>> good morning, 6:00 sharp. we have wet start around the region for our friday morning storm scan3, shows rain falling across the area, so it will probably slow you down for the morning commute. let's get right to meteorologist, katie fehlinger, to see how long this wet weather will stick around today. hey, katy? >> i would say guys, generally speaking the worse happening right now. you know we've got the brunn of this. just cold front. not full blown storm system. but this frontal boundary definitely pack ago hint of moisture to say the least here. and it is actually been brinking in some pretty steady and heavier rain, for portions of new jersey and now delaware getting hit with another steadier rounds every showers. we can show you what's happening here at the more localized level on storm scan3, and you can see that the brunt of really heavy rain at this point has now since moved out to sea. so while you are still finding some steadier rain, just southeast of i-95, between the boarders of ocean, burlington counties, for example, we are really going to see things sort of just not fizzle completely, but fizzle away

traveling eastbound, that would be the taillights there out of the area of king of prussia. more so approaching the stretch of gulph mills. i know it doesn't look awful in the shot here, but do not be fooled. if you are traveling on the eastbound side of 76, you are definately tapping the brakes even more so, because it is slick and rainy throughout your western suburbs delays on westbound side of the schuylkill, as well, approaching city avenue. so that usual pocket. also on 95, traveling southbound, throughout the construction zone to cottman and girard two bug chinks every volume there. as we continue to move forward, time wise, you will notice that the delay will continue to grow. speed censors dropping in the 30's parts of 95, for sure, even 26 on parts of the roosevelt boulevard, you have to be mindful throughout the under sections, things get dangerous. take it he is eye, no delays for mass transit. natasha? >> new this morning driver loses control slamming into tree on the west oaklane neighborhood. avenue. zero six year old man was rushed to the hospital, his condition is unknown at this time. police looking to see if the driver was un the influence at the time of the crash. >> police involved shooting, man armed with two guns shot by an officer. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is here to tell you more, justin? >> began before midnight once they arrived they saw a man running with a gun didn't get far after police shot him in the leg. >> crime tape, cruisers, closing off the 1600 block of pratt street right by the frankford transportation center. >> police say, a patrol was responding to calls of shots fired on nearby akron street. >> one man with a gun sprinting away, an officer followed. >> the officer chases, sees gun in his hand, tells him to

drop the gun. does not drop the gun. off the err -- officer fires one shot, two guns recovered off that individual. individual was shot in the left leg. the man did not return fire, but, say this is one of his weapons. which in the wrong hand, could have done a lot of harm. >> glock 9-millimeter with extended magazine that holds approximately 31 rounds, and that male also had involve err on him. >> set to be fully loaded was lodged in the man's waistband. >> one injured besides that man who was shot. taken to einstein medical center and was taken there in stable condition. we are live in frankford i'm justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks, lower pottsgrove police officer recovering from injuries after being struck by a car. it happened shortly before 9:00 on east high street near moser road pottstown. officer had pulled over a vehicle, when that driver just took off striking the

officer. police opened fire on that car. suspect was injured and taken to the hospital, the officer was treated and released. >> released new video in connection with hit-and-run that killed little boy in kensington. they are hoping this video will lead them to the car that was involved in this case. and the driver. driver would leave him or any child to die in a kensington street. >> very difficult time. >> pain turning to anger as driver responsible remains at large even day after the two year old's death. police have released this surveillance video showing the suspect's vehicle speeding down mascher street, 19 year old mother, josephine rivera, and dave, were hit coming that street at lehigh avenue. critically injured eyewitnesses rush to their aid. >> i know we to stop and help. >> christopher gonzalez and girlfriend pulled over even as others kept driving. and took the injured to the hospital. >> they're now pleading with the driver to speak with police meantime, investigators are looking for this white 20074-door infinity sedan with moon roof. the car also likely has a missing headlight. and now still visibly injured, this mother, and her family, are demanding justice for david.

murder of officer moses walker jr. on august 18th 2012, officers walker was levering his overnight shift in the 22nd police district in north philly, when he was approached by two men and shot twice. jones accused of firing the fatal shot and faces an automatic life sentence. his co-defendant mcfarland now serving 20-40 years in prison for his part in the crime. >> also, happening today, a basketball game to honor slain police officer wilson, he was shot and killed last month during attempted store robbery. some temple university student are hosting the basketball tournament to raise money for the officer's family. police officers will also play in the game today. it is at temple university's pearson hall from 6:00 until eight 9:00 p.m. >> gloucester county pastor charged with sexual assault franklin township police say james simmons began sexually abusing the victim when she was 17 years old. and the abuse continued for several years and zero alleged

>> after landing his gyrocopter on on the capitol log, doug hughes was in court yesterday, now charged with violating restricted air space, and operating an unregistered aircraft. back in 2013, hughes was interviewed by the secret service, but they decided at that time, that he did not pose a threat.

