here it is, the weekend and naturally we can only muster a high temperature today of 40 degrees. the that is the high. we will drop way below freezing tonight. the right now it is very quiet the out there. rehoboth beach no one is out and boardwalk is very quiet and it is dry we're happy to say. as we push on and take a look at storm can three this is not hitting the ground but you can see we have moisture aloft and that is triggering maybe a snow shower maybe a rain shower moving through the the afternoon hours. no guarantee you'll see one, they may be in narrow band and you won't get anything at all but there is a chance you could. just something to put in the back of your mine. any precipitation should be very light but there you go, we just cannot get rid of winter. 37 degrees in philadelphia. thirty-four in trenton. 37 degrees in wilmington. the it is 24 in the poconos. thirty-nine down in wildwood. when we factor in the wind at this point it the feels like 27 degrees outside in philadelphia. we will have a a breezy day coming up for us.

we have a cloudy day too. expect to see clouds most of the time these temperatures with that spotty shower in spots, 40 degrees this afternoon and we will put this into motion and you can see most of us stay dry most of the time. the it is a glummy looking day. we have better temperatures coming up on that eyewitness weather seven day forecast, nicole. we are following breaking news at this hour a four alarm fire rages out of control in the tioga a section of the city. "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson is at the the fire scene on the 2400 block of west moreland street steve. >> reporter: yeah, good morning nicole. this is a a far cry from the scene earlier. fire fighters have done significant work in knocking the flames down behind me. i want to show you back to the scene. reason why i was wearing a hood is it deployed this massive pressure host that they have on top of this building but really done some significant work in making sure that the the scene is secure for fire fighters and people in this area because

earlier the fire was raging and out of control is a great description for it. i want to hoe you video from earlier. this is the 2400 block of west west moreland, fire fighters have been battling for about two hours at the this point and in the last half to about an hour or so it has been pushed from a three to four alarm fire as we have been mentioning. the as we have been on seven the the scene there have been multiple collapses on both sides of the building. fire fighters appear to have it locked down, they are accomplishing what appears to be primary mission at happened which is to stop the flames from spreading. this appears to be an a abandon, unoccupied structure, in fact, we have been talking to crews on the scene here who say at least at the this point no medical transport yet. fire fighters taking all precautions at this point they are in the defensive posturing, they are taking a big perimeter and making sure nobody gets into the so-called

collapse zone which is just near the building. we know the fire commissioner derrick sawyer is on the scene we are trying to get the more update about where the fire battle is at the this point and structural integrity of the building as they continue to battle the flames here. this is a very active scene. we're here. we will bring you updates as soon as we have them. for now that is latest from the tioga section of north philadelphia i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news", back to you. thanks, steve. also breaking news, an explosion at a bucks county manufacturing plant turns deadly. this is video from overnight at the the plant on the 900 block of homelock road in morgan town. circumstances of the blast remain unclear but investigators identified victim as 27 year-old jacob lopez from effort a. he is survived by his fiance. osha investigators are on the scene right now. we will bring you new details as we get throughout the

morning. also new this morning a man is shot and killed inside of a home in the frankford section of the city. it happened in the 4300 block of elizabeth street around midnight. police say the the 24 year-old victim was struck several times in the chest and then in the arms. the man's distraught system showed up at that crime scene where she spoke to "eyewitness news". >> my brother did a lot. he took care of my mother my sister. he took care of me. he loved his family. >> reporter: we spoke with police who say they have not made an arrest. so far no description of any suspects. detectives in south philadelphia are busy investigating a double shooting overnight. "eyewitness news" a at 65th and he will will many wood around 12:30 this morning. we are told two men, one 22-year old and 128 year-old were rushed to the hospital. they are listed in stable condition. there is no information on the suspect. well scandal rocks a montgomery county high school, students allegedly post explicit picture of other

"eyewitness news" anchor jessica dean has details of an administrators and police investigate. >> reporter: north pen parents are outraged after word came down from the school district about allegations some students may have shared inappropriate pictures and videos on line. >> especially pictures. you just don't do that. >> reporter: katie joyce and other parents told "eyewitness news" that they found out from the district late friday. >> i think kid should be careful about what they put on the internet. myself as a parent i drill my kids all the time about what they can and cannot do. >> reporter: students told "eyewitness news" that the photographs were posted on drop box site lets user share photos on a mobile phone or tablet. >> be careful what you put out there because it will end up on a when you fill out the a job application. >> reporter: on district students took to social media to call for a stop to the a alleged picture posting and parents we spoke to agreed. >> if you put something on the internet it is there forever. same with texting. will anything you do.

