talking about out on the schuylkill expressway, just little bit after 6:00 a.m. typically things would be starting to back up little bit now. you can see some cars are headed out the door on the roadways here, so not completely out of the woods yet no problems on the schuylkill right around city avenue. on 95, right around cottman avenue, pretty much the same story here, very light volume, headed southbound toward center city right in the work zone there as well, currently no problems. we do have building fire, 52nd street between spruce and locust taking up a lot of the area there. take 51st street to get on by for the time being dealing with problems and detours for the septa bus. >> breaking right now, there are now two, two alarm fires raging at the same time in the city of philadelphia. chopper three on its way to house fire we're toll on erie avenue in north philadelphia.

and it will last us through tomorrow morning generally tapering off completely by about lunchtime looking forward to the forecast, maybe few snow showers or flurries on wednesday too nothing that far caliber but sends us back to the cold again for thursday and friday, jess? >> doing relatively fine outside so far. still early. expecting some light volume because of the holiday. 422 right around trooper road. trooper road right in here it, wraps on around, headed eastbound toward the king of prussia area. currently no problems westbound as well. now over in new jersey starting to build in little volume. something we normally see on the 42 freeway. right around creek road. so the northbound lanes still doing just fine now. out in west philadelphia, still that building fire. fifty-second street between spruce and locust, you want to take 51 to get on by. also, affecting septa's route 52 bus that will be detoured around the area. also, nor philadelphia, erie between 17th and 18th, take venango and butler to get on by that fire for the time

being. as well, detour septa bus for the route two being detoured around the area. out in chestnut hill benefit street near ardly street actually was earlier gas explosion and now they are working on the roadways there take willow grove avenue to get on by. twenty-five year old thomas mure remains in chester county prison unable to post bail following deadly valentine crash that killed two siblings. mure driving under the influence when he slammed his pick-up truck into mini-van there is happened on route 100, in uekland township saturday night. miles and charlotte hand began were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. >> i can't imagine how quickly it happened. car was pushed several hundred feet just to one second to be okay then the next second, you know, everything just changed. >> shark lot junior at downingtown west high school. her brother miles was recent graduate. the school plans to make grief

counselors available for any student need ago cyst tans in the days ahead. >> police are also investigating this deadly crash, in philadelphia's ogontz neighborhood. we're told a man in his 50's was killed after two cars collided on ogontz and west fisher avenue sunday afternoon. second person was rush to the hospital. their conditions have not been released. >> two simultaneous two alarm fires burning right now in the city of philadelphia. the first, in north philly, where fire fight remembers battling a house fire on the 1700 block every west erie avenue. the city actually brought in septa busses to evacuate surrounding homes. >> now that second two alarm fire this one is on 52nd street in west philadelphia. there are no report of any injuries. but, again firefighters facing not only those towering flames but also, dangerously cold temperatures getting word several homes are without power. imagine not having your heat snob. >> no doubt. residents of some of the amounts impacted by the gas

(south 512th street turning into icy mess. look at all that, firefighters battle two alarm fire. that blaze burning for more than two hours now, you can see some of the power lines are already coat in the ice. just 3 degrees out there makes them with the water they're using the fire chief said he thinks that build something vacant. no word and when start that fire and we're told in one was hurt. they're fighting the flames and bitter cold this morning. these temperatures, without the windchill looks like 3 degrees on the screen. >> so frigid. appears as though it will be a while before we have a chance to see the thermometer readings even pull above freezing. so this may not even melt. sun starting to pop over the

out in north philadelphia, there is building fire at erie avenue between 17th and 18th. take venango street or butler to get on by. also affecting septa's route two bus being detoured, around the area. and another fire, that just popped up, being reported naught north philadelphia, at front knack street at benton avenue. philadelphia, that building fire 52nd street between spruce and locust, you want to take 51st to get on by. back to you. >> jessica thank you. update fire tears through commercial fire in west philadelphia. jan carabeo joins us now from the scene she is on 52nd street to bring us all to up date. jan? >> good morning. ukee, nothing makes a cold morning even colder than work like this, and still dozens of fire fighters remain on scene here in west philadelphia this morning. putting water on this burning building we're little far from the scene but if you take a look at the video we shot earlier this morning, you can get great look at how intense the fire was.

