competitors for the republican nomination. hours before what was expected to be his official announcement at virginia's liberty university, texas republican ted cruz took to twitter to announce his bid for the white house. >> it's going to take a new generation of krafrmgs conservatives to help make america great again. >> the tweet posted shortly after midnight included this 30-second campaign video with a message to voters. aides say his remarks today will highlight his oratory skills. he delivered a 21-hour-long filibuster on the senate floor in an attempt to de-pfund president obama's health care law. some are blasting his appearance. on nbc's "meet the press" jerry brown called cruz unfit to run, particularly o because of what he called his extreme views on climate change. >> that man betoken such a level

>> reporter: the video comes from the islamic state hacking division. it was released on social media and encourages isis supporters to kill those who are lifted. the terror group claims in the video it was obtained by hacking military databases but the pentagon says it believes the information was publicly available online from news articles and even its own reports about the campaign against isis. the marine korms and air force say they're making sure everyone is notified. they're asking servicemembers to review their online footprint and to make sure privacy settings on social media accounts limit the amount of personal information available. the obama administration says the american-led military operation has blunted the terror groups emil-mentum in iraq and syria but it's still grappling with how to stop the isis propaganda machine.

on sunday john brennan said they're spreading their ideology throughout the region. >> we see what's happening in other countries. they've claimed responsibility for attacks in tunisia and yemen. this is something that clearly is not just rae striekted to iraq and syria. we cannot relent. we have to continue working with our partners in the region. >> military officials have been warning servicemembers for some time to be careful about what they post online so they don't become targets, especially as isis continues to call for lone wolf attacks. julianna goldman cbs news washington. well the u.s. is expanding its efforts to train iraqi forces battling isis. hundreds of advisers are working at a military base just north of baghdad. a u.s.-led air campaign has been targeting isis positions in iraq and syria since august of last year. iraqi armed forces and shiite militias have been trying to retake the northern city of tikrit saddam hussein's

hometown. 125 u.s. military were rescued over the weekend. shiite rebels who back the ousted president seized yemen's third largest city sunday. thousands demonstrated in the streets. they're battling insurgents known as houthis who have taken over a large part of the cost have ousted the government and formally taken power. the u.n. urged both sides to withdraw. afghan's new president afghan will meet with the president in the united states. and the bodies of seven children killed in a new york fire are headed to israel for burial. thousands of people in brooklyn's ultra orthodox jewish community gathered sunday for the funeral. the fire that engulfed their
