the house to collapse. good evening everyone. i'm natasha brown. thanks for joining us of the firefighters spent hours battling this blaze in pennsauken. but they could not save the home home. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson spoke with a family member about the loss. >> my god. >> reporter: they were the only words corner store owner could muster peering down from this second floor porch to suffocateing smoke carrying by intent wind. firefighters called to the corner of union and stow in camden county shortly before 3:30 saturday afternoon. arriving to find the house consumed by flames. take look. you can see the progression from shot surveillance video. flames that started in the home's yard quickly over took the structure with winds gusting at 30 miles per hour overwhelming firefighters. >> westing few minutes yes. >> one thing after the other for the last three years. >> reporter: family carol wood says this is the latest hardship in a series facing homeowner mary.

two years ago her husband died of cancer. a month later her father died the same way. in september of this year, mars see's son volunteer firefighter kevin was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. carol's daughter is kevin's fiance'. >> we're going to beat this, too. my daughter also had cancer. she's four years cancer free and we just keep on beating everything that comes up. we'll beat this, too. >> reporter: well no people inside the home at the time of the fire and collapse but marcy's dog sophie was inside unfortunately. the dog died in the fire. it was the very same dog that bought to cope with the loss of her husband. the family is planning on doing some online fundraising when that happens we'll let you know when and how to contribute. for now though, reporting from pennsauken i'm steve patterson cbs3 "eyewitness news". developing right now in the jewelers row section of philadelphia, police say a woman was abducted after leaving a store where she works.

investigators say the 53-year-old was taken around 4:00 this afternoon from a parking garage near national watch and diamond or south eighth street. they say her abductors demanded codes to the store's alarm system and then dropped her off at the corner of 84th street and lindburgh boulevard in southwest philly. police say the woman is now at penn presbyterian medical center. investigators are looking for the kidnappers. turning to our weather tonight a cool and breezy night around the area. when he hit another atv rider. he was air lived to children's hospital of philadelphia currently in critical condition. no word yet on the other rider's condition. and police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian and then drove away. it happened late last night in the northern liberties section of philadelphia. police say a 24-year-old man was crossing the street on the 900 block of delaware avenue when he was struck. he was pronounceed dead at that scene. investigators say the vehicle is black or dark colored anyone with information is asked to contact philadelphia police right away. a community meantime says goodbye to a dash bow police officer gunned down inside his own home. today fellow officers, firefighter -- friends and tally held a very emotional service to honor officer mark hudson. the entrance of st. joseph's church in collingdale. friends, family fire and law enforcement from across the region joined for a final farewell to 26-year-old darby borough police officer mark hudson. >> other 26-year-old need to stipulate up. he's accomplish a lot. >> officer hudson was off duty when he was fatally shot inside of his glenn olden home one week ago. investigators say hudson was trying to break up with his live-in girlfriend 27-year-old teyona finch when she pulled the trigger. she faces first and third degree murder charges. as a young man officer hudson participated in the boy scouts and managed to dodge trouble as a teen by volunteering at the yeadon fire department. chief michael was one of his mentors. >> how you guys going to get through. >> together. we'll talk about it and we'll cry together and we'll grieve together. the biggest way and the best way we'll get through this is

the cause. thomas' next court date is set for wednesday. and we are now beginning to hear the shocking stories of survival from victims in thursdays terror attack that killed 148 people a kenyan university. wendy gillette has more from the victims who refused to die. >> reporter: the islamic extreme group al-shabab there will be more attacks like the one the garissa university student of college that killed 148 people. the group said kenyan cities will run red with blood. kenya's president said in a nationally televised address that his administration will respond in the severe way possible. >> we will do everything to defend our way of life. >> reporter: police rescued a 19-year-old woman saturday morning who survived the attack by hiding in a wardrobe and covering herself with clothes. >> i was scared.

