construction starting this morning, until 5:00 a.m. the eastbound is closed from 76 to broad street. you have to use the benjamin franklin ben franklin parkway tomorrow, westbound closed, so we have to deal with alternates from midnight until 5:00 a.m. as they start off this four year long-term construction, this week. we take to you 95 right now southbound at girard, construction taking out the right lane right now traffic is flowing, around that, volume looking pretty good. early in the game here, speeds down to 27 miles per hour on 95 and south philly lit bit 55 out of the northeast looking good into new jersey, 295, the turnpike, running at the speed limit at this hour. we have accident on the 422 westbound off ramp, to oaks, so just keep that in mind early this morning also, westbound on the pennsylvania turnpike at valley forge construction on the on and off-ramps. no reported delays on mass transit. that's a look at your ride. ukee back to you. >> jd, thank so much. in the news allege developing

right now two, separate hit and runs both involving children in philadelphia. first happened in southwest philly then half hour later another one in kensington. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo is live at the first scene in southwest philadelphia where a little boy was struck and killed. >> jan? >> that the tasha, ukee, as you mentioned philadelphia police still investigating both of these hit and runs that happened yesterday in philadelphia. this scene is where that deadly hit-and-run accident happened in southwest philadelphia, this is the 1600 block of 57 street, we're told by police a child had emerged on to the street where the car is. was hit and killed in the middle. now take a look surveillance video captured the terrible moment and suv hit this child we've paused that video before impact. but police want you to take a good look at the vehicle involved. that is black suv that police say, fled north on 57 street. the four year old boy who was hit died after he was taken to children's hospital. now, police say he was

crossing the busy street by himself. later in the evening in kensington, there was another hit-and-run involving a child. this time police say a young mother was caring her two year old in a carseat across the 2700 block of mascher street when both were hit. police found pieces of the striking vehicle's headlight on the scene and surveillance cameras were rolling capturing a new err model four-door white nissan sedan. take a listen. >> from witness, we have pretty good description of the vehicle, they believe 2014 new err model nissan four-door white in color. and after striking the mother and son on mascher street, the vehicle then made right turn and was last seen west on lehigh avenue. >> now, the mother and young child who were injured during that incident are still in the hospital last list in the critical condition. police say the mother is expected to survive. no update on the young child

this morning. in the meantime, anyone with information about either of these cases is asked to call police. we are reporting live in southwest philadelphia, this morning, jan carabeo cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> jan, thank you. police are investigating a overnight shooting in north philly. just before 1:00 a.m. a man was shot in the leg at the intersection of north 22nd street and west susquehanna avenue. he's been taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. police do not have a suspect or a motive at this time. just a short time ago stabbing on ridge avenue in north philly. a 56 year old man was stabbed multiple times in the back and fails. he's been taken to an area hospital is and is expected to survive. so far no arrests. >> if you don't tell me -- >> i don't want to talk. okay? >> anger outside a council meeting after it votes to eliminate the job of borough manager paula brown. this comes as a delaware county district attorney is investigating the borough's

finances, now over $1.1 million in the red. last thursday brown locked herself in her office saying she needed to protect documents, and evidence, of financial discrepancies. >> this is such a shame for the taxpayers, because there is no order in this town. there is no control over the financial matters. >> the "issue tonight" was we eliminated the borough manager job to cut spending. >> brown says her job was eliminated because she's a whistle blower. her opponents say that's not true. >> happening today, the jury in the colorado movie theater shooting could be finalized. james holmes accused of opening fire during a screening of the dark knight rises in 2012. suburban colorado judge says i expect the 12-person jury to be seated today. holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, and opening statements are set to begin later this month. >> a man sentenced to death in the killing after baby and her grandmother in king of prussia says he's so unhappy with his

attorneys, he would rather be executed than continue working with them. rag oo accuses his lawyers of not responding to his calls or letters. he said yesterday montgomery county court to his appeal continues to go the same way he would rather be executed immediately. the judge called the statement, quote, a little dramatic. oklahoma reserve sieve -- reservist, authority charge 73 year old bob bathes with second agree manslaughter. investigators say, bathes meant to taser i can harris, not shoot him during a gun bust. >> there is no way an officer can get this confused for this. >> my brother is now in heaven with the lord because of these violent men. >> the harris family also says they do not think race had anything to do with the shooting. they just want to know why a 73 year old was allowed to be a reserve deputy.

and classes resume today at a north carolina community college where a campus print shop director was gun down. meantime police are still searching for the suspect kenneth morgan stance he will the third. police say he killed his former boss with a rifle. yesterday's shooting prompted a lockdown. the school canceled classes. also, philadelphia police located the van used by the suspect in the abduction of jewelry store worker. the victim was taken from a chestnut street parking garage on april 4th after leaving work. she was beaten and tazed by her abductors suspect kyree gay waived his extradition from south carolina and court documents see surveillance video shows him in the store where she worked. police are searching for other suspect at this time. the total reward in this case now stands at $20,000. investigators search the home after mother accused of abandoning her disable son in the woods. police went to the home of

a developing story this morning, the search for two hit-and-run drivers a four year old boy was killed, about 6:30 last night on south 57th street in southwest philadelphia. about half hour late area 19 year old mother and her two year old son were hit on mascher street in kensington. they are recovering at a hospital right now. >> off initials colwyn delaware count have i eliminated the job of borough manager. they say it is a cost-cutting move, but former manager paula brown says it is because she is a whistle blower. she lock herself in her office last week saying she wanted to protect documents. >> and prep work begins today on center city philadelphia's vine st. expressway over the next five years, seven bridges will be replaced. you can expect traffic issues. >> well, new numbers are out and americans are spending a lot more money on prescription drugs. >> well, money watch's jill wagner joins us live this morning from the new york stock exchange, what's the reason for this increase?
