>> ♪ >> breaking news right now at 6 o'clock. a teen collapses and dies during a spring workout with this football team. ryan gillyard collapsed this morning at the beginning of conditioning drills at a school facility. the school release add statement. it reads in part "ryan was a great person and someone we were proud to have as part of our community. we will do whatever we can to support his family friends ."

the prep is providing grief counseling services all weekend for anyone in our community who desires support. breaking at this hour, police have made an arrest in a violent love triangle attack that happened in philadelphia. this is video just into our news room of police taking the suspect into custody. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live outside of northwest detectives. he's got the very latest. steve. >> reporter: natasha, this morning police say a person of interest turned themselves in here to northwest detectives by this afternoon police say they announced an arrest in this case and then this evening just moments ago that suspect being questioned and taken away for processing. our cameras were rolling. in a hoodie and handcuffs detectives say this is moments after a woman went from in for questioning to being abcuesed of using a vehicle as a weapon. saturday afternoon iwitness cameras rolling at northwest detectives as the suspect was being hauled away.

hours earlier police confirmed a woman in custody after they found and recovered this white dodge durango used to run over a romantic rival. it was shortly after 2 o'clock when a woman intentionally struck berniece spencer in the 4400 block of 17th street after a fight between the two women. eyewitnesses say the blow that pinned spencer to the porch nearly severed her leg. surveillance video shows the suspect driving off with front end damage finally as spencer's mother lay with her on the street dinner she left cooking on the stove caught fire and destroyed their home. family friends call it a disaster. >> it's a disaster. it was a simple fight. >> she was just out, out of it. fortunately her mom got her to come to and then when she came to she was in serious shock. >> reporter: spencer was taken to the hospital in critical condition. her leg did have to be amputated.

in the meantime philadelphia police waiting to release the suspect's name pending formal charges. it's the latest from northwest detectives, i'm steve patterson, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> steve, thank you so much. also calls for justice tonight at a memorial service for young hit and run vic tam latif wilson. grief stricken family and friends gathered at the bible way temple in west philadelphia today. the four-year-old was struck and killed by an suv while playing with his siblings on 57th street in southwest philly on monday. the crime was captured on camera. family and friends they want the alleged hit and run driver to turn herself in. >> please turn yourself in it was an accident. you shouldn't have kept going you shouldn't have kept moving but it is what it is. you know, just be done with it. >> family members released balloons into the air in memory of the four-year-old after the memorial service. also a construction worker

is critically injured at a site in the fairmount section of philadelphia. it happened on the 1700 block of folsom street at around 10:30 this morning. police say the 30-year-old man came into contact with a live wire while working on the property. he was rushed to hahnemann hospital in critical condition turning now to our weather, an absolutely beautiful day in philadelphia and plenty of folks were taking advantage of all the sunshine out there. we shot this video earlier today at logan square. meteorologist justin drabick is soaking in some rays right now, he's live on the cbs3 sky deck with the first forecast. hey, justin. >> hey natasha still very nice outside right now nice taste of summer today. our temperatures reached the 80's so first 80-degree day of the year. this is more typical for june but at least we don't have the humidity to talk about. the official high this afternoon in philadelphia, 81 degrees. we should be in the mid 60's this time of year, so 16 degrees above average. this is the highest temperature we've had since september 29th of last year

when the temperature was in the mid 80's. right now we're at 81 in philadelphia, 80 in wilmington, 80 in allentown and reading the poconos in the mid 70's this hour and big boulder is still open. there's some people skiing on the slopes this hour in the sunshine so again very mild outside, even down the shore in the low 70's. suburbs looking good this hour, willow grove doylestown mid and upper 70's this hour. winds sustained out of the west at about 10 to 15 miles per hour with a little bit of a higher gust and with the dry conditions we still have an enhanced fire risk in effect for areas north of the city up through the lehigh valley and poconos. that goes until 8 o'clock tonight so just be careful if you're doing any outdoor burning. storm scan3 nice and quiet few fair weather cirrus clouds passing by overnight. that's about it. weak cold front slides through. it will cool us down for sunday but not a bad day. plenty of sunshine through the morning and afternoon. noontime temperature 61, 64 by

in. iraqi troops are fighting the terror group. they have managed to maintain control of the city so far but isis has captured three nearby villages. pope francis is asking the international community to do more for thousands of migrants who are making dangerous journeys across the mediterranean sea to flee war. the tailian navy rescued attorney and more than 450 migrants overcrowded bolts and brought them to sicily today. 400 from drowned. most were fleeing war and poverty in africa and in the middle east. well families who lost loved ones to crime marched through the streets of camden this afternoon calling for justice. more than 400 people gathered on state street demanding an end to the code of silence. organizers say residents in camden must be a part of the conversation in order to bring criminals to justice. and as the shuttered revel casino sits in darkness

