♪ "eyewitness news" begins tonight with an eye on the storm. some heavy rain is starting to move through our region and is prompting some concerns for flooding. you can expect the morning commute to be a slow one tomorrow. good evening, thanks for being up late with us i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr who is in the weather center tracking the time offing this storm and the threat of severe weather. jess first we're talking about rain then we're talking about wind and even even the threat of severe weather with

hail much take a look outside we are seeing some showers and some heavier downpours in center city philadelphia our suburb. on stormier scan three a pool of moisture. all this sweeping toward the northeast you can see pockets of heavy rain moving through yellows and oranges especially to the north and the east of philadelphia this line through allentown through buck county, trenton extending toward pemberton rain rates of at least half an inch of hour all moving toward the north and east. abington seeing moderate rain light rain in philadelphia right now. the winds out of the east at about 10 to 20 miles an hour. sustained but that wind is going to get gusty come tomorrow morning gusting to at least 25, even 30 miles an hour even when you hit the road or the kids are out waiting for the bus. at about seven, 8:00 a.m. you can see pockets of very heavy rain moving across the region. and we are going to be seeing good dose of it between one and 2-inches of rain expected with our next storm. down the shore about an inch but philadelphia an inch and a half

philadelphia. sources have confirmed "eyewitness news" tonight that the quarterback is expected to ink a deal with the eagles tomorrow. >> the former heisman trophy winner hasn't played in the nfl since 2012 when he suited suited up for the jets. beasley reece joining us with more on what this moves means beesly. >> i think this guy has been cast in a mold they does not fit. and so i'm excited to see what chip kelly does with the swiss army knife tim tee bowl he will sign with the eagles tomorrow he comes to philadelphia with a mixed pro career after winning two national titles and heisman trophy and two time all american he spent time with the broncos jets and patriots. last played nnfl in 2012. has a playoff victory as a quarterback but 47-point 9% completion rate. it's another bowl move by chip -- bold move by chip. we can't jump to any conclusions because we don know how the

their toes. what do you think of this latest move? we'll talk marabou with beasley later on in sports. connect with us on the cbs philly facebook page or shoot us a tweet at cbs philly and use the hash tag cbs3 chat. break tonight two teenaged girls taken to the hospital aft being hit by a car in northeast physical. the 15 and 18 years were hit on the roosevelt boulevard in oxford circle. we know they suffered broken bones but no word on how seriously they were hurt. police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. police filed attempted murder charges against the woman accused of in violent love triangle attack in logan. investigator sauce 29-year-old precious coleman intentionally drove her suv into another woman beatrice spence and sped away. this happened friday afternoon on the 4400 block of 17th street. police say spence and coleman

were romantic rivals. doctors had to amputate spence's leg. coleman turned herself in on saturday. family and friends paid their respects today to the two-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run last week in kensington. a view was held this afternoon at rodriguez funeral home. he was hit by a car on mascher street walk wig his mother. he will be laid to rest tomorrow. police have recovered the car involved in incident but so far have not made any arrests. >> investigation continues tonight into a shooting at delaware state university that injured three people. those shots rang out on the dover campus last night during an annual cook out. the names of the victims not been released so far but police say they were not dsu students. campus police did tell students to stay inside while they swept the area. non students were asked to leave the campus. meantime early this morning there was another shooting near

the dsu campus in the area of university courtyard apartments. no one was injured there. no arrests have been made in either case. in norristown montgomery county sunday barbecue ended with a three alarm fire. fire crews rushed to the 800 block of cone street in norristown. after flames jumped to several row homes. we're told three homes were destroyed. eight others were damaged. and 17 people are displaced tonight. the good news no one was hurt. the red cross is offering assistance. a daring rescue caught on camera in new jersey. two officers pulled a woman from her burning car just in the nick of time. dash cam video shows those officers kneels kneeling next to the wreckage in morris county. smoke billowing from the car. they were able to pull that and conscious driver out of the car right britt explodeed. that woman is find but was charged with dwi. >> you saw it right here on cbs3

event of the year with luke brian. brian also taking home entertainer of the year. >> so many brought artists that we saw on the air tonight. country music as a whole has really exploded in recent years. back in the day it used to be more of a southern thing. >> true, true. now it seems like everybody is listening no matter where they are. we went behind the scenes of the doc and andy show on into .5 xtu and asked why. >> ♪ >> is the sound of philadelphia going country? maybe a little bit country and not so much rock and roll. let's not get that crazy when you look and listen there is a bit of twang to philly's music scene these days. ♪ >> may be rock is little more style. you'll get a song with a rock influence. it crosses over to everything you're looking for and something new that people are always looking for something new. i think country music has something great to offer.

