melt and you can find refreeze in spots. just be careful. thirty-two in philadelphia. thirty-three wilmington. thirty-two in dover, millville and atlantic city. 34 degrees in wildwood at this point. the as we move to the shore areas it is temperatures right around freezing mark with precipitation coming up. even with temperatures slightly above freezing it is falling on some snow down there and that can be like a layer of water on ice. the winter weather advisory as a result until 7:00 o'clock areas in purple that is the entire state, just about of new jersey but certainly our portion of it. our temperatures today getting to 50 degrees so it is first day of spring and should be, our temperatures should been 54 degrees but it is taking a little while for these temperatures to warm up. looking at the future wet ther by 7:00 it should be moving off the coast, temperatures will be right around that freezing mark but be careful out there until we see day or two of the warm up on that seven day forecast that is just ahead, nicole.

>> carol, thanks. new this morning gunfire breaks out on a west philadelphia street injuring two most event people. it happened around midnight at 52nd and spruce street. it is not clear what led to the various police say both men are in stable condition. twenty year-old suspect is now in custody. detectives are working to sort out that motive. philadelphia's l and i officials will return to the scene of the partial building collapse later this morning. "eyewitness news" at 4900 block of kingsessing a avenue. we are told a portion of the homes rear wall came down just after 12:30. no one was injured but as you can see there was a good deal have of damage left behind there. and developing right now shots are fired inside of new orleans international airport. police say a man a attack security guards as he charged through the terminal. cbs news correspondent terry okita has latest details from overnight. >> reporter: police and rescue crews flooded new orleans armstrong international

airport friday night after a man reportedly attack security agents inside. the the the jefferson parish sheriff says that a man sprayed a can of wasp spray at a security guard in the airport's concourse b, the at around 8:00 o'clock central time. he then sprayed two or guard and began attacking one with the machete. >> this guy comes running with the machete over his head swinging it through security and then hops a bench and comes toward my wife and i and i started swinging my suitcase at him and he runs in the tsa agent. >> reporter: one of the guard called a non-tsa officer for help. that officer opened fire hitting the suspect identified as six three-year old richard white of kenner louisiana. >> that officer fired three times hitting the perpetrator once in the left chest, the left facial area, and the left thigh. >> reporter: eyewitness video shows several people being treated for injuries inside of the airport.

none is reported to be life threatening. the security checkpoint was shut down and tsa says an officer was taken to the hospital. no word on the condition of the suspect. terry okita for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> we are learning new details about a tragic story in new york city where an overnight fire has left seven children dead and two others critically injured. this is brand new video that happened shortly after midnight in the mid land section of the brooklyn. fire officials say children range from five years old to 15. they are believed to be family members. eyewitnesses describe a scene with the children's mother screaming for help as fire fighters arrived. two injured victim are said to be an adult and another child. more than a hundred fire fighters for the the flames before gaining the upper hand. the fire's cause remains under investigation at this hour. we're also learning more about a deadly crash in staten island new york that left two people dead. authorities say three off-duty

police officers were going the wrong way on the highway when they crash in the tractor trailer. that driver landed pedro abad leaving pictures on social media showing three shot glasses before that crash. they are testing his blood alcohol level. he was critically injured. two passengers were killed. tractor trailer drivers suffer minor injuries we're toll. abad posted photos showing he was in philadelphia last weekend as a member of the officer robert wilson's honor guard. well, back here in this area police identified the victims of the deadly crash of the atlantic city expressway. this is eyewitness cam video from the westbound lanes in hamilton township. thirty-five year-old sean mcbride and his passenger, gabriel lynn where is killed when the jeep they were driving in lost control and caught fire. a third victim, 38 year-old scott, was struck by the the jeep while he change a flat tire. he is listed in stable condition. the the cause of that crash is being investigated.

