record. one below zero in both reading and lancaster, and currently at one below zero in allentown, we haven't technically hit records in any other location yet but within about 2 degrees, of hit that record in almost every spot right now. windchill advisories posted, this morning generally right now, our wind chills are reading in into the teens below zero most spots, with the windchill advisories, we've got windchill warnings posted, up through the pocono region for windchill values could exceed as low as say 25, 35 below zero, folks so again, very, very dangerously cold air in place here. in philadelphia, down the shore, up in the poconos today, though, looks will be deceiving. just sitting in the house and looking out the window it, looks beautiful. but the second you step out the door you got to be ready for t it is brutally cold this morning. vittoria? >> head inside katie. i'll take it from here. good morning everyone, traveling out and about on the roads, till waiting for rush hour seeing disabled vehicles pop up as a result of the extreme weather also

definitely have few accidents even water main break situations to talk about. so let's get outside we'll get right to t traveling on the 42 freeway again no signs too much of the rush hour volume just yet. just few more vehicles, traveling, now, on the northbound side of the 42, as you make your way approaching 295-6789 do have an accident in new jersey in berlin, closing the white horse pike westbound, across keys road. best alternate being 73. county line road also closed, very serious accident here at second street pike. best alternate in this area to take either byberry or street road. we have a water main break southbound on the new jersey turnpike, this is at the walt whitman service area. that water main break has really caused a problem in that area in regard to ice as well, and there is no food or water available in this area. we also have very icy situations, on ridge avenue, at lehigh, so 29th or allegheny would be your best bet. amtrak running on modified schedule because of the temperatures. >> this dangerous cold also threatening one of our most vulnerable populations with

deadly consequences. >> eight deaths reported in the area over the past few weeks. all of the victims were over 60. >> montgomery county. lehigh county, one in berks county, "eyewitness news" reporter took trip over the bridge to see how folks are faring, she joins us now from blackwood, camden county, jen where ever you are, it is just freezing out. >> hovering 1 degrees now here in blackwood, new jersey, it is frigid out here. i have three pairs of pants on. two layers of shirts, two coats, and i'm still cold with really cold when it hits, that wind hits my face. and out here we have a lot of parking attendants, gas attendants rather, they're warming up right now in a little hut there. that's good idea. everyone else running in and out to get their cup of coffee to try to stay warm out here this morning. this is serious cold. and you need to prepare for it. this frigid weather is also keeping a lot of workers busy, fixing broken pipes and heaters, we caught up with one

company that's been on the go, non-stop, trying to keep people warm, delivering that precious home heating oil. now, to get the most bang for your buck, they are suggesting setting thermostat at 68 degrees, putting on auto, so your heater won't leave all day leaving the house. good idea. also busy call centers like philly 311. operators are dealing with a lot of people concerned about not having heat, as the mercury continues to drop. all of these issues are issues that folks here in south jersey can not wait to be rid of as they stop here for cup of coffee. they're also looking for any way they can to stay warm. take a listen. >> and my car's got heated seats. i'm good. let me go! >> just got one layer on. getting out of the car and into work. >> you're running? >> i'm running in. it is cold out here. >> trust me, i am not keeping these folks long from getting inside. conducted the shortest interviews, just asking one two questions how they're

>> reporter: ukee, good morning. hours after that shooting, police are remaining on the scene here on silver street. i'll step out of the way and show you the area in question here. see that police car on the right, the mercedes where the shooting happened on the left there. that is where that man was found dead. at this point leads are slim. but police know, they are looking for a killer, armed with a semiautomatic weapon. >> in the dark of night and frigid cold, a man left for dead. about 12:30 a.m., witnesses heard gunfire, and dialed 911. police say the victim is 39 year old shot at close range inside of this mercedes parked near 27th and silver streets. >> he was suffering from gunshot wound to the face, and head. based on crime scene evidence we know that seven shots were fired through the driver door window, we found seven bullet holes. >> next, declared the man dead at the scene. meantime investigators comb

the crime scene for clues. some evidence that may lead them to this man's killer. >> the 39 year old victim is the registered owner of this 2010 mercedes benz. right now we do not have a motive for the shooting. >> reporter: and, as you heard, the search is now on for the killer, and a motive in this case, police appear to know who this man is, just not giving out his name at this point. police are also questioning those witnesses and in a hope to track down who ever shot this man overnight. we are live here on silver street justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. developing right now philadelphia police are looking for two suspects in the murder after limousine driver in olney. the driver was found shot to death at the corner of mascher street and tabor road around 9:00 last night. the limo then hit telephone pole. investigators found four bullet holes in the passenger window. police have not ruled out robbery as a possible motive. >> well, major twist in a road

from jennifer, she took this, obviously, over philadelphia. i mean it, almost reminds me of one of our graphics, that we have in our computer system for the weather t just looks so bizarre to see just iced over like this, on the schuylkill river. nice wide zoom, doesn't look all that active, does it? we do, however have a storm brewing. more than anything, it will be a front that crosses through our area, through the weekend. but, what you have got going here is some moisture, that joins us with very cold air moisture has yet to really blossom. see just very combination, right on the tail end of the loop. see that? just little hint of some snow, currently, over eastern arkansas, that will continue to blossom into a larger batch of moisture, drawing in from the moisture from the open waters of the gulf. and then as it moves in for us tomorrow there is will be moisture rich system. actually good thing if you're not huge snowman maybe not huge rain fan. then see the mixing taking place, could end up with two-4 inches in philadelphia, higher totals further north and west, moves in with

