♪ right now breaking news. a car crash foot chase and shots fired. while scene tonight in philadelphia's nicetown neighborhood. and police shot one suspect at least one time. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live on the scene with some late breaking details. todd. >> reporter: chris, there are actually two shootings scenes to night but this is where it all started. right here at 17th and cayuga

streets you can see the back window of this van has been shattered. i'm told that an officer from the 39th police district fired several shots at a us suspect at a second location. it's believed that officer shot the arm suspect at least one time. the officers were initially call out to 17th for a shooting there they found a mini van that had been shot out by as many as 15 bullets at around 7:30. that same van also crashed into utility pole. they found the driver, a 23-year-old man lying on the ground shot in the torso. the shooting happened right near a church that had people inside it at the time. investigators say a second man then got out of the back of the van as officers arrived and began to quickly walk away. police say they noticed the man had begun with an extended clip and the officers began to chase the man down about a block away to lavish street. >> that's when the officer ordered the male to stop, drop the weapon, show his hands stop

running, the male refused. he turned, he pointed the weapon in the direction of both officers. that's when one officer dischargeed his weapon. striking the suspect in the torso. >> reporter: police say the suspect dropped these two guns after the officer fired. the suspect who is 24 years old was shot a total of three times. but it's not clear how many times he may have been shot by police. investigators are looking into the possibility that he may have been shot while he was in the van before officers arrived. a total of 20 shots might have been fired here tonight. both suspects right now are at temple university hospital. they're in stable condition. no officers were injured. up term affairs right now is investigating and as you can imagine they have a ton of ballistic evidence to sift through to sort this whole thing out. reporting life tonight in nicetown todd quinones cbs3 "eyewitness news". thank you, todd.

develop news right now disturbing discovery mater in the frankford section of the city today. a woman's body was found partially buried in the backyard of a home there. eyewitness took pictures of a man being taken into custody by police. he was reportedly brought down with a taser. but he's not been charged. it's unclear what if any connection he has to that woman who was found dead. new at 11:00 police are investigate a woman's claim she was sexually assaulted by an uber x driver. the alleged incident happened on february 6th in the city. police questioned the driver who has not been charged. and uber x spokesman tells "eyewitness news" the woman was dropped off at the tim police district station on the night of the alleged assault. that person also told us as this investigation continues the driver's access to the uber platform has been suspended. much of europe remains in shock tonight following the crash avenue commercial airliner into a mountainside in the french alps. there are many questions about

what happened here and there are no signs of survivors. the germanwings air bus with 150 people on board was about an hour into its flight from barcelona to duseldorf when something went terribly wrong. the plane departed at 10:00 a.m. climbing to its cruising altitude of 38,000 feet. there it stayed for just 60 seconds before beginning steep decent that lasted eight minutes. without a distress call. >> we have to investigate properly with all the professionals what went wrong. >> what can be seen of the wreckage is minimal. >> there are no pieces any more this hiker said. there is nothing. the plane has total the disappear. >> the debris at a high remote area of the alps makeing retrieving bodies and wreckage difficult and snow is in the forecast. but crews have already found one of the plane's flight recorder which is could give clues to its final minutes. germanwings is a low cost subsidiary of lou hansa airline

the driver was less than lucid just before he lost control. jumping the curb and then hitting that house. jill lafferty her husband and one of her daughters were home. >> sounded like an explosion and the force was so great that it pushed both of us on the floor. five seconds earlier and it would have been tragic. >> amazeingly no one was injured. it's not clear why that bus driver lost control. new tonight a proposed drug treatment center as people taking sides in historic hatter don feel. what will happen with the former bancroft facility next to haddon feel high school remains unclear unclear. but "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt was there as the community voiced its concerns. >> i was kind of surprised. i mean haddon feel has been really happy to have bancroft here all these years. they've been great having them in the neighborhood. >> reporter: when melissa adams got work the historic school was living and substance recovery center might move in she panic. >> i think it's a little dangerous for the neighborhood.

selling is fine. i think it depends who they're going oh sell it to. >> reporter: tuesday night almost 100 other passionate neighbors packed into the haddonfield commissioner's meeting. before anything is final borough officials will have to approve a rezoning. >> we have to give them a fair shake. they have to come in and make their representation, and that's what we'll do. >> reporter: bancroft school opened its haddonfield doors in 1883 but now the 132-year-old school is plan agnew complex in mt. laurel. recovery centers of america based in king of prussia wants to move in but the sale isn't final just yet. some neighbors are concerned about this high school is just a hundred feet away from bancroft' property. there's also an elementary school a few blocks away. one neighbor says that recipe spells trouble. >> located next to a high school school. and you're talking about some patients that have severe problems. >> this neighbor says he's not close to making up his mind. >> i'd like to hear all signed and understand both ends before any decision can be made.

