winds that will be cranking up today. that will dry any puddle out. it will just be windy today. but still not bad day at all for parade. ben franklin bridge, looks okay and the skies above couple of clouds there as we move on to the shore, you can see, pretty start to the day in ocean city. and the bore walk there is still drying out. but with the winds, you will be getting at the shore and every other location, that's going to be happening pretty soon. and then as we head out to the reading area, it looks okay. and you're even getting rid of some of the piles of snow and the temperatures will continue to be able to let you do. that will so, fairly nice start to the day. i think it is just going to be the winds we'll be noticing all day long. storm scan three showing the storm system to the north pulling away, that's it for us. but we've got few clouds out there right now, we find some breaks in the clouds, few more coming in, so that kind of day today with variable sky conditions. 44 degrees, the present temperature in philadelphia, we have 40 in trenton, 42 in wilmington, this is not a bad start to the day with temperatures as high as they are. and we'll get them little bit

higher, as well, with the winds, though it, will feel cooler. 12-mile per hour winds right now in philadelphia, but these winds can be gusting as high as 40 miles an hour today. temperatures get to go about that 50 degrees mark, still a nice looking day coming up. perfect for a parade, perfect to get outside but before the wind really start get those garbage cans in, do whatever you need to do so your neighbors don't ends up with t if they have something nice, then maybe you'll end one it in your yard. nick snow. >> carol, thank you. new this morning, a woman is returned to the hospital after her car hits a tree and overturns in philadelphia's lawncrest neighborhood. it happened in the inner lanes of roosevelt boulevard at somerdale avenue around 3:30, no word on right now on her condition. investigators are checking in to see if speed played a role in the crash. also new this morning, pick-up truck crashes into a home in aston, delaware county. it happened just before 1:00 in the 400 block of hidden valley road. now, no one inside that home was injured. the driver and passenger were

taken into custody. well honoring a fallen hero. thousands remember officer robert wilson iii he was killed in the line every duty during a robbery attempt at game stop earlier this morning. his nine year olson at this game stop in north philadelphia. inside by himself he fought with two armed robbers drawing fire away from pray tons using his very last breath to save other. >> he laid down his life for people in that store. >> inside the palestra saturday afternoon, tributes from those who witnessed his heroism. >> i've been in policing for 46 years and i have never witnessed an act of bravery like i saw that day. >> wilson's friends, fellow officers remember that warm smile and caring nature, making declarations to the family he left behind, and the one they now join. >> i'll always be there for you, just as i know robert does for my family. >> and as the pipes sounded for that final farewell, officer wilson would leave promote today sergeant,

from the people working here, like no, no, and it was literally 90 miles an hour going reverse. i'm still shaking and i just turn around car gent flew right back in the gate. i just literally like dove. >> the four women inside the car were taken to the hospital. no word yet on their conditions. >> a woman in seaside heights new jersey is recovering after she was caught in a home explosion. now, according to police, that blast happened just after 10:00 o'clock saturday morning, on the first floor of the summer avenue home. the 26 year old woman was on the second floor. she was brought to the hospital for evaluation, with minor injuries, the cause of the blast is being investigated. >> inspectors trying to figure out what caused building collapses in philadelphia. first one happened earl saturday morning in kensington at this home on the 2700 block of emerald street. firefighters rescued a 43 year old resident from the rubble. now, he was hospitalized, and is expected to recover. the renmant that far property will have to be demolished.

now, the second partial collapse was in south philadelphia, on the 700 block of south street. you can see these bricks fell off the front of the building on saturday, right above a domino's pizza. now, fortunately, no one happened to be walking on that part of the sidewalk at that time. it is not clear yet what caused those bricks to fall. well, happening today the annual saint patrick's day parade in center city. thousands representing their irish heritage will par tate in the festivities. cherry gregg from our sister station "kyw news radio" 1006 is live along the parade route with a preview of what you can expect, good morning! >> reporter: good morning, nicole. of course you can expect lots of green and the official green for saint patrick's day of course; kelly green. and i'm here at 16th and jfk. the starting point for today's parade were 20,000 people are expected to gather along the route. it will start right here. it will go down the ben franklin parkway around the

conditions today. >> i want to show you how pretty the sunrise at the shore. absolutely gorgeous, look at that as the sun just goes above the horizon and just beautiful start. perfect halo. if i can -- limbo lower now. but yes just a beautiful looking day starting. but few clouds, and i think you will find that, also, what you will be finding out there is the wind. wind will be extreme. right now the palmyra cove nature park says the winds are out of the west about 1 mile an hour, 4 miles an hour, and we could be adding a zero to that four. winds could gust as high as 40 miles an hour as we go through the day today. we've got 44 in philadelphia, 40 in trenton, 42 in wilmington, 43 down in millville, 41 in allentown temperatures are mild at this point in the morning. the winds are starting to pick up. they are about 12 miles an hour through philadelphia, we just added 2 miles an hour to that from the last hour. and, they are starting get little gusty up in the poconos.

