avoided. rolling stones article called "a rape on campus" rocked the university of georgia in november. it's the account of a student named jackie who said she was raped by seven men at the fie kappa sigh fraternity house. it prompted the university to temporarily suspend greek activity, but the trouble for rolling stone started soonl after. details of jackie's story were called into question by others in the medial outlet. in its review column beyo found that essential practices of reporting that. columbia finds major flawing in the reporting done by sabrina rubin urgly, mainly that she did not contact jack can's friends to corroborate their story and in the interest of protecting jackie she was not thorough

when she contacted the fraternity or in trying to locate the man who orchestrated the alleged attack. >> reporter: last month charlottesville police announced a four-month investigation of the alleged rape. jackie did not cooperate with the investigation. >> that does not mean something terrible did not happen to jackie on the evening of november 28th, 2012. we're just not able to gather conclusive facts to know what that meantime. >> reporter: they conclude it may have had wide reaching issues on the campus rape meaning that it may have spread the idea that many women invent rapegations. the president teresa sullivan echoed that in the statement saying the article did not to combat sexual violence and damaged the efforts to address the serious issue.

rolling stone and urdly both issued apologies on sunday. despite the findings they have no plans to fire or suspend anyone for this story. anne-marie? >> brian webb at columbia university. closing arguments are set for this morning in the boston marathon bombing trial. the jury will then decide dzhokhar tsarnaev's fate on dozens of counts related to the 2013 attack. kris van cleave shows us the 16-day trial emotional testimony and powerful images. >> from the beginning the trial of accused marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev has been less about guilt than life or deft of the defendant. during opening argument they acknowledged he did it. judy clark has kept many bombers from execution. her strategies is that he fell under the influence of his radicalized older brother

tamerlan. much of it was caught on video. graphic video for the jury as witness after witness described the events of 2013. the jury was shown the timeline of the brothers' activities. they arrive with back packs, enter the crowd, the bombs explode and the brothers leave without the back packs. 92 witnesses testify tying the defendant to the blast and violence that follows. >> reporter: survivor stephanie gregg lost a leg. she found strength. >> that moment was very liberating for me. i was looking at the person that tried to destroy me right in the face and showing them they didn't destroy me. >> reporter: the jurors will first decide the 30 charges. if tsarnaev is found guilty the penalty phase begins. all jurors said they would consider the death penalty. this morning president obama is taking on skeptics of his

preliminary deal to roll back iran's nigh clear program. he calls the framework a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but he faces a tough job selling it to critics in congress some allies, and the american people. and it's not clear the u.s. and iran agree on the details. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. >> anne-marie, good morning. this is still a framework between now and july comes the tough part negotiators hammering out all the technical details. the president will use that time to defend the agreement while congress fights for a larger roll. >> this is our best bet by far to make sure they don't get a weapon. >> president obama continues to fight back to critics opposed with a nuclear framework agreement with iran. the president told "the new york times" the u.s. would stand by israel if it were attacked. >> if anybody misses with israel, america will be there. >> the president has been at odds with israeli prime minister
