"eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson is live with more steve. jessica and chris, if you can believe it, it started with this, one man's desire to take a picture of some deer that he thought he saw in the wood behind me but philadelphia police say what he found was far more important and what he did may have saved a life. >> every time i talk bit, tears come to my eyes. >> reporter: tuesday, we asked hospital worker fitsroy anderson to retrace his footsteps but nothing about this walk is easy. >> it was a sad day, very sad. >> reporter: on friday anderson spotted a pair of deer in this section of the cobbs creek park and was going to take pictures. but instead he discovered a discarded wheelchair and next to it something wrapped up in a blanket, when he moved witt his foot, it moved. >> i saw something move. i jumped back. i said my god. >> reporter: police say anderson led them to the discovery of the 21 year-old quadriplegic man with special

need and cerebral pause hi who had been left to die this week police add add tempted murder tore a growing list of charges facing nia parlor accused of deserting her son before traveling to visit her boyfriend in maryland. for five days he laid here without food or water unable to plea or called for help in raining temperatures that plumet todd 30 degrees. philadelphia police lieutenant john walker says anderson came not a minute too late. >> if it wasn't for him there is in doubt this kid would not have survived or we wouldn't have found that kid. >> reporter: for anderson this will always be a painful walk but what he is still able to take knowing that he did the right thing. >> at least i saved a life and that is a good thing. i'm very proud, to save a life. >> reporter: parlor has yet to be arrested object charged. she remains in the hospital in maryland seeking medical attention. when she is released she will face charges, in philadelphia, for attempted murder. but philadelphia police are telling us she may be there

for the next five days, at least. that is latest from southwest philadelphia, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". steve, thank you. well, we had to get through some showers and clouds today but good news is that the sun returns tomorrow. meteorologist kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck with that and more in your first forecast kathy. >> thank goodness chris, this dreary weather will come to an end but good news it is relatively dry you this the philadelphia area so any afternoon or evening activities, are a go, south jersey and delaware a different story. we have some heavy rain to talk about really focused through parts of the cumberland county, cape may county and central and southern delaware. you will see pockets of yellow and orange heavy downpours and they are come to an end this evening. heavy amounts throughout the day in places like georgetown and dover, cape may over a half inch, millville .4 and you can see in wilmington only a tenth of an inch of rain.

additional rain a few spritzes in philadelphia that is just about it. less than .2 in south jersey but extreme south jersey and delaware we are talking about up to a quarter inch of rain additional throughout the evening period. the sun will come back tomorrow. temperatures will be up and down, we will address that in the seven day. weekend showers possibility we will talk about that coming up later in the broadcast when i join you inside. >> kathy, thanks very much. $30,000 could be in your pocket if you could help solve two separate hit and runs that took place last night. first was in southwest philadelphia, that one claim the life of the four year-old boy. then another in kensington a 19 year-old woman and her young son were critically hurt there. to search for two suspects. two kids, two neighborhoods and two cars that never stopped. >> i seen him just laying there, it was sad. >> so god bless the the mother, and rest of the siblings, don't wish this on nobody. >> reporter: families are holding each other closer in two sections of the city, on the 1600 block of south 57th street a growing memorial marks the spot where a four year-old was struck and killed monday after darting out from between two parked cars. we cannot show you rest of this heart break surveillance video but what it does show is a a dark colored ford edge model year 2011 through 2014. >> what is unique about the vehicle it has a all a chrome front, picture an all chrome front and 1 inch going from the front to the back which means it is some kind of a costume made vehicle. >> reporter: as one street mourns another held its breath as a separate hit and run happened a half an hour after the first this time in kensington. >> so the 19 year-old mother

and two-year old were struck by a vehicle at masher and lehigh. that vehicle took off. >> in that kensington case, police are looking for a white, newer model acura or infinity with front end damage. on the 57th street case police are looking for 2011 through 2014 dark colored food edge with a chrome stripe running from back to front there is a a $30,000 combined reward for any information that would lead to an arrest anyone with that should contact police. reporting live in front of the police headquarters alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". developing right now fire tears through a home in pottstown, montgomery county. fire fighters battled those flames on the 400 block of chestnut the street and they found heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of the house when they got there around 1:30 this afternoon. we now no one person suffered minor injuries but the cause of that fire is still under investigation. seeking answerness a high

profile murder investigation. >> sons of the cooper hospital ceo john sheridan and his wife joyce, are stepping up their criticism of the report on their parent's violent deaths. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan joins us live from camden with more now cleve. >> reporter: chris and jessica former ceo of cooper health john sheridan son mark sheridan first wrote a letter and now speaking out saying death investigation for his parents was sloppy and miss guided from the start. john and joyce sheridan's children reject authorities conclusion that their father kill his wife and himself last september. >> we had no idea what happened. >> trust me, i wish i were in charge of this investigation. >> reporter: mark sheridan one of the couple's son hoist a lawyer sent a letter to the somerset county prosecutor's office. he claims they botched the investigation saying your office set out to prove the prepennsylvania mature conclusion of the its investigators. >> it never conducted or even performed even the basics of

