terrifying train ride to philadelphia when that amtrak train slams into a truck and derails. now, some of the passengers on that train arrived here in philadelphia overnight after a long day and night of travel. yoll hear what they have it say about that violent collision that knocked the train right off the tracks. >> good morning, everyone, also it is shaping up to be another warm march day. but storm scan3 shows us it will be a wet one as well. let's check traffic and weather together right now with jessica and kate. kate's in the house. good morning. >> good morning guys. yep, track that rain moving, in as you saw locally, just some clouds out there this morning. but, the rain is pushing in from the south and west, and it will get here, by afternoon. so let's take a look how things are shaping up outside. we take you out to our actually take you out in just up couple every minutes to storm scan picture, range moving, in slick spots on the roads this morning let's see if that's i impacting travel at all. good morning. >> good morning, doing okay so far. we don't have a lot in the way of volume. starting things off on the blue route, ridge pike, southbound lanes see no volume there, not real a lot of

problems headed out northbound, few problems in new jersey, water main breaks, and we'll talk about those in a second. >> in morning as we were saying passengers on board the derailed amtrak train telling "eyewitness news" about their harrowing ordeal. >> collided when tractor-trailer stuck on the tracks in north carolina jan carabeo at 30th street station right now with new passenger reaction after they finally made it back home. jan? >> reporter: good morning frightening day, turned into long night of travel, for many philadelphia passengers, and that amtrak train that collided in north carolina, was actually supposed to pull into the 30th street station here in philadelphia, at 7:00 last night, well, many of the passengers did not arrive until just few hours ago. fake a look, two late night trains that pulled into philadelphia, one at 11:00 another around midnight. they were tired shaken, the passengers were, and that's because around noon, their amtrak train operating from charlotte, collided with a big rig, that had stalled on the tracks in hal fax county north

carolina the collision toppled the engine and derailed some cars. the impact also injured dozen of people at least 40, thankfully, no one was seriously injured. now amtrak says 212 passengers and eight crew members on board at the time of the collision. and that included clinton jackman from malvern. he was in the cafe car during the collision, he says it turned out to be the first car left standing on the tracks. take a listen. >> it was just a big joke. and well, right before the impact we sort of heard the brakes, or the squealing and then once we hit of course, it was a thrust, a great momentum. that was pretty scary. >> very happy to be home this morning, in the meantime, that train, that collided and then derailed that usually runs from charlotte to new york every day, told crews worked around the clock to get the crash scene clear and the

tracks reopened, this morning and the investigation into the crash still continuing. >> reporting outside the 30th street station this morning, jan carabeo "eyewitness news". >> jan, thank you. developing now the search on for woman who disappeared in montgomery county. take a look right now at your screen, 20 year old deidra magolin. last seen leaving her home in royersford friday night. she took her sister's car found near route 322 in king of prussia. magolin has left home before, but never for more than few hours. >> 5:33, we check in with kate, hear more about the showers coming our way. after the noon hour, starting day with cloud cover and the chance for little bit of icing on area roadways. thanks to all of the melted snow from yesterday. moving in during the afternoon, take a look outside, storm scan3, you can see the big shield of precipitation headed our way and it is encompassing

southern illinois, indianna, kentucky tennessee. still a loft real estate between us and the rain, but will eventually get here starting by 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m., few light showers could get in, on the leading edge of the precipitation nothing out there right now it is generally quite, which is a good thing, because if rain was coming in right now with temperatures generally below freezing in some spots we would be talking about freezing rain. that's not going to be a concern with this system. it will come in in the afternoon when temperatures are mild enough to support just plane rain. but, with all of that melted snow from yesterday, you can see these numbers, temps at or below freezing in many spots do watch for some icy travel. icy spots specially under bridge and overpasses anywhere where you have snow melting and dripping on to the roadway, if it looks wet and your car thermometer says it is below 32 degrees, or even below 34 degrees being expect it could be icy. so your day planner 9:00 a.m. clouds increase, at 42 degrees by noon at 49, manually cloudy, noon to 3:00 steadier rain after the 3:00 hour, and that will impact your evening commute.

we expect some steady rain around 5:00, 6:00 continuing until perhaps midnight. so the afternoon and evening the focus every rain today when travel will be most hazardous with low visibility, and even some ponding on area roadways this afternoon. we'll check in on the roads now though with jessica see how things are shaping up. >> good morning, yes doing okay right now. just little bit after 5:30, and the roadways are dry and that's definitely a good thing. we will start things off on the blue route right around ridge pike, southbound lanes where the taillights are. southbound doing just fine. see no incidents. everything looking really dry there, as well. over on the ben franklin bridge currently experiencing no problems. not a lot in the way of volume. you can see, headed westbound all lanes open. and just moving nicely, into the city, no problems headed into new jersey, as well. the talcony palmyra bridge scheduled for a bridge opening between 5:30 and 6:00. should be any minute now. expect residual delays in or out of the area or take the betsy ross bridge. out in northeast philadelphia, there is water main break on robbins street between walker

street anal guard street, use some caution with police activity on the scene police directing traffic around there. thank you. >> new jersey is on the pothole patrol, after rough winter that has left the roads in rough shape. garden state has unveiled tool to get the roads ready for spring. it is the pothole killer, they call it, new jersey rents 13 of these at this time of the year. now there is year the dot has increased pop hole repair budget by 25%. >> anybody who travels roads now that it has take answer beating, because they need to get on this right away. >> when you do call 1800 about the holes. that's 1800-pot-holes. >> and we're happy ♪ stopped. that's the one down side, the potholes pop up. 5:36, in business news this morning the next item mcdonald's is putting on its

>> dozens recovering from injuries. some passengers head today philadelphia's 30th street station. three cars jumped the tracks near the virginia border, authorities say they hope to have the tracks cleared later today. >> also, a vigil in north philadelphia last night remembered philadelphia police officer, robert wilson, killed in the line of duty last week. so far there are no funeral plans. two men are charged in officer wilson says murder. >> the university of oklahoma has told members of the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity to pack up their belongings, that's the fraternity caught on camera during racist chant. the university is considering pelling members of the fraternity. >> chuckie cheese, supposed to be fun place for kids, right? some parent got a little out of control at this ohio location over the weekend. all over a game that wasn't working. customer followed a manager into the kitchen then attack him after a woman with a birthday party was told she would have to wait to use a broken photo boost. other workers then came to help their colleagues.

warmth we had yesterday, easy to think spring is here, not talking ice, anything like, that but talking about temperatures like 30 degrees, thanks to jack in ziegler ville, temperatures generally below freezing, 31 degrees from ed connor chesterfield, new jersey, these are temperatures that can support ice. watch out for those isolated icy spots. slight amount of ice and snow remaining, not in the sun rain will be welcome. that's right. talking some more melting snow with the rain that's moving in. later today. even down in delaware looking at temperatures in the 20 he's. >> hopefully the rain will wash away the road salt and remaining snow. think it will. a lot of rain, mile air moving in with the system as well. big shield of precipitation over portions every kentucky into tennessee. still far from us. see kind of the real estate. here is the storm. and of course here's where we r it will take its time lifting in. so it doesn't look lick it will get here any time before temperatures go above freezing, so we look like we're going to not be dealing with any freezing rain any