alexandra hoff met with organizers and participants as they gear up for this very important cause. >> ♪ >> reporter: while this warm weather has the rest of us thinking about summer, this bunch is gearing up for fall. october 2nd through 4th to be exact. >> it's 24 weeks out until our event and this is when we like our walkers to start thinking about doing the training. >> three day kickoff. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: a group of over 30 met up for the susan g. komen kickoff event at the new balance store in cherry hill. they start by getting their blood pumping and go over what to wear and what to pack for the big walk. >> as a training walk leader i'm going to tell everybody whatever you use on events make sure you use in it training. >> reporter: so today everybody is doing a 3.2-mile walk just to get them started. they'll lead up to about 15 miles to get them ready for the eventual -- how much you guys are going to do,. >> 60 miles in three days. >> reporter: three days, 60 miles. for even the most seasoned

50 degrees. doug southampton 80 degrees, phil in philadelphia he had 84. lou in eagleville 80 degrees today and steven in robbinsville high temperature of 86. signs of summer. a picture from walter he's out of newark, delaware, but he took the trip down south to cape henlopen looks like he's enjoying some surf fishing this afternoon. that's what i'm talking about on this gorgeous spring afternoon. let's take you to new jersey, the shore there. live look at ocean city, the boardwalk starting to pick up a little bit. some of the businesses opened, why not. temperatures there again low 70's today in the sunshine, people enjoying a nice weekend so i'm certain -- certainly today is getting you in the mood for summer and we'll talk about this countdown coming up as far as the warm temperatures we averaged 70 degrees 14 days from now so that's some to go look forward to. memorial day just 37 days away. our average high of 80 degrees is coming up in 46 days and of course the first official day

of summer season, 64 days away. felt like june today with the high temperatures in the 80's. still at 80 degrees this hour in philadelphia. cooler near the coast low 70's but hey we'll take it. change to our north. buffalo, cleveland lower 60's. there's a cold front up here its a weak front or at least i should say dry front. that comes through tonight cools us back down to where we should be for this time of year. again through the evening hours we have some gusty winds, humidity very low less than 30 percent and the dry branches and grass on the ground so enhanced fire risk does continue through the evening hours for areas especially just north of the city. we're pretty quiet though on storm scan3 just some high thin clouds building in from the south and west. they'll move through through the overnight that. front comes in from the north but you can see no precipitation along with it. winds right now out of the west but then they shift easterly tomorrow. that means it's coming off the colder ocean that's why we're cooling temperatures back into the 60's. we get a brief break on monday. we start to see a southerly

wind flow. cold front moves through for tomorrow, easterly winds cool us back down into the mid 60's. not a bad sunday with the sunshine. warm front moves back through monday. we get the low 70's but there's going to be periods of rain especially during the morning hours, maybe even a thunderstorm into the afternoon. we cool off again for tuesday high temperatures back into the mid 60's which is average. all right, let's time thanks out for you. future weather showing nothing tomorrow but sunshine. then the clouds quickly build up on sunday night. here comes that rain. this is 2:00 a.m. monday morning. it moves in from the south and west pockets of heavy rain especially during the morning hours. 9:00 a.m., so watch out for the morning commute. could be a little bit slow with in rain and then off and on showers possible throughout your monday afternoon into monday night there. could be a thunderstorm in some spots especially south of the city. all right, let's talk temperatures. that cooler air starts to move back in. sunday's highs again typical for mid april in the mid 60's. to the north 50 in the poconos, lehigh valley berks county will be in the lower to mid 60's for highs. around philadelphia kind of the same deal, mid 60's

bottom 10 and one batter into operation come back, it's complete. josh donaldson leads off the tenth with walk off homer. blue jays win six-five. nhl draft lottery tonight at 8:00. flyers have the seventh best odds and hold a 6.5 percent chance of winning the lottery which many are calling the connor mcdavid sweepstakes. mcdavid who had 120 points in just 47 games this season for the eerie pa otters has been called by many the next sidney crosby. if the flyers don't land mcdavid they'll either be picking seventh or eighth overall in the draft and that new player will obviously have a new head coach as craig berube was fired by gm hextall because according to hextall berube wasn't get the most out of the team. so friday i asked the gm if this means a new head coach can step in and turn this team around without too many roster adjustments. >> great coach gets the most out of everybody. we've got some young players coming we've got some young players on our roster, we've got some young players in the
