floor. >> reporter: jill laugherty was home with her husband and two children when a bus came through her foyer. she said it the missed it by moments. >> it could have been worse. fifty-second earlier and it would have been tragic. >> reporter: instead no one from the saint helena students to the four members of the family were seriously injured. isabel's principal kathy shoalberg says the bus safety program kicked in after the crash. isabel opened up a security door hussled her fellow students out of the bus and make sure everyone was okay. >> she's an amazing young lady and we are blessed to have her as part of the student body. >> thank you. >> reporter: that 58 year-old bus driver was taken to a local hospital just to be check out for injuries police say he should be okay but he also had some blood work done so investigators could determine his state of mind before he plowed into this home. in the mean too many family will be staying at a hotel tonight. we will have much more from

their account from inside the home at 6:00 o'clock. for now we are live from blue bell steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". steve paterson, thank much. commercial air liner on its way from spain to germany crashed in the french alps today and there are no signs of survivors. cbs the news correspondent tina krause has the very latest. >> reporter: this is what is left of the commercial airline their slam in the mountain side in the french alps. the german winnings plane carrying 150 people was about an hour from the flight from barcelona to dusseldorf when it made a sudden wrapped descent. there was no distress call from the air bus a320 as it approached the southern alps plunging 14,000 feet in eight minutes. >> we have to investigate properly with all of the professionals what went wrong. >> reporter: a group of 16 high school students and two teachers are among the passengers. family and friend gathered at their school in germany to wait for word on their loved

ones who were returning from a spanish exchange program. french authorities say recovery operations will be difficult because the plane crashed in rough terrain in a remote area but crews have already found a black box. germanwings is a subsidiary of lufthansa airline. lufthansa say the 25 year-old plane was inspect regularly. >> the last routine check by lufthansa technical services was done in dusseldorf just yesterday. >> reporter: airline officials refused to speculate on the cause of the crash. but for now they are calling it an accident and keeping their focus on the families. tina krause for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, president obama spoke with the german chancellor today expressing his condolences. he planned to talk to spain's president as well. the white house does say there is no indication that terrorism was involve in that crash. developing right now human remains found in the backyard of a frank for home. "eyewitness news" in the 4700 block of frankford avenue.

the remains are those of the woman, eyewitness captured pictures of the man being taken in custody at the scene. he was reportedly brought down with the taser. he has not been charged. it is unclear if he is connect to the remains that were found. the the impact of this one car crash in somerton ripped off one of the van's doors and sent the driver to the hospital. this all happened around 7:45 this morning. right in front of the lesh elementary school in bustleton avenue. the driver was unconscious but hospitalized in stable condition. the it is unclear what cause that had crash. fire investigators are looking in the cause of the house fire this morning in montgomery county. chopper three over the scene in bryn athyn a lock the 2900 block of cherry lane. no injuries were reported here neighbors were briefly evacuated as a precaution. a 20-foot deep sink hole in south amboy, new jersey swallowed an suv this morning. local responders evacuated at least four homes and police

dangerous reptiles. police say that the the suspects were trying to destroy crack cocaine when they arrived on the scene. there the was also a three-year old inside that home. all three suspects are facing charge of endangering the welfare of the child as well. hackers break into a school district's computer network holding it hostage and making matters worse the hackers now want ransom but not in cash but in a digital currency bit coin. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live in woolwich township. explain what is going on here, walt. >> reporter: jessica, the fbi, new jersey state the police county, local police are all looking into this most unusual sign's tack, that targeted the computers of the swede bureau woolwich school district here. the hackers not stealing identities but instead paralyzing the system and demanding a ransom payment to get it working again. >> we cannot do anything any part of our network under this

kind of an attack. >> reporter: suddenly monday morning teachers and students at four elementary school in the swedesboro woolwich school district found hackers using something called ransom wear had kidnaped their computer system. >> a person or persons at this point unknown hack our system remotely. >> reporter: the the hackers message school officials they would hold the computer network hostage and unusable until a ransom was paid. >> the ransom that was demanded is 500 bit coin which the police let us know is equivalent to $128,000. >> i don't have any idea how something like this happens. why they would have attack a school district, i have no idea. >> reporter: parents like julie smith found, without computers, their kid could not boost lunch, teachers could not take attendance. >> all internet so to not have that capability is difficult. we cannot check grade, we can check test scores or anything of those things. >> reporter: suddenly