those flames raging and ripping through this building, now there is fire started right around 4:00 this morning. and the 200 block of south 52nd street. as firefighters arrived on scene, the fire rose to two alarms we're told, this is commercial building at one point had pharmacy on the bottom, doctors offices above. now told by the fire department this is vague and the building. at this point, no reported injuries. however, some of the neighboring homes have been evacuated, this is still a very active and ongoing scene. if you take our live pictures at the scene you get a good idea about how cold it is this morning. averaging 2 degrees in philadelphia those icicles are forming here on scene so very coal morning firefighters should be out here but doing great job. red cross on scene to help people who have been evacuated from neighboring homes. keeping them warm on the cold night. fire crews again continue to put water on the fire, obviously a developing story

now, if you are going to go outside, you will want to layer up. we are hearing out here at least three layers is what you want. i have on much more than that. i'm still actually very, very cold. you will also want to be very careful with exposed skin out here too could put you at risk for hypothermia, or frostbite. if you can minimize activity outside here today. again, we are in single digits, so take a break out here because the windchill came really will knock you down, making it feel like 15 degrees below zero out here. now, most of us again have warm spots to go to, some point today, many of us do not. so several shelters stepping up to help those in need. take a listen. >> very much, very cold. if you have to guess the temperature what would you guess. >> single digits. >> so many people struggling and in need of shelter and even heat. you know, all these things. >> and, to that end several county and city agencies step to up keep you warm with

good morning everybody, 6:43 yes, definately dealing with lighter volume than normal, normal monday morning. most that far probably the holiday here, but you can see little bit of volume on 95 around girard, nothing really setting anybody back too much in the southbound lanes here headed toward center city currently no problems. no problems on the ben franklin bridge, all lanes open. see most of the volume headed westbound into the city. good thing, they are still moving with some space inbetween cars and all lanes open headed into philadelphia. otherwise, out in delaware, few accidents popping up, 495 northbound near philadelphia pike claymont, that's an accident there pushed over to the shoulder. and another crash out in just outside of downingtown on route 340, near the route 30 bypass. and out in north philadelphia, erie avenue between 17th and 18th, there is a building fire, and you want to take venango street or butler to get on by. back to you. >> talking about this all morning long there is dangerous cold. >> how to make sure you're staying safe. family physician doctor rob

dan off with what you need to know. good to see you sir. welcome. when temps go this low what's the major concern for you? what should you look out for? hypothermia. our body temperatures gets real low also, frostbite. this is real. a loft times people think oh, it won't happen. i saw a jogger yesterday, in the emergency department like oh no no wonder your hands are that bad. really dangerous it could kill. >> we know we're supposed to limit time outside. if you have to be outside what are the signs to look for to know do you have get. >> if i thing shivering. our bad i's way of saying i'm real cold, let me warm myself. shiver a little, then start it sliver a l then something i call the umgle. you fumble, hard to hold onto things, you stumble, hard to walk. and you mumble, it is hard to talk. so it is starting to get really bad. your symptoms of hypothermia which means your body temperature is getting lower. normally around 98.6, hypothermia around 9a the slower and the lower our temperatures goes, our body systems starts to shut down.

if we start to sliver, early warning sign, please get inside and get warm. >> talk to us about the signs of frostbite, how long it takes for that to set in? >> today right now you can get frost bitten on skin that's not covered within 30 minutes. frostbite is actually freezing of skin tissue. the surface and the tissues. so first you might get pale skin, you might get warning sign, might start to get tingling, numbness, and very come on, your hands your feet but your nose, the top of your ears, also believe it or not your eyes. sometimes people feel like stinging or something in there. we really need to protect t so within 30 minutes uncovered skin today be real careful. >> that's the key you got to cover up. here is something to cover your head and your ears you brought with us? >> so many people don't cover their ears. they go out there. and it is really dangerous because, again, it can get very numb or throbbing that's early morning sign that your skin tissues are starting to freeze. so get inside. also, people with asthma, heart disease, very dane are you for those people.
