♪ >> breaking right now at 11:00 a police officer has been hit by a car in montgomery county. this is just in video of the scene in pottstown on high street near mosier road. police say this officer was conducting a traffic stop when the driver took off and hit the officer. witnesses tell "eyewitness news" a second officer opened fire on that vehicle as it sped off. that driver is now in custody. the officer has been taken to

the hospital but no official word on his condition. also, just in to our newsroom tonight this surveillance video never seen until right now. it shows the car a white infinity involved in a kensington hit-and-run that killed a two-year-old and also injured his mother. eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is at the accident investigation district with more on this brand new video. diana? >> reporter: chris and jessica, tonight police are hoping that this video will lead them to the car and the driver response al for the death of two-year-old david a white infinity. there were believed to be two men inside at the time. tonight david's mother is out hospital and a neighborhood is in mourning. this is first look at new surveillance footage white infinity police believe mode down a to do her and his mother. the video shows a look at the cars drivers side window and then it can be seen from afar speeding around before and after the crash.

>> happy kid. running up and down, um, just -- he was known. he was full of life. full of life. >> reporter: two-year-old david succumb to his injuries after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver crossing mascher street with his mom monday evening in front of the family's home. >> sad moment fort family. hard for a mother to lose child. if you have children of your own you definitely understand. you know, if there's anything i could have done differently literally push the kid out of the way and jumped in front of the car for him. >> christopher gonzales and his girlfriend driving by moments after the car struck the family and sped down lehigh avenue. they immediately stopped to help help. >> sever people helped us put the mother in the car. >> they rushed david and his 19-year-old mom to a nearby hospital. the woman who's injuries are visible outside her home thursday is mourning her son taken off life support. many in the neighborhood lighting candles at this memorial. they have a plea for the two men driving the white four door 2007

infinity police are looking for. a sun roof and damage to the driver's side health. >> turn yourself in. >> do the right thing. >> turn your elf in. because if it was vise versa you had a child you would want the same thing. please just turn yourself in. it's the right thing to do. >> reporter: $20,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. we're live in north philadelphia diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> diana thank you for that. >> meanwhile the suspect suspected driver involved in a southwest philadelphia hit-and-run remains free tonight. police say that they know and have made contact with the woman who hit and killed four-year-old abdul wilson on monday night but she has not yet turned herself in. we are tracking rain tonight that could change your plans for tomorrow. meteorologist kathy orr is live outside on the cbs3 sky deck with the latest track and the timeline. kathy? >> right now, jess it's just

mostly cloudy. the rain is closing in on the delaware valley. it's already making its way through the poconos and into the lehigh valley. take look at storm scan3. you can see the clouds have rolled in and the rain moving on eastward and it will be impacting the day tomorrow in a couple of different different ways. first, overnight those showers move in and we'll see some steady rain for your morning rush. maybe even some thunderstorms by the afternoon. let's take look at this timing now the rain moves in between now and 2am through the upper and then lower lehigh valley between two and 3:00 a.m. northern and western suburbs in philadelphia. and between about three and 4am through south jersey and delaware so as that morning rush gets going we'll be seeing the steady rain by 7am as we continue our future weather you can see the pockets of heavier rain moving through. we'll catch a break in the lehigh valley at 7:00. you can see through reading and also allentown temperatures in the 50s. some showers still through the philadelphia area in south jersey philadelphia at 55 at 7am. vineland at 57. coming up we catch a break midday.

more rain friday afternoon storm potential coming up the warmest day of the year an soaker in the seven day. we'll talk more about when i join you inside. >> kathy, thank you. a dangerous fall a life in danger an man who stepped in with heroic actions. we have incredible video to show you tonight of what happened when a south philly man fell on to septa train track. >> 6:45 p.m. on wednesday at the 15th street station on the market frankford line. a man walks into frame on the security camera and almost immediately we see him fall on to the tracks. within moments a stranger jumps on to the tracks to help, others run to alert authorities while another group works to pull the men off the tracks. tonight septa authorities call the good samaritan a hero. but they also remind riders of the safest way to help someone in danger isn't what we recommend is that if some somebody sees an emergency in the track area to immediately

