this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". good morning developing right now airbag thieves strike again in northeast philadelphia. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now, at the scene, in rhawnhurst with the latest, so frustrating jan good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning there is isn't your typical smash and grab, but it is happening more and more, not only nationwide, but specifically in this neighborhood. this is the second time in one month that thieves have targeted rhawnhurst, targeted honda's, and targeted the airbags inside. not a way you want to wake up in the morning to fine your driver side window smashed out and in some of the cases the airbag ripped right from the steering wheel. but that's what at least five drivers here in this neighborhood are cooling with, this morning. police say, five cars, here in rhawnhurst, were broke mean overnight resulting in the theft of three airbags. cup old of cars were located in the 2,000 block of heartel avenue, others few blocks away where we're located at heart he will and front knack

street all laid million he will hondas. earlier this month, nine late model hondas were broke mean with the airbags stolen in the same area, airbags of course are hot commodity on the black market. according to the national insurance crime bureau, airbag can cost a thousand dollars or more from a legitimate dealer over repair shop. only could the 50 to $200 on the black market, so thieves get pennies to the dollar, but their victims have to pay a hefty price. back out here on scene, we have to replace the airbag and of course they will also have to replace that broken window. so, police are investigating. we've seen quite a few police officers patrolling the area this morning. of course, northeast detective are on this case, as well, and if you have any information please give police a call. we continue to follow this story but for now live in rhawnhurst, jan carabeo cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> new this morning, shooting leaves a man critically injured in philadelphia. it happened on the 900 block of bridge street, in lawncrest. police say that victim was

shot multiple times in the chest. he was returned to einstein medical center in critical condition. there is no word yet on suspect or a motive in this shooting. >> also, new this morning senator ted cruz confirms else in the race for the white house. the texas republicans tweeted his announcement just after midnight. he's the first high profile candidate to formally launch his presidential campaign. more than dozen republicans have expressed serious interest in a white house run. cruz joined the send that the 2013. he has established himself as an uncompromising conservative willing to take on democrats and republicans alike. >> approaching 6:03, katie good morning chilly out there. >> definitely chilly out there, diane a that's how we start the week off here, temperatures remain still at least 10 degrees below their average for the most part, and that does mean you will need to continue to break out your heavy winder coat. even though now according to the astronomical calendar, the meteorological calendar and

at the barber shop 600 block of north preston street in man too a "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch live there this morning outside the 16th police district, with more on the investigation. justin good morning. >> good morning police say about dozen or so people in that barber shop when those shots rang out. and they say that second shooter likely saved lives by acting as quickly as he did but still, they say there is morning, they must investigate to see if charges are warranted in this case or if this was just a case of self-defense. mantua's barber shop spent much of sunday close today customers. but open for crime scene investigators. the shop on the 600 block of north preston street was the scene after argument, turned shooting. >> one of the bathroom ers said shout out. so when i was watching it. v in the barber shop, i heard gunshots, so i ducked, and i ran. >> the gunfire eventually

finished, by shots from another man's gun. >> responded and i guess he saved a lot of people in there. >> just before 3:00 sunday afternoon, police say a second man, who had the legal gun permit, walked into the barber shop, and saw that first shooting taking place. he pulled out his gun and fired, striking his target, that first gunman, then, that second shooter left a scene bound for the 16th district to tell police his story. >> the shooter came in to the 16 district, and said he was the one that was involved. >> and we do know that second shooter spent several hours here at the 16th district, we've not learned his name or the name that far first shooter. we do know that first shooter died of his wounds at the hospital though, sometime yesterday. we are live at the 16th district, justin finch cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. meanwhile, authorities in bucks county investigating after two people are found dead inside their home. that discovery made at the home on limp road in holland.

police not releasing many details at this time. >> police also are saying they may have found the body of a missing woman in a wooded area in east norriton township. police have preliminarilly identified the body as heather tilltelle. last seen last among walking out every einstein medical center on west germantown pike. her family has been notified. the coroner investigating the cause of death. >> manna cured of shooting a 12 year old inside a port richmond home has turned himself in this morning. police say 23 year old jamil carter broke into ex-girlfriend's home on janney street and attack her waking up the woman's 12 year olson. as the boy walked downstairs to see what was happening police say carter shot him in the leg. the boy is in stable condition this morning at st. christopher's hospital. carter now face as list of charges. >> the cause after deadly fire in germantown is under investigation. one person died in the fire on the 4600 block of pull as ski avenue. firefighters found the victim on the second floor of the

building. >> the philadelphia archdioces announce plans to demolish church that dates back to the 19th. saint laurentius churched closed almost a year ago since then, residents shall parishioners, fought to said structure. archdioces said it would costnerly three and a half million dollars to repair the church and would jeopardize the welfare of the parish. demolishing the structure would cost around $1 million. the school is not being closed or sold. 6:08. the villanova men's basketball team is back home this morning, from pittsburgh after they were bounced from the ncaa tournament with a lost saturday night. the number one seeded wildcats returned to campus yesterday. their lost close add lot of brackets in trouble. nova coach jay wright told "eyewitness news" about his squad's disappointing exit from march madness. >> we failed in one game. they are not failures. they had a great season. and but we got to except our

welcome back, happening today, police say they'll release the results of their investigation into alleged gang rape at the university of virginia. rolling stone magazine first published a report last fall, the article pulled the story of a woman who said she was assaulted at fraternity. it sparked outrage first and then controversy after questions were raised over the woman's story. rolling stone ended up and apologize g for discrepancies in the article and for not seeking response from the accused men. thousands join brooklyn father mourning the loss of seven children all killed in a house fire. a funeral was held yesterday for the children, siblings aged five to 15, the fire broke out early saturday morning, and their mother and 15 year old sister, survived.

i guess i never really gave much thought to the acidity in any foods. never thought about the coffee i was drinking having acids. it never dawned on me that it could hurt your teeth. my dentist has told me your enamel is wearing away, and that sounded really scary to me and i was like well can you fix it can you paint it back on and he explained that it was not something that grows back, it's kind of a one-time shot and you have to care for it. he told me to use pronamel. it's gonna help protect the enamel in your teeth. it allows me to continue to drink my coffee and to eat healthier and it was a real easy switch to make.