you have to be so careful. >> reporter: jessica dean, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". it is unknown if charges will be filed. anyone who may have information relating to this investigation is urged to contact the the the police. right now, a lingering mystery in somerset the count appears to be solved. officials say cooper health systems ceo john sheridan killed his wife joyce and then took his own life. but as "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco tells us those closest to the couple believe that is not what happened. >> reporter: six months after the the ceo of cooper health system and his wife died, their montgomery township home remains boarded. the cars still park in the driveway, the somerset prosecutor now says that john sheridan stabbed his wife joyce to death and set the house on fire in the early morning of september 28th and what has new been ruled a murder/suicide. the official autopsy reveals joyce was stabbed with eight stab wound to her head and within to her chest in the upstairs bedroom. she died before the the fire

started, smoke inhalation and sharp force injuries killed john. fire fighters found him in the burning house with five broken ribs and cuts to his neck and body. he was lying underneath a heavy dresser. two knives and a gasoline can with his fingerprint were found in the bedroom all of the powe eggses intact including $1,000 in cash. also the home had no signs of forced entry. investigators say witnesses told them in the days leading up that his mental condition had been deteriorating. john had been withdrawn overly worried with regard to work issues n a statement sheridan's four sons says the conclusions seek to convict our father based on little more than rank speculation. we will be filing a lawsuit challenging the conclusion announced by investigators. we will not allow our father to be convicted wayed on guesswork based on a inadequacies eighth incomplete investigation simply because he is not here to defend himself. investigators followed the evidence and in a statement

friend. she deserved so much in this life. >> the ruling which struck down last years guilty verdicts by a florence appeals court brings the eight year case to a close. welshing more troubling details emerge about the pilot the that french authorities say intentionally crashed a plane full of people in the french alps. that crash killed drexel university graduate emily selke and 149 other people. now we're hearing exclusively from one of her close friend. she talked only with "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt. >> emily was just such a positive person. she had this very go with the flow personality. very easy going. so she was really easy to get along with. >> reporter: julie is still coming to grips with the reality that her friend emily selke died in this plane crash in the french alps. >> that is me, emily. >> reporter: the two were

roommates for a summer in scotland and quickly became friend. >> it was crazy how fast we became friend and how comfortable she just made me feel. i thought we had been friend for like years. >> reporter: emily, her mother yvonne and 148 others died in the crash. what prompted 27 year-old andreas lubitz to crash the passenger jet? it is key question investigators in multiple countries are working to answer. >> i don't feel angry. i'm really sad for the father the parents of that young pilot. i mean i cannot imagine what they are going through right now. >> reporter: investigators searched lubitz apartment and found a torn up doctor's net excusing him from work, the same day, authorities say he crashed the plane on purpose. investigators say he lock the pilot out of the cockpit before dissenting in the mountains. investigators expect to it take weeks to locate everyone

we don't have fog. we have some cloud. we have a nice start to the day. it will be not a tremendous day to day weather-wise but we have seen worse. the lets take a look at the the shore right the now and you can see bright conditions there a lot of it courtesy of thomas edison. we have headed over to the poconos and we have a temperature of 27 degrees there and the the lights are on in a number of locations. we have a couple of snow showers that we can maybe find later on today. they should be light very whitely scattered. not everybody seeing them. i'm sure that is in the bad news to just about every within. thirty-seven in philadelphia. thirty-seven in wilmington. we have 34 degrees in trenton this morning. 332 the freezing mark and poconos at 24 degrees. there are a couple snow showers at the the airport in lancaster. some of this is hitting the ground. the thinks all light. it gives you an indication that something is out there, so you may be finding a little

streamer with some of these strong wind of getting some snow showers. it the is not even out of the realm of possibility that the rain shower is in there as well. temperatures today will be getting to about we can take the s off, 40 should be about what it is. high pressure builds in tomorrow. sunnies out. temperatures are higher in the 40's. and then by monday in the advance of the cool front we have temperatures in the the 50's, maybe a shower or two, one or two times, and i will she teaw on our computer model which is completely right showing that we have a couple of snow showers out by lancaster at this point by 7:00 o'clock. they will continue on that trajectory. we will get some cloud. we will get the a sprinkle will here or there we will get a flurry here or there off to the west we will see a couple snow showers and the shore. we have a couple rain showers that could transition to a snow shower in a spot or two but it is a tricky forecast as we go through later on today this evening and then by