notify the cashier or hit the emergency box which goes directly to the transit police. >> reporter: cashier can signal incoming trains to stop. both the victim and the good samaritan were treated for non-life threatening injuries. >> amazing. a portion of the vine street expressway is closed right now for construction. the eastbound lanes of the 59 are closed from the -- from the schuylkill to broad street for concrete barrier work. it is scheduled to reopen at 2:00 a.m. we've got a warning now for drivers on the pennsylvania turnpike. state police are going to unusual lengths to catch speeders in work zones. new at 11:00 "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones shows us what police are doing and why. >> reporter: two turnpike workers recently killed and the goal here is to get drivers to slow down but drivers may not like the way state police are planning to go about it. >> starting next month these public service announcements will start airing on tv the

fictional account mirror real life. in june a worker was killed by a truck while working on a turnpike in chester county. and in 212 another worker died as result of a chain reaction accident while he was picking up debris on the highway. >> motorists see just the construction vehicle they will not slow down. >> reporter: that thought is exactly why state police will now start sitting in construction vehicles with radar guns while another trooper waits down the highway. hiding in plane sight so to speak to catch drivers speeding through construction zones. >> we asked drivers what they thought. >> it's probably a good idea. >> if it's for safety reasons yeah. that's fair enough. >> deceptive is a good word. yeah. don't be sneaky about it. >> drivers who get caught going 11 miles an hour over the speed limb in turnpike construction zones face possible fines of $200 plus a 15 day suspended license. and for drivers who don't like the idea of troopers sitting in

construction vehicles with radar radars corporal david web says it's really not that different from how it's normally done. >> for the most part you will not see us until it's too late any way and sometimes you will not see us even in a marked car. >> reporter: cam opinion by the pennsylvania turnpike commission is really designed to remind drivers that the speed limit through construction zones on the turnpike is 55 miles an hour. roaring from king of prussia todd quinones, cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> in other news tonight suspects in the beating of a gay couple in center city philadelphia will stand trial on charges of aggravated assault. today judge denied a motion to dismiss charges against philip williams catherine knot and kevin who are began. the three were alleged to have been part of a group that got into a fight with that couple near 16th and chancellor last september. some in the group allegedly directed gay slurs at those men. and one of the victims suffered severe facial fractures. new tonight, prosecutors have charged a gloucester county

pastor with sexual assault. franklin township police say james simmons began sexually abuseing a woman when she was 17 years old and the abuse continued for several years. that alleged victim is now 21. police say simmons is a pastor at the new life in christ ministries in malaga. he surrendered to police and bail was set at 150 to us son dollars. thousands of fugitives across the country including more than 80 in new jersey are now off the streets after a six week long initiate tiff to reduce crime. the nationwide operation led by us marshals teamed up with the camden county police depth. you're looking at video particular u.s. marshall service. camden is one of seven cities across the country that benefited from this initiative. >> removing that very very small percentage of people that are committing the majority of the violent crime you can start to change the dynamics of neighborhoods. >> nationally operation vineland

reduction made more than 7100 arrests including 750 gang members. oklahoma lawmaker tonight wants changes made to tulsa reserve deputy program following the fatal shooting of a suspect now and the training records for that volunteer deputy rob bates charged with manslaughter are under scrutiny. bates claims he accidentally fired his handgun at the suspect believing it was in fact a stun gun. the tulsa world now reports some supervisors at the sheriffs office were told to forge bates training records. >> what we were told is that the supervisors were told to sign off on 250 hours of training. most of that he did not have virtual all of that he did not have. the supervisors at the gun range were told to sign off on his handgun qualifications even though did he not qualify. >> the newspaper reports that three supervisors who refused to sign forged records were

reassigned. the sheriffs office is denying those allegations. a florida man arrested for landing his gyrocopter on the us capitol lawn appeared in federal court today. 61-year-old doug hughes is charged with violating restricted air space and operates an unregistered aircraft. the judge a loud hughes to return home to in order when he'll be under house arrest. hughes was interviewed by the secret service in 2013 but they decided at that time he did not pose a threat. >> there's going to be a lot people at the table answering questions here. everyone from faa to military i think you'll have capitol police, secret service as well had there hands in the stew pot here. >> hughes says he did all of this to draw attention to the need for campaign finance reform reform. if convicted he faces up to four years in prison as well as fines fines. new tonight trapped and desperate for help. hear the frantic call to nip 11 from the person trapped inside of the cargo hold in this plane. >> kathy.

