we start with breaking news in ferguson missouri where anti police protest turn violent overnight. >> two police officers were shot, our nicole brewer is following the violence and she joins us with the latest information on this, nicole. >> a 41 year-old police officer was struck in the shoulder, another cop 32 from wester grove, missouri was shot the in the face. both were hospitalized and are conscious after shots rang out shortly after midnight. this happened during a demonstration surrounding the resignation of the ferguson's embattled police chief wednesday night. what began as a celebration of his departure became a violent chaotic scene lets take a listen. >> they saw, the fire from the gun, a atop of the street. so we are all just down and.

for more details jan, good morning. >> reporter: ukee, good morning. the as you can sianni probably hear on the scene crews are working very hard to get a fix in place. the goal this morning toys get this stretch of road reopened before the morning rush. now cannon avenue is a fairly busy road just off of main street here in lansdale. police want to get everything up and running before traffic picks up. at one point police were estimating this work could continue through the morning but crews say they are making progress and they hope to complete work in a couple hours. this 6-inch break happened around midnight here on cannon avenue in lansdale montgomery county, and northern water authority has been working throughout the the night. the a as they work cannon avenue between main and second streets is closed. i'm told workers are getting replacement pipe right now and once that is in place they will get this covered up and road reopened, hopefully they say, by 6:00 a.m. but at this point as you can see back out here live on the scene cannon avenue is still closed the.

you cap see there are some homes in this area but good news is there are no reports of any customers impacted by this break but this crew is working really hard. they are making great progress and hopes to have this road reopened very soon. reporting live from lansdale, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new this morning a fire rips through a chinese take out restaurant in north philadelphia fire fighters arrived in the 2700 block of north broad street shortly after midnight. now, it didn't take long to get that fire under control, no one was injured in the blaze. in southwest philadelphia, police are looking for the person who fired three shots in the home sending children running for cover. luckily no one was hurt. police scoured the neighborhood around the 2500 block of millick street looking for witnesses. the investigators say intended targets were two men sitting outside. a viewing is scheduled this evening for a teenager who died in what philadelphia police called an accidental

shooting. the it happened inside a home on susquehanna home in kensington last week. police say 17 year-old ivan overhalter was playing with the gun he told police he found on the street. it went off, hitting james becker once in the stomach. political and community leaders will hold a vigil in west philadelphia tonight to honor slain police officer robert wilson the third. his neighbors in cobbs creek came together for a prayer vigil last night. they sang and delivered word of comfort for one another over the tragedy. the officer wilson's next door neighbor told "eyewitness news" why she organized the the event. >> i didn't want have to have it where he died at because he lived here. i thought that the community should definitely show appreciation. >> he is a part of our community. he is a part of our block. we also know he was a policeman but he was a low key person, a good person. >> reporter: officer wilson was killed during a gun battle with a armed robbery suspect,
