philadelphia for the windchill. and minus three down in wilmington. so this is a cold start to the day. again, but we are on moderating trend. by the time we hit noon almost at the freezing mark, by the time we hit 3:00 p.m. we are well past, 38 degrees, we could zoo a spot of 42 degrees, could start the melting. careful of icy spots we did get melting yesterday and refreeze is out there. future weather looks just terrific. maybe couple of clouds here and there now and again but that's a lot better than what we've been dealing with. we'll take a look at not so bad seven day forecast coming up. nick snow. >> carol, thank you. we do have more now on breaking news, firefighters still putting out hot spots after gaining the upper hand on a two alarm fire in montgomery county, "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson live at the scene on dekalb pike in whitpain township. steve, what's the latest there? they have the upper hands but it doesn't mean they are

taking any chances and still much work to be done. eyes on scene as soon as possible. take a look there up at the roofment the second floor of that home is what was engulfed when fee fighters arrived. since continued dumping water on the top there. spreading through the top of the walls, then again shooting up through the roof. that's where fire fight verse had to concentrate their effort this morning. that means that all that water trickles down throughout the structure lands on the gown, and there is concern about how much ice there is this morning. >> firebreak out becomes two hours ago fire in the walls the roof. they had to quickly evacuate because of how quickly the flames did spread. defensive posturing as they continue to knock out those flames and turn that just to really smoke operation luckily, the property was unoccupied. it was being renovated. so nobody inside. but again firefighters making sure they took a defensive

posturing take nothing chance with the fires part of the operation had to be salting operation, to keep their guys safe. in fact, one firefighter did suffer some minor injuries, he slipped, and fell, another firefighter had a significant burn on his hand. nobody transported. but again they're trying to remain safe, as the ice is just as bad as the fire this morning. that's an operation that will continue as this goes along. right in you they have it contained, continuing to knock out some of the hot spots as they move along here. the latest from montgomery county, steve patterson cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> difficult job steve thank you. >> just back from the scene two cars collided overnight along route three; lambertville, hopewell road. now, police tell cbs-3 one person was killed, several other victims, flown to area hospitalization. we are working to get more

details on those victims. >> one person killed in a shooting 2100 block of west indianna avenue. homicide detective say the man was shot in the back. he was rushed to temple hospital, where he's pronounced dead. an investigation is underway, and so far there are no arrests. well officer robert wilson killed in the line of duty this week, is being remembered across our area by those who knew him as a friends and neighbor. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has more from the 22nd district. >> in remembrance of fallen police officer robert wilson, black bunting hangs at the 22nd district. outside wilson's home, neighbors cleared his stoop and left a small memorial to a brave officer and friend. >> just a shame. >> i just feel sorry for his family, that's all, because you know he got little kids. >> wilson died protecting the people inside the game stop on 22nd and lehigh thursday

engaged in a fierce gun battle. >> he redefined what a hero is all b1, stepped away from the counter there. were civilians there i counted four behind the counter. he was taking rounds, he was actually being hit during the exchange of gunfire but he continued to fight, continued to shoot. >> more than 50 rounds were fired. the fight caught on store surveillance video. officer wilson, a 30 year old father of two was in line buying a gift for his eight year old son. just after 43 brothers 29 year old carlton hips and 24 year old ramon williams walk in with semiautomatic weapons and announced a robbery. >> the officer was out-and-out hero and a warrier he fought to the very, very end. >> the eight year veteran shot in the head, his partner engaged suspect shooting hips in the leg. >> one of the very, very best no question about it, and we're all in shock and we're all going to suffer this lost

for very, very long period of time. >> officer wilson's son turns nine on monday, he was at the game stop, buying him a video game for doing well in school. both suspect are now charged with murder, and attempted murder, one has given full confession saying, they thought the game stop would be quota easy target. in north philadelphia, i'm diana rocco cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> actor dan akeroid in town for the philadelphia shower show said he plans to set up for the memorial fund set up for officer wilson's family. >> encourage listeners to step up, and kind of match the contributions coming, and we are talking to or corporate office in toronto, make sure happens next week. >> anyone wish to go make a donation can mail a check to the robert wilson iii family memorial trust fund. police and fire credit union at 901 arch street philadelphia pennsylvania, 19107. that information is also posted on our website.

