"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us from police headquarters with the latest on this investigation. jan, good morning. >> reporter: ukee, erika good morning. police say this was the victim's routine. he went out for nightly walk had his dog usually the same time, same place usually with his daughter. but last night he was alone and someone took advantage. >> police say he was left in the street to die.

just out for a walk with his dog on thursday night this 51 year old shooting victim was found unconscious with his flashlight in one hand, his dog's leash in the other. >> lake next to him was his dog. not injured just seemed to be very scared, shaken. >> the deadly shooting happened here in the 6400 block of woodcrest avenue in the overbrook section of the city. around 8:30, police were called to the scene after someone heard a gunshot. the victim, was found in the street and rushed to the hospital, shot once in the chest. he was pronounced dead short time later. investigators say this is an unusual scene for overbrook. >> you are walking around this neighborhood relatively safe neighborhood, not much crime goes on in this particular area. >> and the outcome could have been worse. had the victim's daughter joined him for his nightly dog walk. usually the routine. >> fortunately his daughter wasn't with him tonight out here. just a tragic incident. looking for anybody who has information to contact our tip line at 215-686-tips. at this time police do believe the motive for this

winds not how long this morning. we take a look at 76 again westbound at henderson road, westbound looking good even eastbound as well. i'm sure that will pick up, though, and the next hour or so as we approach the prime time rush hour into new jersey, we go, 42 freeway both directions, no problems, headlights are moving northbound toward the city. but no backups to talk about as we speak just yet. as meteorologist you love radar. for traffic i love this man. see the green area, arrows that is good, speed limit 55 miles per hour, 295 and the turnpike, little slower coming in at 59. hey, we'll take it on this friday morning. the overturned accident in plymouth township on germantown pike has been cleared. we have downed polls to deal with. there are lane restrictions on germantown pike. the alternate is east twp. line road. of course, the off ramp to 291, exit ten on 95 northbound, that's closed, that could be a two week project. the alternate island avenue.

lived and found his calling. >> sealing the support from everyone, it helps it helps. it really helps just the support and the love shown and just knowing that my brother he touched everyone just as much as he touched us. >> i knew him as child because he lived on my block. and i'm really so sorry for the family. and i give all my respect to all the officers that's out here. >> last thursday the 30 year old father of two lost his life succumb to go gunshot wounds suffered in a shoot-out with two armed men at this north philly game stop. >> i think it is horrible. i think it is absolutely horrible. >> wilson, police say, was in the store in uniform buying a gift for his son and then found himself foiling an armed robbery attempt by brother ramon williams, carlton hip now facing murder charges. back at the vigil in the crowd of candlelight, a thank you for the risk wilson and other officers take onto defend the city every day. >> i respect what he did. and i respect him as a police officer. and i know that there are a lot of good officers out here.

our friday is looking pretty good. lucky despite the fact it is friday the 13th, the rain will hold off until the overnight hours. it is really going to be a saturday system coming in generally right around midnight. so, for your friday, we're going to enjoy some pretty nice weather. now, the clouds will thicken by afternoon. it will be sunny beautiful start to the morning. that said, looking out at center city, looks clear looks dry you'll need the heavier coat this morning. we've gotten used to temperatures in the 40's to start the day not so today. temps will be down below freezing across the entire area by the time we see that sun come up. storm scan3, sweeping the area, not finding anything at all. because all of the rain still way down to the south, you can see, a lot of it, though, it lifts in from the southwest tan will move across the area again generally during the day tomorrow. the steadiest of the rain from about midnight tonight until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. i think the heaviest will be in the morning tomorrow. then some scattered showers through the afternoon and

problems heading in and out of the city. area speeds, across the region, look pretty good again the schuylkill expressway in and out, coming in around 55 miles per hour, you don't see any red showing up yet this morning. so, traffic is looking good, 55 miles per hour on 95, and up to 65 on 295 and the jersey turnpike. we did have that accident in plymouth township on germantown pike, it is cleared, but still dealing with some lane restrictions, due to downed power pole. that is a look at your ride this morning erika back to you. >> thanks, justin. tensions running high in ferguson missouri after two police officers were shot during a protest early thursday morning. >> demonstrators marched last night calling for the resignation of the city's mayor. candlelight vigil was also held to honor the two officers. this is the latest violence in a city torn by racial tensions after the police shooting every unarmed teen, michael brown. search is still on for the gunman.
