>> reporter: a. >> goods morning, he would walk his dog same place same time, usually when his daughter. last night he was alone and someone took advantage. police say he was left in the street to die. just out for a walk with his dog on thursday night, 51 year old shooting victim found unconscious, with his flashlight, in one hand, and his dog's leash in the other. >> just seem to be very scared, shake glenn deadly shooting happened here in the 6400 block of woodcrest avenue, in the overbrook section of the city. around 8:30, police were called to the scene after someone heard a gunshot. the victim, found in the street, and rushed to the hospital, shot once in the chest. he was pronounced dead, short time later. investigators say this is an unusual scene for overbrook. >> walking around this neighborhood relatively safe neighborhood. not much crime. >> it could have been worse had his daughter joined him. usually the routine. >> his daughter wasn't with

killed by a classmate. he shot and killed 17 year old james becker, thursday afternoon. he was playing with a gun he found on the street in his neighborhood. police say he thought the gun was empty at the time. becker's funeral scheduled for 10:00 this morning at saint ann's church lehigh avenue. >> 2,000 philadelphia families can afford to send their children to better schools this morning. parents learned last night that they won scholarships from the children's scholarship fund every philadelphia. future. and he was pretty psched to see her reaction as well. >> i want my son to have the best education possible. i want him to have a place where he can enjoy being a little kid being nurtured, good foundation, a good structure. >> make me proud it make my mommy proud of me. >> we have seen the difference that these scholarships have made. i have been here 13 years children's scholarship fund. i'm even seeing some college graduates that come back and visit us. there is nothing better. >> "eyewitness news" was also at the call center on thursday, in all that program, which is funded by private donations and corporate sponsorship serves about 5,000 low income children enrolled at over 185 private and parochial schools. now, we should mention not everyone gets that call, but they are hoping for the largest provider of k through eight asked airships in pennsylvania, the program is forced to turn away more than 7,000 children every year. >> from the cbs-3 satellite

firefighters on the scene of condo fire in lehigh county. on 2900 block of village walk drive in macungie. so far no reported injuries, but you can see a lot of damage there mostly to the rear of that billing but firefighters on the scene. we're told flames broke out just before 5:00.

police headquarters with the latest information. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning, that's right. police are searching for a killer this morning suspect shot 51 year old man and left him to die in the middle of the street with his dog by his side. very unusual area for something like this to happen. this robbery homicide, happened in the overbrook section of the city, just after 8:30 last night. police responded woodcrest avenue for shots fired call, when they arrived police found 51 year old man unconscious in the street. police believe he was walking his dog at the time of the attack, that dog tied with the victim. the 51 year old man was taken to the hospital, pronounced dead short time later. police say the victim walked his dog in the area same time every night. his daughter usually walked with him well, last night he was alone of the take a listen

cash. also transferred bombs from their honda to his mercedes suv. and in his only television last year, i told cbs news he had no idea he was carjack by the boston marathon bombing suspects. >> i was totally shocked. i was like what's this? what is this? i thought. >> he said tamerlan dzhokhar said they were responsible for the attacks, stopped at a gas station, that's when he made the move, ran into the store pleading to call police. the dow dow's did get away, but he led authorities to one. suspect by revealing his car had gps tracking, it ends the in the shoot-out that killed tamerlan dzhokhar. incredible pictures, thankfully mang lived to tell that story. >> incredible video nicole, thank you. the university of oklahoma fraternity that was disbands dollars for a racist chant is considering suing the school

now. the university shut down the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity annex pelted two members after a video surfaced showing them using a racial slur. now, the fraternity brother have hired a lawyer. they complained the university labeled everyone in the fraternity as racist. and, we have some new video here of the oklahoma football team responding to a scandal with silent protest. they marched on to the field arm in arm, and stood therefore several minutes instead of practicing. the team also called on other leaders at the fraternity to be disciplined. >> many new jersey students now taking a standardized test that's become hot topic with teachers and parents. it is called the park exam it, or the partnership foray zestment of readiness for college and carreers. a number of groups oppose the test, at the say, it is not appropriate to judge teachers and students based on the results. some student rent even opting out of taking it. but now the state says schools where student skip the tests
