meteorologist justin drabick is here to tell us when the wet weather will finally arrive. justin. >> good evening, natasha. we have some time yet with this rainstorm. looks like the next several hours stay dry. we can salvage the weekend but it comes in time for the morning commute. big difference in temperatures today compared to 24 hours ago. we're 25 degrees colder. you can feel the difference if you were outside today. here we are we're in the mid-50's currently allentown red ago little bit warmer the farther west you are away from that water. look at the suburbs low 50's this hour doylestown and in mount holly new jersey. that breeze is kicking up off the ocean, 10 to 15 miles per hour so that's what brought the change in our temperatures today but the clouds have certainly thickened up ahead of our next storm system, it's still out to our south and west buck see the initial front edge of the rain moving into the baltimore-washington area. after midnight rain moves in from the southwest and moves to the northeast. it will be heavy at times

throughout the overnight hours into your monday morning. here's the setup. basically monday morning that's going to be the worst steady rain possibly heavy at times through that morning commute. the afternoon more of a showery type deal. there will be dry times during the day during the art afternoon hours. maybe an inch to an inch and a half of rainfall. morning commute will be the worst of it, slow ride and ponding on the roads. throughout your day monday morning 8 o'clock we're waking up with rain, 58 degrees, noontime still some showers around and we're warming up in the mid 60's. we catch that break into the afternoon. we could see a little peek of sunshine temperatures top off in the low 70's but by the evening we see more showers returning maybe even a thunderstorm. again a-mild day though despite the rain, 73 for the high in philadelphia on monday. upper 60's at the shore with the wet weather and the poconos little bit cooler there around 60 degrees. we'll talk about even cooler temperatures in the seven-day forecast. now, i'll track tomorrow's rain along with me with the cbsphilly weather app.

it's free and available on itunes and google play. >> all right justin thanks. fire rips through several row homes in montgomery county forcing five families out of their homes. flames broke out on the 800 block of cone street in norristown this afternoon. and that's where "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson joins us live. steve. >> reporter: natasha, good evening. first thing want to get your eyes on the scene show you some of the restoration works in being done. take a look. eight homes affected in total three of them destroyed. displacing five families, that's 17 people out of their homes tonight. so what, if anything, is the good news in all of this? well nobody was hurt and as fast as this fire was moving, neighbors are thankful. >> i am in shock. >> reporter: in matter of moments mother of four pillar gomez watched as peaceful sunday cookout turned to fast moving yard fire. she ran when that fire leaped to their homes. >> i can't believe it, all my house is -- it's lost

everything. >> reporter: fire jumped from her neighbor's backyard shorterly before 1:00 sunday afternoon spreading to this row of houses in the 800 block of kohn street. >> a lot of black smoke. then looked like the whole entire unit was about to burn. the three alarm fire displaced 17 people including six children. gomez says her home along with three others are destroyed. she says at this point she's just glad her family is safe. >> thank god everybody is okay. >> reporter: firefighters say they have this under control by about 3:00 this afternoon. it bears repeating no injuries reported in this fire this afternoon. the red cross was scene. they are assisting all of the families that were affected in this fire. it's the latest from norristown i'm steve patterson, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> thanks, steve. also fire crews respond to what officials are calling a brush fire at a bucks county church. it happened at the restoration church in levittown.

officials say there was no damage to the building and no injuries were reported. the investigation continues into a shooting at delaware state university. that injured three people. shots rang out on the dover campus last night during an annual cookout. the victims' names have not been released. police say they were not dsu students. campus police told students to stay inside while they swept the area and nonstudents were asked to leave the campus. >> this saddens me because i know students at delaware state university. we know how to conduct ourselves properly but when you bring other people that are outside of the university and they don't know our core values and they don't know how we operate that's when it becomes a problem. >> police say the victims' injuries are not life-threatening. also early this morning, there was another shooting near the dsu campus in the area of the university courtyard apartments. no one was injured in that incident and no arrests have been made in that case just yet. police have now filed attempted murder charges against a woman accused in a

violent love triangle attack in logan. investigators say 29-year-old precious richardson coleman. police say spence and coleman were romantic rivals. docks doctors had to amputate spence's leg and coleman turned herself in to police yesterday. friends and familiar are paying their respects today to the two-year-old little boy who was killed in a hit and run last week in kensington. a viewing is under way right now at rodriguez funeral home on east erie avenue. alicea was hit while crossing the street with his mother. police have recovered the car involved in this incident but so far have not made any arrests. a somber anniversary today marks 20 years since the oklahoma city bombing.