flooding in kentucky has turned deadly a woman whose car was swept into a swollen creek on friday was found dead today. initially authorities thought a child was also in the car. but they now believe the woman was alone. severe thunderstorms earlier this week swamped the state triggering flash floods in several locations. and caught on camera huge brawl erupts inside a casino in queens. video shows people hurling chairs across the food court and throwing punches as innocent bystanders tried to get out of the way to avoid injury. eyewitness reportedly says someone cutting in line to buy a daycare actually started this chaos. so far three people have been arrested. and tens of thousands of basketball fans have flocked to indianapolis for the final four this weekend. gay rights advocates are using the tournament to spotlight and

raise awareness about lgbt rights. today protesters marched in front of lucas oil stadium pushing for state legislation to bar discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. the move comes after indiana passed now revised law that had briefly allowed businesses to refuse service to customers on religious grounds. prince harry meantime takes to the skies in a world war ii era fighter plan for some stunts. footage of the prince and the passenger seat of a spit fire was released today. it was filmed last year over the isle of white were one harry met two wounded servicemen. those men won a scholarship to learn how to fly the plane. the spit fire became a symbol of britain's resistance during world war ii as the royal air force battle the the nazis. in vatican city easterville jill mass was celebrated by pope francis.

ushered in cooler and drier air mass but now our winds speeds are calming down under 10 miles an hour early tomorrow morning really won't have to deal with harsh winds. they'll be sustained about 10 miles per hour but late morning into the afternoon the wind does start to pick up. up to around 20 miles an hour with higher gusts but notice the direction of those arrows pointing to the northeast. southwest wind that starts to bring in some milder air. here we go storm scan3 clear skies over us right now maybe a few clouds try to come into the poconos as a weak disturbance moves through otherwise looking dry. here's your easter sunday forecast. temperatures into the 60s. cold front to our north long as it stays to our north we'll be dealing with the mild numbers. same deal on monday open warmer some spots to hit 70 degrees, that's great news if you have tickets to head to the ballpark for opening day. great looking baseball weather in the sunshine. now the front starts to move south on tuesday so this brings back the clouds and we start to see some shower chances as the

♪ it's been settled on the court. we now know the two teams that will meet for the national championship right here on cbs3 on monday night. in game one the duke blue devils made it look easy. they blew past michigan state 81-61. it was great run for the seventh seated spartans game two it was not a blow out. wisconsin pull off as massive upset. chester's bo ryan with fantastic coaching job. wisconsin ended kentucky's request for perfect season by winning 71-64. to the pros we go the sixers took a sting from the hornets. nerlins noel with a short night. left in the second quarter with a cut to his eye lid did not return. then local kid with time winding down in the fourth gerald henderson drives and hits a lay in. that put the hornets up by one.

last chance for the sixers. smith with the drive took a shot and didn't fall. sixers lost 92-91. phillies manager ryne sandberg asked his team for a solid effort ahead of monday's season opener. ben revere with a walk off homerun yesterday. today revere was back at it before the game fans needing a lift from the parking lot to the stadium had a special driver. that would be ben revere. making sure everyone got to the game on time. got there in time to see chase utley with a single up the middle. ben revere and herrara came around to score. phillies take a quick two to nothing lead. chase with a great spring. then it was ryan howard ripping one to first. the pirates botched the play. ben revere who was done driving fans in from the lot scored to make it five to nothing. still in the second inning carlos ruiz with a single through the left side her hear rah scores and the phillies won their final exhibition game, six to four. the flyers playing out the string on the road today against carolina just four more games

>> the orchestra row herred for upcoming concert with the indigo girls. this is the first time that the grammy winning folk rock what happened will perform with a youth group and the kids say they can't wait for the show. >> i'm excited. i think it's going to go really well. we've been working on the music for while. it will be great. i've never done anything before with grammy winning artist or in the realm of pop orchestra so it will be really interesting to see how it turns out. >> the orchestra performs with the indigo girls on sunday, april 12th at the kimmel sent. we'll be right back.
