aware valley. now all is gone and all that remains, is a little bit more to shovel. snow today, well, we saw the most in cape may as expect 7 inches in brick township 6 inches moorestown new jersey, burlington county 5.5. five in bensalem. malvern, checking in at 4 inches of snow. now a look ahead to the temperatures in the 20's now. very comfortable. come tomorrow morning, we will wake up to temperatures mainly in the teens with the exception of the shore and wildwood 25, that means anything that melts today with the salt on the roads and the sunshine, will be refreezing overnight, so please, be aware of the refreeze so, it will be icy and many spots, to just take it slow tonight and even tomorrow morning watch for that black ice. coming up we will talk more about another round of snow coming our way record cold, again, and we have an eye on that developing weekend storm. more on that coming up later in the broadcast, see you then. developing news right new there has been an ice rescue

this afternoon in monmouth county, new jersey. rescuers were called to the scene in middletown and three people, found themselves in trouble after they ventured out on to a dock-like structure in sandy hook bay. the rescuers had to get into the the the what the tore save one woman who had fallen in but other two were able to walk back with the help of rescuers. all three of been taken to the hospital, to be check out, we will update you on that story throughout the night. well this storm has certainly dropped a lot of snow along the jersey shore. some communities getting 8 inches. live team three coverage continues with new jersey reporter cleve bryan in cape may, cleve. >> reporter: chris, cape may absolutely beautiful today, but after people took in the scene, came a lot of hard work because seven or 8 inches is a lot of snow and requires a lot of effort to remove it. we found out today that people had different method forgetting the the job done.

shovels, check. snowplows, a must. but here in cape may people are a little bit the more creative in getting rid of snow. on the washington street mall, kenneth, from the public works department is using is what called an amish plow to clear paths for businesses. >> as you push the wheel turns and it powers the snow as you go. >> reporter: few blocks, and broke out heavy equipment for biggest snowfall this season. it was cleaning a senior citizen complex of an all wheel drive tractor with the 42-inch snow blower. >> it is getting heavier and blocking up the machine. turf keep unblocking the machine. >> reporter: in the town that gets new jersey's lowest snow totals in winter storms people can take a lesson on snow removal from retired teacher sumac tire. with none of her grandchildren nearby to lend a hand the 69 year-old uses an electric snow shovel. >> i have been here ten minutes and the the walkway is good.

"eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live in fairmount with more todd. >> reporter: jessica, to be clear, kid absolutely loved not having school today. we have been watching them sled up and down this hill all day to day in fairmount. they have absolutely been having a ball but some parents as you mentioned were less than thrilled with the way things unfolded this morning. as this storm blanketed the delaware valley with snow the call came out at 4:00 in the morning, philadelphia school district was having a two hour delay. the as parents started to make plans for work and their kid.

>> what would you do normally if you had to go to work. >> she would have went to her grandparent's house. >> reporter: then something unusual happen school district administrators change that are mind and just after 6:00 the choice was made to close cools for the the day. >> watching news, two hour delay. i figure i could take my job tell my job i'll running two hours late. once they told me school is not opening i a had to contact my job and call out. i had to miss work. >> reporter: whatever inconvenience, district administrators say it was the right call. >> we will do it if we think it is best for children and best for staff and for their safety. >> reporter: considering many children take septa to school bus these in morning were still being detoured due to road conditions and citing the national weather service, the district says circumstances change after the two hour delay was called, at 4:00. >> actually it was a winter warning that was put out by the national forecast. >> reporter: despite change from the delay to the closing many parents we talked to took it all in stride.

let us know on facebook or twitter, use hash tag cbs-3 chat. we have new information tonight about this mass at 52nd and locust, building that caught fire and is now covered in ice. philadelphia's department of licenses and inspections has now classified this building as i am mentally dangerous. the the city says it plans to demolish the property within ten days, and perhaps sooner if the owner doesn't do it the first. again there is no word on what caused the fire there at that building. pennsylvania's former treasurer rob mccord awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to extortion charges. here is mccord leaving the courthouse in harrisburg after entering his plea today. the five five-year old was serving a second term as treasurer when abruptly resigned last month. the prosecutors alleged that mccord tried to extort campaign contributions during his run for governor and threatened to use his position as treasurer if those contributions were not made. tonight authorities are releasing new information in the deadly community center

shooting in wilmington. new castle county police have identified the victim as 30 year-old jameer killgo. investigators say he was shot and killed inside a recording studio at rosehill community center yesterday afternoon. today search continues for the the gun man, he was last seen wearing a light colored hooded sweat shirt dark pants and dark shoes. new jersey teacher tracie harding is facing child endangerment charges, south brunswick police say a 15 year-old boy got sick at an under age drinking party at her home friday night. health officials say that the teenager's blood alcohol level was so high it could have been life threatening. harding has been suspended from her job as a first grade teacher in the edison school district. jury selection began today in the so-called black madam trial in philadelphia prosecutors say that page winslow killed a british tourist in 2011 by injecting silicone in her buttocks during an enhancement procedure during a blower at philadelphia international airport. winslow is charged with third

definitely a night break this afternoon. if you are traveling on i-95 this shot around construction zone at girard you are both north and southbound side are moving exceptionally well. you may notice truth the construction zones of cottman avenue and girard thaw do low down and that is because it is narrow at that point. we have sun glare that may slow you down but generally speaking our roadways look like this. look the at the vine street expressway n delays in either direction. it is a breeze. heading to the schuylkill, heading down to i-95 and eastbound side it is fantastic. take a look at the map. when do we see map looking this good at 5:15. you'll notice speed sensors are still high up there at 55 is your average on the schuylkill expressway, 48 traveling not too far from the vine, 49 on 295 you are seeing 29 here right around the betsy ross bridge. it is not awful traveling on 38. you just want to be mindful of stop and go points. you will hit snags but not that high volume during a rush hour that we would usually have. a a lot of people took off and

i'm chris may with the top stories for you. developing news right now rescue crews rushed to save a with man who fell through ice in sandy hook bay in middletown, new jersey. and two others were also stranded, but they were led to safety. they are all expect to be okay. well, take a look at this plow truck falls through a sink hole, bob strain sent this eyewitness cam video. it happened in warren county in north jersey. it is unclear if anyone there was injured. the region continues to clean up from overnight snowfall. today prosecutors rested their case in the trial of the form mare rena accused of killing american snipper chris kyle, and his friend. twenty-seven year-old eddie ray routh is mounting an insanity defense. before resting prosecutors played a recorded phone call of routh talking about the killings with a new yorker magazine reporter. the trial has drawn intense interest because of an oscar nominated film based on kyle's memoirs. so the question is what about the bradley cooper effect? can his popularity actually affect the the outcome of this real life trial? the insider's louie a agary joins us from los angeles with more louie. >> reporter: chris and jessica the prosecution in the american snipper trial is expected to rest their case today as chilling video of chris kyle's video was played in court. meantime the man who played kyle bradley cooper weighs in and opens up about his own personal deem ons. >> it i sat across from his father and said i will do everything i can to do right by his son. i knew i owed to it chris quite frankly to do everything

montgomery county company is hoping to capitalize on pope francis's vice tonight september by releasing a plush, doll, of the pontiff. this is the pope made by the company, bleacher creatures, they are based in plymouth meeting. they have made these dolls that look like tom brady and derek jeter in the past. bleacher creatures is working to get a partnership deal with the vatican. today is, fat tuesday, that means that mardi gras festivities have gotten underway in new orleans. >> cbs the news reporter megan alexander takes to us bourbon street.