>> ♪ bag pipes played during a procession at the memorial. 168 people were killed including 19 children when a bomb went off in the alfred p. murrah building back in 1995. now, president bill clinton spoke to the families of the victims today. >> for 20 years you have honored the memories of your loved ones. you have inspired us with the power of your renewal. you have reminded us that we should all live by the oklahoma standards. >> the event remains the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in united states history. a solemn ceremony today in center city philadelphia marking 70 years since the end of the holocaust. "eyewitness news" on the corner of 16th street and ben franklin parkway today at the monument to 6 million jewish victims. today's ceremonies honored those who died in the

concentration camps as well as the survivors who were liberate bide allied forces at the end of world war ii. thousands of runners and walkers hit the streets of philadelphia today to help raise awareness about the need for more organ and tissue donors. the 20th annual donor dash stepped off this morning at the philadelphia art museum. participants could choose from a 10 can k or 5k run or a 3k walk. there was also kid fun run for children six and under. all the proceeds from today's event benefited public education programs designed to increase the number of people who register at organ and tissue donors. two new jersey police officers spring into action to save a woman trapped in an overturned car before it burst into flames. all of it is captured on tape. that story is coming up. justin. >> well, the weekend will finish off on the dry side but the clouds are now moving in. we're tracking rain on the way for the start of the weekend. details in the eyewitness

filled with migrants head for europe capsize in the mediterranean sea. at least 24 people are already confirmed dead. the 66-foot vessel bound from libya tipped over as a merchantship was attempting a rescue. the italian coast guard is leading the rescue operation. authorities believe 700 passengers may have been on board. and caught on camera a daring rescue as two new jersey officers pull a woman from a burning car. you can see the officers kneeling right next to the vehicle with smoke billowing from the wreck in morris county. with the driver unconscious they had to act quickly pulling her out just in the nick of time. the car exploded soon after. the woman is fine thankfully but was charged with dwi. a special day for children at cooper university hospital. the blue night motorcycle group roared up to the parking

lot bearing gifts for the toy run. officials say the event always puts a smile on the children's faces. the field is reserved for football but this afternoon the parking lot at lincoln financial field was filled with food. but there was more than just good eats. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff gives us a taste of this very unique event. >> reporter: philadelphia flavor filled the lot beside lincoln financial field. >> it's a true philly event. >> reporter: over 50 food trucks worked along sides dozens of memorabilia vendors in an open air market style community gathering. >> we're doing field tours. we have kids activities like face painterring carnival games, a live live band. we have a beer, wine and spirits tent. >> reporter: the event benefits a local nonprofit called the food truck. >> our mission is to make sure that there's access to affordable nutritious food in the city and in some ways on a national level. >> reporter: the whole thing is modeled after philly's night market program where food trucks come to different

communities to bring the neighborhoods together. >> this is really geared towards families people that don't necessarily have the means to come out on a thursday night. >> reporter: so, rather than night market, welcome to flight market. an eclectic mix of new age old school, all supporting fresh and local finds. reporting in south philadelphia alexandria hoff, cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> okay, check this out. some cool video just in. this is a funnel cloud starting to form in the skies over carmen, oklahoma saturday. much of the northwest part of the state was under a tornado watch yesterday but there were no confirmed tornado touchdowns. part of that same storm system will be headed our way bringing steady rain and maybe a thunderstorm for parts of our area. the clouds are starting to move in. the wind has shifted off the ocean so that's knocking the temperatures down. yesterday at this time we were still dealing with 80-degree numbers. now we're about 25 to 30 degrees colder in the low

