(female announcer) cash4life from the pennsylvania lottery. play for fun. cash for life. ♪ breaking news now at 11:00. two hit-and-runs minutes apart in philadelphia. both involving small children. and tonight we've learned one of those children did not survive. good evening i'm jessica dean. chris may has the night off. that first hit-and-run happened in southwest philadelphia. then about half hour later another one in kensington. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt joins us live from southwest philadelphia with more on both incidents.

david? >> reporter: jessica such a sad story. really ban tough night for these two philadelphia families. police are still investigateing their looking at surveillance video to try to find these two drivers. this surveillance video is tough to watch but detectives say it has the clues they need to find the driver that hit and killed a four-year-old boy. we stopped the video just before the little boy is hit. and detectives want to talk to the driver of this suv. >> when i first saw it, i started getting really nervous and, you know, obviously it was really horrible thing to see. >> reporter: this woman was one of the first people on scene scene. she ran outside when she heard the commotion and saw the little boy's mother on the street. >> she was crying. horrible. >> reporter: detectives say the driver hit the four-year-old around dinnertime as the little boy crossed the busy street by himself. just minutes later and 10 miles across town, there was another

hit-and-run involveing a child. a 19-year-old mother and her two-year-old son were crossing the 2700 block of mascher. detectives say the mother was holding her son in a car seat when they both were hit. police found pieces of a health from the striking vehicle and surveillance cameras like in the southwest hit-and-run were rolling. >> we're pretty confident that we will be able to identify and apprehend both of these drivers. >> reporter: in that second hit-and-run police are looking for a new model nissan sedan chief inspector scott small said listen if these folks would have stopped and gotten out and scene if these kids were okay even if it was an accident, they would not be in the trouble that they are facing tonight. if you have any information police want to hear from you. we are reporting live in southwest philadelphia tonight david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". don't tell me what to do. i want to talk.

>> new tonight more chaos in colwyn. the outspoken manager of the delaware county borough was voted out of a job again during a contentious council meeting and that is was just the beginning. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is life in colwyn with the fallout tonight. todd? >> reporter: jessica the accusations here are flying and emotions once again have boiled over. this comes as district attorney here is investigating the borough's finances. >> you don't have nothing to -- robin you -- >> you will not intimidate me. >> reporter: screaming and shouting outside borrow hall grew so intense the pennsylvania state police were called in to back up the colwyn police depth. >> check my paper work, paula. you not going to drag me like you dragged him. >> reporter: controversial surrounds paula brown the now former borrow manager and treasurer out of a job. >> this is such a shame for the colwyn taxpayers. because there is no order in this town.

there is no control over the financial matters. >> reporter: during an executive session monday evening, council confirmed the vote to eliminate brown's position and also nominate councilman fred thresher to bore president during a couldn't 10 us in meeting thursday night was legitimate. >> the issue tonight was we eliminated the borough manager job to cut spending but brown and her allies on capitol called the vote illegal because they say the meet hemoglobin been adjourn. >> i don't like it. what can i do? i'm only one vote. i'm only one council person. >> reporter: brown locked herself in her office thursday night saying she needed to protect documents and evidence of financial discrepancies. some of it she says err in the hands of detectives as part of an an-going investigation. the borough is $1.1 million financial hole. monday night the locks on borrow hall were changed so brown could not go back in. brown says the choice to he will lip 98 her job was political. she considers herself a

whistleblower. that's something her opponents say is simply not true. reporting live in colwyn, delaware county, todd quinones cbs3 "eyewitness news". todd, thank you. we have new information tonight in the case of a jewelry store worker abducted, beaten and tased. the victim was taken from a chestnut street parking garage april 4th after leaving work. police said today they located the van used by the suspects in this surveillance video. suspect khiry gay wave his extradition from south carolina and court documents say surveillance video shows him in the store where that victim work. police say they're now searching for other suspects. the total reward in the case now stands at $20,000. investigators searched the home of a mother accused of a abandoningabandoning her disabled son in the woods. police went the home. she shares that home with her