and that will continue throughout the day. and in fact it will continue everywhere. one storm system, the rain make fresh yesterday, is gone. high pressure builds in. it is kind of invisible but you'll feel it, because of the winds funneling between these two systems. clouds are out there right now, few of them, but we find some breaks, as women, later this afternoon, few more clouds. temperatures in the 50's today. just barely, though. and it will feel cooler than that because of the winds as strong as they will be. then tomorrow, looks nice. the winds machine shuts off. the temperatures crank up. we should be around 60 degrees tomorrow. this cold front comes through late monday, early tuesday maybe triggering a brief shower overnight early on tuesday morning, otherwise this thing gets out of here and there is colder air that follows from the middle of the week. future weather not much to talk about as we go through the day everybody getting ready for the parade. the streets are dry the winds will be up though so just remember that, extra layer wouldn't hurt. 4:00 this afternoon we see sun, clouds, and then we will be finding conditions tomorrow, starting to warm up,

not vaccinated it can walk into your house and your cat could get it even though your cat never went snout. >> correct. also see a loft inside cats, cats that get fleas. able though they run out have it on the front lawns they're outside, so they can get any of the things they go if running wilds. >> here, so in other words get them vaccinate in the. >> it is wise to vaccinate. better to be safe than sore. >> i right. shear someone whose pet has diabetes, and with dogs, diabetes requires insulin shots. and this person says cannot do it. >> i hate needles, can i not give my dog a shot. >> well i've had over the years fairly common disease in cats and dogs, any number of people have incredible anxiety about giving needles. as long as you teach them the right way i have people come in, they are shaking the first time they give the injection and i tell them in two, three weeks, you won't even think about it, you will go a give

the injection. so not something you're thrilled about, really is pretty easy to learn without freaking out. >> can you prevent diabetes in your pet, if you can how do you do that? >> i think a lot of times it is nothing that you can prevent but high carbohydrate diet would make it easier to get diabetes. certainly medications like cortisone, if they're on it for awhile consideration cause diabetes. >> if your pet is diabetic, how often do you need to take your pet in to get the blood test today make sure you are giving the right amount of inch lynn. >> more often do you it, the better it will be. we have it found sometimes people know their cats once a week witness every two weeks. >> same thing with dogs. >> same, dogs are little easier to monitor than cats. you should be doing it at least every couple of weeks. >> oh,. >> for sure. >> for dogs and cats. >> if they're die diabetic, for sure. it fluctuate the amount of insulin they need on daily basis. >> some people say that we're running out of time.

from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> today is sunday march 15th, good morning to you thanks so much for joining us, i'm nicole brewer. it is just about 7:30 right now. we sends over to carol for more on the forecast today for our saint patrick's day parade. you're saying maybe bring the extra layer in case? >> i think so because of the winds. temperatures will be fine, 50 degrees, not bad at all. but with the winds that we're expecting, as we go through the day out of the northwest chilly direction to begin with, and they're going to be 20, 25 miles an hour, and they do at times gust to 40 miles an hour, maybe not quite that hi through center city, but it will feel like it, it will be hard to tell the difference, so just take extra layer it doesn't hurt. center city philadelphia, you can see the low clouds that we have out there right now.

not the brightest of starts, but it is fairly mild one. where it is bright start look how gorgeous it is, in atlantic city with the sun coming up, reflecting off the water, ocean looks quiet looks gorgeous. and then we head out to the melting snow lands of kutztown. 39 degrees and you can see i guess, doug few wheel i's out on the feel, but there go, looking for that snow to continue to melt over the next couple of days, and for those every us who do not like snow, it is great to see it good bye. storm scan3, to the north, you can see where they are still getting some snow. that's out of our storm system that brought the rain to us, but it is bringing some snow to the north. we will be finding some clouds around here today and some sun breaks, too 44 degrees right now in philadelphia, 40 in trenton 42 degrees in wilmington, 43 millville, 44 in dover everybody pretty consistently in the 40's right now, by noon, we still will be there. by three p.m. and after we get to our high of the day that's going to be around 50 degrees today. again, i keep under scoring this probably sick of hearing