>> officer wilson will be remembered during special mass tomorrow morning at saint martin parish, the address: 2340 west lehigh avenue in philadelphia. the mass begins at 10:00 o'clock. well, new jersey senator robert menendez is said to be in the cross hairs of federal prosecutors. informed sources say a long investigation every menendez and a close friend is near it ends and will result in charges of corruption. "eyewitness news" anchor chris may has the latest. >> hours after a law enforcement officials told cbs news the justin department is preparing to file criminal charges against senator menendez, he called a news conference to fight back. >> let me be very clear very clear. i have always conducted myself appropriately, in accordance with the law. >> democrat from union city has drawn scrutiny for his relationship with eye doctor solomon, investigators want to know if menendez used killings position to top the senate foreign relations committee

delaware river so much ice in it, that will also be changing, we see the temperatures warming up this week. storm scan3 no problems in our area, whatsoever. dry, gorgeous, nice day but a cold one at least to start. 11 degrees, in philadelphia, right now. and we've taken one of those once away to make it one agree in allentown we've got eight in trenton 8 degrees in wilmington, the i-95 corridor very cold. cold down through millville at 50 at 7 degrees on route 55, that whole area, that's cold, too. down through wildwood, 21 degrees poconos coldment factor in the wind, feels like minus ten in allentown, feels like zero right now in philadelphia. so fingertips will be very frosty, and remember that also goes to your pets, they get hypothermia, just as women and frostbite. you can do that, but we do warm up. 29 degrees by noon, by 3:00 p.m. at 38 degrees. it is above freezing around here we've got nice looking day shaping up.

"eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson live in whitpain township. steve, firefighters had dealing with not just fire but also the e really cold out there? >> that's correct, been here several hours trying to knock down the flames in the two story stricture, see back to the top floor. that's where they've been focused all morning dumping dousing water on top there the fire spread through the walls and shot up through the roofment it is under control as you can see but because of how much water they had to dump through the structure that met a loft ice on the gown.

base it spread so quickly it led to several problems. fire broke out as we mentioned, firefighters were inside when it started but they had to quickly evacuate because of the flames, that casino of spread throughout the structure again very quickly, and then dealing with once again when they were outside, dealing with all of the ice on the gown actually one firefighter sustained an injury slip and fall, during the fire, another one burned his hand, because again of how quickly this spread. so now, it is contained, it is under control, it has been centered on the top of that structure, this structure by the way is going through renovation, so nobody inside it was not occupied. nobody inside at the time, no cause for evacuation, but firefighters taking all the precautions this morning because of how cold, house ice at this has been so far. they're back inside now doing some work, trying to get the flammable materials out, and working on the hot spots as they have a container on the structure. this is the latest from montgomery county.

"eyewitness news" at the woods edge ants, edgemore. it took several hours for firefighters gain the upper hand on that fire. now, at one point part of the roof collapsed. no one was injured. several residents are displaced. well, officer robert wilson killed in the line every duty this week, being remembered across our area by those who knew him as a friend, and also, a neighbor. says wilson redefined what teens to be a here o black bunting hangs outside the district where wilson work. another memorial this one outside wilson's home where neighbors work to clear snow from his front walk. >> just a shame. i feel sorry that's all. because, you know, you got little kids.

>> will be tomorrow morning at a mass, the address 2340 west lehigh avenue in philadelphia. the mass begins at 10:00. learning moth in the suspect charged. investigative reporter charlotte hoffman uncovered court document, spoke to man who used to rent a home to one of the men under arrest. use to describe 24 year old ramon williams, 29 year old carlton hips, who both, could face the death penalty. the two brothers live together here, on the 1200 block of north hollywood street, in brewerytown. police executed a search warrant of the home, and recovered ak47. today no one answered the phone, and a neighbor passing by told us this. williams used to live with his mother at this north philly apartment. the i-team tracked down the family's former landlord.

>> this boy ramon williams, his mother had rent adapt. he was gone most of the time. he had a fast carry know, all done up. >> not the first time the two brother ran into trouble with the law. >> ramon williams has two arrests, carlton hips has six arrests. he got out of press none i believe it was 2009. >> the i-team found williams arrest record includes retail theft, hips has multiple convictions, he pled guilty to rob and afire arms charges following 2004 incident and was sentenced to ten years bye hips only served the minimum five before being released on parole in 2009. state probation and parole board documents obtain by the i teen show hips received a positive recommendation from the department of corrections the board determined he was not a risk to the community and demonstrated motivation for success. as of yesterday, hips was still on county probation.

he met with his probation officer on tuesday who noted no problems. under county probation, hips was prohibit from the possessing any firearms. williams has confessed to police that the semiautomatic guns they used in the shooting at the game stop were purchased on the streets now police are investigating who may have illegally supplied those guns to the brothers, and that person could face charges. for the i-team, charlotte huffman, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". members of the philadelphia police department established a trust fund for officer wilson's family. you can find information on that plus any developments in the investigation on cbsphilly.com. happening today search teams will gather to look for a missing teenager from newtown square, delaware county. meantime we're learning the fbi is now involved in the search effort. hundreds of volunteers spent the day friday, looking for 13 year old cayman naib. last seen at his harrison drive home wednesday evening.