now to the latest on the clean up from yesterday's snow, snow shovels got their work out in in moorestown burlington county as resident cleared wet snow and slush from the sidewalks and driveways. heavy equipment made cleaning parking lots easier and a lot easier on route 38. lots of snow there. now to doylestown road were covered with slush and those on foot had to watch where they stepped. kids there had a planned half daze of school but felt more like a snow day. >> i really expect it to be a little warmer then this. >> reporter: what is worst part about all this snow. >> that it gets yucky and mushy. >> now some used this opportunity of the snow to bring home some quick cash by shoveling, our team coverage of the clean up continues with "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco. it was a very long last day of winter mostly spent cleaning up, spring has finally arrived. >> reporter: clean up has started, crews rushed to clear

the struggle to rebuild after hurricane sandy is finally, over for several cape may county families displaced by that storm. they are finally going home. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan was at their emotional home coming celebration. >> reporter: emotions are overwhelming for yolanda boyle years of exile are over and her sandy ravage home is

finally fix. >> the the house will always be here for my kid and my nieces and my grandsons. >> reporter: two and a half years after super storm sandy three ocean city victims can finally enjoy their homes thanks to the catholic charities disaster program and united methodist church's a future with hope. kenny thompson's living room had water up to his chest with sandy and eventually became homeless. >> would i ride back and forth on the patco line and get some coffee. >> reporter: homes damage from sandy sometimes look okay but inside there can be severe rot to walls, floors things that overtime you just cannot live with and that is exactly what happened to these people. >> now a lot more cases are being uncovered where is there mold damage, water damage that wasn't seen, you know, right after the the storms. >> reporter: gloria tried to live in her sandy damaged home for more than a year but became ill from the mold. now thanks to hundreds of volunteers, almost every inch of her downstairs is new. >> i love it here.

with the fact that it is spring but it is still snowing. >> i bought two bottles of wine. >> reporter: was this winter's last gasp? don't be so sure. >> we have seen april snow for sure. we have not seen any in may snow. potentially within more month but i cannot rule it the out. >> reporter: in new york lauren lister for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". enough of snow. our eyewitness weather watchers are up this morning and what are they finding ? we have a 30-degree temperature here. this is what ed connor a has to say and it happens to be my favorite poetry. spring is here the grass is riz, i wonder where flowers is. ed knows better but he is a teacher. where are these flowers? they are buried underneath all that snow. we have another 30-degree temperatures this is what robert stewart is finding in clementon just below freezing but stayed a above or at freezing until will 3:00 this morning. a as we all know by now these

temperatures do start to drop even more, just before sunrise. so we can still fine these temperatures dropping a little bit more and 32-degree temperature, this is down in wilmington and delores lee is saying this morning that after a crazy weather event yesterday, cold calm with a lawn cover in snow. but it will start to melt those of us sick of the look of snow we have some help coming. lets take a look and walk over towards philadelphia, shall we, as this is our look at the palmyra cove nature park at least from that vantage point over the delaware, and right over to the city of philadelphia, notice the temperature of 30-degree. we have pick up almost 4 inches in philadelphia yesterday. there is snow, there is refreeze, be careful out there first thing this morning. temperature of 32 at the airport. thirty-two in wilmington. twenty-nine in trenton. thirty in allentown. thirty-two in millville. thirty-two in atlantic city.

thirty-four in wildwood. i will call your attention to some of the numbers to the north and they are below the freezing mark. doylestown at 28, quakertown at 28, pottstown at 30 degrees. the it is a cold morning out there. snow amounts warminster looks like you just won at 7 inches of snow. skippack 6 inches of snow. sicklerville five and a half. mount laurel 5 inches of snow. new castle in delaware almost 2 inches of snow out of this. everybody got a chance to do some shoveling or we can let that very strong march sun angle will do a lot of the work for us today. storm scan three, it is not totally over yet. there are still areas with precipitation in new jersey, and this is the the reason that we will be watching for that winter weather advisory. the it is light but it is out there and the the slight mist can be enough to really trip you up. so expect until 7:00 o'clock this morning for this winter weather advisory to stay in effect for new jersey. then it should be gone. we should find temperatures

today around 50 degrees. tomorrow they drop back down though because we have a weak front that goes through later today and that will drop our temperatures in the 40's tomorrow and they will get even lower, on monday, the temperatures will be in the lower 40's on monday. so, the cold air even with spring here the cold air is still, still with us. future weather doing, this is a really good representation of what is actually happening. so this computer model figured this one out right and it is right on the target right now, which means it will be fairly right as we go through the next couple of hours. we will put tonight motion. it the is gone by 9:00 o'clock this morning. we are looking at clearing in some spots but precipitation ending. temperatures starting to warm up a little bit. by this afternoon we will get sun, cloud and temperatures get to about 50 degrees. maybe a little bit more than that. notice that brush of green that went by this computer model thinks that some little sprinkle could go by with the front as it comes on through. it is possible. just note that. it doesn't look like a big

