5:18 am
weekends as well? >> we can't get away from it, and the cold so far south you can't even get to florida really and escape it. so yes looking at some very cold temperatures right now 13 degrees in philadelphia. not a record. it is just irritating. 3 degrees in trenton, nine in wilmington zero, allentown seven in the poconos 3 degrees in wildwood, minus four right now in atlantic city. so, the temperatures are definitely on the cold side. the windchill not that extreme this morning. so the temperatures are cooler than what you see but they're not as cold as we've seen the last couple of mornings, as far as the windchill goes. big area of energy. we've got a lot of precipitation coming. notice how colorful it all is. that's one of the reasons that we're going to be watching for a transition from some snow, to some mix to some rain, and we've got all of that, as warmer air starts to come into our area. but notice, we're pretty far away from it at this point. but over the next couple of hours we'll be in it. that's why we have a winter
5:19 am
storm warning, in the areas shaded in the pink, and you can see many areas allentown, reading include in the that, but not the poconos they're in the winter weather advisory, which is the little step down. it is not as much snow. it is not as big a deal. but, still we will be watching for several inches, one to three maybe through philadelphia, maybe philadelphia picks up 2 inches, but it doesn't take very far out of the city to the north and west, that you can be on the five-inch edge of that. so through south jersey, around one to three but we could also be seeing some mix in there little bit of icing as well, you know how cold the grounds has been. future weather, this is probably one of the most important graphics i'll show you all morning this is the latest thinking on the timing from one of the better computer models. and you can see that it wants to start to bring it in here around noon today by the time we move on, little bit 3:00 in the afternoon we start to see some snow through philadelphia, by the time we hit 5:00 o'clock, notice what's happening to the south some of that warmer air comes in but if it does it, comes
5:20 am
in in the form of a mix. we had onto 8:00. we get more warm air. but still you continue with that possible icing problem so watch for that tonight. by the time we hit 11:00 this computer model says many areas have changed over to rain, let's hope these grounds temperatures are above the freezing mark, you know how cold they've been again. then by 3:00 a.m., should be looking at some rain, i just want you to be really careful in the overnight time period. because we can sometimes get warmer @ loft, bringing the rain and the grounds still stays cold. so take it easy out on the roads tonight. and, first thing tomorrow, by 7:00 tomorrow morning, should be rain, should be moving off the coast and then we should be left with a day that little bit breezy but warmer. so let's hope for that amount. four-6 inches, that would be generally well to the north and west of philadelphia, but including in the lehigh valley. through philadelphia, two-4 inches of snow, and our immediate new jersey suburbs and then farther south than that, a coating to 2 inches. computer model the other graphic, i know we all love,
5:21 am
all of the computer models anything on how much snow they think philadelphia will get. you can see fairly decent span of these numbers. about 4 inches from one of the computer models, in fact, the one i showed you with the precipitation, to almost 2 inches on another the euro, almost 2 inches, the gfs little over 3 inches, through philadelphia. so not talking feet of snow. but can come down pretty heavy for a time. so maybe even snowfall rate of an inch an hour. just watch for reduced visibilities, change to go sleet, rain at night reduced visibility hazardous travel, tough on you because it is cold, and horrible for your pets, brink them in inside. they better have been inside this whole time. this is as we've heard, this is deadly weather out there. now, we're going to be finding our temperatures today a little bit milder, but it is around the freezing mark, at the shore 38, and the poconos, 25. you bring that precipitation on top of that, that makes it feel very, very cold out there today. the winds not big deal out of the south, five to 10 miles an hour, helping temperatures get
5:22 am
above freezing, but snow in the afternoon then makes that transition tonight over to some rain, some freezing rain, some sleet that sort of thing. so you get the idea about tonight. and those marginal temperatures at 32 degrees. next couple of days, we are looking at slightly warmer tomorrow, not warm, but boy it is a lot better than it has been. forty-two, even with the rain in the morning, but looks like we get some sunshine later on in the day. to monday, 22, look at monday night, back down, again 7 degrees. tuesday, below freezing. wednesday, 35 degrees. thursday, 25. friday 30 degrees. knott a bad a week coming up as we saw last week, i think nicole. >> carol, thank you. 5:22. still ahead kevin costner on the big screen again. and it is back in the hot tub at the movies this weekend. take a look. >> i'm kevin frazier, coming up kevin costner stars in the true story every underdog cross country team in mcfarland usa. boys are back with more

5:26 am
causing more trouble through time in hot tub time machine two. >> ready for another dip? >> i'm thinking maybe yoga pants. >> how far back do we go? >> 2025. >> the first trip took them to the past, now rob craig, and clark duke are heading to the future to get things back to normal for them. >> we need to find the point in time where things went wrong and fix it. >> here we go. >> so far so good. >> back in the top. >> patriots, you guys got to come with me. >> why? >> we got to make american happen, bro. >> i'm coach your new pt teacher. all right, run a lap. >> wow. >> they're fast. >> they are. >> and mcfarland usa kevin costner place coach jim white discovers untapped talent for cross country in his new community. >> do you know how fast were you going? because you were running a mile in five minutes.
