through philadelphia and then another one poised to move through and these band will drop heavy snow, in a short period of time. this is what we expect, as far as the timing is concerned. between 1:00 and 4:00 o'clock band of snow squals it will be blustery with wind picking up behind this arctic front. between 3:00 and 7:00 another

live radar anytime, down load that app right now on google will play and i tunes. fire fighters battled frigid temperatures to put out a house fire along the jersey shore and as carol erickson found they were fighting fire with ice. >> reporter: friday the 13th first light revealed frozen one ice encapsulated and fire destroyed mansion next to an empty spot that had been a spacious mansion under construction. the late thursday night fire started there before spreading, the spotted by a patrolman blocks away. the three alarmer, taking it to the ground. fire fighters had to battle not just the flames, but their own the water supply in sub zero wind chills. >> making snow, there was ice immediately. it was that cold last night. all spray that came off of the hose lines froze before they hit the ground. >> reporter: on ice sealed fifth street over 100 cape may county fire fighters, many volunteer, kept their fooding

and hoses flowing long enough to contain the fire of unknown cause by 3:00 a.m. cracking through the morning after ice takes even longer this fire truck needs a torch and the water to break up a frozen stabilizer. >> we will get it back to the firehouse. >> reporter: in this pricey bay area have of multi million-dollar houses known as the fingers of avalon most are for summer use and unoccupied as fire ruin houses were but this woman who lived three doors away when the weather is good, came back fast to check out her flash frozen neighborhood. >> it is horrible to see this devastation. >> reporter: two total losses ice sculpture car avalon, cooler by the mile, more than living up to the slogan. in avalon, carol erickson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". in bensalem bucks county fire fighters battling fire, and ice, this particular fire broke out this morning the at a mobile home in the 400 block of wicker avenue in bensalem.

no reports of any injuries from there, and the cause of that fire is under investigation. and a driver loses control, flipping a car on its roof on the schuylkill expressway. chopper three over that scene, these are northbound lanes near the montgomery avenue exit earlier today. we are told a 19 year-old man was taken to the hospital, but no other vehicles were involved, the cause of that crash is also under investigation. chestnut street was shut down temporarily this morning when pieces of a marble sign came loose and crashed to the ground. the tonight officials say cold weather could to be blame. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live on the scene with new details walt. >> reporter: jessica workers and neighbors on this busy stretch of 15th and chestnut were shocked when they saw overnight huge chunks of marble had come crashing down on the sidewalk they normally use. fortunately because of the hour of that collapse, nobody was hurt. when they saw the chunks of marble that crashed down,

after breaking off a building from 15th and chestnut, those who used this busy stretch of sidewalk almost every day, were stunned. >> oh, wow. that is scary. that is very scare. >> reporter: fortunately when nearly a third of the old sign ripped away, tearing through an awning and shattering below it was midnight and fewer people were outside in the bitter cold. it is exact spot where neighbor dominic, walks her baby every day. >> it is kind of scary. that is a very old building. it the is very scary that that happened. could have killed somebody. >> reporter: this partial collapse is second on a busy center city street in less than three weeks. january 27th at this lulu lemon's store a block away bricks falling from an adjoining building crashed into the store, injuring three people. >> this is so sad they need to do something to these old buildings. >> reporter: l and i record showed this building whose

owners could not be reached for comment had never been cited for any violations as workers removed the heavy chunks of marble to be analyzed l and i officials say preliminarily it appears moisture got behind the stone and freezing forced it to peel away, the same cause as the previous collapse around the corner. >> it really is scary. the city has to do something about our infrastructure as things are falling apart. >> reporter: back live you can see that the 23rd of that sign remains above the sidewalk. l and i officials say they will be taking action in the near future to try to make sure that it is either shourd up, and secured, or totally removed. as of right now the sidewalk is blocked so no one is in danger beneath it. live at 15th and chestnut i'm walt hunter, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> a deadly shooting involving a pennsylvania state trooper is under investigation in berks county.