deal if something does happen with the passage of that front. then tomorrow we are looking at some sunshine, some clouds and then monday we will get lots of sunshine but the temperatures will be cold. temperatures today not as cold fortunately so we can start to see some of this melty snow with moisture and you know how heavy and wet that was if you did shoveling of that stuff. fifty, 50, 42 for temperatures today. poconos cooler spot at 42 degrees. our wind not that much today. north west to west about 5 miles an hour, with that march sun angle and temperature of 50 degrees, we should be shrinking the snow pile. 32 degrees mostly cloudy but be careful of refreeze because some areas to the north and pine barons can drop below freezing again tonight. tomorrow, 45. monday 42 with sun. tuesday 46 with some sun. wednesday we will finally hit a temperature that we're supposed to be getting this time of the year in the middle 50's. by thursday 62 degrees but we

could be dealing with rain showers. nicole. >> carol thanks. you see a lot have have wild things on the streets of the new york city and on the lower east side there is a little lamb getting a lot of attention. as cindy shoe you from our sister station cbs two reports smokey is becoming quite the star. >> reporter: he is three weeks old. yeah. hi little lamb. meet smokey the lamb who has become quite the the the star. >> it felt kind of biblal, a nativity scene type situation. >> i don't know chill, i love lambs. >> reporter: max seen series the the foster mother born just a few weeks ago at violet hill farm in upstate insuring but was reject by his mother. >> they sense something wrong with them or the runt of the litter, they cannot feed so they get coal this guy was freeze to go death. >> reporter: max seen and her boyfriend took him in at four days old and started caring for him at their apartment. he is now out of diapers because he doesn't like them

but not quite potty train. >> just cleaning a attention cuddling and feeding. >> reporter: he gets formula three times a day. since he goes all over the the place with his foster parents he is a social media sensation. he even has his own hash tag smokey the lamb. max seen says it takes forever to walk anywhere with him. >> everybody stops and asks questions. >> reporter: such as. >> is he a goat, llamas, or kangaroo. >> reporter: he has made some friend along the the way like arthur the dog. >> the first time he sniffed him and could in the stop just to see what he was all about and now it has turn to jealouscy since he gets so much attention now. >> reporter: once smokey is old enough to eat on his own he will head back to the violet hill farm but his new york city parents plan to keep tabs on him and make sure he lives a full life. that means he won't end up being on one's dinner. on the the lower east side, cindy hsu, cbs the news.

arrest for winter, it is enough, we had to beat it back with shovels, scrapers, ice melt and that continues this morning but sun will be helping us later on today and that temperature of 50 degrees. ben franklin bridge area from the campbell's field area it looks like not like the first day of spring. the there is mist and some fog so just be very careful in case your temperatures are below freezing as they are and you are getting that mist or fog in your area because it can lead to icy conditions. we have a temperature of 30 degrees as we take a look at the city of philadelphia across from the delaware river at palmyra cove nature park in new jersey and our storm scan three showing just last little bit of precipitation in new jersey you'll find it scattered around ocean county, monmouth county, burlington county, maybe the tip of cape may, also picking up a very light sprinkle out there but with the temperatures where they are that is why we have until 7:00 o'clock this morning a winter weather

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has details. >> reporter: antonio molina told "eyewitness news" he is still in shock after he found his 18 year-old daughter dead

under a sheet in his bed room. >> just can't take anymore it is a mess. >> reporter: margaret molina was just months from graduating from olney high school. her dad told "eyewitness news" that she plans to go to penn state. molina said his daughter and boyfriend got in the argument thursday night and left. he also left. when he return he began to panic thinking his daughter was still out. >> i was worried. around 1:00 he just could not take it anymore. >> reporter: molina says the 18 year-old's bedroom door was lock and he didn't have the key. after pacing back and forth he took the door off hinges and ran in the bedroom. >> i said my gosh, i screamed everybody came from the whole block. >> reporter: margaret molina was gone she had a head wound and had been strangled. police were on the scene minutes later and began a search for the suspect. neighbors watch the crime scene unfold. >> she was waiting for her prom in may she talk to me