front office shake up trading nick foles and shady mccoy. >> that is just scratching the surface. eagles owner jeffery lurie has been silent about all of those changes until right the now. our sports director beasley reese joins us about what the owner had to say about the state of the bird. >> reporter: mr. lurie broke his silence on the front office shake up that took much of general manager howie roseman's responsibility and handed them over to chip kelly. chip says it was the owner's idea. lurie said he knew howie would accept the change in responsibilities. >> just knowing howie, he is so selfless. he want to be participate and be valuable to us. i cannot go through the ways. strategically dealing with personnel in the nfl, incredibly valuable. >> chip kelly has been very respectful of shady in mccoy in the aftermath of one of the bold trades in eagles history. mr. lurie was more direct. shady doesn't fit chip's system.

who was treating very sick children. she knew there needed to be something like this. it is the story of doctor audry evans. our pat ciarrocchi has more. >> reporter: when doctor audry evans made casey layer, philadelphia's first ronald mcdonald house was a year-old. casey was barely 17 months. we met in march 1982. at the tiny girl with the blonde hair, and a curious eyes wasn't even two years old yet and already had been needle and given a diagnosis of neuro blast home a a childhood cancer which unspooled a thread that would connect kathy and doctor evans for these last 33 years. >> well, she's precious. i love her. >> reporter: amazing. doctor evans discovered that her disease was advanced in her bones and lymph nodes. the outlook for her survival was poor.

but an experimental approach had possibilities. >> we used total body radiation as a form of chemotherapy. it was just extraordinary that not only did she grow up, but she grew up healthy and i think the most extraordinary thing was she has a daughter. >> i look back and my memories are through photos and things that people have told me in reports and it is an amazing part of my treatment was the treatment of my family. >> reporter: kathy's mom mary her dad phil and her big sister pam. >> it was a huge part of my treatment, and the healing and it continues today. >> reporter: treatment in the gentle hand of doctor audrey evans, who believes all families of sick children needed more than just medicine, they needed a home. >> there is much more to the the house then you don't have to drive home at night. it is a wonderful environment

for families to go and come together. >> you always need to talk someone going through same things that you are going through because it is brand new. a parent just gets the news that your child has cancer and, you don't know what to do, and this is a place where you can, say, you are here because your child is here. so for kathy, a healing. for doctor evans a home for thousands, a miracle. >> of course she's a miracle. i mean i helped in the miracle but i didn't do it. somebody gave us a hand. >> reporter: also to build houses with love. >> ronald mcdonald house is certainly full of love and friendship. these one a perfect example of that. you might remember codey from season 16 of the big brother and cbs tv star just stotopping by to hang out with us.

haley is a local young woman with a personal experience with the ronald mcdonald house. so glad you are here. codey, lets start with you. tell us burr involvement with the ronald mcdonald house. >> yes, i met haley at the rap party for big brother. we came out to the fourth yet anniversary ronald mcdonald party and i got hook immediately. >> it is easy to do. >> unbelievable cause, how they experted her family and families all over the country. just an amazing cause to get behind. >> you two have forge a friendship. haley, you had a rare form oven self lights you were a cheerleader, living a normal life and you could not speak walk or anything. look at you now. the just a nation. tell me burr experience with ronald mcdonald house. >> my family stayed there for eight months. i was there for about a month because i went to chop for seven months and then went to the ronald mcdonald house. when i went there i still went

39 degrees. affirming high is 56. we now know we have been in the freezer with the month almost 4 degrees below average. tonight we will see those clear skies moon lit as the cloud get suppressed to the south, we have fair weather high pressure dominating but not for long. we are only at 41 in wilmington. same in reading. thirty-seven in the poconos. 45 degrees in allentown. cold air to the west and even to the south. richmond checking in at 54 degrees. so where is this warm weather. we have a warm front out to the west and that is moving eastwar. cloud roll in after the noon time hour and we will see a few spritz and sprinkles here and there during the day on wednesday. warm front moves through with temperatures in the 50's. but then by thursday, we will really get lock into the mild southerly flow ahead of the strong cold front and we are talking about temperatures in the 60's, chasing 70 degrees in the mid-atlantic heading toward the 80's. this is the thrust. you can see green on the doppler radar screen with some