21-year-old severely disabled son a quadriplegic who can't speak. he was found after five days alone in cobbs creek park in wet leaves just feet away from his wheelchair with nothing but a blanket and a bible. >> with the bible i guess that had something to play in it because it was guy the grace of god he's still alive. >> that woman's son is being treated for dehydration malnourish many, eye problems and an injury to his back. >> prep work begins on a five year project to replace seven bridges above the vine street expressway in philadelphia. penndot says those bridges from 18 toth 22nd streets are structurally deficient. starting at midnight through 5am tuesday all eastbound traffic on the expressway will be shut down from interstate 76 to 16th street. crews will be repainting lanes and put up concrete barrier along the shoulder for construction zone. we of course will have the traffic information you need

tomorrow morning on "eyewitness news" this morning. we have video tonight showing the moment a schoolbus caught fire in millibar, delaware. two children and the bus driver were able to escape safety out the back door on kerry's camp road this morning. authorities believe that fire was caused by a mechanical issue issue. in the meantime flames engulfed a north jersey super market. take a closer look at this view from the air. this is the sea town supermarket in south amboy middlesex county county. this fire reached four alarms. the store closed after it caught on fire back in january. the cause of today's fire is now under investigation. ♪ the 2016 presidential field is growing with two big announcementsannouncements in 24 hours. tonight republican marco rubio joined democrat hillary clinton as the newest candidates in the race for the white house. the florida senator and son of

kenneth stan sill killed ron line inside his print shop. stan sill has a tattoo over his left eye and the 20-year-old was a work study student who reported to lane. police have not released a motive for that shooting. right now kathy is in the weather center tracking some rain and also the threat of flooding kathy. >> that's right, jess. we're talking about a large area of real estate with a lot of moisture. this tapping into the gulf of mexico. so mild ahead of this cold front front. but associated with that front an area of low pressure that will cause some areas to see potential flooding. we'll talk about that plus when the rain moves out in the seven day forecast. and also knew at 11:00 stuck in a plane. an aircraft forced to make an emergency landing after someone is heard banging in the cargo hull and monthly treat box you get in the month that can be filled with beauty products to clothing.

now it stayed in this tree for nearly three hours. eventually new jersey fish and wildlife tranquilized the bear and most it back into the woods. >> last night i was just jumping on the trampoline it's kind of creepy to think it was right next to me. >> no kidding. experts say bare sightings pick up this time of the year as bears emerge from hibernation to look for food. and a alaska airlines jet takes off with a baggage handler trapped in the cargo hold. flight 448 taken off from la from seattle when pilots heard banging from down below. the cap returned to seattle and the ramp agent was removed from the cargo hold which is pressure arrived and temperature controlled. that worker reportedly fell asleep and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. alaska airlines says it's now investigating. this as new study finds air travel is getting worse for passengers. researchers more flights are late, more bags are getting lost and more customers are filing

complaints. only three of 12 airlines evaluated in the study improved in the past year. the question is who is best? well overall virgin america received the top ranking with hawaiian airlines in second place and delta rounding out the top three many complaints though jumped 22% last year. alaska has the fewest complaints complaints, frontier had the most. a warning for drivers tonight. federal safety regulators say drivers need to wash the winter road salt from the underside of their cars. the national highway traffic seive tee administration found the corrosive salt can damage the brake lines and cause the brakes to fail. the recommendation comes after a five-year investigation. well they show up at your home packed with everything from beauty products to clotheing. when you order a subscription box you're not the only one picking out the items. three on your side consume mr. reporter jim donovan hayes takes a look at one of the

the rain. philadelphia north and west between eight and 2:00 p.m. and then during the day between 11:00 and 8:00 p.m. south jersey and delaware with pockets of heavier rain an area of low pressure rides along that front you can see the rain amounts about three to four terms of an inch in philadelphia. less as you head toward the north close to an inch south and east and this is red zone this is where we could see localized flooding. mainly poor drainage flooding and street flooding by late tomorrow and tom evening. here's that area of low pressure riding along the front. hair targeting south jersey and delaware with heavier rain. temperatures in the 60s it will be pleasant on wednesday temperatures hanging out in the 60s more of a northerly wind but plenty of sunshine. cooler for thursday. and then a chance of showers as we end the work week. now overnight tonight increasing clouds. rain arriving by day break he is officially north and west the high temperature around 54 degrees. tomorrow a mild day. a couple of degrees above average. the high 65. rain mainly in the morning. clouds in the afternoon.

his grandfather donald spieth held from bethlehem and a long long-time conductor of the lehigh valley chamber orchestra perhaps that's his putting stroke. nice rhythm. his parents sean and chris spieth raised the lehigh valley and graduated from saucon valley high school and proud of their son. >> it's an unbelievable feeling. it's kind of hard right now he wanted so bad toll come back right away after last year, you know, and find a way to win. and we all -- we all believed but to lead all the way through is just that much more special. >> as we said earlier you could see jordan on the late show with david letterman just a few minutes. we'll be right back.