>> reporter: there's no official timetable for the sale to go through. first developers of the new site need to submit the official proposal before the commission. in haddonfield david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> we reach out to recovery centers of america but we did not hear back. commissioners say sight developers will hold open meeting with the public in the coming week. hackers break into the computer network of a south jersey school district and now they're demanding a ransom. teachers and students at four elementary schools in the swedesboro woolwich district got hit by hackers yesterday morning morning. these hackers messaged they wanted to be paid 500 bit coins a digital currency equivalent to $128,000. >> school was in session much as it might have been 20 or 30 years ago before the advent of technology. >> for now the hackers identity and motive remains a mystery. the district is working to get thing back up and running. police have now identified the pedestrian hit by two cars

and killed in bensalem today as 28-year-old christina massey. investigators believe that she may have crossed against the light at street and knights road when she was hit this morning. one driver did stop. the second kept going but police did track them down that driver at home in new jersey. no charges have been filed. well tonight we decided to take a look closer look at this intersection once again street road and knights road in bensalem. let's take look at from it street view. it gives i was better look at exactly what it's like there. you might be surprised to learn according to penndot, this is one of the most heavily traveled intersections anywhere in the country. in fact researchers found 55,000 vehicles pass through this each day. and according to recent study by time magazine and the national highway traffic safety administration this is the most dangerous intersection anywhere in the country. over 10 year time frame they analyzed traffic here, there were seven deadly crashes.

we are getting our first look tonight at police surveillance video of an incident allegedly involveing drunk secret service officers. the video shows a car pulling up outside an entrance to the white house grounds. a woman drops off a package which she says is a bomb and then the vehicles speed off. 30 minutes later the two secret service agents are seen driving slowly toward the entrance which is now a crime scene because of that bomb investigation. they nudge a plastic barrel aside. the secret service director today testified he learned about the incident five days after it happened. >> new at 11:00 o'clock tonight residents in cape may get a chance to voice their opinion on a controversial decision to demote that city's police chief. captain robert sheehan received a standing ovation as he went and side tonight's council meeting at congress hall. council took that action back on march 3rd they said they were concerned that sheehan was part of an investigation into a sub ordinance possible abuse of comp time. the prosecutor said that after

>> breaking news in williamstown new jersey. a pedestrian has been hit and killed by a vehicle. chopper three live over that scene right now. this is tuckahoe road near route route 322. we're toll the vehicle did remain on the scene. new jersey is joining a multi state effort to track crack down on distracted driving driving. state police adding extra enforcement patrols on i-95 today. it's all part of what's being called the i-95 challenge and the goal is to reduce crashes along the major east coast artery that stretches from florida to maine. troopers will be on the look out for violators. >> looking for speeding, seat belts, tailgateing, distracted driving and of course the move over law. what we're hoping to do with publicity and our media is get out the message so people will change their driving behavior before we have to get them pull over.

"eyewitness news" at gw child school in point breeze for that pub leck forum. doug oliver, nelson diaz milton street anthony williams and jim kenny all discussed their plans to improve the district's performance and its finances. candidates lynne abraham and melissa bail dull not attend the event. primary day for philadelphia mayor is may 19th. actress angelina jolie surprises the world with another surgery and once again it's an attempt to ward off cancer. jolie made the revelation in a new york times op ad and she's had her ovaries and fallopian tubes remove as of last week. the 39-year-old super star carries the brca1 gene mutation that greatly increases her risk for breast and ovarian cancer. her mother, grandmother and aunt all died from that disease. and recent blood test showed a possible early sign of cancer.

believes people have a right to know their diagnosis. >> carol says her dad saw the doctor a lone when he was put on alzheimer's drug. but nothing was explained to the family who was worried about his memory trouble. >> i think with dad he left the office and he forgot about it he may not have wanted to share it because he was afraid. >> there are laws called hipaa that prevent doctors from talking about patients unless the patient greece. that's why families are advised to get involved and ask questions. there is no cure for alzheimer's but when detector early it can sometimes be slowed and patients and their families can have time to make plans. >> i have a lot of anger and now i think i also have a lot of sadness because i always wonder how much better could he be? could could we have helped sooner. >> now it's a waiting game for carol and her family who can't figure out why the doctor wasn't more forthcoming. >> one of the most common reasons they're worried about causing emotional distress. >> and doctors say it's