deadly confrontation happened early this morning on rare street in reading. authorities say that were there to serve arrest warrant for richard car-len and sharrie griffin both wanted in arizona during that raid a trooper opened fire killing carolyn. they awaited extradition to, air zone. just into "eyewitness news", medford police arrested two suspects wanted in the home inn racial and robbery. investigators say urie ridgeway and willie hyman, home invasion, and took off with his stolen car. police locate that had home in mount holly and arrested ridgeway on thursday. hyman was arrested today. they are charge with assault and robbery. well to day governor tom wolf suspended use of the death penalty in pennsylvania. he says he wants to review a full report on capital punishment in the state. governor called the currencies tell of capitol punishment, flawed. the the pennsylvania district attorney's association and the pennsylvania state troopers

if you can believe it, the boston area is bracing, for more snow. another blizzard threatens to dump a foot or more from areas still buried from the last storm. flooding is an issue in coastal area. keeping track of all this this will be four storms in three weeks for new england. much of the area running out of places to put the the snow that it has cleared from the roads. >> four storms there and all just monster storms too really big storms. if you have been outside today, you know the cold the wind everything combined is brutal and now we're gearing up for valentines day snow of

toned stay indoors. look what the mobile weather lab says. temperature is 23. the wind is making it feel so much colder. lets go outside to our live neighborhood network and it takes to us palmyra cove where we got a call from a friend of mine that works in the cove. guess what, we have ice forming on the delaware. if you look closely along the jersey side you can see ice forming along the shore and occasionally a few ice chunks rolling by. wind northwest there at 11 miles an hour there storm scan three it is cold but clear. we have clear skies. nothing in our area right now but as we pan a little will bit off to the north and west you can see great lakes some snow. that is our next clipper. with it an arctic front bringing polar air and that wind so strong it will turn dangerous, late inert weekend. here's what it feels like. eleven in philadelphia temperatures in the poconos we are at minus five in reading, it feels like it the is seven. we are going down big time.

as we look further to the the north and west, even colder in state college, it feels like five, and buffalo, seven below and that is tip of the iceberg. this is what will happen. late tonight we will see area of low pressure get closer from the great lakes this clipper will be swinging through tomorrow afternoon. on saturday you can see the snow a associated with it. behind that, the air is so cold, that those wind will be gusting to 50, even 60 miles an hour. in the wake of it. you can see on sunday those lines, lining up verticalcally over philadelphia. that means an intense wind arctic high pressure will be building in. so this is what we expect for saturday. when that arctic front swings through we will talk about one to 3 inches of snow, a sat the day, into the evening. wind gusting to 50. reduced visibility if you are going out for valentines day and look for icy spots. saturday night right through sunday afternoon we expect whipping wind, that could turn dangerous.

it is 55 degrees tonight in clearwater florida. it is not the the middle of summer there by any means but it beats. >> whatever this is. >> whatever you want to call this. >> phillies are heading south for spring training and "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer was there this morning as crews loaded up the truck. >> reporter: inside the phillies clubhouse, bins, bags and a hallway full of boxes as the team packs up and he helped south the for spring training. >> hopefully we will get it done in four hours, take the afternoon off, and travel day tomorrow and unload it sunday. >> reporter: 53-foot truck headed to clearwater florida pulled into citizens bank park around 8:00 friday morning within minutes the supplies came rolling through. >> you put heavy trunks on first, and containers and separate it like we can, luggage all together makes it easier. >> reporter: all hand kind of day on deck here in the ballpark and that includes us roving reporters. these bags are heavy n all they are toting 2400 baseball

here's some of the day's top stories officials say freezing cold, may to be blame for a marble sign, partially crumbling and then collapsing on to walnut street. l and i investigators are looking into whether the freezing moisture may have caused the sign to separate from the building. no one was hurt. those chunks did tear through an awning before crashing to the ground. well, the icy aftermath here after fire fighters bring a house fire under control in avalon, cape may county. this house was under construction that caught fire overnight and spread to an adjoining house no one was hurt. the causes under investigation. the cold will stick around. commuters were bundled up head to toe at 69th street station in upper darby today, kate. unfortunately it will feel worse, much worse today, on sun dane and it is all thanks to this clipper system that is in moving through tomorrow with some dangerous liz cold snow squals out and about driving in them in our area a few inches of snow, perhaps

and then that system will ramp up off the coast of new england bringing us strong wind. winter weather an ad risery has been issued for chance of snow tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. i will tell you how strong those wind will get and a very old record that may come down. the that is coming up in a bit, guess contact. >> thanks very much. new at 5:30 it is a mystery making national headlines, a champion power boat racer whom authorities suspect of staging a boat accident to avoid police resurfaces. tonight investigators tell "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan is that they want answer from his andrew biddell. >> reporter: nick loose owe is furious he was are rescuers in the mid of the night last july looking for andrew biddle after a boat biddle was in crashed on the rocks behind longport. thursday biddle turned himself in with no explanation where he has been all these months. >> i was than the totally shocked but i just can't help but think that this was just