good morning thanks so much for joining us i'm nicole brewer at 5:30. let's send it over to carol for more on this unseasonably cold temperatures, carol. >> yes, polite way to do it, a tv way to put it. i'm sure you have your own descriptions for weather at home because we will continue with these very cold temperatures, for this time of the year. only 40 for our high temperature today the the high temperature, right now, 36 degrees. it looks bright enough out there, ben franklin bridge all let up ready to take your $5. we have a temperature of 34 degrees at palmyra cove nature park in new jersey and there are a few clouds. notice wind from the north west at 12 miles an hour. that is a chilly direction and chilly speed that we will be finding the wind keeping it feeling even colder then that 40 degrees. storm scan three lancaster has pick up a few snow showers they have moved out of there right now but you can see some are crossing over into maryland and central delaware.

>> reporter: yeah, nicole what a difference some 20 minutes make on this fire. fire fighters have been battling this fire for hours and they have done some significant work to knock down some of the flames. take a a look at what they are doing. they are completely dousing the top of the building. they have had jet streams going solid for a half an hour now and where flames were raging earlier, they have since subsided, although they continue to do battle the heat that is inside and on top of that building. but again what a difference in time it makes. i want to show you video. this is the the 2400 block of west/west more land. fire fighters battling this for over two hours now. within the last hour the fire was pushing from a three alarm to the four alarm. the fire commissioner is on the scene taking a defensive posturing with his fire fighters. there have been multiple building collapses instant we have been on the scene on all sides of the building part of the structure that was here

before now is now. fire fighters do appear to have it locked down at this point. they are accomplishing their mission which is trying to stop the films from spreading on to separate structures which has been a success so far. it appears thinks an abandoned unoccupied structure. we have been talking to crews on the scene saying all no medical transport, in problems in the battling of the fire just how swede spread the damage has been. some fire fighters continue to battle this. it is far from over at this point but they appear to have it lock down and stop the flames from spreading, at least at this point as they continue to douse the flames on top. for now it is latest from the tioga a section of north philadelphia, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". more updates after this, nicole. thanks steve. investigators from ocean a are on the scene of the deadly explosion at a bucks county manufacturing plant. this was the scene overnight

at the plant on the 900 block of homelock road in mar again town. the circumstances remain unclear but investigators identified victims as 27 year-old jacob lopez from effort to. he is survived by his fiance. trouble new information emerges about thursday's gas explosion and building collapse in new york. the blast was caught on tape and two people are still missing in manhattan's east village. it may have been cause by a worker tapping a gas line. a fire fighters a say there was carnage all around him. >> the gas is number one killer on have firemen. if you look at the history you know it is an old saying i was scared but i did it anyway. you just, you know, hope it is not that time. >> it blast damaged or destroyed four apartment buildings and injured nearly two dozen people. here at home chopper three over the schuylkill river friday as emergency crews

pulled a body from the water. this is near kelly drive in south ferry road in east falls. police say body is a man but there is in word on his identity or the cause of death. someone on the river bank discovered thatted about i and called police. the mother of the suspects charged with assaulting a young woman in port richmond is a apologizing. investigators say the the woman was walking home from her gym when she was attacked wye a 14 and 16 year-old on rich machine street thursday night. "eyewitness news" spoke on friday with the mother of the 16 year-old suspect. >> no, i don't. i don't believe he is capable of doing anything like that. >> reporter: yes. >> what are the parents doing. the it is sad that it comes down to this. >> prosecutors are expecting to try the suspects as adults. meanwhile charges have now been filed against one of these two men in the attack of an elderly man. the suspect facing charges is 27 year-old steven miller. police say miller a attack an eight three-year old man

outside helps home at the robin will apartment complex in voorhees. the the victim was beaten before being robbed of his belongings. a second suspect is facing charges for using the victim's credit card after that attack. the the victim is recovering in the hospital. a septa busies in the right place at the the right time, the driver is being called a hero after finding a little girl who wandered from her home for a special treat. the child was found alive at torresdale and magee in the philadelphia's tacony maybe hood.