about her prom and she was planning after graduation. >> she was a good girl, yes. >> reporter: as police continued their search molina suspects that the boyfriend had something to do with his daughter's death and he has this message. >> unaudible. >> reporter: margaret planned to be a nurse after graduating, she volunteered at einstein hospital. police have not named any suspects or charged anybody if you have any information, call philadelphia police. reporting from police headquarters david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". all three teenage suspects in the murder of an overbrook man are now behind bars. the as we first reported yesterday morning the the alleged shooter tyfind hamilton surrendered to police. authorities say hamilton and two other teens decided to rob someone after playing basketball nearby. they encountered 51 year old james stohlman who was walking his dog.

stohlman beg for his life but hamilton shot him anyway. his aunt spoke exclusively to "eyewitness news" with the message for the victim's family. >> you have my deepest condolences and this was never meant to happen and i cannot imagine how you guys feel, we apologize for everything. >> he has not been taking his medication and it is not right, you know, what happened. >> hamilton and 15 year-old brandon smith both face murder charges and will be tried as adults. fourteen year-old boy cooperating with police will be tried as a juvenile on lesser charges. now to an "eyewitness news" exclusive an unusual disguise along with high tech detective work helped identify a robbery suspect. investigative reporter walt hunter has that story. >> reporter: police say the frightened clerk inside this a plus mini mart no doubt paid more attention to the gun being pointed at him then to the unusual the hat that the

suspects wore hoping to shield his identity. >> guy walks in the door and sticks a gun in his face and you could hear it, he screamed, he is terrified. >> reporter: police say it was that unusual head gear discarded as suspect raced away down lancaster avenue that ultimately did him in. >> just stood out like a sore thumb. >> reporter: three three-year veteran charles and his crew worked for hours collecting what amounted to a mini clothing store of items including the suspect's jacket and sneakers. but it was the very hat and saliva containing dna that police say led to suspect christopher sinise of aspen being charged. >> while he is talking giving demand, whatever saliva is coming out of his mouth gets on his hat. this basically gave us what we needed at this point. >> reporter: finally the suspect charged with robbing this mini mart almost got away witt. he was only days away from being released from prison on earlier unrelated charges

police say when radnor detectives arrived at his cell and gave him the bad news about the dna match. >> we moved to make sure that he didn't get out and take off to who knows where. >> with the technology that we have today you got to save everything you never necessity when you will need it. >> reporter: radnor commanders say hats off to a veteran cap and dna technology for catching a suspect n wayne, walt hunter, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a former temple university football player faces charges of human trafficking. twenty-five year-old matthew brown was a wide receiver, running back and special teams player from tell from 2009 to 2012. brown and another man were arrested after arranging for paid sex between three under age girls and under cover detective at a baltimore county best western. brown's bond has been set at $75,000. students at the university of virginia asked questions of law enforcement as they deal

with the aftermath of the arrest of marquis johnson. johnson, who was black, was bloodied and injured when he was arrested wednesday by a white alcohol beverage control agent. cbs news correspondent craig boswell reports from charlottesville, virginia. >> black lives matter. >> reporter: university of virginia students streamed out of the campus forum voicing anger and frustration. no cameras were allowed inside where students questioned the the panel of the representatives from the department of justice and several local police departments about the arrest have of marquis johnson and the treatment of black students. >> we had problems at uv a and in charlotteville, licensing before this happened. >> uv a student was bloodied during his arrest wednesday by alcoholic beverage control agents outside an off campus bar. students at the forum asked why incident like this one keep happening to young black men. black student officials here at the university say they are not getting answers, they

repeat thely forcefully questioned why officers are not trained to deescalate conflict. a representative from alcoholic beverage control attended the discussion but did not take questions. thursday johnson's mother, spoke about the arrest. >> i think he was treated like an animal to see his face push in the ground with nobody there to help him. >> reporter: some state lawmakers are questioning whether state liquor control agents should have the authority to arrest people. craig boswell for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, take a look at this an electrical fire on the track shut down the market frankford el in center city last night. flames were captured near 13th treat station around 7:00 o'clock. septa says an insulator caught fire there. in one was injured the causes still being investigated. children of the comedian killed in the new jersey turnpike crash that injured tracie morgan are getting a ten million-dollar settlement from wal-mart. amount was disclosed in court