5:27 am

5:32 am
for that, right now all we're finding few clouds in the area, off to the north and the west. but, notice, as i wide then view out this is the look of what's coming in. and, this storm has many temperature profiles, and that's why we're finding some snow associated with if, some sleet, freezing rain, and regular rain. and we will be getting looks like, a bit of all of that, as it moves on into our area. our temperatures this morning are of course cold. so anything that falls is going to be falling as pretty cold grounds. zero in allentown, four in reading, actual temperatures, single numbers in a lot of places, three in trenton, nine in wilmington, three in millville, minus four in atlantic city, and whopping 13 degrees out at the airport in philadelphia, with the windchill of two in philadelphia and minus ten in allentown. another bitterly cold start to the day. the temperatures move up around noon, at 21 degrees, by 3:00 p.m., just about the freezing mark, as snow moves in. and it is going to be moving in a heavy fashion at times. generally we're saying through
5:33 am
philadelphia maybe 2 inches or so. but you get to our northern and western suburb, probably looking at 5 inches of snow. and anywhere from one to three generally through philadelphia. we are in the advisory category now. it runs from noon until 1:00 a.m. for the advisory, and this winter weather warning, shaded in the pink, goes from noon until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. we'll time all of that out let you know when all of this starts. looks like it is probably going to be right around noon to 2:00 that we start to see it off to the west. we'll finish out a time line for you. let you know what all of the computer models are thinking this morning that's just ahead. nick snow. >> carol, thank you. more now on breaking news, two alarm fire at south jersey apartment complex. this is all happening on gibbsboro road at the emerald ridge apartments. that's where we find "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson liver on mobile three with all of the details, steve what can you tell us? >> good morning to you nicole. kind of good news-bad news. obviously the bad news this fire has torn through one building, four units, in the apartment complex behind me.