>> so what gives? why are philly people really flocking to country music? >> country music is such a blue collar kind of music blue collar kind of city. it's kind of been said a few times other genres are the weekend. country music or nine to five getting ready for friday. philly can relate to that. we sure can. >> ♪ >> for andy a life long fan it's about familiarity. feeling like you know the artist and just what they're talking about. isn't it's a lifestyle. >> not the country bumpkin lifestyle but the songs that are artists are singing about pretty much the lives we're all living. >> we can definitely relate. but how did we start listening in the first place? many point to berks county own taylor swift. ♪ >> i think she was one of those people who really opened the door for people who really had no pallet for country music before. >> they started with garth brooks back in the '90's and slowly we've seen the transition transition. i think with every new country

you underestimate country music at your own peril. >> from one incredible scene tonight from an amazing scene at target across the country. it looked like black friday shopping but in this case the crowds lined up for the roll out of a limited edition collection from the clothing sign sixty two they are lilly pulitzer. the products flu off the shelves and we're talking about in an instant. online shoppers were had problems grabbing items. target had to take down their website to slow down the traffic. they did later apologize for the inconvenience. but what a sensation that was. >> serious shopping. >> very impressive. outdoor market takes flight outside of lincoln financial field. >> "eyewitness news" at the linc today dozens of food trucks worked alongside memorabilia vendors for an open air market there. the event is modeled after philly's night market this one benefits the local non-profit the food trucks and helps make nutrition food available throughout the city and a nice time to have it because now they'd be wet if they were

outside. >> it's about 20 degrees cooler right now. than last night at this time. >> yeah. big switch. in the weather. that's for sure. the rain is here tomorrow morning it's going to be a slow go to the commute. at the bus stop you'll need the rain gear. because it will be soaker for the morning and we have some issues for afternoon. take a look outside we do have some rainfalling. this is the view from campbell's field across the delaware noon philadelphia. on storm scan3 all moving up from the south. and the west. rain heavy at times expected through the overnight. right now we're ceiling some light rain through philadelphia but you head up the i-95 corridor you see that rain progress you through trenton pennington through plumstead and all this is moving toward the northeast. so waves of heavy rain expected overnight and through tomorrow morning. right through at least about 10am. right now it's still fairly mild. philadelphia 49. 50 in millville. allentown at 50 degrees. temperatures not changing too much overnight with the rain,

the clouds and the wind mixing atmosphere. you can see to the south washington at 55. state college steady at 49 degrees. future weather shows the rain moving across the region. heavy at times right through the morning rush and then we catch a bit of a break. as a matter of fact, around the lunch hour the sun comes out. it will be beautiful and temperatures will warm and you'll think okay it's over. but it's not. the cold front moves through in the afternoon. and between about 6:00 and 9:00 we'll see a line of showers, some um he had bedded thunderstorms some could be severe moving across the delaware valley please keep that in mine. so here is the day in a nutshell. morning rain heavy at times an inch to an inch and a half. midday break witness sun and then between six and nine that is our storm threat. ponding on area roads in the morning and where those storms pop up in the afternoon. that severe threat that slight risk of severe weather encompasses the entire region witness exception of the poconos definitely downpours and thunderstorms lightning, some gusty winds and even the possibility of hail moderate risk of that but no threat of tornadoes that is the good news. not everyone will see severe

storm. but they could be out there. so that is just the warning. you can see the warm front moves through in the morning. that's the first wave. we get in that warm sector and warm up. cold front moves through and behind it skies clearing on tuesday. cooler again with highs in the 60s wednesday watch another front approach see showers through the work week. overnight the low 52. with a rain heavy at times during the morning. morning rain afternoon storms of the the high temperature 73. this the way the day will play out. 8am rain. noon the sun pops out pleasant for 2:00 p.m. even 5:00 o'clock but those evening games perhaps lacrosse tee ball maybe even soccer you may get caught in a downpour. so please keep an eye on our app cbs philly. and take a look at the seven day. tuesday, 68. cooler wednesday thursday, 60. cooler friday. the high only 58. wait a minute. we're going the wrong way. with these temperatures next saturday and sunday temperatures around 60 degrees which is below
