accuse odd this crime. back in february they were called to the doctor's office in norwood on a report of the unresponsive toddler. that toddler was mason hunt who was later pronounced dead at a hospital. police say that the child was abuse by both matthews and her boyfriend. >> we believe both played a very active role in the horrific death of this young boy. >> matthews and grafton are behind bars tonight delaware county children and youth services was activery supervising mason and his brother, at the time of mason's death. well, construction worker fell some 80 feet to his death at a university city construction site today, according to fire dispatch that man fell around 8:00 this morning along the 2900 block of chestnut street. the the four two-year old worker was taken to presbyterian hospital in critical condition but died a short time later. it is unclear at this point what led to that man's fall.

is right for the organization. i felt like this was right but you've got the personal side. he is a good friend of mine. i have a lot of respect for craig. i admire him a lot. that made it tough. but in the end you have to do is what right for the organization report. >> when ron hextall wanted to come in and assess the situation sort of what chip kelly is coming in and make decisions based on seeing what this team is all about. now he will bring in new guys hopefully with a new direction and see if that works. >> reporter: every fan we spoke with at chickie and pete's agreed with hextall's move even some thinking speculation how berube handled the team off the ice perhaps the reason he is gone. >> from some of the things i have heard with, you know what he has done with mason and some of the defenseman you know when it comes to a concern, so if that was happening behind the scenes, then i think it was the right move for them.

police are searching for a driver they say hit a woman on purpose and left her seriously injured. this story is developing on the 4400 block of 17th street in philadelphia's logan neighborhood. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan is at the scene new with the story cleve.

and, it is, definitely not an accident and it happened after a long standing feud, between two women, over a man. the here's what happened. there was a crowd out here according to police around 2:00 in the 4400 block of 17th street. one of the women arguing jumps in the the white suv runs up on to the sidewalk and runs over a 24 year-old woman. we understand her leg was severely injured. they believe it was severed off. as that happens family that lives in these row houses here come outside to see what is going on. pot left on the stove and a fire then ensues. "eyewitness news" came on the scene as fire fighters were still tend to go that fire. it created significant fire damage in one of the units, and looking by appearances, the unit right next to it, also sustain serious damage. we understand that the victim with the severed leg was brought to einstein hospital. we have in the been given an update on the condition. last we heard from the detective on the scene

colleges want them to learn their fight song and mess of them will pay for it, all 109 seniors the at camden's leap academy university charter are graduating this year. all graduating or going to college, many going to college are getting paid to learn. on this wall graduating class of 20 15a combine six million-dollar in scholarships money, right here, and you can see where that money is coming from. some kid put some of the schools they were accepted to on their picture and some cases there is barely any picture left. >> it is not normal for people in this community because the spectation was a shift from college. >> reporter: gloria santiago has over even the the charter's growth for 11 years. >> education today is a civil rights issue of the dead cade. >> reporter: she oversees 1300 minority children in arguablely one of the most segregated neglect places in the the country. she said all of the kid needed were higher expectations.

>> what i said here in camden was let me create a different model and that is what i did. >> reporter: students learn for nine hours a day, 200 days a year for more than 500 scholastic hours. many argue in a crisis facing public education in camden charters are pulling more money, students, resourcees from a already established system. students here argue that they needed a new system and they are hungry to prove it. in camden steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> wow, kudos to all them, and everybody proud. also in camden a new type of kitchen opens up. >> it has a one goal and that is to help those in need. >> camden mayor dana redd, and other dignitaries were on hand to cut ribbon of the new location of cathedral kitchen to day. it is a non-profit that has served camden for nearly four decades. the the new location includes a fully operation at commercial kitchen, culinary school and new cafe. cathedral kitchen creates meals for at least eight nearby shelters and halfway

"eyewitness news" in spring garden as philadelphia school district hosted third annual prom dress give away for students. new, gently used dress were all available to help students look their best for the big dance. if you are interested is there still time, the event continues through 7:30 tonight just go to the second floor auditorium, show your school id the at the the door. a new bike share program is coming to the city of philadelphia and it starts next thursday. already, about 70 bike stations have been set autopsy cross the city. a real time map that you can access on your smart phone will show you where bikes are available to pick up or where docks are available for bikes to be dropped off. you can purchase ride by the trip, four bucks for 30 minutes or you can sign up and get a inly pass for $15 our jim donovan was out riding these bikes and said they were fantastic. >> great weekend especially tomorrow to ride a bike and enjoy spring like weather.
