look for the shooters. natasha? >> reporter: well, police tell us as many as nine shots were fired during this drive by shooting in southwest philadelphia and two little girls found themselves dodging bullets not meant for them. for these four and six-year-old little girls an innocent evening in front of the television is shattered by bullets crashing through their grandmother's window right over their heads. >> you guys okay? yes. >> reporter: debra evans was upstairs when she her the gut wrenching screams of her granddaughter. >> bullet came straight through the window. they hollered, the scream was devastating. the way they screamed iran downstairs. they ducked and then they got up and they ran and in in the kitchen and hid behind the refrigerator. >> reporter: police were scowering the neighbor just after 7:00 looking for witnesses to a shooting that began in the 2500 block of millick street. shooters aiming at two men sitting outside but their bullets have no boundaries. >> it's very volatile at this

point. we're looking for neighbor's help. anyone has information at this point we can't allow our children in the city sitting in homes on beautiful days and bullets crashing through their windows. >> it uld happen to me. could it happen to him. any of us sitting out here. >> reporter: neighbors are rattled by the second shooting in as many days along the 6,000 block of elmwood avenue. the daily violence prompting debra to teach her two kids the unimage able how to dodge bullets at a young age. >> devastating. >> i always tell my grandchildren when something happened we duck and we keep it moving. you know, and that's how i told them. that's exactly what they did. it saved their lives. >> reporter: well right now police have just a vague description of a white car scene leaving this scene. they do however believe there were a number of witnesses possibly in this neighborhood. it was a warm evening here on a wednesday evening and they do believe that several people were

out and about at this time. so they're asking anyone who has any information to please come forward. we're live here at southwest detectives tonight natasha brown, cbs3 "eyewitness news". natasha, thank you. breaking news right now a missing philadelphia boy was just found. 10-year-old james jones jr. was found tonight by septa police on a trolley near 75th and lansdowne. jones, jr. never came home from john marshall elementary school in philadelphia today. he is now on his way home. the video game chain game stop is making a large donation to the family of slain philadelphia police officer robert wilson iii. "eyewitness news" at 54th and locust tonight where members of the community gathered for a prayer vigil to remember officer wilson in his cobbs creek neighbor. the veteran officer and father of two was shot and killed inside a game stop in north philadelphia on thursday. he had stopped in to buy his son a video game when two brothers walked in and tried to rob the

store. game stop executives visited fop headquarters today. >> very easily easily could have ducked by a pillar but he stayed in the gun fight and she realize that and protected their associates and they wanted to give something back. >> to do what he did it goes beyond understanding but it take a brief man and i think it takes a very spiritual prayer full man man. >> game stop is also setting up donation jars in its stores up and down the east coast. proceeds from that will go to officer wilson's memorial fund. a 17-year-old student is now facing murder charges after police say the gun he was playing with went off and killed his friend. that shooting happened inside a home on susquehanna avenue in kensington thursday. police say 17-year-old ivan was playing with a gun he told police he found on the street. it went off shooting james becker once in the stomach. today the victim's father talk

"eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco joins us live from septa headquarters with more on these ads that have left a lot of people upset. diana? >> reporter: chris these ads may still be at the very least a few weeks or months away and while they may be shocking, tonight a judge has ruled they are not unconstitutional. you may not see them now but soon anti islamic ads like these could be coming to septa buses

near you. a philadelphia judge sided with the new hampshire based group running the ad that likens adolph hitler to muslims. >> these ads are false and hateful, but the first amendment protects falls hateful speech along with good speech. >> reporter: ryan cooper from the council on american islamic relations says they can't stop the ads but they can educate the community. >> we have 32 major religious leader who's have come together to condemn these ads. >> reporter: the judge says buses are public space and septa has been ordered to run the ads paid for by the american freedom defense initiative citing freedom speech. the ads include images of adolph hitler and read islamic jew hate tread it's in the quran. septa who initiately refused to run the ads says it disparages disparages muslims. while respect the court's decision we're disappointed. an attorney representing the american freedom defense initiative responded. >> there's too much political correctness going on particularly what's going on in the mill east and my client she

an apology along with the parents of a second student. two students have been expelled from the university. tonight embattled police chief tom jackson resigned from the ferguson police dem much this comes in the wake of a scathing report in which the justice department found a pattern of racial bias within the department. protesters have been calling for jackson's resignation since the fatal police shooting of unarmed teenager michael brown last summer. city officials called this resignation a mutual decision. >> the city of ferguson looks to become an example how a community can move for in the face of adversities. we are committed to keeping keeping our police department and having one that exhibits the highest degree of professionalism and fairness. >> ferguson city manager and municipal judge have resign this week a city clerk has been fired fired. the personal and political future of pennsylvania's attorney general kathleen kane is in the hands of the supreme court tonight. her attorney today hoped to

convince the state's five justices that a special prosecutor investigating kane for leaking confidential grand jury information was improperly appointed. a grand jury formed by that special prosecutor recommended criminal charges against kane. are you eager to hear what the court will say? >> yes we're going to let the court make their own decision and cautiously hopeful. >> now if the justices rule against kane, all eyes will turn to the montgomery county district attorney risa vet free ferman. she would decide if the charges recommended by the grand jury would be filed against the attorney general. new tonight head football coach at haverford high school is sentenced to up to six months at county prison. joseph gallagher was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in prison. he pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence and failing to stop and render aid. 59-year-old from aston was charged after fleeing the scene of an accident at lincoln and fourth avenues in prospect park back in november. the eagles head coach chip

national guard members were on board. the national weather service has issued a dense fog advisory at the time of the crash. visibility was said to be 2 miles or less. well tonight a father is all smiles as he holds what he calls his miracle child baby lilly. this 18 month old was released from salt lake city hospital today after surviving a car crash that killed her mother on friday night. that little girl was founding upside down inside the car after it flipped into air riff. investigators believe she was inside for 14 hours until that car was finally found by a fisherman. secret service is facing another serious investigation. two senior secret service are accused of crashing a car into a white house security barrier on march 4th. the washington post is reporting this happened following a night of drinking and one of the agents involved in the second in command on president obama's security detail. the department of homeland

chip kelly and the eagles still at it. reports say demarco murray from the cowboys will visit on sunday sunday. they have signed running back ryan matthews from the chargers and today was the first time chip kelly talked after he took over player personnel duties from howie roseman earlier this season. chip says, he and howie have no problems. >> we have a great working relationship just like i do with everybody else in this building and howie the same thing he'll tell you i'll physical you. we're trying to win a championship here and what's the best way we can to win a championship and he's been outstanding with trying to provide us way lot of resources. he's done a wonderful job with the cap. i'm excited to work with him. >> walter thurman of the giants will joy see hawk byron mack well. maxwell was the highest rate rated cornerback in the free agent class and he wants to mentor the younger players. >> experience only help.
