of pratt street, officers say they spot add man armed with a gun, running from a crowd. now, police say, when the man did not drop the gun, an officer shot him in the left leg. that man is in stable condition, we're told, our justin finch on the scene and we'll get an update from him coming up in our broadcast. meanwhile, a lower pottsgrove police officer is out of the hospital after being struck by a car. it happened shortly before 9:00 on east high street, near moser road. police say the officer had pulled over a vehicle when that driver just took off striking the toss earn a eyewitness describes the scene. the guy tried to get away. he hit the cop. knocked him to the ground. and the other cop fired four, five shots at him speeding away. >> now, the suspect was injured and taken to an area hospital. the officer was treated and released. >> philadelphia police released new surveillance video in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in kensington. the video it shows a white car, police believe struck a

mother and her son in front of their home. the little boy died just yesterday, after he was taken off life support. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live at police headquarters with the latest information. jan? >> reporter: natasha philadelphia police, along with this victim's family again, are pleading for the public's help this morning. this as investigators released that new surveillance video showing the suspect's vehicle and giving a better description of t so take very close look. this is the vehicle a white 2007 infinity sedan with a moon roof. it now has a broken front headlight. this is the car police say is responsible for the deadly hit-and-run in kensington. you can see it here speeding down mascher street. now, the accident happened at the intersection of mascher and lehigh avenue on monday evening. nineteen year old josephine rivera and her son david were critically injured. josephine now recovering, and spent the last few days by her son's bedside. again, the two year old died yesterday. now, eyewitnesses who were on

scene that night can't get the terrible images out of their mind. they recall pulling over their car to offer help. >> someone gave the child to my girlfriend, and several people helped us put the mother in the car. once the child and the mother were back in the car our mother-in-law, valerie nelson, she jumps into the driver side and we drove really fast to episcopal hospital. >> turn yourself in. >> turn yourself in. turn yourself in. because if it was vice versa if you had a child, would you want the same thing. >> there is a $20,000 reward for information in this case, leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. police say this driver may have had another passenger in the car with him or with this driver. anyone with information is asked to call police. we're reporting live outside of the philadelphia police department, this morning, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". all right, jan thank you so. also, we are still waiting now for the driver involved in this deadly hit-and-run, to

turn herself into police. detective tell "eyewitness news", they have made contact with the woman who hit and killed four year old abdul wilson on monday night. >> happening today sentencing for the man who murdered an off-duty police officer raphael jones, was found guilty in the attempted robbery and murder of officer moses walker, jr. back in 2012. jones' faces automatic life sentence. his co-defendant, chance year mcfarland, now serving 20-40 years in prison for his role in the crime. also, happening today basketball tournament to honor slain philadelphia police officer, robert wilson iii. officer wilson was shot and killed last month during attempted store robbery. some temple university student are hosting the basketball tournament to raise money for the officer's family. police officers will also play in the game today at temple's university's pearson hall from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. new this morning the vatican says pope francis is

>> police involved shooting in frankford, armed man shot by police. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is on the scene to give you the very latest, justin what's the latest? what have you learned? >> good morning happened just few feet away from the frankford train and bus station here, we know that no officers, or people, were involved in this. but the man police were after was certainly hit struck once, in his left leg by an officer's bullet. crime tape, crews closing offer the 1600 block of pratt street, right by the frankford transportation center. here about 11:45 thursday night, police say, a patrol was responding to calls of shots fired on nearby akron street. the 15th district officer's pulled up to a crowd and one man with a gun sprinting away, an officer followed. >> the officer chases, has gun in his hand, tells him to drop the gun.

he does not drop the gun. officer fires one shot two, guns were recovered off that individual. the individual was shot in the left leg. >> police say, the man did not return fire, but say this is one of his weapons. which in the wrong hands could have done a lot of harm. >> it was a glock 9-millimeter, with a extended magazine that holds approximately 31 rounds, and that male also had a revolver on him. >> the revolver also set to be fully loaded was lodged in the man's waistband. >> and now this morning, two weapons off of the street that man who was shot was taken to einstein medical center in stable condition. the akron street shooting is also now under investigation. we are live in frankford justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". justin, thank you so much. a florida man meantime has been told to stay out of washington d.c. after flying his gyro cop tore on to the lawn of the us capitol. douglas houston home detention after court appearance yesterday. edward laurence has the story.

but we've got another pretty nice day on sunday, 64 degrees, little cooler obviously behind a weak front that crosses through. vittoria? >> thank you so much, katie. good morning everyone, while traveling on the majors you're going to notice very, very slick but also that slick wetness is affecting things in neighborhoods as well. as we would imagine. like take it if you are traveling in west oaklane. this is video from an earlier accident that occurred on cheltenham avenue at 19th street. this accident you will notice the vehicle turned onto its side had hit a tree in this area. and you can definitely take a look here, at the dampness that we do have on the roads. it is going to cause severe situations in regard to your commute. but it also could potentially cause severe situation for you, if you do not take it easy. so, if you are traveling in and around that area, specifically, as teams are continuing to work on that incident, 73rd avenue is your best alternate at this time. also, take a look at this, very quickly i step out of the way, nine the a right around the philadelphia international airport southbound, vehicle looks like it is spun out of control and hit the guardrail.
