noetsz captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for wednesday, march 25th, 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning recovery teams and investigators resume their search in a remote area of the french alps where a german airliner plunged into a mountainside. this is what they face. the german minister calls it a picture of horror. jer managewings flight crashed as it flew to germany. they say the black box voice recorder is damaged but it can still provide information. there were 144 passengers and six crew members on board all presumed dead. there was no distress call from the pilots and the aircraft went through a routine check on

monday. >> reporter: this is what's left of a commercial airliner that slammed into a mountainside in the french alps. the germanwings airbus was flying when something went terribly wrong. the plane climbed 32,000 feet. there it stayed for 60 seconds before it began a deep descent which lasted for eight minutes without a distress call. >> we have to investigate properly with all of them with what went wrong. >> either way were trying to solve the many problems they face order they simply were unable to. you must remember the pilot must first try to solve the problem apsd then communicate. >> there is no more pieces. there is nothing. the plane has totally disappear. the degree field is in a high remote area making retrieval of

springfield. there were no reports of damage or injury though. well, the state of massachusetts is asking for federal disaster relief to help cover the cleanup costs following record-setting snowfall. the state wants ten counties to be declared disaster areas following a series of major storms. massachusetts spent about $400 million on snow removal. the state is seeking 75% reimbursement. this morning italy's court is expected to rule on the appeal of aamanda knox in the murder of a student. she and her boyfriend were convicted for a second time. she was found dead back in her apartment back in 2007. knox spent nearly four years in jail during the investigation but now lives in seattle. if appeal is denied prosecutors could ask for her extradition.