showers. when the front moves through toward the evening we're even talking about a few rumbles of thunder with this. on the back side you can see blue contour and that does represent some cooler air working its way in for friday even into saturday and sunday. but for thursday a head of that front we will be seeing warm air and then period of rain up to a half inch, ponding on road, mild temperatures and, of course, southeasterly wind ahead of that front. overnight tonight clearing and cold low temperature around 30. twenty's in the suburbs. during the day tomorrow partly sun which afternoon suburbs. temperature around 50. on the the three day forecast you can see thursday is peak of the warmth but it also brings wet weather. sixty-eight friday. clearing and cooler in the 50's, but guys, i have to tell you over the weekend the last weekend of march will bring a chill. >> that is right. >> kate will have have more next half an hour and you may not want to look. >> we're ready to break out of

french alps today. all 150 people on board are believed to be dead. up investigators looking in the cause of that crash have found one of the jets black boxes. a school student escaped injury when their school bus smash in the home in blue bell, montgomery county this morning. family of four was inside at the time but they were not hurt. police are investigating what cause that had bus driver to lose control. humane remains are found in the back yard of the home on frankford avenue. one man was taken in custody. he has not been charged. it is unclear if he has any connection to the remains found. police have identified a woman who was killed this morning crossing the street in bensalem bucks county as 28 year-old cristina massey. investigators say she was hit by two cars but only one driver stop. police did catch up with the second driver, but as our jan carabao reports, no charges have been filed. >> reporter: police and the crime scene unit hard at work in the middle of the busy bensalem intersection tuesday

morning, after a woman, just 28 years old, is struck and killed by on coming traffic during the morning commute. >> it is quarter of 6:00 in the morning she's in all dark clothes. the these things this is a tragedy that could have been avoided. >> reporter: while still early in the investigation police believe she did not have the right away. police believe this pedestrian was walking crossing street when she was struck and kill. they say she was walking in or near crosswalk but she was walk ago begins her light. >> it looks like they had green light there witnesses, and pedestrian did not. >> reporter: police say would the man was hit by two cars, the first the silver car remain on the scene. the second kept driving. investigators eventually caught up to that driver at the a home in new jersey. >> witt netes at the scene were able to get the license plate on their cell phones which led us to the second vehicle. it does not appear that driver even realized they hit an individual laying on the highway. >> reporter: both drivers are being questioned and cooperating with police. it will be up to the district

attorney to decide if charges are filed n bensalem, jane carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". long awaited report on how to turn around atlantic city's trouble finances was released to day. two a appointed emergency managers recommended ways to get the struggling gambling resort back on the feet. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has the details. >> reporter: as casino and other local property values continue to plumet so do atlantic city's finances. tuesday the state appointed emergency management team sees the city has a budget short fall of 101 million-dollar. >> we're working towards a plan where we are understand the the holistic look at atlantic city friday a financial perspective that will have financial stability in 2016 and beyond. >> reporter: two months ago governor christie tapped kevin l.a.vin and kevin orr with turning the atlantic city crisis around. their 60 day report calls for

delaying pecks and benefit payments and cutting 10 million in operation allah cost. that could mean laying off two or 300 city employees. >> this unfortunately is part of the solution. i mean we have to be realistic of what we have to do here. we have to cut. >> reporter: democrats say the report from christie's team offers little and creative solution toss help atlantic city. they are pushing for legislation that would have casino make set payment to the city instead of paying property taxes that are tied to unstable property values. one bright side is that the emergency management team says tuesday they are in the considering bankruptcy for atlantic city. >> from my standpoint a bankruptcy just image of saying that about atlantic city says we're closed. so i think that is off the table right now. that is a good thing for atlantic city. >> reporter: atlantic city's emergency management team will issue a follow-up report and they will use mediators to negotiate with the labor unions on how to cut jobs and accosts.

in atlantic city i'm's cleve bryan for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". authorities say a threat against president obama's niece was a false alarm. leslie robinson is the president's niece. she plays basketball for princeton university. security was stepped up at their game last night against the the the university of maryland after a woman called the university of maryland's police department. she told them that she had received a text from a man that she knew had a gun and then mentioned the president's niece. on the cbs-3 healthwatch angelina jolie revealed she has had more surgery to prevent cancer. she made revelations known in the on ed. health reporter stephanie stahl has the details on the surprise announcement. >> reporter: angelina jolie said she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed last week to ensure that she has a long life with her husband and six children. actress and director made revelation in the new york times saying i feel at ease with whatever will come not the because i'm strong but because this is a part of life. it is nothing to be feared.

