"eyewitness news". a home grown terror suspect is taken off the streets. investigators paint a disturbing picture tonight of her desires to support a violent terror group. good evening, i'm chris may. natasha brown. jessica is off. this is what we know tonight about this suspect. her name is keonna thomas but the 30-year-old goes by -- she's referred to herself as the young lionness. >> she took to twitter to show support of isis. she's also accused of communicating with an isis fighter in syria. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live outside the federal courthouse in center city with more. david? >> reporter: chris company on in a thomas is behind me under federal lock up much she's not going anywhere until her neck court appearance. neighbors are very surprised about this after all this woman had american flags outside in front of her home but intelligence officials they've been looking alt her for a long time.

>> exclusive video shows 30-year-old keonna thomas walking out of her home and into a squad car. she was picked up early friday morning. charged with trying to join isis isis. she appeared before a federal judge friday afternoon for her first appearance. >> you never know who you live neck door to. i'm lost for words, you know. it's very shocking. >> ronnie paterson lives across the street from thomas. also known young lionness much. >> it's really just really sick. it's sad. >> reporter: according to an affidavit the fbi began watching thomas in august of 2013. court documents indicate the 30-year-old mother had plans to travel to barcelona spain then istanbul turkey noon syria where she want to do die a martyr. she quoted if we truly knew the realities we would all be rushing to join our brothers in the front line lines. pray allah september us as shuhada martyrs. >> it wasn't surprise at all f there's any surprise it's that

it didn't happen sooner. >> ed turzanski worked for the cia during the reagan administration and teaching the terrorism subject at lasalle. he told "eyewitness news" online radicalization is becoming more popular by the day. >> these are usually people with some sort of dysfunction. something missing in their lives lives. and they find meaning through the people they interact act with over the internet. >> reporter: in court thomas only said yes and no. but her tweets continued to become concerning enough to raise a red flag to the intelligence community. according to court documents thomas communicated with an isis fighter overseas. that isis member wrote in part, "but if my wife comes and it turns out she was a spy after all these years i will personally behead her". thomas responded "cutting head is more personal". thomas' defense attorney didn't say much as she passed our camera. >> i don't have any further comment at this time. my office was just appointed but we'll prepared neck week to

cbs3.com read the full criminal complaint against keonna testimony mass. rainy night across the delaware valley and storm scan3 shows a lot more rain is headed right for us. meteorologist kate bilo live on the cbs3 sky deck tracking how wet our holiday weekend is actually going to be. kate? >> the good news natasha this is only going to last through tonight and most of the holiday weekend should be spared from the rain. the problem is we still have a lot of rain to get through or at least scattered showers through tonight and some very strong winds will then take the place of the rain for tomorrow. let's take look once again at storm scan3. you can see a lot of green on the radar still back across western pennsylvania down toward the dc area and all those showers are going to be lifting in here during the overnight hours. don't be surprised at least until thee, four, even six or 7:00 a.m. showers could continue to fall you may hear that pitter patter on your rooftop tonight while you're trying to sleep here's midnight the rain to the

south and west starting to move in 2:00 a.m. it's moving on through. maybe even a rumble of thunder. 4:00 a.m. we're still dealing with the showers and then we start to clear things out. but then the wind picks up the pace. temperatures are still mild for the moment. we're at 59 at the airport. 60 down in millville but temperatures will be dropping tomorrow with the wind it will feel even colder. more on that and also a glimpse at easter sunday and the phillies home opener monday coming up when i join you inside. we'll zen it back in to you. well also tonight "eyewitness news" has obtained new vitter yo of the arrest of a vineland new jersey man who died while in police custody. while questions continue to swirl around this case and prosecutors investigate friends of philip white are demanding answers. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco reports tonight from vineland. >> reporter: candles are lit at a vigil for 32 year old philip white. known to family as capone. he died earlier this week in police custody. his final minutes caught on cell

phone video. the 152nd video shows white on the ground in the grips of a k9 and being restrained by vial vineland police. he died on the way to the hospital but friends say police went too far. >> beyond excessive force. when you handcuff an individual they're subdued i don't care if they're under the nouns or anything you want to say they're under the nouns is. how much can a person do handcuffs. white is turned over in handcuffs. the video ends with an officer trying to confiscate the cell phone. friends tell "eyewitness news" white a father of thee struggled with the use of pcp. he was being questioned in response to a disorderly call on the 100 block of west grape street tuesday. >> don't grab my gun accident. >> scanner traffic indicates white tried to disarm an officer. off camera a witness toll us white started becomeing be lidge rent. he started yelling and he through around house kick.

>> his death drawn anger from dozens in the community. now looking for justice. >> what happened to him is wrong. it's wrong. >> reporter: white was given cpr on the way to the hospital tuesday but pronounced dead once he arrived. investigators are now awaiting the results of a toxicology and autopsy report before they make a final determination. in vineland, cumberland county, diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". well a nearly decade old mystery could be one step closer to being solved tonight. a hunter found human remains off whites bog road in pemberton township on monday and called police. and tonight we're learning the remains are that of 36-year-old stacey greater the pemberton woman disappeared in february february 2006. police continue to investigate what actually happened to grater and ask anyone with information to please contact new jersey state police. new tonight philadelphia police

on the scene of a double shooting in the city's wissonoming neighborhood. investigators tell us two men were shot in the 6600 block of hager man street shortly after 7:00 o'clock. 18 year old man was shot in the back. a 20-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder. there's no word on a suspect at this point. a student at west chester university is behind bars tonight accused of sexually assaulting another female student. police say that 19-year-old maoris see yo martinez committed that crime last weekend at an off campus fraternity housing party. he is facing charges including rape indecent assault and unlawful restraint. a hearing has been set for april april 16th. new information tonight in i-team special report. pennsylvania high schoolteacher got a 30 day prison sentence and three years probation for having sex with one of her students. >> erika jeanette tee was tight lipped as she entered montgomery county court today.

