"eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is live at police headquarters with the new details, alexandria? >> reporter: good evening. the police are in contact with the suspect in the hit and run death of a four year-old. that person hasn't turned themselves in yet but has given a kensington family hope that someone will come forward for them too. just one block from where josephine riveria and her two-year old son dave aid leash a were hit monday a family spokesperson pled for information on the driver of this white acura. >> any piece of information no matter how small it seems will make a difference to us. >> reporter: witnesses say riveria jumped in front of her toddler to try to grab him. both were hit by a car. that child is still in critical condition. >> just so tragic and hard to see a two-year old injured in such a significant way. >> reporter: young life was cut heart breakingly short in a separate hit and run that also happened monday. this one on south 57th street four year-old abdul wilson was

concern and it comes at the same time that hundreds marched in philadelphia today demanding an increase in the minimum wage. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is live in center city with the details on both todd. >> reporter: chris, right new is there a power struggle between the city and the state, and employees and business owners, who are caught in the middle. employee rights were at the heart of the protest throughout center city many here arguing for wages to be set at $15 an hour and for greater respect. many we talk to are upset to learn that the state legislators are trying to overturn the city paid sick leave law. >> i think that it is in better care for my son then his mountain mother's care. i feel like i should be able to miss a daze of work and get paid for it. >> this is about the big guys pick ing on the little guys. >> reporter: councilman bill greenly push for the new law in the city requiring companies with more than ten employees to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours an employee works.

he contend the bill protects low income workers who need it the most. >> there has been more and more evidence around the country that this earned paid sick leave does not have an negative effect on the economy. >> reporter: state senate passed a bill that would overturn the paid sick leave law set to take effect next month. it was sponsored by a republican senator from altoona and has also received some support from democrats. he says that philadelphia's law lacks common sense. >> i also hear from small businesses, that they cannot operate under these circumstances. this is a big over step by g to dictate to them to operate their business ifs they can do it. >> reporter: the governor's office says governor tom wolf supports philadelphia's paid sick leave law but they stopped short of saying whether or not he plans to veto the bill in the senate fit reaches his desk. reporting live tonight from center city todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

>> todd, thank you. fire fighters tackled a threatening brush fire in buckingham bucks county today. chopper three over the scene as brush, rubbish and tires burn near forest grove ape stack ton road late this morning. fire fighters were able to get those flames under control quickly and in one was injury. a red flag warning is posted today. the these current weather conditions could make any fires difficult to fight. the meteorologist cat i orr is live on the skies deck with more on why that is and also kathy, some changes on the horizon. >> yes, some good changes and not so good we are talking about mild conditions, breezy conditions, and dry conditions and that is why we have that red flag warning in effect until 7:00 tonight. this is area we're talking about through philadelphia to the north and west and you can see areas in central new jersey as well and that is just because it is so dry. we have a enhanced fire risk and possibly later this week as he will. the this is why. risk factors are windy conditions with gusts to

a welcome to new jersey bass pro shops just opened up their first store in the state in atlantic city. >> local officials are hoping that this new store will be a big boost to their economy. "eyewitness news", new jersey reporter, cleve bryan is live in atlantic city at the grand

it will be a fun filled evening in atlantic city. live from atlantic city, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks very much. local non-profit group that repairs and rebuilds home for low income homeowners is celebrating a milestone today. volunteers are rebuilding together philadelphia, the organization's 100 house in the mantua neighborhood. the west philadelphia house was one of 11 homes that they complete today and that house received plumbing and new flooring. >> so many low income homeowners are living in dilapidated houses and we are just so happy to be here and be able to bring all of the volunteers here and to get a lot of work done. >> rebuilding together philadelphia will continue to repair homes in the neighborhood, on saturday. today philadelphia police honored a slain officer with a hero plaque dedication the plaque for police officer william henry powell, was kill in the line of duty in 1960, he was with the sixties trick when he was fatally shot in

northern liberties. three men were later quick for his murder. powell was a two year veteran at the time of his death. his is 115th plaque dedicated to police officers kill in the line of duty. well, brand new work out equipment for police k-9s was unveiled today. dogs gave a demonstration of how it is all used. $17,000 worth of agility equipment the system and equipment was donated by the cal and lucille rudman foundation. k-9's from philadelphia and 20 other departments from around the delaware valley will train a at that facility. what a nice day for the the dogs to be out. >> yes. >> and people too. >> that is right. >> you can enjoy sunshine for sure. >> beautiful day, cloud rolling in. we have had some cooler air that is going to sneak but wait until the weekend that is what i'm excited about. we're talking about conditions up and down through most of the the rest of this week. take a look outside where it is a beautiful day on the board. ocean city cape may county