we are seeing slow-down. also seeing slow downs on the schuylkill itself. westbound, as you approach city avenue out toward gladwynn. eastbound, around the area of conshohocken, then again approaching the vine street expressway, and due to those schuylkill delays, also going to be delayed on the roosevelt boulevard, as you commute your way from broad street to the schuylkill entrance. give yourself more time. now looking at that shot, made me think make sure if you're traveling on kelly drive any of the drives that you are being extra careful in weather like this, in regard to 422 pa turnpike, 202 no major delays ukee? >> vittoria, thank you. happening today hundreds also take part in massive tree planting project at the flight 93 memorial in shenksville pennsylvania. about 22,000 seedlings will be planted over the course of two days. flight 93 of course crashed in shenksville after being hijacked on nine 9/11, memorial still under construction. developing story philadelphia police officer shoots a man caring two guns

in frank forwards. police say the man refused to drop his weapon and the officer shot him in the leg. philadelphia police release new surveillance video they hope will provide more clues in hit-and-run in kensington. police believe the white infinity struck and killed a two year old boy. philadelphia police trying to find out why car hit tree in west oaklane. a 60 year old man is in the hospital. it is 6:16. we're back in a moment.

scan3, right there. the wet roads and some fog are making for along commute this morning, and we could just see a repeat situation during the evening rush. that would mean it would be around all day katy? >> essentially, yes, probably catch little bit after break. but, you know, it will also looks like the brunt of this is coming through right now. so, both commutes likely affected but the one getting hit the hardest. >> all the same stuff we always say, you know, you want to certainly slow things down, things are definitely damp outside. we had some very steady heavy rain for the most part have since start today pull away out to satisfy. >> still scattered showers williamsport i80 central pa, that all needs to cross through. meantime here's just a snapshot of what the current radar situation is some of the rain coming down somewhat steadily. about to walk out the door, in a wilmington, for example

toward you. notice, it is picking up the slickness that you will experience on the road. and, again because we have this wet weather speed censors are continuing to drop. and delays are continuing to grow. because folks are taking it easy as they should. ninety-five southbound, delayed, out of the northeast down through to the vine. primarily around academy down through to the vine street expressway. it is the usual stuff but let's take a look at the ben franklin bridge for a second. we have construction on the eastbound side, compromising the right hand lane. traffic getting by, but it was causing a little bit after delay. you definitely, however have delay from about the mid-span toward eighth and vine, if you are headed westbound on the ben. averaging in the 30's, part of the schuylkill, not around city avenue, that's for sure. eleven on 95, 29, traveling on part of 476 around route one but no delays for mass transit. watch out for delays on the 42 freeway, natasha? >> thanks, vet tore draft developing right now, police involved shooting currently under investigation. an officer shot a man caring two guns, "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch live on the scene with the very latest

for us this morning. justin good morning. >> that the tasha, good morning, all began just before midnight, last night police were called to the shooting in the area of akron street, and pratt. a man seen in that area running from a crowd waiving a gun police tried to have that man stopped and he would not and that is when that shot was fired. let's take to you video now so you can see one of the weapons fawn on him. this is a glock 9-millimeter. don't forget there is man was pursued by an uniformed officer near that scene of akron on the 5100 block just before midnight, about 11:45 that's when the first call to shots fired came in. that man would not stop when asked to stop by police. and again the officer did shoot him one time in the leg take a listen. >> the officer fires one shot, two guns were recovered off that individual. individual shot in the left

leg. >> man did not return fire, shot once in the leg two, guns pulled from the scene on glock 9-millimeter as well as rover. both guns were loaded, that man was taken to einstein medical center, in stable condition, police now also investigating that shooting, reports after shooting rather on akron street. >> justin finch, "eyewitness news". police release new surveillance video in connection with the hit-and-run that killed a two year old boy in kensington this week, authorities released the video hoping someone, someone recognizes the car. it is a white infinity sedan with moon roof and broken front headlight. plowing say the car struck josephine riviera, her son david. the boy died yesterday after he was removed from life support. >> tracking down leads in mysterious death investigation involving a body found inside a burning car on ft. mifflin road southwest philly on wednesday.

it was burned beyond recognition in the drivers seat. a gas can was found inside the car that police say may have been the ac sell rent. >> a school bus crash in gloucester township, happened yesterday morning on crosskeys road. police say the bus was heading to the nearby camden county technical school, when it was side-swiped by an s.u.v. thirty-nine student on board the injured children were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. >> police are investigate the crash, not said whether they'll file charges. >> septa passenger jumps on to the septa tracks to save a man after a fall. all captured on tape, take a look, it unfolded during wednesday's rush hour at the 15th street station of the market frankford line. a man walked into the frame on the security camera, and falls on to the tracks. within seconds, a stranger jumps on to the tracks to help. another group works to pull the men off the tracks.