an unconsciousnable act if this is true that this accident was actually staged. >> reporter: biddle's friend justin bells told authorities that biddle disappeared into the water a after the two struck a channel marker. many found unbelievable biddle a boat racing champion could crash a slow moving pontoon boat. within weeks word spread to egg harbor township police believe biddle was on the run because of an outstanding fraud charges with his boat business. since biddle posted bond and he was never placed in jail, we stopped in his house. no answer but we did see a figure inside. moments after we arrived owe did a pizza delivery. if biddle was inside he opted to skip lunch rather to be seen on camera. one of the things that, bothers public safety officials is that anyone of the rescuers could have gotten hurt, falling down while they climbed on the jetty, at night. >> i commend the people that worked on this that put their lives at stake to try to rescue someone who is non-existent.

>> reporter: the mayor says he will pursue charges against both biddle and bells if they conspired to stage the boating accident n longport, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, now to a bus ride that students in minnesota won't soon forget. eleven children were trapped on this runaway school bus, after their driver suffered a in medical emergency and lost control. our correspondent marley hall says its was i a a terrifying ordeal and it was all caught on tape. >> reporter: eleven students are lucky to be alive, the children ranging in age from six to 14 were on their way home from school in minnesota a on wednesday when their driver suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the bus. >> a sheriff's deputy saw the bus, weaving erratically and tried to intervene. her dash cam recorded the scary ride. >> first inside the vehicle, in its lane a little bit and then it is not right and then she was turning her lights on trying to stop but then it became more pronounced. >> reporter: the the bus was

traveling at 40 miles an hour and at one point it swerved in the ditch, almost tipped over and made it back on the road. the deputy tried to warn on coming traffic. >> getting around the the bus in the opposite lane to alert vehicle also that were a a head of the bus that there was some problem on the roadway there to get them to get out of the way. >> reporter: one driver of the road backed into a driveway to avoid a head on crash. state trooper eventually used stop sticks to get the bus to stop in a ditch. the terrifying ride went on for 5 miles and lasted 14 minutes. kid on the bus used their cell phones to call nine # one, and their parents during the ordeal. the 68 year-old bus driver was rush to the hospital. none of the kid on the bus were hurt. marley hall for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". wow, a day they will never forget there is no word tonight on the condition of that bus driver. well, now lets take a look at this a man crashed in the car, crashed a car rather in a

barrier in front of the u.s. consulate in shanghai, china thinks surveillance video showing a police officer being thrown into the the air by the impact of that crash last night. he suffered minor injuries as for the driver, he told officials that he felt he was being chased by assassins and wanted to get some attention. and a 19 year-old man is charged with second degree murder after police say he shot and killed two people at a mardi gras parade in new orleans. police say an argument spurred that shooting that happened around 10:00 last night. officers were stationed nearby and they quickly apprehended the suspect. new orleans will host several parade daily until mardi gras which is tuesday. >> local dead beat parents and others without standing warrants are feeling effects of friday the the 13th. the philadelphia sheriff's office rounded up 42 people in what they called operation dead beat sweep. authorities say that those who were a arrested have outstanding warrants for everything from domestic violence, to dui charges to

unpaid child support. >> the old child support pay it. there is $187,000 that we were able to bring people in who owe this debt. >> this was a collective law enforcement effort that included officers from bucks, chester, and delaware counties. developing right now, the governor of oregon resigned just about an hour ago amid a corruption scandal. governor john had faced mounting calls to quit. the reports indicated his fiance advised the governor on energy policy while getting paid by a group advocating on that issue. the oregon secretary of state kate brown becomes a new governor's effective wednesday. twenty-two marines had to be treated for gas exposure following a training accident in california on thursday. nineteen of those men have been treated and released but three were kept overnight. officials say those marines were on board an amphibious assault vehicle will when equipment malfunctioned and that caused fire extinguishers

to go on. it is relatively safe but it can cause breathing problems in high concentrations. well, death of the 60 minutes correspondent bob simon is being ruled an accident. the medical examiner in new york said today that simon died from blunt force injuries to his head and body. he wasn't wearing a seat belt when the the car in which he was riding collided with another car in manhattan on wednesday night. the law does not require passengers in chauffeured vehicles to wear seat belts. well, journalism world is mourning the loss of the new york times media columnist david carr tonight, he collapsed in his office last night. this footage is from cbs this morning where car made an appearance earlier this week. the medical examiner's office plans to look into his death david carr was just 58 years old. we have nothing short of a busy friday at 5:37. we will go outside first and start off on the schuylkill expressway right around city