was renamed in his honor. wilson eight year department veteran is the situation tenth police officer killed in the line of duty in the last nine years. well, turning now to the ongoing situation in ferguson, missouri. the manhunt continues for who ever shot and wound the two police officers during a protest last week. now, police say they are following up on more than dozen tips, and have asked a community on edge for their help. craig boswell is in ferguson with the latest. st. louis county police chief says the search for suspects is a priority. >> can i not tell you at this point that arrest is imminent. certainly nobody in custody. >> tips, including one that led police to search a home just blocks from the ferguson police department, turned up nothing. the two officers shot outside the department early thursday are now recovering at home. one of them with a bullet still lodged near his ear. >> ♪ ♪ >> clergy, community members, comdemn the violence, praying for peace during a candlelight

vigil the night after the shooting. just down the street, as protesters gathered, officers were keeping their distance, and no visible riot gear. a noticeable difference from the response to demonstrators after the shooting of un arm black teenager, michael brown by white police officer darren wilson, last summer. >> now, months later glimpse of reconciliation, as some reforms take place. six employees including the police chief have resigned or been fired since the justice department report found widespread racial bias in the police force. demonstrators want the mayor to step down, and many told me they want the police department disolved. the police chief did say friday that the county in talks to take over the department, but no contract written or assigned. in ferguson missouri, craig boswell, cbs news. a funeral services were held saturday for 19 year old tony robinson killed during a

officer involved shooting in wisconsin. more than a thousand mourners packed his high school in madison. robinson was shot and killed march 6th. people from all walks of life, culture, religion, attended the services. some never met robinson. other new him from his childhood. >> could you just see the kid in him and his aunts and that was really nice. i think those things need to be shown that he was a real person and 'd real soft side. >> i just remember him playing with all of the kid. he was the biggest kid, so he would pick them up. >> reporter: police say robinson, unarmed, assaulted the office here then drew his weapon and fired. the shooting is under investigation by the department of justice. police have released body camera footage showing the dramatic rescue of a 18 month old utah girl more than a week ago. this is an incredible story. she was strapped into her carseat hanging upside down as icy water flowed through the car for 14 hours before she was found. first responders pulled lilly out and she was car toyed waiting ambulance.

now, once inside a officer patted her on the back and that's when she began showing signs of life. again, just incredible. lilly was released from the hospital wednesday and was not seriously injured. her mother, unfortunately died in that crash. well, just scary moments after united flight landed on blown tire in denver saturday. see that tire just come apart there. passengers of course cheering when that plane came safer throw a halt. the united flight was headed to can as city and forced to turn around for that emergency landing shortly after take off. well wedding bells are ringing for sarah pail inch's daughter bristol palin is now engaged. the daughter of the former alaska governor is set to marry former us marine and metal of honor recipient dakota meyer. the pair announced the engagement on social media. she has six year old son with lehigh johnson former fiancee. no words yet on a wedding date. 7:35, still to come on "eyewitness news" a

patrick's parade. it all began in 1771 here in philadelphia making philadelphia's st. patrick's parade the second oldest in the nation. now, 20,000 people will gather here wearing their spring/clover green. they'll gather here and of course the parade route goes from 16th and jfk down the parkway, the performance area is near 23rd street, and then the parade continues around eakins oval to the art museum. there, 150 groups are expected to take part. there is going to be marching bands, dance groups, floats, flags and all sorts of green taking place all along the park way. the parade begins around noon. live coverage will be on the "cw philly" at 1:00 p.m. and back out here live, let me tell you couple of little fun facts about st. patrick's day. first of all the official

mover inland, and the temperatures are in the 40's. forty-three in millville. forty-four in philadelphia, 40 in trenton, 42 wilmington, 41 allentown, it wasn't so long ago, that these temperatures would have looked like a tropical paradise to us. and i think as we get to mid-week, when the temperatures drop below freezing again that this will look pretty warm to start the morning. but we've got it this morning. we will enjoy it, hang onto it, one storm system gone, that was the one yesterday and few clouds, still remaining, and then as i've been saying all morning long, it is the wind you'll remember today t comes funneling down out of the northwest especially, as we get toward the afternoon hours and that's going to be making these temperatures that get to 50 degrees today feel probably colder than, that i suggest that nicole take extra layer when on the float. today in the parade, and probably great idea for everybody else. so temperatures around 50 degrees, with the wind, undoubtedly feeling colder than that. tomorrow though, look at this just in time for you to go back to work and schoolment isn't that great of the