>> right now we've got the 911 call from an alaskan baggage handler who fell asleep on the job and wound up trap in the cargo hold of a plane. >> 911. >> hello, i'm trapped in this plane and i caught my -- i'm in this plane. >> you're where? >> i'm inside the plane. i feel like it's moving in the air. >> he was right.

it was in the air. the alaska airlines flight was bound for la from seattle. no one noticed that man had fallen asleep inside. the pilot heard the man banking on the ceiling of the hold and calling for help. he was able to turn the plane around and land safely in the end that worker was not injury. a new study from the centers for disease control and prevention shows e-cigarette use is exploding among american high school students. according to the cdc in 2014, more than 13% of all high schoolers admitted using e-cigarettes. that is up just one point 5% from just one point 5% in 2011. experts are now calling for some form of federal regulation for those devices. a tour bus carrying one of the lead singers of country music group landy antebellum bursts into flames en route to a award show to dallas. the fire started shortly after that and you see how damaged

that bus was. the bus driver pulled over everyone was able to get out safely. tour manager spoke to our dallas station ktvt. >> the main thing everybody on the bus is safe. nobody was hurt and that's the main thing. we had hillary on the bus with us much she's safe. everybody is safe. we're good. >> they were head to do arlington ahead of this weekend weekend's academy of country music awards which airs right here on cbs3 this sunday night. >> a new life music and entertainment venue is coming here to philadelphia and it will housed in old building in philadelphia's fishtown neighbor neighbor. >> exciting news to live music fans. we're looking at conditions that are pretty comfortable from the city even down the shore. this is a view of course of the ben franklin bridge from campbell's field across the river, and we will stay in the 50s overnight tonight. even though some rain will be rolling in. on storm scan3 we have the triple sweep going locally and you can see some showers moving in. a few patchy showers through chester town tee and sprinkles to the west and a line just to the west of allentown reading reading and lancaster more steady rain moving through overnight. so for your early morning commute, seven eight 9am we'll be seeing the showers. then they'll be moving out. the sun will be popping out for little bit tomorrow. 61 right now in philadelphia. millville at 53. 61 in allentown. and even reading checking in at 59. fair weather high pressure will give way to some showers tomorrow morning. ahead of a cold front and i do think looking at new information coming into the weather center that it's going to be even warmer than 70. we could make it 73 or

74 degrees as warm air gets squeezed up ahead of that cold front and we'll break out in sunshine before the front moves through. it could be provideing a few thunderstorms late tomorrow afternoon as well. so we'll have morning showers. then a break. and we'll be seeing more rain moving in. scattered showers maybe even a few thunderstorms during the afternoon and heading toward the evening. but just about a tenth 310th of an inch of rain. not a lot of rain expected saturday the warmest day of the year. temperatures well into the 70s some spots pushing 80. sunday system but cooler with highs in the 60s next rain maker moves in by monday and that will be the day that we see some steady heavier precipitation. overnight, some showers moving in low temperature 56. during the day tomorrow, 70 to 75 degrees. with some showers in the morning and that again in the afternoon. here's a look how you can plan your day the morning commute especially early will be rainy. lunch time go outside. no issues. after school a few scattered

four game skid on the road taking on the nationals. a team they beat in two out of thee games last weekend. so here's hoping. long night for cole hamels. you know escobar wasting no time right there. that's going to be out of the ballpark. the nationals had take the lead. cole's six home a loud this season. freddie galvis hits a ball off the fence in right field. cole sports from first base. tied the game there. in the fifth inning cole facing michael taylor. michael hits his second jack of the season. cole now given up seven homeruns this season all solo. and in the sixth it doesn't get much better. zimmerman goes the opposite way to right. jayson werth and bryce harper score and phillies john their fifth straight game, five-two the final. the sixers season finally over. they finished with i wasn't witness wins the third worst record in the league. brett brown said he is happy the season is over and nervous about the nba draft lottery on may 19th19th.

brett says players will be coming to philly next month to start the off season program the question remains when will the fans start seeing a winning product? brett is still preaching patience. >> hope people looking at they're playing their hearts out out. it will translate into winning. i hope they see some levelly patience that will ultimately produce things that will come our way that are good. nothing is built easy. >> next season nerlins noel will be teaming up with joe well imbed in the sixers front court it took nerlins awhile to get used to the grind of the nba season he game a force on offense and defense he finished scoring eight points, two rebounds and eight blocks a game. >> i'll definitely look back it as a learning experience. we went through a lot this year. you know, with loseing many of the first games we made in and just itching for a win to continue to get better as the season progress i'm proud of these guys. they came out and fight every time we stepped out on to the