an investigation. all they did was try to prove it was a murder/suicide. >> reporter: last month the prosecutor's office concluded from stab wound that the john sheridan killed joyce sheridan and thereafter committed suicide. sheridans had their own autopsy done by doctor michael bad even who says john sheridan's wound were not self inflict, supporting possibility that both were murdered. prosecutor's only comment is that he stand by the investigation. >> if you are not the a family with resources and education, and wherewithal to fight this fight, i don't know how you ever get a fair shake from those people. >> reporter: today cooper health system says they will not comment on the sheridan's death investigation the family hasn't given up hope in finding the real killers. they are prepared to offer a $250,000 reward for any information that leads to a conviction. live from camden, i'm cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> cleve, thank you. a new jersey law maker is

taking aim at swatting and he has become a victim himself. democratic assemblyman paul moriarty has been pushing for stiffer penalties for people who call 911 sending police to peoples homes for no reason. he thinks he may have been targeted as a result. police showed up at his home this weekend after getting a report of the shooting that never happened. >> i walk out the front door there are, i don't know, six police cars, a dozen police officers with their shotguns aimed at my house wearing helmets and flack jackets. >> there was another swatting incident on saturday in florence township burlington county. philadelphia's public school students are having their say in the fight for funding. >> when you fund a school, you fund a community and between racial. >> reporter: today city officials launched student speak campaign a video and writtenes say contest then couragees students to make their voices heard when it comes to school funding. prizes include a apple watch, tickets to the eagles home opener and publication of

their work in the daily news. for the second time this month a large cargo ship runs a ground in the delaware river. this ship got stuck in the route of the rancocas creek in riverside, new jersey around 5:00 this morning. the boat was later freed by the coastguard. officials say they are investigating what cause that had ship to run a ground. you might remember earlier this month this ship was stranded near burlington bristol bridge. it was headed south on the delaware when it lost power, and it was also assisted by the coastguard we're told that both ships became stuck after making cargo drops. private medical information in the hand of the criminals, it is a growing threat. >> pretty scary thought. >> one story we will have right after this break. plus some safety concerns over shrinking airline seats. could the lack of leg room put you at risk? the path path? >> reporter: on this 150th anniversary of the assassination of president abraham lincoln there is a

a transportation department consume are panel is looking into cramped airline fees. issue is whether packing more seats on the plane could be dangerous for passengers health and safety. airlines are arguing passengers care most about low fares, a and that more passengers makes lower fares possible. they also point out they offer more leg room for a price, but that most passengers aren't willing to pay for it. a new study from the american medical association suggest that your private medical information is under threat. it shows that almost 30 million health record nationwide were involved in criminal theft or data breaches, over four years. the the compromised information included names, ages illnesses, address is,

pictures to show you but bill is sending this in from philadelphia, just a gray day. what else can you say. walter says in delaware yes, this is weather for the ducks. but on the bright side look at what eileen sent in, yes blooming, good day anytime you see spring flowers it has got to be a good day. it gets better. tomorrow sun returns. take a look outside where we are seeing we have i rain down the shore, ocean city, cape may county some downpours don't worry, they will be ending this evening. it is a much different story inland. live neighborhood network takes to us lower merion high school where it is cloudy but we can have practice tonight, going on right now temperature 61s wind is calm, so no issues as we getaway from south jersey and delaware where heavier rain is falling. a few spring unless philadelphia 60 degrees. wilmington 57. dover we have some showers and 52 millville the same. in atlantic city, it is 56 degrees and rain showers falling. the elsewhere we are looking

at temperatures in the 60's which is normal for this time of the year. look at these doppler radar estimates. you can see lehigh valley, reading, philadelphia not much rain. the tenth here or there. some more consistent showers heading toward south jersey but really heavier rain right through south jersey through cape may county, cumberland county in a line toward dover and south where we have had an inch of rain and another quarter inch of rain is possible right through evening, and that is focal point for showers. as far as precipitation, well, take a look at this, tomorrow no chance. thursday, still not even a light chance. friday 50/50 and we will see a few showers possible, for your saturday but just a few showers. the this is a set up as we work our way through tomorrow, this area of lose pressure moves away. sun returns. temperatures around 7o more northerly wind component. high pressure slides east, on shore flow kicks in and we will cool it down. we will have some sun but thursday you'll see temperatures in the 60's and

then bump it backup but threat of the shower on friday as another area of le pressure moves on south. this is time of the year we can get an easterly win ruining a perfectly good weekend and that can happen right through in month of june. keep an eye out for that. that is a decent weekend. overnight we will see showers coming to an end cloudy and cool low of 47. during date tomorrow high 70, just a nice day to be outside, in weather issues. thinks how it will be laid out. 8:00 a.m. 51. sixty-eight by 2:00 p.m. and then starts to cool down. by eight we are looking at 60-degree temperature which is pleasant. on the exclusive seven day forecast, thursday cool friday we will warm it up with the chance of the shower. saturday looks pleasant with a a shower lingering, sunday g rain likely on monday. tuesday it will be breezy and cooler with temperatures in the 60's. but look at it this way there is in high in the 40's, no highs in the 50's, right. >> no highs in the 20's.