very serious accident situation there. also, we have an accident on 63rd street in philadelphia at chestnut involving tax think lane restriction, 62nd or spruce is good idea. water main break in the northeast, rhawnhurst, castor and rhawn. there are lane restrictions, bustleton avenue or solid avenue is a good idea. we head back to the desk. >> thank you now new this morning, fire in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood has critically burned a man. police say the man accidentally set himself on fire while doing drugs on the 3100 block of reed street. that fire was in control in about 15 minutes. this morning happening today, new castle county police and victims' families asking for your help to solve series of murders. the latest happened monday at the rosehill community center in new castle. jamar killgo shot while reporting music. other shootings happened at the brookside community center and the woodland park amounts. and, check out this sketch right here. police in chester county say this man is wanted for attacking teenage boy.

it happened monday night in new garden township. the 17 year old victim told police he was changing a flat tire, when the suspect came over, and then apparently beat him so badly it knocked him unconscious. police say the suspect got away with the boy's wallet, containing cash and credit cards. updating breaking news, one man shot and killed inside a mercedes just after 12:30 this morning near 27th and silver in north philly. police say at least seven shots were fired, so far no arrests. >> also, a cab driver was pulled from this wreckage near 63rd and chestnut in west philadelphia around 3:30 this morning, we're told he's in stable condition. the other driver in that collision is accused of dui. >> police are searching for two suspect in the shooting death after limousine driver in olney. it happened about 9:00 last night, and police hope nearby cameras can help them break the case. >> be right back.

>> "eyewitness news" uncovered link between deadly bacteria in california and similar outbreak that happened recently here in philadelphia. >> "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us now with the latest on this health watch investigation. nicole, good morning. >> good morning, guys, yes the health department hasn't released the name of the facility where that outbreak took place but we can tell you, that eight patients, were infected with this deadly bacteria last year, and two people with underlying conditions actually died. now, the outbreak is linked to

there are windchill advisories posted until 11:00 a.m. for everyone else. we ease up on the thermometer this weekend it, comes with new storm, first with snow tomorrow afternoon and then it turns to rain by night fall. vittoria? >> thank you so much katie. good morning everyone, so finally starting to see little bit of the rush hour traffic out there. southbound, 95 that was inconvenient southbound 95, approaching cottman avenue, rounding the curve here headed out the northeast down through to the vine, starting to go slow. speed censors dropping 50's, to the 30's, i would say primarily through construction zone you'll find they're dropping down into the teens. moving now to city avenue. we have disable vehicle on the northbound side at conshohocken state road. notice it is blocking the right lane. just since looking at this, you can really see how cold it is as the ex us a pipes of all of these vehicles here are just indicating that oh, brisk chill in the air. make sure to heat up your vehicle before you jump out on to the highways, by ways, also watch out for this accident montgomery county county line road closed at second street byberry street your best bet.

we're talking. we have two fresh newer records for you here both wilmington trenton both hit record lows, still within one 2 degrees, of hitting record lows, both at philadelphia international in atlantic city, closing in on it even in allentown right now not quite there. but it is close enough. so, even though we are talking about records i want you to focus more so on the windchill. that's definitely the more impact full number to go by. and when you are dealing with these windchill values, that are as low as ten to 25 below zero, that is dangerous. you don't want to be out in that for very long with exposed skin. now, we've got windchill advisories region wide. poconos not included here. they are windchill warnings posted for that area. for windchill values, that could even bottom out as low as 35 below zero, but as as the day progresses this isn't going to get that much better even though the thermometer will read 16 degrees, that's bad enough. you still have to factor in the breeze, which thankfully, thank goodness, is going to be easing up, the winds that; as the day progresses, but storm

scan, as you can tell, awfully deceiving, right? now that the sun is starting to pop over the horizon we ends up with beautiful sunrise, beautiful looking day but will feel so-so cold to you when you walk out the door, so be ready for it, vittoria? >> good morning, everyone, also want to be ready for some of the rush hour delays that you're going to run into. take a look behind me. bad news bears. traveling southbound on 95, the biggest problem right now. out of the northeast, all the way down through to the vine street expressway, you'll have breaks in this traffic but for the most part you will feel the slow go the entire way. this shot here, right around cottman avenue. you will notice our beautiful skyline, sort of peaking in the back here, but southbound 95 just crawl, really, northbound, not awful, but through the construction zones you will find little bit of the rush hour heat. still disable vehicle on the northbound side of city avenue conshohocken state road. blogging right lane, notice, it is causing bit of a back up of here. anyone travel in and around that area, you will want to be careful of delays. if you are traveling 202 northbound we are dealing with a closure all as a result

his grandson is little john roberts, a member of stevie wonder's band, you may remember we profiled him the other day. harold robinson was 86 of years of age losing a long time battle with dementia. former phillies catcher darren daulton says he's cancer free. daulton has been going through chemotherapy and radiation to treat a form of brain cancer. he shared the good news on twitter yesterday, writing quote, i'm incredibly bless today have a clean scan thank you to all of you for the continued support. i'm doing well, and feeling great hashtag what dutch always said: right on fight on. happening today a 46-hour dance party, for a good cause. that will get you warm, right? it is called thon. the annual event raises money to fight pediatric cancer. it kicks off tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the bryce jordan center at penn state university. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers will be live from the psu campus when it all gets rolling. now, last year, thon raised more than $13 million.