two years ago the lower moreland high schoolteacher began sexually sending sexually explicit text messages, photos and videos of herself to one of her students. she was 33 and married with children when prosecutors say she had sex with a 17-year-old boy in her car. >> we as a society put great trust in our teachers and our schools, and she be trade that trust. >> she plead guilty to institutional sexual assault and disseminateing sexually explicit materials to a minor. she lost her job. she will not ab loud to teach again and she'll have to register as a sex offender. these are some of the 60 alleged drug dealers and drug buyers who are off the streets tonight after a drug sweep in the kensington section of philadelphia. authorities also seized 24 vehicles in the operation that took place on thursday. it was a response to residents complaints about outsiders constantly coming into their neighborhood to buy crack

heroin and marijuana. new at 11:00 o'clock religious leaders and other supporters hold a gun control procession on good friday. dozens gathered advocateing tougher gun laws at morris park in south fest philly. many held signs of loved ones killed by gun violence. a long time activist for gun control has died. sarah brady passed away today at a retirement home in virginia. at the age of 73. she became a passionate advocate for gun control after her husband james brady was shot in the head in the assassination attempt on president reagan. brady's family says her work saved countless lives. another major move is under way in the effort to revitalize atlantic city which you are looking at live right now. the florida developer who is buying the now closed revel casino is also trying to buy the former showboat casino. glenn straub is put up $26 million hoping to purchase

campus yesterday. authorities say the somali terrorists planned their rampage carefully while striking students in their sleep. takeing hostages even targeting a site where christians had gone to pray. and there are some chilling new details emerging about the last moments of the germanwings flight that plunged into the french alps. investigators say the second night data recorder shows co-pilot andreas lubitz increased the speed of the plane before it slammed into the mountains. prosecutors say it backs their suspicion that lubitz intentionally crashed the plane. 150 people were on board that plane when it crashed late last month. no one survived. we also have a health warning for you tonight about a nasty stomach bug that some travelers are brining back into the states. it's called chick loses nearly 250 people in the us have been sickened by the intestinal illness. one of eight of them in pennsylvania. many cases were traced to the dominican republic, india or

other countries. now the cdc says the majority of cases are resistant to antibiotics with only 10% of cases responding to treatment. well tonight we are hearing an amazeing story of survival. a man is rescued and reunited with his family after he disappeared at sea more than two months ago. louis jordan spent 66 days stranded in the atlantic ocean. he had been living on a dock sailboat when he left south carolina to go fishing. the weather turned bad. capsizing and crippling his boat boat. louis describes how he managed to survive. >> i rationed my food and water and i ragged my energy because every little thing i did every cleaning chore every sailing chore, every repair took energy. >> imagine that. 66 days in all. crews aboard a container boat eventually -- ship rather spotted jordan and rescued him after being treated at a

today was a mild day as you can see we've been dealing with this cold front all day this front is well back to the west. it's coming in out ahead of the front brought in those n warm southwest know today and helped temperatures climb into the 60s and even into the 70s down across portions of southern delaware but as we head through tonight, we're going to see the last of that rain start to come through it is actually weakening. the good news we've lost of the heating of the day not quite warm enough to support strong thunderstorms. mainly rain through the overnight hours as this progresses eastward we will be talking about a change for the better but also some gusty winds. let's check in with our "eyewitness weather" watchers and as you can see we'll take you to our roof cam shot you can see we've got some fog. all across the city right now. some low clouds, fog all dotting the landscape our weather watchers reporting tepp chess generally still right around 60 degrees. and we are seeing those temperatures drop through tonight and once they drop, they're not going to come back up very far. in fact i don't think we'll see the 60 as ought all for tomorrow tomorrow. john in philadelphia 61 with a

little bit of rain. 60 as we head over into new jersey and check in with david dutch in clementon. most just reporting clouds right now. already back to the 50s as we check in with walter in newark, delaware. another look at our roof cam shot and again it is looking pretty nasty outside as we look to the west storm scan3 showing that green creeping in across western pennsylvania and heavier rain south across west virginia and into western virginia you can see all that yellow, that orange shading all moving eastward. we don't expect any again strong thunderstorms with this but don't be surprised if you hear the rain all throughout the night. some folks like to sleep with that sound. people even use white noise you don't need it to night. the rain will do it for you. 59 degrees at the airport as we await that rain. 60 degrees in reading and it's 53 in mount pocono you can really see where that cold front is look at the blue invading across half of pennsylvania. temperatures will be dropping as we head no your saturday. we've also got a gusty wind thanks to a pressure gradient created by the departing storm

and high pressure system overhead on sunday a few clouds with a front off to the north but notice overnight and into tomorrow winds at times will gust over 35 miles per hour. so it's sunny but very blustery saturday. overnight cloudy skies showers maybe a rumble of thunder for your saturday clouds give way to sun it's windy and cooler that 56 will feel more like 46 with the wind and the wind will be with us pretty much all day long. 52 at noon. 54 by 2:00 p.m. winds do die down slightly by dinnertime tomorrow. easter sunday look great. mostly sunny breezy but pleasant at 62 degrees. and let's you take into the seven day forecast. phillies home opener is monday. and it's a beautiful one. 67 with some sun. unfortunately the rest of the week not looking quite as nice. showers tuesday through friday. stay there.