50's. let's check in with our weather watchers. in chesterfield new jersey ed connor has a cool 53 degrees this hour, same deal in burlington township new jersey at bob walker's house. reading dave milder away from that water we're still at 61 degrees this hour, gilbertsville eileen has 57, lower 50's in jamison this hour and down towards the shore that's the cool spot ocean city with that wind right off the water, coming in at 50 degrees at james' house. got a picture to show you sent in by i'll mean murray from gilbertsville, classic sign of an approaching storm system t filtered sun with those high thin cirrus clouds. they'll continue to lower and thicken. that's a sign a storm is on the way. let's take you to the shore where yesterday the boardwalk in ocean city was jam packed. today different stormy looks like a ghost town. cool temperatures keeping people away. give it another few weeks and we'll warm things up. sure that place will be hopping. storm scan3 the storm itself still to our south and west over the center of the can

country but you can see plenty of rain ahead of it. we're still in the clouds. we're dry so several hours of dry conditions over the next few hours many it's really after midnight where that rain starts to some of in. a warm front will push through the region tomorrow. that actually warms us up. everybody who is on the south side of the front will see 60's and 70's maybe even a little bit of sunshine. i don't think the front will get as far north as the poconos. you guys will be a little cooler. pockets of steady rain during the morning more showery type deal in the afternoon, maybe a thunderstorm we start to dry out on tuesday sunshine returns behind that system but we cool back down into the mid 60's and we continue to settle into a cooler weather pattern from the middle to the end of the upcoming week and even wednesday there could be a late day shower in some spots. time it out. now to midnight cloudy skies. after midnight rain arrives from southwest to northeast. this is 5:00 a.m. you can see that heavier rain moving into parts of northern delaware, southeastern pennsylvania, and then pockets of heavy rain indicated by the oranges and yellows, this is 9 o'clock so the tail end of

the rush hour still under the gun with some heavy rain. by midafternoon i think we catch a break, maybe a few peeks of sunshine but that will help fuel up the atmosphere a little so later in the evening when we get the front through we could see a thunderstorm in some spots with a few showers and then finally tuesday morning much better conditions, better morning commute with the sunshine around throughout the entire day. we'll be under a severe thunderstorm threat tomorrow afternoon. we're under the risk most of the delaware valley so watch out for the potential for some strong winds maybe even some small hail and certainly heavy rain if we see those thunderstorms develop at all depends if we get some sunshine tomorrow afternoon. how much rain were are we talking about? the most amounts north and west of the city. you see the blue areas here that's indicating possibly over an inch maybe an inch and a half of rain before the storm is government i mentioned the warm front coming through tomorrow. look at this. temperatures in the low and mid 70's for highs even up towards the lehigh valley not bad, mid and upper 60's tomorrow afternoon around philadelphia. we should be in the lower 70's.

little cooler along the immediate coastline with the water there, lower 60's for atlantic city. mention they had cooler weather pattern. say goodbye to it. there's a pocket of cold air that starts to build in tuesday into wednesday and then it just lingers around through the next several days all the way into next weekend. overnight the rain will arrive, it will be breezy, low of 52 degrees. tomorrow periods of rain, steadiest in the morning, then showers for the afternoon, maybe a thunderstorm high 73. the extended forecast, the sunshine returns tuesday. little cooler. we're in the 60's, maybe a shower wednesdays afternoon but by the end of the week, look at that, uner 50's to around 60 degrees. >> nice. >> that's a little below average but at least we're dry with some sunshine. >> absolutely. thank you justin. james palmer in for sports tonight. >> phillies trying to make it two in a row against the nationals but again had to face another premiere starter in what many call the best rotation in awful baseball. stephen strasburg has ace stuff but it always helps to get a little assistance from your fielders. top four no score freddie galvez fouls one off.