the 39 year-old superstar carries the brca one gene mutation which greatly increases her risk for breast and ovarian cancer her mother grand mother and aunt all died from the disease. two years ago she had a preventive double mastectomy to lower her risk but after a blood test showed an early sign of cancer she decided to have this latest surgery, even though the effects are life changing. >> ovary makes estrogen and now she's without the harmone producing ovaries so menopause was induced a decade earlier then in the average woman. >> reporter: early menopause increases risk of bone loss and heart disease. jolie wrote she's taking hormones to off set symptoms of menopause. even though jolie has dramatically lowered her chances of getting cancer there is still some risk. microscopic cancer cells can be left behind after surgery, now in her op ed article jolie encouraged women to learn about options and make choices right for them. doctors are saying jolie has

such a great day here at cbs-3 and cw philly. so great to meet these kid who have been through so much in their young lives and families been through so much. our pleasure to help them to help things get easier for these wonderful families. lets check whether our family our eyewitness weather watchers reporting very chilly conditions. lets go down first toward atlantic city. the thinks bill in pleasantville, new jersey. 38 degrees right the now. sun peeking out. bill is thinking about summer. he has his beach chair out in the beach in pleasantville thinking summer only 88 days from now. bill has hot check late in that mug. the not quite feeling summer like. thanks for that photo. heading up toward cherry hill new jersey 43 degrees, and four and she's reporting sunshine. i found spring right along my driveway annuals are speaking out. there we go, beautiful yellow tulips at lynn's house in cherry hill. i saw them sprout near king of prussia mall this weekend. it is copping. i feel like those tulips are

peeking out. we will go back in. cold is still here and hanging on for quite sometime. we have a warm up to tell but. the lets look at outside. we will go up to the poconos where it is bright blue skies, looks beautiful definitely cold enough for snow to stick around on those slopes at jack frost big bold inner carbon county. we started with cloud cover and then just slowly during the course of the day cloud decreased. look at storm scan three. mess of the cloud cover is off to the south as we have been slowly clearing the skies during the course of the afternoon. walk out to the great hall and check out phone bank just a few minutes ago and surprised to see sun coming in the window. slow process but beautiful clear afternoon. clear skies means, it will drop, considerably again tonight. another cold night on the way. notice how much warmer in allentown and reading, these areas had more sun. still holding on to the 30's in philadelphia and warmer to the north as well, state college, scranton warmer in philadelphia we could not break out keeping us chill toy day.

temperatures are up a and down 39 degrees today but tomorrow we will jump to the 50's and then 60's on thursday before we will get in the triangular weather pattern here. fifty's on friday. back to the 40's on sat day we cannot hold on to a trend of warm weather. you can see is what happening. warm front lifting through tomorrow. stray shower here and there high gets backup to near 50. on thursday the the system approaches, front should hold off until thursday night. we have a couple showers throughout the day but highs in the 60's and then that sweeps out, win picks up and we are back in the unseasonably cold pattern on friday and continuing in the weekend. here's future weather coupled with temperatures here 4:00 p.m. on wednesday in the 50's. temperatures start to rise we are at 45 at 10:00 p.m. and then temps rise slowly through wednesday night and thursday morning. the thursday a couple showers here and there but 53 by 9:00 a.m. sixty-one by 11:00. 1:00 p.m. some rain. temperatures in the 60's. 68 degrees by 3:00 p.m.

here that is front approaching. it does get warm. maybe 70 near wilmington. front comes through and will put an end to any warm up that we may enjoy. overnight clearing and cold. we are down to 30 degrees. for your wednesday. partly sunny. chance of an afternoon shower. and then you're witness weather seven day forecast. the here's the warm day. 68 degrees. the not a brilliantly sunny day but showers on and off. not a total wash out either. then temps drop again, look at saturday to 43 degrees. the sunday at 48. then it does get better at least back to normal perhaps or closer to normal mid 50's to start next week. we should see some sun monday and tuesday. stay more news when