5:34 am
you can see the guys still on scene working here as they start to break down the scene the good news, word from the chief, this could have been a whole lot worse. you can see some of the smoke kind of rising up, but they've got this completely under control now at this point it broke out about 3:00 this morning, this was a two alarm fire, the emerald ridge amounts here in new jersey firefighters arrive to one building fully engulfed, flames shooting up through the roof, in all about four units affected that one building, 24 people displaced. but, everyone got out of there with no injuries, thankfully, nobody hurt in this fire. we did speak to the chief. did he say look, the cold weather certainly played a factor, in them trying to knock down the flames, get everything under control. but they were able to do so. listen to the chief on this. >> naturally the cold and the ice play a part in putting out. try and just do the best we can do with what we have at the time. luckily the winds have died
5:35 am
down so that was a contributing factor. >> again thankfully, nobody injured in this. the displaced residents have moved to other units. the red cross is on scene while they try to figure out where to take those residents from here. but again the good part in this: nobody injured. live in lindenwald, new jersey, steve patterson cbs-3, "eyewitness news" back to you nicole. >> that's the important part, steve, thank you. >> meanwhile, a sprinkler pipe burst flooding part of a movie theater at the christianna mall. it happened friday evening in the lobby of the sin a mark theater. it was evacuated, now closed until repairs can be made. >> well, honor for a man whose dedicated his life to serve his country. but what's being done to honor him is unlike anything you've likely heard before. of february. as i don't have to tell anyone. let's take a look at storm scan3, right now, you can see, this is the next weather feature, we will be dealing with because every weekend apparently we have to have to deal with something, or at least, think about something that's coming on upon day. so, every weekend we get the snow to begin with, it is very cold, and then we start to see a mix as some of the warmer air comes in, then when the warm air does come in, relatively warm air, that's when we start to see the transition to rain. but, not seeing any that far in the area right now. it will take couple of more hours, at least probably, after the noon hour, before we start to see the precipitation coming here. thirteen in philadelphia, zero in allentown, three in millville, you know, even if you added up all of these numbers, that would not even be an acceptable temperature. so, the weather has got to try a little bit harder. this is ridiculous. we have winter storm warning in effect. those are the areas that you see shaded in the pink, and that starts at noon, goes until 6:00 tomorrow morning. generally, you can think of
5:48 am
maybe four to 6 inches of snow in any of the areas that you see shaded in those colors. where we're finding the winter weather advisory that starts at noon, goes until 1:00 tomorrow morning, this is where we're more likely to be find that one to three-inch range. that does include the philadelphia area. so maybe 2 inches of snow through philadelphia, and you just get to upper bucks montgomery counties and already at 5 inches. so pretty sharp gradient of who is going to be getting what. and just kind of a thin line, maybe your neighbor gets a lot more than you do. but generally, the heaviest is going to be to the north and the west. and then, everybody seems to be getting into this transition. let's see the future weather so take a look, up, if you haven't yet take those covers off your head, and take a look, and we start to see around 1:00 this afternoon outskirt of allentown reading, the way this is pegging it right now we start to see the snow moving in. we can be finding some bursts of snow, as well. so especially where you're finding some of the darker shades of blue, where maybe some of the heavier snow
5:49 am
starts to come in in these bursts, that can quickly overwhelm the roads. so expect to find travel later this afternoon. not all that great. we have the snow through philadelphia. this is a look at 6:00. the warmer air starting to come in here. it starts to keep its creep going up by 8:00 we're seeing the mix seeing the rain, seeing the snow to the north. we keep that warmer air coming in here, by 11:00. should have transitioned over in philadelphia, should be rain overnight for most everybody, this thing exits fairly early on sunday, and we're left with a day that's not all that bad. and temperatures that aren't all that bad either. so we watch for complex system coming in here, but the temperatures tomorrow in the 40's, right back counselor just chop it in half, go to the 20's again monday. amounts, two-four through philadelphia, four-six north and west, coating to 2 inches right along the shore areas. and the computer models are saying that we're problem bye going to be dealing with 3 inches through philadelphia, could be little bit less, but just know that noon to we start to see the snow moving
5:50 am
in, from the west, six to eight, we see that change-over starting sleet rain, maybe some freezing rain, so be careful of ice then after that later on tonight we would go over to all rain. but at 33 degrees today just watch for that snow, because the roads can become very, very tricky. keep those pets inside. keep those phonecalls to your friends, neighbors and, you know what, even call the people you don't like. just to make sure they're okay in this weather. thirty-two gross, we get some freezing rain possible tonight, before a change-over to rain early very early overnight, should be in most areas, just be careful on the road though, 42 for the high tomorrow. with some sunshine later on in the afternoon, 22 on monday, 26 tuesday thursday, 25, you see the week, it is spelled out there, seven day forecast, better week this week than last week, though. nicole? >> all right, carol, thank up. today marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of malcolm x. it happened at the audubon ballroom in harlem. don champion went to where he
