"eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson bass there. >> reporter: it has taken more than half a year for this one walk. >> do you have anything to say. >> reporter: tuesday 29 year-old janssen walk in the courtroom in chester county. he was arraigned for vehicular homicide among a list of charges related to reckless and negligent driving. >> things can happen and change in the blink of the the eye. there is in where to go. >> reporter: janssen was driving a tractor trailer west on the pennsylvania turnpike, in the early hours of june 1 of last year. police say he entered a closed road and work zone near mile marker 314. he then lost control hitting two turnpike maintenance workers. one of the men was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. sixty-one year-old william died at the scene. the prosecutor, charles gaza, said accident was preventable if janssen would have paid more attention. >> it was avoidable. impatients is what caused this death. >> reporter: after the arraignment gaza made it clear that janssen has been

a shooting that injured a philadelphia police officer. officer edward davies was shot and seriously wounded as he struggled with torres during a traffic stop in august of 2013. the jury found torres guilty of aggravated a assault, plus weapons and drug offenses. officer davies was in court, he spoke with "eyewitness news" about the the verdict. >> i don't want to get too much into it. just a little drained right new, i'm hurting i just want to go home and relax with the family. i have no idea. i till got a couple more things with procedures and surgeries. figure it the out after that. >> torres faces up to 40 years in prison for that assault conviction. once amtrak warned a truck was stuck on the tracks as a philadelphia bound train approached. coming up here what eyewitnesses say happened in the moments before that train derailed, injuring dozens of people. kathy? chris, lot of green on this screen we are looking at our storm scan three showing heavy rain moving along the

merion montgomery county, businesses rather are checking their money carefully. >> police are searching for a suspect in the bold counterfeit money scam. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones has the the details. >> reporter: at least $2,200 in counterfeit cash was floating around lower merion going back to friday, much of it used here at this apple store in suburban square. lower merion police say on sunday a suspect used 20 counterfeit, $100 bills to buy a gift card. >> that is what it should look like. >> reporter: two months ago ardmore florist wally says a customer used a fake hundred dollar bill to try to buy a 20-dollar floral arrangement. the customer ran off when he and his wife became suspicious. his bank used a counterfeit pen on the fake bill. >> it should swipe yellow. >> reporter: similar scam was used in the counterfeiting episode on friday at this dsw off wynnewood road some one used a fake bill to buy a pair of $20 sandals. that was just one of two scams that day in the same shopping

center. on friday, according to police a man walk in the bed bath and beyond and use five, counterfeit 20-dollar bills to buy a piece of electronic equipment. two days later he tried to return to it get real cash but police were able to id him and charges are pending. police are working to see if they are related. there are different suspect descriptions involved. harry althouse says he hold a 20-dollar bill up to the light. if he sees that dark line there in between the numbers it is an indication that the money is real. >> i never like to see people get other businesses or anybody get ripped off. >> reporter: police are concerned other businesses may have been victimized and they are warning owners to be on the look out n lower merion, todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". the the cbs-3 pothole patrol is busy around the region. philadelphia's streets department crews repair potholes on girard avenue today, the rough winter left some roads in pretty bad shape out there and crews have

jason is saying yes rain still falling at a steady pace. we are looking at conditions on the area road that are slow go. lets take you to the mobile weather land live at route 76 west in the manayunk area. you can see it is a very slow go. just crawling as we head toward the suburbs. you can see windshield wipers getting a work out and area of fog developing creating poor visibility on area road even in the city of philadelphia. if you are going out this evening this is what you will encounter and waiting for someone to get home it will take longer tonight. storm scan three we are seeing pockets of heavier rain highlighted in dark green and yellow. some right here in gloucester county northern camden county and suburbs on 76, the northeast extension, even the blue route, pockets of heavier rain through cherry hill seven three, route 70 and down 295. there is really no way to escape this this evening. still holding on to 51 in the

city, 43 allentown. forty-six in reading. we have dense fog. the visibility only a mile in reading, zero in lancaster. the look at philadelphia and wilmington this just happened with visibility a mile and a half and will continue to be reduced overnight. once the rain is gone overnight the fog will continue. you do have that warm, moist air, over a snow pack to the north and west. look at these future visability. come tomorrow morning about a half a mile in the city, zero in many locations, and close to a couple miles in wilmington. so some dense fog in the morning and wilt take until 10:00 a.m. for everyone to see drying conditions and the sun getting rid of the fog. after that we will warm it up beautifully, wednesday afternoon will be gorgeous, with temperatures climbing into the 60's, something we have in the seen since last year. thursday looks nice, partly sunny skies, highs in the 50's. our next system take a run at it by friday g news rain free day with temperatures approaching 50. the rain hold off until friday night. overnight hoe of 41 with areas of dense fog developing. tomorrow's high temperature
